Chapter 93: Genders & Names

"So.. when are we gonna tell the kids about this?" I ask, as Michael shifts position, standing opposite me.

He takes both my hands in both of his, and rubs my knuckles gently

"We can tell them when we know the gender of our child."

"Tomorrow?" I ask in clarification.

"Yes, tomorrow. I want us to be the first to know about it. Once we know what gender our Prince or Princess is, then we can tell everyone. Alright?" Michael answers.

"That sounds perfect. And it's only one day," I reply, and Michael and I begin to walk down the park, which is illuminated by garden lights and tree lights.

It's a beautiful place, really.

"You don't even realise how happy I am," Michael tells me, coming to a stop by a flower bush.

"Of course I do, Michael. We're gonna be parents to our fourth precious gift," I whisper.

It's just sunk in.

We're having another child, another precious gift.

"My fifth, actually," Michael corrects me, turning to the side and picking a single flower from the bush gently. "Because you were my first gift."

He tucks my hair behind my ear, and slides the flower into my blonde locks, before caressing my cheek softly.

"I could say the same for you," I say, and we continue to walk down the park.

"Ooh," I hiss with a giggle. Michael immediately turns around and looks at me.

"What is it?"

"Baby's kicking," I reply, my speech full of joy as I say those words.

"Wants to meet you already, I bet," Michael whispers, using his free hand to touch my stomach and stroke it gently.

His touch is so precious.

"And you still don't think I'm too old for this, Michael?"

"Of course not. I've said it before; you're the perfect age. You still look like you're in your early twenties."

"I somehow doubt that," I smile, resting my head on his shoulder as we walk.

"Miss Becky, have I told you that I love you lately?" Michael asks innocently, squeezing my hand lightly to get a reaction from me. "Have I told you how much I care?"

"It may have been mentioned before," I chuckle, squeezing his hand back. "And I could ask you the same questions."

"Such a beautiful woman you are," Michael replies softly, his voice almost a whisper. "That's just why I love you."

"And I love you, too," I check the time. "But it's getting late. Maybe we should go home now. It's already 11:20."

"Ok, I'm sure the kids'll have something to say about us being home late. We said we'd be back at 10:30."

"Still the same badasses we were in college," I say, reminiscing the old days. "Being nearly an hour late to be somewhere."

"Oh sure," Michael scoffs quietly, swatting the air. "Cos we all know how badass I was, acting hard to get into the Jax. Only that kinda backfired, if you don't remember. God, do you remember when I faked my death so Daniel wouldn't hurt us?"

"Yes.. and when I had to pretend I was going out with him.. and he.. took my virginity.. I regret that, so much. I really do," I frown.

Michael places his hand under my chin, and lifts it up so I look at him. "Yes, but you took mine, Becky. And did Daniel give you kids? I don't think he did. I was more lucky than him."

"True," I sigh, as we leave the park and make our way back to Neverland. "And you're still alive today."

"Yeah, Daniel's been gone for.. what? 17, 18 years? I wonder what he woulda been like, had he been alive today."

"And Rachel.. and Janine," I add.

"Exactly. It's crazy how many people we've lost. I wonder how my daughter is, right now. Y'know, Alexa? I wonder what she's doing with the angels now.." Michael's voice trails off, and he falls silent.

I look over at him, as I feel like he's upset.

And I'm right; he's got tears in his eyes over the memory of Alexa.

"It's alright, Michael," I stroke his arm to comfort him. "Hey, what about this, right?"

"What?" he turns my way, trying to hide his tears.

"If our child is a girl, how about we call her Alexa in memory of you and Janine's daughter?"

Michael's eyes fill more with tears at this idea. "And what about if it's a boy?"

"We can call it something similar like.. Alex!"

"You're so thoughtful," Michael sniffles, and forces a smile.

"I care for you, Michael. It's my job to be thoughtful, remember?"

"But it should be me making it up to you, you've never done a single bad thing to me in our lives, but I've kissed two other girls before, and gotten one of them pregnant-"

"But that's in the past, Michael. As far as I'm concerned, you've done nothing wrong. And the fact Janine got pregnant wasn't your fault, remember? She sexually assaulted you! It was her fault.. but let's not disrespect those who are.. no longer with us. Let's just forget any hate, now. Ok?"

"Ok," Michael replies, and we arrive at Neverland.

"Now, happy smiles on, ok? We've gotta act normal in front of the kids," I say, squeezing his hand once more to make him laugh.

We go through the front door and Michael removes his tuxedo jacket.

"Kids, we're home!" I call in a whisper.

"Hey mum! Hey dad!" the kids call in turn.

"I bet Ryder comes and says somethi-"

"You guys weren't home when you said you'd be," Ryder interrupts Michael's prediction, and folds his arms, as if he's our parent.

"Well done for noticing," Michael replies sarcastically, flinging his jacket onto the stairs' banister.

"That's not what a responsible parent does; lying to their kids," Ryder says, trying to remain stern, walking slowly down the stairs.

"Yeah, well, we only said an estimated time, so-"

"Now, I'm gonna go back to my room, and give you two some time alone, to have a good think about what you've done," Ryder jokes, before turning around and walking back upstairs.

Me and Michael are suppressing laughs now, and we hold them off until he's out of sight.

"Do you think he meant that?" I ask with a snicker, taking Michael's hand and walking upstairs to bed.

"Nah, course not," Michael concludes, as we arrive at the bedroom.

"It's quite late.. but it's our anniversary. I think we should celebrate the occasion," Michael winks.

"Yeah.. but how?" I tease, lying down on the bed.

"I'll tell you how," Michael growls seductively, running a single finger down the side of my body, and stopping at my thigh.

"You'll tell me?" I ask innocently.

Michael smiles cheekily, starting to touch me gently. He brings his head close to my neck, as he whispers in my ear sexily;

"Scrap that; I'll show you."

*The next day*

"I'm so excited for this!" Michael squeals, as we enter a room with a midwife, who has an accommodating smile on her face.

"Good morning, Mr and Mrs Jackson; I hear you're here for the gender determination today?"

"Yes," I breathe.

"Wonderful," the midwife smiles. "I'm midwife Judy, and I'll be performing the scan today. Becky, if you'd like to lie on here, that'd be great."

I lie on the table, and Judy lifts my shirt, and applies a cold gel to my stomach.

I can't help but giggle at its ticklish feel, and my reaction makes Michael laugh.

"Ok, I'm just gonna make sure the baby's alright, then I'll be able to tell what gender it is, ok?" Judy explains.

"Ok," I reply quietly, as she starts scanning me, spreading the gel all over my stomach.

Michael's holding my hand the entire time, watching the screen with me.

Our baby is moving around a little, and we can just make out the head from the body.

It's incredible, seriously.

"Everything seems to be in order with your children," Judy says.

"That's wonderful," Michael smiles.

But then his smile drops, as we both realise the same thing.

"Children?" I ask.

"Yes, you're expecting twins, Mr and Mrs Jackson."

"Oh my-" Michael's hand covers his mouth in shock, he has tears in his eyes, like me.

"Twins?" I gasp.

Judy chuckles at our reactions, "Yes, would you like to know their genders?"

Me and Michael don't even need to confer with each other, and Michael grins at Judy, "Yes, we would love to know."

"Ok then," Judy scans a little more.

"You're gonna be having.. one boy, one girl."

"Yes!" Michael pounds the air with his fist in excitement.

"One of each," I whisper.

Then, as quick as a flash, Michael turns my way, and his excitement changes drastically.

He has tears in his eyes, but I think they're happy tears.

"Becky.. please say we can name the girl Alexa, and the boy Alex.." he pleads in a whisper.

"Of course," I smile. "But we need middle names. Alex and Alexa will be the perfect names."

"Oh, baby!" Michael hugs me tightly, not even caring that he's probably got the gel from my stomach over his shirt.

"So you're happy, Mr and Mrs Jackson?" Judy asks.

"Yes!" Michael pulls away from me, and notices the gel on his shirt. "Very happy!"

"Would you like some tissue to get that off?" Judy asks, a grin on her face.

"No," Michael replies, taking my hand in his. "It'll be my permanent reminder of the day I found out I would be receiving twins.. my fifth and six precious gift!"

"That's beautiful," Judy sighs, looking like she wants to cry because of Michael's happiness. "Anyway, I'll see you both during the next scan, alright?"

"Yes!" Michael squeals, and after we've washed the gel from my stomach, we make our way home, back to the kids.

*15 minutes later*

"Kids, we're back!" I call, and all three of them enter the hallway to greet us.

"Where did you actually go?" Electra asks.

"Out," Michael states the obvious.

"Where?" Dexter asks impatiently.

"To meet some people," I hint lightly.

"What people?" Ryder asks, folding his arms and tapping his foot.

"Come to the living room, guys," Michael leads us all into the living room, and sits the kids down.

"What?" Dexter and Electra ask in unison.

"So.. today, we went to meet two very special people," Michael explains. "We won't be able to meet them properly for about 6 months more, but once we do, I think you'll love them."

"We got pen friends or something? Cos if we have, I swear-"

"No, Ryder," I chuckle, and Michael places his hand over my stomach.

"In about six months time, you'll be meeting your new brother and sister," he announces softly.

Dexter and Electra take a moment to register this, but Ryder reacts straight away.

"A new brother and sister?" he asks in disbelief.

"Yes," I say.

"That's awesome!" he grins, before bending down on his knees by me, and placing his hands on my stomach. "Hey little guys, I can't wait to meet you!"

That's probably the sweetest thing he's ever done; he never did that with Electra and Dexter. Maybe he was too young to appreciate this.

"That's incredible," Dexter finally reacts. He's never been alive to hear this kinda news before; he's the youngest.

"A brother and a sister?" Electra asks.

"Yeah, one of each," Michael says.

"That.. I'm gonna have a sister, though? As in, a girl?"

"That's normally what a sister is, yes," I smirk.

"Finally!" Electra cheers. "A sibling that won't be an annoying boy!"

"You're getting another brother, too, y'know!" I remind her.

"Oh, I know! But I'm finally gonna get the sister I've always dreamt of!"

I look at Michael, who looks more excited than all three of our kids combined.

"They seem happy," I say.

"And so do I," he replies, kissing my lips once and gazing into my eyes. "I love you."

"I love you, but more," I reply.

"I love you more, but most," Michael grins cheekily.

"That makes no sense, you silly thing," I slap his arm playfully.

"Anything makes sense when you're happy and in love," Michael retorts happily.

"And do you feel that way?" I ask.

Michael gives me a look; it's a smile, with a hint of "are you serious?" in it.

"Of course! Because I have my Queen, my two already-born Princes, my already-born Princess, and my unborn Prince and Princess.. that's all I need to feel like royalty."

Author's note: I really don't care how cliché twins are in stories - more than anything, I did it so Michael could have Alexa and Alex :)
