Fear (Part 1)
Tumblr prompt (kinda): "You don't fear me? Well I'll make you a believer tonight."
Note: This one isn't really a shipping one-shot, sorry. But I still hope you enjoy it!

It was time for little Evan to go to bed, though he didn't want to. He wanted to stay up and watch horror movies since it was Halloween and he had finished trick-or-treating, but his parents wouldn't let him.
"But moooooom," Evan whined, "I don't wanna go to bed! Can I at least watch one scary movie? Please?" He tried to use his best puppy eyes on his mother.
Sadly, it didn't work, as he was still sent to bed. He pouted the whole way to his bedroom. "Goodnight, dear." His mother said, kissing his cheek.
"Night mommy!" Evan replied, grabbing his owl plushie.
"Don't let the bed bugs bite," she whispered before closing the door.
Evan tried to fall asleep, but couldn't. He just wasn't tired.
So instead he decided to play with 'Bat Owl' on his bed. Evan giggled as he quietly got out of his bed and grabbed his raccoon plushie, which was Bat Owl's sidekick, Batcoon. He got back into bed and was about to start when he heard something. Evan stopped and listened. "Mommy?" He asked carefully.
Silence.
"Who's there?" He asked again. Evan heard a light chuckle coming from somewhere in the room.
Since he was a curious child, he grabbed the flashlight that his mother had gotten him and turned it on. Evan looked around the room with it once before getting off the bed and looking underneath it.
He saw nothing there, just a lot of dust and some books. Evan giggled and got back onto his bed when he heard the chuckle again. This time, he saw what it belonged to as well.
A pair of glowing blue eyes were watching him from his closet. Every time he turned his flashlight towards the closet, the eyes disappeared. So, he turned it off as an attempt to get whatever was in the closet out. "Don't be scared, I won't hurt you."
The thing slowly came out to reveal that it was a person; or what looked to be a person. He had a blue hoodie and a mask that looked like it was from one of the horror movies that Evan begged his parents to watch.
"Who are you?" Evan asked. The man laughed again and sat on the edge of Evan's bed.
"I'm the monster that hides in your closet and under your bed. I'm the thing that brings you nightmares." It grinned. Evan just giggled.
"You're not a monster!" The thing glared at Evan before crawling closer to him.
"You're not afraid of me? Well I'll make you a believer tonight."
Before the thing could do anything, however, Evan reached over, lifted the mask up and kissed it's cheek. The thing stopped in it's tracks. Evan giggled. "I like you. You're funny!" It stared at Evan, unblinking. It then fixed its mask and sat up right in front of Evan.
"You're not actually afraid of me, are you?" Evan shook his head.
"No. I don't see why I would be. Hey, wanna be friends?" He asked. The monster tilted his head to the side, confused.
"Friends?" It asked.
"Yeah, friends! But first, I wanna know your name. My name's Evan! What's yours?" The thing blinked.
"I... I don't have a name." Evan frowned.
"You don't? Well, I'll give you one. How about... Jonathan! You can be Jonathan!" The thing processed this for a second before repeating the name.
"Jonathan..." Evan giggled.
"Since you're my new friend, and since your here, wanna play with me?" He asked.
"Play with you?" Evan grabbed the owl plushie.
"Yeah, play with me! I don't ever have anyone to play Bat Owl and Batcoon with! I have Mega Monkey and Early Bird, but they're not here. You can be Batcoon since I'm Bat Owl!"
He handed 'Jonathan' the raccoon plushie. Jonathan took the plushie and looked at it. "Now come on! We have a city to save!" Evan said enthusiastically.
The little six-year-old jumped out of bed and onto the floor where the toy city was at, with Jonathan slowly following suit. He found that it was actually enjoyable playing with Evan, which surprised him.
Halfway through the game, however, Evan fell asleep. Jonathan chuckled and picked up Evan and the owl plushie. He tucked Evan in, putting the plushie in Evan's arms.
Jonathan smiled to himself and ran his fingers through Evan's hair before kissing his head. "Goodnight, Evan." He whispered before going back into the closet to hide. Evan smiled in his sleep, dreaming of adventures with his new friend.
