Ah, my favourite kind of research.

Reading widely exposes you to various writing styles, different voices and unique ways to deliver plot points. It may even increase your vocabulary.  

Reading can also inspire you. If you have the dreaded "writer's block' it can help get your creative juices going. Perhaps you would have written the book differently. Maybe the main character should have ended up with the other person (Team Ben) or walked away from it all.
