Chapter 34: True Love Endures

Five months later.

"Alright," Catherine sighed. "Did you pack everything?"

"I think so," Matt nodded.

"I'm going to miss you," Catherine pouted. "Have fun."

Matt pulled her close to his chest.

At the same time, their son kicked.

"I don't think Lucas likes being squished," Catherine chuckled.

Matt smiled and then frowned slightly in thought. "Lucas?"

"I was thinking about names," Catherine shrugged. "Lucas was my favorite. What do you think?"

"It's perfect," Matt agreed.

Cath nodded. "Well, you should go now, if you want to catch your flight. I love you, Baby. See you soon."

"I love you too," Matt smiled, pressing his lips to hers. "I'll be back soon."

"Alright," Catherine nodded as Matt shut the door behind him.

"He will be back soon," Charlotte smiled, wrapping an arm around her sister's shoulders.

"I know," Catherine sighed.

"Bye, Dad," Logan said softly.

"You ready, kid?" Catherine chuckled.

"I suppose," Logan sighed.

Cath sat down on the couch, pulling her son onto her lap.

Charlotte turned on Phantom of the Opera, and Lotte and Lizzy came running over to watch with them.

—————

"Hey, Babe," Mari sighed. "Have you seen Will's pacifier?"

"No," Josh sighed, closing his eyes. "Gosh, he just won't stop crying, will he?"

"He'll be fine once I find his pacifier," Mari shrugged. "Can you hold him for a minute?"

"Yeah, of course."

Mari gently placed the boy in his father's arms, and almost instantly, he stopped crying. "I should have given him to you earlier," she said, staring at the pair in wonder.

Josh stared down at William in awe. "I think I have super powers," he chuckled.

"I think so too," Mari laughed, kissing her husband's cheek.

"He's gonna be more clever than all of us," Josh smiled softly. "I can tell."

"Possibly," Mari chuckled. "Aw, he loves you."

"Not as much as my Amy," Josh chuckled.

"I don't think anyone could love you as much as Amy does."

"Maybe not. But the way I see it, she took all the love I have for her and all the love you have, and kinda bundled it up together. So when she loves strong, it's really just us loving each other."

"Yes, well, I think you need to start showing some of that love back."

—————

"Charlotte! Char, get in here!" Catherine yelled frantically from the kitchen.

"What?" Charlotte questioned, rushing into the room. "Wha- oh, gosh. We need to get you to the hospital. I'll call Carlos and have him watch the kids."

"No, no, I can't have the baby. Matt isn't here," Catherine moaned.

"We'll call him and tell him to get over here. Flights from London to Paris are only about an hour, so he should make it in time."

Cath nodded weakly. "I can't do this without him."

"I know. It'll be okay," Charlotte said comfortingly.

Once Carlos came to watch over the twins and Lizzy, Charlotte drove her sister to the hospital. "How are you doing?"

"I'm okay," Catherine sighed. "Call Matt."

"Okay," Char nodded, handing her phone to her sister. "You do it. I'm driving."

Cath quickly dialed the number.

"Hey. You've reached Matt Collins. Leave a message."

"Crap," Catherine muttered. "Matt, it's your wife. Listen, Babe, my water broke. I need you to get on the next flight to Paris."

"Voicemail?" Charlotte frowned.

"Yeah," Catherine moaned.

"Do you have his work number?"

"No," Cath whimpered. "Of course this kid had to come two weeks early."

"Just try calling Matt again," Charlotte sighed.

—————

Forty-five minutes later.

"Hey, Matt," the actress playing Anastasia frowned, picking up Matt's phone. "Your sister in law called you like ten times."

"Oops. I put it on silent for practice," Matt chuckled.

"There's a voicemail."

"Here, just press play," Matt said, tying his shoe.

"Okay," the actress nodded and listened to the voicemail. "Oh my gosh...um, your wife is in labor."

Matt dropped the prop he was holding to the floor. "What?"

"Matt, you need to go. Like now."

"I know!" Matt exclaimed.

"Here, take your phone, don't panic, and just get to the airport. Take this card and tell them Amanda James sent you. You can take my jet."

"Your jet?" Matt said in shock. "What?!"

"I'm a very rich woman, Mr. Collins," Amanda chuckled, pushing him away. "Go!"

"Thank you," Matt stammered, loosening his tie. "Thank you so much."

—————

One hour later.

"Okay, Catherine. You're ten centimeters dilated. We're going to take you to the delivery room," Jack nodded.

Catherine looked to her sister with pleading eyes. "Char, you've gotta come with me."

"Cath, I love you, but no. Just ew," Charlotte shuddered.

"Charlotte-Rose Angelina Daei, so help me God, you will go with me, or the last thing you see will be the bottom of a shallow grave."

"Fine," Charlotte said with wide eyes full of fear.

Jack chuckled. "I've always admired your temper."

Quickly, they wheeled Cath down the hallway heading toward the delivery room.

—————

Matt ran in through the front doors and to the front desk. "I'm, um, here for Cath. Cathy. Catherine Daei. Catherine Collins."

"They're taking her to the delivery room now. Are you the husband?"

"Yes, I think so," Matt replied, looking completely frazzled.

The nurse chuckled. "I'll take you to her."

"Thank you. Thanks."

The nurse took off at a fast pace through a set of double doors. "Dr. Taylor!"

Jack spun around. "Yes?"

"What now?" Catherine moaned.

"I got here fast as I could," Matt said breathlessly, running down the hallway towards his wife.

"Matt," Catherine sighed in relief, "you made it."

"Couldn't miss this," Matt laughed, holding her hand tightly.

"God, I love you so much," Catherine said breathlessly.

—————

Mari kissed her husband's forehead. "Cath's fine. The baby's fine. Everyone's fine. How are your legs?"

"Daft as ever," Josh sighed. "I'm glad everything's, though."

"I love you," Mari smiled.

"I would hope so."

—————

"Matt?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you," Catherine smiled, holding their newborn son in her arms. "We have this unbreakable bond and it's the most precious thing to me...My mother once said that true love endures. And...I understand that now. Because I have you, I know that, through anything, true love endures."
