CHAPTER FIVE
 — FROZEN IN FEAR
lost signal — part one

"I wasn't named after Ada Lovelace for nothing." — ada cranston

AFTER SPENDING AN HOUR OR SO THAT MORNING WORKING ON HER PROJECT, ADA TELEPORTED TO THE BASE TO FIND SOLON TINKERING WITH A PIECE OF TECH.
So, of course, the Cranston in her had to help. Ollie was also intrigued by whatever Solon was working on whilst Amelia went up to Dinohenge to talk to Zayto. Adjusting to life on Earth, 65 million years later, wasn't going to be easy. But the Rangers were going to be with him the entire time.

When he came over for dinner after their defeat of Shockwave, Ada could tell that he was emotional. It must've been nice for him to have a nice home cooked meal and a quiet night with people who he cared about which was something she doubted he got before he was inside that stasis pod. And what made the evening even better was when Zayto adored the food her Dad had made even if it wasn't Rafkonian.

Zayto and Amelia teleported back inside the base. He immediately greeted his old friend at his reappearance and she turned to him.

"Zayto." The Solonosaurus began. "We received a message from deep space." She announced before glancing to the device her and Ada spent the last few minutes tweaking. "I don't have Rafkon's exact co-ordinates, but it comes from the same galactic quadrant." Ada knew, more than most humans, about space but she didn't know of this area.

That perked up Zayto. "Really? S—So it could be from my people?" He was so excited and eager to hear anything about Rafkon that it would break Ada's heart if it was anything but. "Play it, Solon."

"All righty. Here we go." But when Solon pressed play, the transmitter started sparking. It seemed her and Ada's adjustments hadn't worked.

"Is it supposed to do that?"

Frowning, Ada ran her eyes over the device. "It must have overloaded." She deduced. Zayto's face dropped when nothing came through.

Solon hung her head. "I'm sorry, Zayto. There's no way it will play the message now." She sadly informed the Rafkonian as she pulled out a piece of the device with her claws. "The modulator is burnt."

Ada winced at the news. Anything else could be easily fixed, but not this.

"Let's get another one then."

The Yellow Ranger shook her head. "It's not that easy, Ames. This tech isn't from Earth. I even doubt Cranston tech would be able to help."

Then Solon added, verifying Ada's words. "This component came from Rafkon. Finding another one on Earth seems, well—"

"Impossible."

They all sighed as the truth set in. Even Ada, who was often optimistic about technology, knew this was done for. But Amelia still had hope. "There has to be another way to decipher that message." She paused to think and then a moment she whipped out her phone. "Wait a second. Madame Indigo can help. She's a psychic." At the moment, psychics were in Ada's maybe column of things she believed in. Because part of her thought there were people out there sensitive to things, but most were frauds. "She does everything: fortune telling's, palm readings, even mystical communication."

And Zayto, who had no experience with modern Earth, trusted Amelia. "You really think this... psychic can tell us what the message is?"

"Yes!"

"No."

Ada cringed at the opposite responses and then she turned to Solon who stared at Ollie and Amelia with intrigue. This wasn't going to end well.

Ollie quickly stepped forwards. "Psychics are ridiculous, Zayto."

"Psychic help isn't unheard of, Ollie." Put forth Ada and the boy spun around so fast he almost got whiplash. There was an offended and puzzled look across his face as he stared at her. It was like she had betrayed science. "I believe I read somewhere about a psychic helping another Ranger team."

"Oh my goodness, you HAVE to find it to show it to me later." Said an excited Amelia.

Ada smiled at her softly. "I'll try."

Ollie just shook his heads at the two girls. And then he moved back to Zayto. "What you need is science. Mom knows a guy at the observatory. They probably picked up the signal. Let's ask them."

As someone in the middle, Zayto glanced to Ada for advice. She nodded at him encouragingly because she knew he knew what to do. Then, Zayto said. "Maybe... we'll try both. We can start with the psychic."

"Fine." Grumbled Ollie. "But who's gonna waste 15 bucks on a psychic?"

"Don't worry," Amelia reassured Zayto, "I'll get the money." Then she turned back to Ollie and her request made Ada snort. "Ollie, can I borrow 15 bucks?"

Ollie rolled his eyes at the girl's ask whilst Zayto and Ada grinned with amusement. Ada then stepped closer to Amelia and offered. "I have the money."

As the daughter of Cranston tech's CEO, Ada's family had always been well off. But at the moment she was trying to build a life for herself, by herself, so she had just managed to obtain a job that she would be starting next week. Still, her Papa liked to send some occasional money to her account and now she was using it to help her friends. So, even if the psychic was a fake, Ada wouldn't believe the money would be totally wasted.

"Thanks, Ada."

"You're welcome."

AMELIA LED THE WAY TO MADAME INDIGO'S TENT, PRACTICALLY BOUNCING WITH EXCITMENT.
Although she doubted this Madame Indigo was the real deal, Ada still wanted to see if she knew anything. She may have been a scientist who liked sticking to the rules of physics, but things like this had always fascinated her.

Once they entered Madame Indigo's tent, they found her in the middle of giving Jane and J-Borg of BuzzBlast a reading. So they just stood there and waited as she told them Jane had the ability to become psychic. And from what Ada already knew about Jane, this wasn't going to go well.

As soon as Jane and J-Borg had left, Madame Indigo gestured for the quartet to the cushions on the floor. "Please, take a seat." And so they did and then they told Madame Indigo about their predicament. "So, you... want to know about this mystery message?"  Amelia nodded excitedly. "Well. Madame Indigo is happy to help." Ada just had to hope she was the real deal but she didn't think that was likely. Then the 'psychic' turned to the Rafkonian. "First, Zayto, I need an object; something meaningful that I can use to source your energy."

He thought about it for a moment and then Ada observed as he pulled out a pendant from under his shirt and removed it from his neck. She stared at the red crystal curiously because somehow it seemed familiar but she couldn't quite place where from.

"This, is from my home, far away."

Zayto held out the red pendant. That little rock surely had come a long way and had been around for even longer time. And it was beautiful.

Madame Indigo hovered her hands both above and below Zayto's and then she closed to eyes  as if to concentrate on the energy coming from the pendant. "Yes, yes! This message that you speak of — I am making a connection," Zayto glanced back to the others and both Ollie and Ada were looking at this woman sceptically. "to someone a great distance away. They desire to see you very much and would love to contact you."

Suddenly, Madame Indigo deflated, letting out a large breath as she collapsed back into her seat. It was a good show, Ada had to give her that, but she was certain she would know the real deal when she saw it. And Madame Indigo was not that.

"They would?" Gasped Zayto. "Wow."

Then Ollie quickly had an idea so jumped in. "Hey, I was just wondering." His arm shot around Amelia's shoulders which instantly confused the girl. "Amelia and I are super in love—"

"Ollie, what are you—"

Ada caught on quickly what was happening as she sat between the Blue and Red Rangers. She knew exactly what Ollie was planning but just didn't like the idea of messing with Amelia in the process.

He pressed a finger to the girl's lips, silencing her. "Shhhh. Honey muffin." To stifle her giggles, Ada's hand shot up to cover her mouth. But it wasn't enough to muffle the sounds so she cough quietly to rid herself of them. Then Ollie turned to Madame Indigo. "I just have a simple question. Tells us about our future. Together."

The 'psychic' chuckled before reaching out for their hands. Beside Zayto, Ada could see the perplexed look on his face as he looked to his two Rangers. It seemed the Rafkonian hadn't caught on to the plan as she had. "Oh. I see you have had a long and happy relationship," Amelia's head sunk as she heard those words. "with many more years to come!"

Zayto was grinning at the couple as Amelia looked disheartened for Ollie to be proven right. Although Ada guessed this woman was not the real deal, she still had hope.

"Long and happy?" She glanced to Ollie. "Us?" Madame Indigo smiled. "Thanks, Madame, I guess."

As Amelia stood up to leave, Ada watched her with concern. The Pink Ranger was her friend and she knew what it was like to have something you believed in turn out to be rubbish. It wasn't a good feeling.

Ada turned to the fraud and nodded. "We appreciate your time, Madame Indigo." And then she left after Amelia with Zayto and Ollie not that far behind them.

They exited the tent and as soon as Ada saw Amelia she nudged the girl with her shoulder.

"You ok?"

Amelia sighed. "I will be."

When Zayto approached them, he was beaming. "Hey, guys, I had no idea you two were in love." He seemed so happy about it as well.

Ada moved to stand beside him. "Our friends are not in any sort of romantic relationship." She informed him.

"We're not in love." Simplified Ollie who turned to Amelia.

"Definitely not."

Zayto, after glancing at each of the trio, frowned. "But Ollie called you 'Honey muffin'?" The Yellow Ranger had to turn away to hide her laughs as that name was spoken aloud once more. Her Fathers were cheesy at times, but even they didn't use that one.

Grimacing, Amelia said. "Yeah, and it was really hard not to throw up in my mouth when he did."

"Same here. Ugh."

Ada sighed and shook her head at the two. And it seemed Zayto had finally caught up. "But then, Madame Indigo?"

"Is a fraud." Supplied Ollie.

Sending Zayto a sympathetic look, the Cranston girl nodded. "Affirmative."

Then Ollie added. "She just told us what she thought we wanted to hear." That was how nearly all the fakes worked and it just made it harder to find even a sliver of the real thing.

Zayto looked down at the pendant around his neck, picking it up between his fingers. "So, she wasn't making a connection with anything?" It wasn't much, but Ada tried to comfort the sad extra-terrestrial by placing a gentle hand on his arm. He seemed to relax to her touch.

"She connected with the cash we gave her." Sighed Amelia as she crossed her arms over her chest. "There's a lot of frauds out there. It's so hard to find a real psychic these days."

But despite everything, Zayto hadn't given up hope yet and that made Ada smile. "Maybe the observatory will have the answer."

"Then, let's go." Nodded Ollie as his idea was finally being used. "At least it won't cost Ada 15 bucks, Honey muffin." Amelia scoffed at the pet name.

And so the Ranger quartet left Madame Indigo and her fake psychic business behind, still on the search to find the message from Zayto's planet.

THERE HAD BEEN A CALL ON THE RANGER HOTLINE ABOUT A SPORIX BEAST SO THE RANGERS WERE DIDN'T MAKE IT TO THE OBSERVATORY.
Honestly, the Hotline was such a good idea, she didn't know why a Ranger team hadn't set one up earlier. It was already proving to be fruitful. Not just with beasts, but with unhatched Sporix too.

When the quartet teleported to the last sighting of the beast they found an interesting looking one right on front of them. They had teleported perfectly around the beast to surround them in a square. And when Ada looked past the beast, she saw the Mighty Mucus running away and sneered in her direction.

The beast had eyes on its chest which made up for the lack of ones on its face which was covered in what looked like snakes but with no heads. There was an entire face on its chest — not just the eyes — which was giving Ada the creeps. Whatever this beast could do, it couldn't be good.

"Give up, you're surrounded." Zayto proclaimed as he stared at the beast.

The beast then said sarcastically. "I'm so scared." Ada observed as the beast tapped the eyes on its chest which started to glow on contact. She didn't know why, but her instinct was telling her not to look she she quickly diverted her gaze elsewhere. "Look!" But Zayto did look. "You can see the fear in my eyes."

Ada turned back around, not at the beast, but at Zayto, only to find their leader frozen in his place. Not good.

"Zayto!" Cried Amelia. "He's frozen!"

A sad look crossed Ada's face as she glanced to the Red Ranger, still as a statue in his post. "There must be a way to unfreeze him. We just have to find it."

"It's the eyes on her chest." Ollie figured it out too. Instantly, his arm shot up to shield his eyes. "Don't look at them!" The other two quickly followed suit.

Laughing maniacally, the beast charged. But not at them, at Zayto. Ada and the others realised too late to rescue their friend as the beast slashed across Zayto's chest with her blade. He was sent hurtling to the ground, a pained groan escaping him, but he seemed to be free from her control.

Pain woke them from the trance. Was there anything else?

"So you figured me out."

Ada shrugged nonchalantly. "It wasn't that hard."

"That doesn't matter. Because, if you can't see, you can't fight." Considering how Ada couldn't look at her, she assumed there was a smirk on her lips due to the victorious tone in her voice.

But the thing was, Ada was smirking too. Because those words didn't swat out hope, they just encouraged her. To her, it sounded like a challenge. "Yeah?"

Behind their arms, the trio all glanced at one another and nodded in agreement. They knew what they had to do. Ollie then announced. "We'll take that challenge."

So the Rangers turned around with their backs facing the evil eyes of fear.

"It's Morphin' time." At Amelia's call, they summoned their morphers. Ada felt it's light weight on her arm, despite the power it held, then used her free arm to retrieve her key. "Dino Fury Key!"

"Activate!"

Ada gripped the jaw of the dino morpher to spin it around. Then she ended the sequence. "Link to Morphin Grid."

And with Ada's voice, the trio rotated their morphers and morphed. The yellow power coated the entirety of Ada's body and the familiarity of it made her grin. It felt good to be one with the spirit of the Pterodactyl.

"Dino Fury Power!"

They swung down their sabers and although they could not see what they were trying to attack, they had to be ready. "You'll pay for hurting our friend."

Ada tightened her grip on her blade. "Not if I do the same to you."

Jumping into action, Ollie struck the beast's back and as soon as he was out in front, he covered his eyes with his forearm. "Remember to cover up!" He reminded the girls as they prepared to jump into battle.

Fighting without seeing was difficult, but not impossible.

Ada had been taught from a young age to harness all of her senses whilst fighting, not just her sight, but that did not mean this was easy. The others had rushed off into battle, but Ada knew better.

She could hear Ollie's pained grunts as the beast slashed at him and winced at the sound. Now, sound she could focus on.

The Sporix beast's footsteps were heavy and despite all around her, Ada managed to single them out amongst all the other sounds. She crept towards the creature as it made a beeline for Amelia who was frantically brandishing her sword in an attempt to land at least one blow. "Can't see!"

It laughed diabolically once more as it swung down her blade. The sharp edge made contact with the Pink Ranger, sending her flying to the ground. Her cries of pain echoed in Ada's ears as her fellow Rangers were grounded before the beast. Now, Ada seized the chance to strike.

With her eyes screwed shut, the Yellow Ranger launched herself at the beast and slashed against the back with her dino saber. It expelled a pain-filled cry at the impact. "You will pay for that!"

"Do you want cash or cheque? I'm good for both."

She raised her saber once more and prepared for another attack, but then she heard the return of Mucus and Ada halted in her tracks. Then, a moment later, Mucus vanished into thin air and took the newly-hatched Sporix beast with her.

They were gone.

As soon as they had vanished, Ada reached for her morpher as she headed straight for Zayto. And the others had the same idea as they demorphed simultaneously before checking on their friend. There wasn't any physical sign of damage at the moment, which was a good sign. But things weren't always as they seemed.

Ollie and Amelia grabbed an arm each as they heaved him to his feet. "Are you ok, Zayto?"

He grunted in pain before panting out. "Yeah, I'm ok." Reassured the Rafkonian. His hand instantly went to clutch his shoulder making Ada frown in concern. He was hurt. "But that beast is dangerous. When I was looking at her, I couldn't move."

"Instead of fight or flight, it seemed she created a new option: fright." Sighed Ada who ran a hand through her curls.

"Well, the good news is: the hotline worked. And if she comes back, we'll know about it."

Then Ollie proposed. "That gives us time to go to the observatory and figure out what that message said." They all hoped that they could decipher what that message was because even though they didn't exactly know it was from Rafkon, they may obtain information about it.

Zayto was so desperate to find out anything about the fate of his planet, 65 million Earth years after he left it. And the three new Rangers wanted to do their best to help him. So with the battle over but not yet done with, the Rangers grabbed their communicators and teleported away.

And the observatory was their next destination.

AFTER THEIR OBSERVATORY TRIP THEY LEARNT... NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. Apparently they did receive the energy burst and even after using every decoding method they had, the observatory turned up empty handed. Poor Zayto, he had so been looking forward to hearing anything about his planet. It crushed his heart when he found out it was nothing. So, after he told his Rangers he needed some space, he teleported away and Amelia was called into work. And with nothing better to do, Ada and Ollie followed.

BuzzBlast was experiencing some technical difficulties — their feed was down. It was rather curious considering how everything else was running smoothly, but Ada was sure she could fix it. "We're at full power," Stan, Amelia's co-worker, informed them. "and our internet connection is fine, but our broadcast doesn't come up."

Curiouser and curiouser.

"I could take a look." Suggested Ada who glanced at the blank screen in fascination.

Stan glanced at Amelia, looking for confirmation about this unknown young woman. "She's a tech genius, Stan. If anyone can help, it's Ada."

"I wasn't named after Ada Lovelace for nothing." Agreed the Cranston girl. Then, she decided to get to work. Stepping towards a computer, Ada prepared to delve deep into the system. But then, the screen started to go static.

"Something's happening."

Colour glitched onto the screen, forming bits and pieces of an uncompleted jigsaw puzzle. But the more the screen glitched, the more pieces were added and the clearer the picture became. She realised too late exactly who was on the screen. It was Vypeera.

"People of Pine Ridge, look into my eyes and you will all be frozen!"

Ada did not look away in time.

The glowing eyes of Vypeera shone through the screen, captivating all that had her in their sights. And they froze on the spot. Ada felt the fear rise inside of her as it consumed her being and fixed her joints in place.

She couldn't move.

And neither could Ollie and Amelia.

With three Rangers down, they just had to hope the fourth Ranger was still around. Because without him, Pine Ridge was doomed.

ADA WASN'T EXACTLY SURE HOW LONG IT HAD BEEN SINCE THEY WERE FROZEN, BUT SHE FELT SO RELIEVED WHEN SHE FINALLY REGAINED CONTROL OF HER LIMBS. Vypeera's live stream was down, breaking her spell upon them. It seemed pain was not the only thing that could break her power over them. Thank the Grid for that.

A gasp fell from her lips as her body relaxed and she turned back to look at Ollie and Amelia who too were glancing her way. "We're free." Then Amelia's communicator bleeped.

Ada followed after the two as they exited the room to answer the call. As soon as they were clear, Amelia pressed down on the communicator.

"Solon." She said and then looked to Ollie and Ada next to her. "What did we miss?"

The Solonosaurus quickly replied. "Zayto is fighting Vypeera on the roof of BuzzBlast. And he needs your help."

Ada nodded and activated her morpher. "We're on it, Solon." The trio quickly moved themselves further out of sight before inserting their dino keys and morphing. And just for good measure, as this beast was incredibly powerful, they all used a boost key too. Then they teleported to the roof.

And just in time too because Vypeera was about to stab Zayto.

They hit her away with their sabers. But instead of staying and fighting, the Sporix beast made a dash for the roof ledge. "I'm not done yet, Rangers." Then she leapt over the edge and jumped down to the ground below.

Not a good sign.

Their boosts vanished as Ada quickly went down to help Zayto to his feet. "Are you ok, Zayto?"

"Yes, thank you." He said as he pulled the red blindfold from his eyes before scanning his surroundings. "Where did she go?"

And his question was soon answered when they all turned around to find Vypeera had grown many times her size. She was taller than basically all the buildings in Pine Ridge now.

"Yikes." Cringed Amelia as they watched the beats grow. "That's one massive Medusa." Ada watched, jaw dropped, as the creature grew. She made sure to avoid looking at the eyes, but she couldn't help but observe the beast as it made its way to a ginormous height. "If she's giant, does that mean we need—"

Zayto lifted his communicator. "Solon, are the Tricera, Ptero and Ankylo zords ready?"

Wait... Ada was getting her zord. Eeee. She was so excited.

This was gonna be epic. Or as her Papa would say: Morphenomenal.

"Almost." Informed Solon as the morphed Rangers were all buzzing with excitement. "I'll deploy the T-Rex Champion Zord while they boot up."

"Our zords!" Whooped Amelia. "Yes!"

Ada was beaming. "I love zords."

Turning between each of his Rangers, he said. "I know what I have to do. Link to Morphin Grid!" Their Red Ranger morphed and then told them his plan. "We can't pilot our zords blindfolded, so try to take out those eyes on her chest."

"Got it."

Then Zayto teleported away to the T-Rex Champion zord which left Ada, Amelia and Ollie to ensure this battle was in his favour. The zord transformed into battle mode and started to attack Vypeera so now it was their turn.

Amelia brought up Solon on their communicator. "Solon. We really wanna help Zayto." The Blue and Yellow Rangers were watching the fight unfold nervously from the side lines, edging to jump in to help.

"Then you're gonna love what's comin' your way."

The zords had been deployed. And Ada could feel her heart racing inside her chest.

They heard the roars of their zords before they could see them with both the Tricera and Ankylo zords taking the streets and Ada was the first to spot hers as it zoomed straight towards them in the sky.

The Ptero zord was gorgeous. It was a bright, saturated yellow with wide, sharp wings that looked like it could cut like any blade. it reared its head and let out another roar as it saw its Ranger on the rooftop. Because the two of them were bonded through the Grid which was a very special thing.

Ada grinned and laughed with joy as her zord soared above their heads. "She's stunning."

"Look at that blade!" Ollie said as he admired his zord.

Behind her helmet, there was a big smile across Amelia's face as she watched her zord approach. "Time to hammer this monster. Attack her!" And her zord followed her command as it launched straight at Vypeera and swung its Anklyo hammer straight at her chest.

The Tricera zord joined the Anklyo zord as it leapt and slashed with its blade. And when the Ptero zord flew down, spinning in the air, to cut the Sporix with its sharp wings, Ada cheered her fellow Pterodactyl on. Vypeera tried to strike back, but the zords were fast and dodged her attacks.

"We need a plan!"

Ada stared up at the mega-sized battle. "We have to devise a logical stratagem in order to help Zayto vanquish her." At her words, Ollie tilted his helmet at her. "What? Fancy words always seemed to help my Papa come up with a plan. I thought I'd give it a try."

Then an idea came to Ollie, so it seemed the words worked for someone else, not her. "We just need to cover up her eyes."

"But how?"

The girls glanced at each other and then to Ollie. "I know." He looked up at the giant dinosaur machines, fuelled with the power of the Grid, and then instructed. "Zords, use the road! Your Tricera blade can cut up the concrete."

"That's brilliant." Ada complimented Ollie and then turned to her zord.

And just as he asked, the Tricera-blade zord slashed down at the ground, cutting out a rectangle from the road.

Excitedly, Amelia stepped forwards. "Ooh! The Anklyo tail can smash it!" The zord did as she said and used its tail to demolish the cut section of road into may different pieces.

"And the Ptero zord can send them our way." Said the Yellow Ranger as she saw Amelia prepare a boost key. And as soon as the words left her mouth, her zord beat her large wings, hurtling the pieces of concrete straight at the Rangers.

"Hover-dino key! Ready!" Amelia quickly inserted the key and pulled down the cross-guard as huge chunks of concrete drew nearer and nearer. She flicked down her blade and the boost armour formed around her arm. And just in time too. "Hover Hold!"

The pieces stayed where they were, just metres from their faces. They were held in place by a pink energy which then dissipated a second later. Ada reached for her belt and pulled out a boost key of her own. "Muscle-dino key! Ready!" Within moments, the armour had formed around her as it had done with Amelia. "Muscle flex!" The muscular piece around her arm bulged and lunged forwards, smacking the floating pieces of concrete straight at Vypeera.

Ollie whipped out his own boost, armour already formed on his arm, and then brought his blade across. "Fix-it-quick!"

And then, suddenly, all the pieces of concrete that had soared to Vypeera reformed into what they originally were — a road.

There was a piece of road slap bang in the middle of her chest, shielding them from the freezing gaze of her eyes.

"No!" She hollered. "My evil eyes!"

Then Zayto's voice popped through the comms. "Good work, team!" He sounded so relieved and proud of them, and that made the trio grin. "She can't freeze us now. Let's finish her together. Throw your keys towards the Zords."

Eee. It was megazord time! Ada was so excited she could hardly breathe.

The trio pulled out their keys, clicked them open, and them tossed them high into the air and towards their zords. "Zords, combine!"

They watched as the Tricera zord attached to one arm of the Zayto's zord and the Anklyo zord took the other. Ada's zord split into three, with a wing attaching outwards on each forearm and the central body fusing to the chest. And as soon as the megazord was complete, the three Rangers were teleported inside.

The four of them stood on their own coloured stands, arranged in a diamond with Ada at the back but directly behind Zayto. It was so spacious in here compared to the Mighty Morphin Megazord. And it was so amazing.

"Whoa." Breathed out Ollie as they all took in their surroundings. "We're in a Megazord!"

Ada stared around her in awe. "Don't tell Papa, but I think I prefer this one to his."

"This is wild!" An excited Amelia squealed and then looked across to Ollie and then back to Ada. "Ollie, Ada, we gotta get a selfie in this thing!"

A scoff passed Ada's lips. "Obviously."

Zayto coughed, regaining their attention, and then redirected his team to the fight before them. "Um, guys? Giant monster to fight?"

"Right. Right, right. Sorry."

"Dino Fury Megazord!"

They had inserted their blades into the post by their console which linked them directly to the megazord. Zayto cast a look over his shoulder to his team. "Follow my lead." He said as he withdrew his saber from the console. The others copied his movements.

"Aye, aye, Captain." Saluted Ada, right hand clutching her saber.

The Megazord charged at Vypeera, slashing at her with the Tricera-blade and the attached Ptero-wing. The four Rangers were in absolute sync as they followed Zayto's movements and allowed their instincts to take over. They then spun around, kicking the beast directly into her road-covered chest, sending her hurtling back. They were winning.

Zayto then decided. "Let's end this!" He plunged his dino blade back into the console before holding his hand high up into the air. He was waiting for something and Ada could only assume it was the Megazord's final strike. "Megafury Saber."

A large, even pointer, blade materialised from the air and Zayto reached up to pluck it from where it had formed. He brought it down and readied for the final strike.

"Dino Fury Megazord! Mega slash!"

They all whipped their blades outwards and a burst of pure energy was flung from the Megazord's blade, destroying Vypeera in a large explosion. The beast was no more.

"Dino Fury victory!"

NOT ONLY HAD THE RANGERS DEFEATED THE TERRIFYING VYPEERA, BUT THEY ALSO MANAGED TO RETRIEVE HER SPORIX BEFORE VOID KNIGHT COULD. So, Ada had kicked ass, been in her first proper Megazord fight — not her first time in a Megazord but it was the first time a zord belonged to her — but they now had one up on Void Knight. Things were looking good for her and the Rangers of Pine Ridge.

Now back at base, with the zords returned to their hiding places, the quartet were returning the Sporix to the chest it had been stored in for 65 million years. Ada put away her phone after responding to the message her family had sent, congratulating her on her victory today. They had seen it on the news and other streaming services and even caught sight of her own zord, which they complimented. "That blindfold was a stroke of genius, Zayto." Complimented Ollie as the Sporix vanished into the chest. "Very impressive."

"I agree."

Zayto then admitted. "To be honest, there was a moment where I thought about giving up." But Power Rangers weren't meant to give up, so Zayto found a way and it worked. He pulled out his pendant, which now had a hole in it as she heard Solon had used it to replace the burnt modulator. "But then someone reminded me that giving up just isn't an option." He smiled. "I had to find a way."

They now approached Solon who was fixing the device so they could hear the message. Oh how Ada hoped this would be from Rafkon with any form of news. "And find a way you did, my boy." She showed them the new piece crafted from a section of Zayto's pendant. "Now let's see if the new modulator works. I've got a good feeling." She said as she placed it inside the machine.

The device beeped and whirred as power flowed through it. And this time, nothing was sparking.

"It's online!" Cheered Ada. "You did it, Solon!"

Amelia then asked. "Does that mean you can play the message now?"

"Only one way to find out."

Reaching over, Zayto pressed a button on the side of the device. Then the message started to play. But it was in a different language, that or it was mumbled gibberish. They couldn't quite tell at the moment.

Humming in though, the dinosaur mused. "I can speak millions of languages, but I don't know that one." Now that was impressive. But Ada guessed that not only was Solon a cyborg dinosaur, but she had also had millions of years to learn things. "Or French. French is tough."

"Is it from your people?"

A heavy sigh filled the air. "I'm not sure. I don't know it either." Zayto glanced at Ada, who had more knowledge about extra-terrestrials than most humans (he had seen that in her mind), but she shook her head as she did not recognise the sounds at all.

"Language can change a lot over millions of years." Solon mentioned as she tried to keep an open mind. "It could be from Rafkon."

A hopeful smile graced his lips. "You're right." Nodded Zayto. "It could be. I'm not gonna give up."

"That's nice to hear." A small grin appeared on Ada's face as she glanced at her friend.

"Now that this is fixed, I can do more than just listen to messages. I can send my own."

Now that was incredible.

Just like her, the others were amazed to hear that. "Really? You can?" Zayto nodded at Ollie and then he stepped towards the device.

"How exciting."

With a button, a beam of light cast over Zayto and it started to record his message for this people. "Greetings. This is Zayto, leader of the Dino Fury Power Rangers, speaking to you from a planet known as Earth. 65 million years ago, I left Rafkon. I'd give anything to know if anyone is still there. Please, send me a signal. I'll be waiting."

And then his message was beamed across the stars. Now they just had to hope and wait that his people would respond.

One day, she was sure they would know something. Ada had hope.
