Chapter 75: It's Been Forever

April 22, 1994

Becky's POV

After hearing that I only have a year and a half, tops, the use of Chemotherapy treatment has been used even more than it did before, to try and prolong my life to the furthest possible expectancy. I really do hope I last longer than a year and a half ... this is killing me inside.

Recently, Michael asked what my perfect day would be like. He asked so that he can give me that perfect day before I die ... but honestly, just the little things make me happy now. Despite this, I told him that I wanted a day with him, the kids, our parents, and Jasper and Charlie. After hearing about Lisa, I've allowed her to come along, too. I want to be surrounded by everyone I care for, for my perfect day.

And what is it we're doing? I hear you ask. Well, we're keeping it simple; each person is having a little time with me, and then at the end of the day, we're all gonna come together and have a little party at mine and Michael's house. It's going to be a wonderful day, but very tiring. Luckily, my dressing and scar aren't too bad right now, so I can enjoy my time.

First up today, is my parents. They've brought me to the local tea room, so we can relax and catch up. I think this'll be nice for us, as we've not really caught up in so long.

"So, who are you spending time with after us?" father asks, taking a sip from his tea.

"Jasper and Charlie. They're taking me to Facaccia's in town; it'll be great doing normal stuff again." My fingers drum lightly on the table, as I lift my mug up to drink from it. It's been forever since I've tasted the tea from this place – the last time I came here was during my childhood.

"Well, that's lovely Becky. You know, we're so proud of you, and we both want you to know that, sweetheart. You've become such a strong, independent woman," mom praises me, rubbing my arm lightly with her hand. A genuine smile is on her face, which causes me to smile too.

"Thanks, mom. And you, dad. You're the best parents a girl could have – no exaggeration." A hopeless chuckle comes from my lips, as I swallow the last sip of tea from my mug, "Uh, how about some cake? I-I'll pay," I offer.

Mom shakes her head, "We'll have the cake, but I'm paying for it. It's your day, honey, so you won't be paying for anything yourself, as far as I'm concerned." She rises from her seat, "Chocolate cake, sweetie?"

I laugh a little at her kindness, "Yes, please, mom. Thank you." Whilst I'm waiting for her to place the order, I speak to father, "You guys are being so brave in front of me," I tell him.

He gives a small, sympathetic smile, "We have to be, for you, sweetheart. You need a lot of love and support right now, so we need to focus on you rather than ourselves."

"I love you, daddy," I find myself saying.

He leans forward to kiss my forehead; the way he did when I was a child, "I love you too, baby. Remember you'll always be my little girl."

Mom comes back to the table with my cake, setting it down on the table and sliding it towards me, "Here you go, Becky. I don't wanna see a single crumb left," she teases, winking at me.

I snicker, lifting the cake up to my lips. "Of course, mommy," I play along, before taking a bite out of it.

--

"Darling, you should totally get that one! It suits you so good!" Jasper gushes, a huge grin on his face.

It's nice seeing his normal, bubbly self for once. Ever since I've had cancer, he's been more sensible, and I've hated it. I'm glad he's happier now.

"You think?" I do a little twirl, wearing the jacket I've just picked up from the shelf, "You really like it?"

"Yes! It looks like one of Michael's jackets; you'll match! Oh, how adorable!" he squeals, nudging Charlie's arm with his elbow, "Wouldn't it be so cute, Charlie?"

Charlie laughs, amused at Jasper's enthusiasm, "Yes, yes, it would be adorable, Becky. You and Michael matching? Very cute," he agrees.

Removing the jacket, I bite my lip to contain my laughter, "Why, thank you, boys. Maybe it'll be cute for Michael and I to match some time." I place the jacket on the hanger, placing it in my basket, "Which floor now?"

"Hmm ... the accessories!" Jasper answers, "We can get you a sexy little something to make Michael go crazy over you, girl!" He takes a hold of my arm, pulling me gently towards the accessories floor. Once we're there, he starts examining the shelves, "There must be something here that'll be just perfect for you, Becky!"

"What kind of things do you like?" Charlie asks me.

"Hmm ... I'm not really fussy. I'm down with anything," I reply, starting to search the shelves myself, "I really don't mind at all."

"Alright, then." Jasper explores the shelf next to mine for a moment, before squealing once again in excitement, "Oh gosh, Becky, I've found something perfect for you!"

He takes the item off the shelf, revealing it. It's a silver tiara, with baby pink gems arranged in a beautiful pattern around the front, as well as a few little pearls dotted around here and there. It's simply gorgeous; it looks like the tiara Michael gave to me for my birthday.

"Oh Jasp, it's stunning!" I gasp, taking it from his hands, before trying it on myself. It fits just right.

"There, see? Fits perfect! You've gotta get it for tonight! Michael will go wild for a sexy Princess like you!" Charlie jokes, earning a laugh from me. It's not often that Charlie is as crazy as Jasper, but when he is, it's such a joy to see.

"Alright, alright, I'll get it," I give in, bringing out my purse. However, Jasper pushes it back into my bag, leaving me confused, "Jasp, I have to pay for it, remember?"

He shakes his head, "Uh-uh, babe. I'm treating you to this one. Me and Charlie both are." He brings out his wallet, just as Charlie brings out his, "So Becky, how much is the tiara?"

My eyes scan the tiara for a price tag, but I don't find one. "There's no price on it," I tell them, looking back at the shelf. It's there that I find the price, and it causes me to widen my eyes, "No, no, I've gotta put the tiara back. It's way to expensive for you guys to buy for me."

"And what would that price be?" Charlie presses playfully.

"It's forty-three dollars. What tiara is that expensive?" I gasp, placing it back on the shelf quickly. Just then, Charlie brings it back off the shelf, "Charlie, what are you doing? C'mon, let's move on, now. Next floor."

"No, Becky; we're still getting the tiara for you!" Jasper retorts, "No arguments." The boys then make their way over to the counter to pay for the tiara, leaving me somewhat surprised. They're willing to pay $21.50 each for me to have a tiara? My God ... I can't believe how generous that is.

--

After spending time playing Snakes and Ladders with Jason and Ollie, it's almost time for the party. Michael is actually the only person I haven't seen all day, because my special time with him comes tonight ... if you catch my drift. Yes, it's exactly what you're thinking.

I'm wearing a red dress right now; the skirt comes just above my knees. It makes me feel prettier than normal – I've missed that feeling. Having cancer can really make you feel ugly, even if nothing about you has changed. I'm just lucky that I haven't had to have my hair cut off yet. Maybe I still have that to come, in future.

Jasper and Charlie are here with me, helping me with the final finishing touches of my appearance. Charlie even put a little make-up on me – I haven't worn make-up since mine and Michael's first date, almost three years ago.

Now I'm almost set, apart from one thing: the tiara. It still shocks me that the boys both bought me a $43 tiara ... but at the same time, it makes me feel special and loved.

"You're gonna look like a Queen once we've put this on," Jasper beams, sitting opposite me on my bed, "Stunning, I tell you."

"I still can't believe you bought me it," I answer.

He swats the air with his hand, "It's no big deal, girl. You're our best friend; of course we're gonna treat you. And besides, what other accessory could show everyone that you're the Queen, as perfectly as a tiara? There's nothing, Becky." He then lifts the tiara up a little, "Now, let's start your coronation, darling." He rests the tiara lightly on top of my hair, adjusting certain strands to make it look nicer, "There you go."

"Now, go downstairs to your King," Charlie grins, "He's been waiting all day to see you."

"Thank you guys. I love you both," I smile, bringing them both in for a group hug.

"We love you too, Becky. Never forget that," Charlie responds, his voice muffled against my clothing because we're all embracing.

Once we've all disbanded from our group hug, I stand myself up from the bed, as does Jasper and Charlie. We all make our way downstairs, but before I can enter the living room, Charlie and Jasper enter first, telling me to stay back.

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!" Charlie starts playfully, giving me an introduction, "We present the wonderful, stunning, fabulous Becky Summers!"

Holding back giggles, I enter the living room, hearing scattered applause from the few guests at the party. It's only the people I've been spending today with, but I don't mind at all. They're all I need. Amongst the light applause, I hear Michael speak.

"Gosh, I'm so lucky that she's my girl ... "

That one sentence, despite already knowing how much he cares, gives me such happiness. Even when I feel my worst, or I'm going through something awful, he knows how to put a smile on my face. That's exactly why I love him.

After my little entrance, I make my way over to Michael, who greets me with a slow, gentle kiss. I've not felt his lips all day, so feeling them now brings such joy and pleasure to my heart. Upon pulling away, Michael brings me into his arms, gazing at my every feature.

"My God, you're so beautiful," he says to me, almost sounding in awe of my appearance.

A small smirk plays on my lips, "Was that to get my reaction, or was that genuine?" I ask jokily, causing him to chuckle with me.

"Well ... I want to hear your phrase, but I genuinely meant it, too," he answers.

I roll my eyes and tut, "Right, of course. Sure."

He then pouts, sticking out his bottom lip, "Say it," he frowns. His hands caress my back, sending shivers down my spine from his touch.

"Whatever you say, Michael." My head leans against his chest, whilst my arms reach up to wrap around his neck. His arms remain coiled around my waist, his fingers tracing love heart shapes against the small of my back.

"Yep, that's the one. Boy, I'll never get tired of that phrase. You'll have to record it on the tape recorder, so I'll always have it to hear."

"That's a good idea." My head lifts up to look at him, "And ... I'll also have to pick my clothes and objects for when the year and a half is up."

He furrows his eyebrows in confusion, "What do you mean, sweetheart?"

"I mean ... I'll have to pick the clothes that I'll be wearing when I'm ... gone. And I'll have to choose the objects that will be buried or cremated with me."

Michael frowns, kissing the space between my eyes, "That's a negative thought, babe. Don't let that bother you right now; let's enjoy this party. It's for you, after all. Okay?"

I nod my head in agreement, "Okay. Let's enjoy this ... for me," I beam, finding it genuinely exciting that all this is for me to be happy.

"Has today been perfect for you, my Queen?" Michael questions, "I mean, the tiara clearly shows that you're royalty, Your Majesty."

I reach up on my tiptoes to kiss his lips, ultimately giving my answer to him, "Yes Michael ... today has been perfect. And tonight, it'll be even more perfect."

He smirks, "Hell, yes. Medication will be of a high dosage tonight, Your Highness."

Just then, Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You begins to play. It's been forever since I heard that song, and it's been forever since I've danced to that song with Michael.

And it's also been forever since I've been this happy ...

Hey! A happy chapter! :)
However ... only five chapters left! :(
But I hope you enjoyed this one. :)
