You Give Me Fever - started January 26, 2015.

Hey, I'm Becky Summers! I live in Gary, Indiana, I'm 25 years old and I live a normal, happy life. I have a best friend called Jasper who means the world to me, my parents, and a boyfriend called Alex Measures. He's perfect; his icy blue eyes, blonde hair. We look like twins; I have blonde hair and blue eyes too.

We're gonna stay together forever. We've planned everything, we're gonna get married, have kids, travel the world, have such a happy life.

It's all gonna be perfect, I tell you.

Perfect.

"And we're gonna get married, have children, travel the world ... would you like to carry on, baby?" my boyfriend, Alex asks.

We're both currently sitting on the sofa at his house, Alex with his arm around me. We tell the same story every day.

We love it.

I smile and look into his eyes, "I'd love to carry on."

Alex smiles, "Go ahead baby."

I look down and imagine the perfect life.

"Then, we're gonna go to India, Africa, New York ... uh ... Majorca, England ... our lives are gonna be perfect," I conclude.

Alex smiles and shifts positions on the sofa. "That's right baby, we're gonna go to all those places and more. Our kids'll love it too. They're gonna be so educated in geography, that's for sure!" he chuckles.

I smile and stand up, "I'm lucky to have you."

"And I'm luckier to have you, baby. How about, tomorrow, we go out for a picnic?" Alex suggests.

I smile and nod, "That sounds perfect, baby." I kiss his lips once, and walk into the kitchen, grabbing a cookie from the cookie jar and nibble at it a little. "What kinda stuff we gonna take on this picnic?" I ask.

Alex comes up behind me and hugs me from behind, and kisses my cheek, "We're gonna take sandwiches, and cookies - enough cookies to make my baby girl happy, I know they're your favourite, uh ... we can take some lemonade, cake-"

"All very healthy stuff, right?" I chuckle.

Alex rolls his eyes and, still latched onto me, walks us back into the living room, "C'mon, it's getting late. I think we should go to bed now. It's already 11:30," he says quietly.

I nod, agreeing with him, "Yeah, let's go to bed."

Alex finally lets go of me and we walk up to the bedroom. We change clothes and get into bed, then Alex kisses my nose, followed by my lips.

"Goodnight, baby."

"Goodnight, Alex."

7:30am, the next day: 13 June, 1991

"Baby, good morning ... " Alex wakes me.

I turn on my side and groan. "Five more minutes, please ... " I plead.

My voice seems so quiet.

Alex chuckles. "Aww, who's a sleepyhead, huh? C'mon, up! We got the picnic today," he coos.

I turn my head Alex's way, "Ally, leave me alone ... " I demand weakly.

Alex smiles, "Aww, c'mon, get up baby." He takes the duvet from off my body, and I feel myself shivering violently.

"No! Stop it!" I cry, yanking the covers from his grasp, and replacing them back over me.

I turn on my side again, my back facing Alex. He climbs over me and lies opposite me. "Someone's being lazy."

"I'm not. It's perfectly normal to be tired ... and, actually, I feel a little sick," I retort.

"Aww, you better get better for our picnic today! We're gonna have cookies!" Alex whispers dreamily.

I groan again and lift the duvet over my face, "I don't feel good. Please stop talking about cookies," I beg.

Alex gets out of bed. "Oh, if you're that ill, I guess you can't come on the picnic with me," he taunts playfully.

I extend my arm out, hoping that I will hit his arm or something. But I miss, and I end up hitting the air.

He jerks back and giggles softly. "You missed."

"I realise I missed. Can I just have a few moments on my own, please ... ? " I plead.

He chuckles and nods, "Sure, baby. I'll come back up in a few. I'll bring you a cookie."

"No! No cookies. I feel sick."

"Alright. I'll bring something savoury up. And some cookies, just in case you change your mind. I love you."

"I love you too," I say, before Alex bends down to kiss my lips again.

"We're gonna have a perfect life, remember?" he asks.

I give a slight nod, "Once I feel ok again, for sure." A soft smile forms on my face.

He leaves the room, leaving me alone.

What's up with me? I feel sick, I'm sweating, shaking a little. I also have a headache and a little stomach ache.

Fun.

The five minutes go by quickly, as Alex already comes back. He's carrying a tray, with cookies and ... just cookies.

"I didn't know what else to get you, sorry!" he chuckles.

I take a cookie and nibble is slowly. Maybe eating'll help the sick feeling go away. My eyes move up to Alex's face. He's smiling sympathetically.

"Better?" he asks.

I feel compelled to say no, but I don't wanna upset him. He's tried to help me feel better, I gotta say yes ...

"Ye-" I start, but then I find myself running to somewhere, anywhere.

That "somewhere, anywhere" ends up being the bathroom, where I throw up violently.

Ugh, I bet it was the cookie. Stupid cookie. You were meant to be nice to me. Thanks very much.

I hear Alex coming into the room, then I feel my hair being lifted, to keep it out of my face.

Aww. Even when he's seen me at my worst, he still cares. That's so sweet.

"Baby, are you ok?" I hear Alex ask in worry.

I lift my head and frown. "Not really," I mutter.

He lets me lean my head on his shoulder, and he strokes my back.

"You're gonna need a doctor," he says. I nod.

"Ok. Will you book me an appointment?" I ask.

Alex nods, "Sure baby."

He leaves the room to call the doctors, and I make my way to the bedroom. I need comfort and I need warmth, so I get into bed and close my eyes.

Alex comes back a few moments later.

"I've done it. They said you can go right away. They're surprisingly not busy," he says. I nod.

"Thank you. You stay here, I'll be alright on my own."

"No, baby. I'll come with you."

"Alright. That's okay."

I get a few more moments of rest, then decide to get ready. I'm taking it slow, to make sure I'm not sick again.

Once I'm ready, Alex takes my hand. "C'mon, let's go."

We walk to the doctors and sign in. Not long after, my name flashes on the board.

"You stay here. I'll be fine from here."

"Okay; tell me everything when you're back."

"Of course."

I walk to the doctor's room. Room number 7.

I knock on the door and hear a faint "Come in."

I open the door slowly, and ... woah. Wasn't expecting that.

"Hi, I'm a new doctor here, so you're one of my first patients. Don't let that bother you, though. I know how to do my job. Nice to meet you," the doctor says, extending his hand out to shake mine.

"I don't think you wanna shake my hand, I've probably got germs on them," I say with a chuckle.

The doctor smiles. "That's alright. It's my job to get involved in germs; it's what I do!"

My eyes look the doctor up and down. He's got light skin, deep brown eyes, a slender build, and black curly hair.

"Where are my manners, I'm Doctor Jackson. I believe you're Rebecca Summers?" he says.

"Yes ... but I prefer Becky," I reply quickly.

My speech has gone real quick. I'm a little nervous.

He's rather good looking, I must say, but I have a boyfriend, so I should forget it. Forget it, Becky. The most you can be is friends.

"So, what seems to be the problem?" Doctor Jackson asks.

"Uh ... I was sick this morning. I have stomach pains, headaches ... um, I've been sweaty and shaky ... I don't know what could be wrong," I say.

Doctor Jackson smiles. "Have you got a boyfriend or a partner?"

I nod. "Yeah, he's in the waiting room. Why?"

"Have you had ... " He clears his throat awkwardly. "Unprotected intercourse?"

Wow, bit of a personal question.

I nod, anyway. "Yes. What's your point, doctor?"

"Have you taken a pregnancy test recently or at all?" he asks.

I shake my head. "No ... do you think I should?" I ask.

Doctor Jackson nods, "I think you should."

"But where do I get a test? There's like, no pharmacy near where I live."

"Oh, you don't need to worry about that. We have a few here in this building. In fact, I might have one in the-oh yes, here's one!"

He closes the drawer he's just looked in, and hands me the box.

"Just go to the bathroom and try. You never know," he says.

I swallow nervously. "Thank you. Can I come back afterwards?" I ask.

"Yes, of course. Take your time. I don't have any appointments after you," Doctor Jackson replies.

I smile faintly and leave the room. That doctor is a whole new kinda perfect. I thought Alex was, but damn. I never obviously knew what perfect was until today.

I walk to the bathroom and take the test. My hands are shaking, yet they're managing to cover the test.

I'm scared to look. Will it be positive or not?

I take a deep breath, before removing my hands from the screen slowly.

My eyes widen.

God ... Doctor Jackson's so good. He knew right from the off.

I am pregnant.

I walk back to Doctor Jackson's room. I open the door and he greets me with a smile.

"What was the result, Becky?"

"Uh ... I ... I'm pregnant. You were right ... " I mutter in shock. Doctor Jackson smiles.

"Congratulations. Maybe you should go tell the father," he suggests. I nod.

"I will ... thank you. Can I come back if the sickness doesn't go?" I ask.

Doctor Jackson smiles and nods. "Of course. I wouldn't mind seeing you at all. I make sure all my patients are cured and healthy. It's what I do."

I smile and head back to the door. "Thank you, doctor."

"Call me Michael. We're friends here, aren't we? You don't need to call me doctor. I'm sure I can live with my real name," he chuckles.

I nod, "Ok. Thank you ... Michael."

I close the door and head back to Alex. Michael is pretty perfect to be honest. But I have Alex. Alex'll be so happy to find out we're having a child.

I head back into the waiting room, where Alex is sitting and waiting.

"What's wrong with you, baby?" he asks. I lift up the positive test and his eyes light up. "You're pregnant?"

I nod. "Yes. Our lives are gonna start now. We're gonna have our perfect life," I say quietly, with a smile.

Alex lifts me into the air, and kisses my lips. "Yes! But my life already started when I met you."

He's so sweet.

We turn to walk out the doctors, but Michael walks by. He looks at me with a smile and waves. I wave back.

His eyes are lovely. A deep, majestic brown colour; so dark. I've never seen eyes like that before.

I have a feeling I'm gonna be getting sick a lot more often.
