Swords clashed. Burning arrows flew across the field. Hundreds of fallen soldiers were strewn across the wasteland, lifeless. 

For a moment, the adrenaline gushing through my veins subsided. Time slowed. For the first time since the war started, I could see past the veil of rivalry. As I looked, all I could see was desperation. Desperation to save their land. Desperation to keep their loved ones safe. Desperation to get out of the battlefield alive. Desperation to win.

For a moment, I realized that we were all fighting for the same cause. We were all fighting to live.
