04. A New Problem
❝ Me, jealous of you? Bless your delusional heart.❞
🍃
Tik Tok, tik tok,
The sound of the clock could be heard in the room amidst the pin-drop silence.
Siya was sleeping peacefully in her room.
Disturbing her sleep, some noises came from the door. She looked at the clock and it showed 2:30.
Abruptly getting up from the bed with a jerk she became shocked to see that the girl, whom she met in the morning, opened the door.
'No, I remember I closed the door. But then, how can she come in!' Thinking about that, she facepalmed herself, as to how could she forget that she had a roommate too.
Seeing the girl she felt something was off.
She wore a tight skinny dress with her hair open and heavy makeup was visible. She was staggering towards her with her eyes up and down from time to time. It seemed like she was in a drunken state.
Siya got up from her bed quickly and supported her body to stand properly. She shrugged her hand from her shoulder and looked at her weirdly.
"Hey...WhAt aRe YoU dOiNg hErE...?? DoN't u kNoW It'S mY RoOm. gEt OUt... I sAy GeT oUt!" she kept blabbering on Siya.
She tried hard to explain herself but she didn't bother to hear anything. The room was filled with the smell of alcohol and her weird waves of laughter.
Suddenly her eyes caught the attention of the Radhakrishna idol which was resting on the table lampstand in between their beds.
She made her way to the statue and grabbed it with her unsteady hands. She looked at that for some minutes and the very next moment she threw it hard on the floor making a ding sound and started laughing evilly. Fortunately, it was made of brass so it didn't break.
Now Siya's anger reached its peak. She couldn't stop herself and slapped her hard on her left cheek. She rubbed her cheek with her palm as it turned into crimson red due to the sudden force. Her drunken state vanished immediately as she looked at her with bloodshot eyes.
Siya landed on the ground beside the statue as she slapped her too that her fingerprints were unerringly visible on her cheek. She took her hair in a fist and forced her to look at her.
"What do you think of yourself huh? Queen! How dare you slap me! THE RIYA OBEROI, with whom the boys never dare to argue! If my dad becomes known about it he'll surely kill you FUCKING BITCH!" she removed her hair and got up making Siya on the verge of crying.
"If you're not here now, Danish will be settled in this room permanently. I talked with Mr. Agarwal, and he agreed too but you ruined it all! WAIT!" she continued when again looked at her figure. "... Or you are jealous of me that I'm the girlfriend of the most handsome boy on this campus?" she told her sarcastically when poking her nose. She felt disgusted by her touch but didn't say anything.
Riya went to the washroom when Siya stood up with her Radhakrishna idol. She observed keenly if it had any scratches but found nothing, she heaved a sigh of relief. Her cheek pained a little but all she focused on was that her beloved was safe.
She hugged it near her chest as tears were threatening to fall at any moment.
She never expected that.
When she left her house somewhere she felt happy that from now no one would gonna torture her anymore. Maybe she could get a good roommate and talked with her easily without any hesitation like she watched in movies. But what people think, never happens. Who knew something worse was waiting for her.
She winced in pain when her left elbow made contact with the edge of the table while keeping the idol back in its place.
She remembered, that when she was 13, her father hit her with a belt, just because she insisted on an expensive toy. Her mother tried to stop him but she also hadn't left from that.
Since then the mark was still there. She couldn't forget that horrible scene till today. She survived that day because her father's phone started ringing, or else it would be her last day on this earth.
Today Riya's incident recalled her memory of that night.
Her parents always tortured her mentally or sometimes physically. Her eyes became watery whenever she saw or read those father-daughter stories where fathers used to call them princess, baby. But unfortunately, she never felt that happiness.
People usually said that the daughter loves her father the most, but in her case, she never loved him nor she could understand a true father's feelings for a daughter.
Who said it was correct- Every wish doesn't get fulfilled.
She never wanted anything big or great, all she wanted was just to stay happy and live a peaceful life in her small world. But fate was never with her. Is it too much to expect?
She forgot the reason for being alive, she forgot to smile, she forgot everything. She never believed in love.
According to her, love is a beautiful illusion, which wasn't possible to get from those selfish people in this world. Love is based on faith and when her parents hadn't faith in her then how could she expect that she would get it from any other else! Love is a pure thing that only God is capable of.
So she always loved her Kanha, wholeheartedly, as she knew if anyone could keep the value of her love, then it was none other than him.
Sometimes she thought if she had anywhere door, she would run from this cruel world and stayed with her beloved in Vrindavan forever. But unfortunately, it could never happen.
Today when Riya hurt him, seemed like someone stabbed her heart with a knife.
But who cared? None!
Her trance was broken by the sound of the washroom door opening, revealing Riya. She didn't bother to look at her and went straight to her bed. Laying down she faced her back to Siya.
"Why did you throw my idol?" Siya went near her and asked her coldly looking away at another side. Riya got up from her bed and stood in front of her; crossing her arms over her chest.
"I expected that you must have come to me for an apology, but you know right, bitch always will be a bitch." She mocked her while turning her face to the idol.
"Keep it aside from my bed, I don't like such nonsense," Riya spoke, disgust was clear in her voice. How dare she!
"Look Riya I ju-" before Siya could speak, Riya pointed her index finger at her,
"Always talk to me with respect. It's Ms. Riya, for you, not Riya! Understand?" she calmed herself while simply nodding her head. "You better be."
🍃
It had been raining heavily since the morning.
Siya wore her maroon tank top with a denim jacket and jeans while putting on her black-colored round spectacles. Though she didn't fond of makeup, she always tried how to look simple yet beautiful.
She headed towards her classroom early as she didn't want to be late on her first day. Her heart was thumping hard against her chest while she fidgeting with her fingers due to nervousness.
Except for school, she continued her study from home, so it was quite difficult for her to accommodate the situation.
The raindrops fell harder and harder due to the gravity force. Anyone's mind would be happy to see the beautiful scenery around.
A shiver ran down her spine when the cold wind made contact with her warm delicate skin.
After a good 3 minutes of walking, she finally reached the classroom.
She entered with lowered head and took a sit on the second bench of the first row.
Soon the room filled with students, some were old when some freshers, when someone looked at her weirdly or rather gossiped secretly.
She concentrated on her books until the professor came.
Everyone greeted him when his eyes stopped at Siya. Nervousness drowned on her.
"So, Ms. Siya Chauhan, will you like to introduce yourself?" Professor Jha asked her. She stood up from her seat and started introducing herself while the whole class kept staring at her.
"...I'm a student who..." She tried to speak out loud but due to anxiety, it all came out as a cracking whisper. Everyone started laughing at her when someone gave her a pitying look. Embarrassing situation!
"What's the fun into this?" Professor scolded them and gestured for her to continue.
"Sir, I'm a student who lives in Bangalore city with my family. All my friends are from the city too. Like many people who are residents of the town, my family also has migrated from North India to come and settle here. I did my schooling in 12th in a school in the city. Like many people, I've always wanted to be a doctor so now I'm preparing for my NEET exam by coaching in this institution to fulfill my dream and I believe I can do it." Siya completed when the whole class applauded along with the professor.
The classes went on like this and it was break time when Siya walked towards the cafeteria to fill her empty stomach.
She ordered an espresso, her all-time favorite drink while standing near the window.
Sipping it she drowned in her deep thoughts.

Have anyone felt such an embarrassing situation?
How's Riya's first impression to you?
