Ryan and Bryce were now sitting on the bed, face to face with each other. Ryan had dragged Bryce inside his room, and instantly began demanding some kind of explanation.
But then he noticed how Bryce was shivering and shaking from the cold, and he felt bad for yelling. So now Bryce was all wrapped up in a blanket, sitting on Ryan's bed, the two of them just sitting in silence.
Eventually though, the silence had to be broken. So Ryan shrugs his shoulders, and asks, "What brings you here so late?"
Bryce tenses up, pulling the blankets a little tighter around himself. He looked around, before sighing tiredly. "My mom found out where we went," he said quietly. "She... She wasn't happy. Told me we shouldn't be poking around in business that isn't ours, and... I don't know. She just wasn't happy and it was weird. I'm not used to being yelled at like that."
Ryan nods. He understands, for the most part. Bryce seemed like a goody two shoes, with his pretty face and friendly personality. Of course he's not used to being yelled at, he's probably never been grounded a day in his life!
"That's okay, Bryce. It happens." Ryan falls silent, thinking for a moment. He groans lightly, putting his head into his hands. "I wish I'd have written down what I had wanted to talk to you about. I completely forgot about it," he grumbles.
Bryce's eyes widen, and he gasps. "Oh! Right, right, I have these. That's why I came over, actually." To Ryan's surprise, Bryce pulls out a small stack of papers from his jacket pocket, handing them to Ryan.
He looks them over, then gives Bryce a questioning look. "You... You took the stuff from Luke's apartment?"
Bryce nods. "Yeah. I know it's probably a dumb idea, but I couldn't help myself. I guess I just wanted to keep them safe. But, I did find this while looking through them," he explains, holding up one particular paper to Ryan.
"Huh. It's... It's just an old envelope, Bryce." Ryan sees nothing special about it. But then Bryce flips it around, and Ryan's eyes widen. "What does this mean?"
Bryce shrugs. "I mean, it's an address, it has Luke's name on it, doesn't that mean he might be there?"
Ryan stares at the address, written onto the envelope in neat, slightly faded pen. "Bryce, this address is way too far to drive to. We would have to fly our asses over there. There's no way we're doing that."
"I know, I know," Bryce whines. "But think about it, though. Yeah, it's a stupid idea, but... Wouldn't it be exciting? To just run off together to some random place? Even if we don't find anything useful, we can say that we still got something out of it."
Ryan eyes Bryce cautiously, trying to figure out what Bryce was getting at. He was hiding something. Ryan couldn't tell what it was, but he knew that there was some hidden reason, deep within Bryce, that made him want to leave this place.
A part of him wants to bring up how not exciting it would be for them, if something goes wrong or if one of them gets hurt. But he refrains, for Bryce's sake. And despite some odd feeling stirring within him, he smiles brightly at Bryce and nods.
"If this is what you really wanna do, then let's go for it, Brycey."
