Chapter 1 : Cloudburst

Cloudburst : A sudden, heavy rainfall that comes without a warning. Often combined with thunder and lightning.

There was something just peaceful about listening to music, lying on my back looking up at the murky sky. I sat up and surveyed my surroundings.

It was a cold and dull Friday evening and I knew it was going to rain any second from now. Scotland was indeed very cold and rainy but that just increased when it was an autumn evening.

The usually green hills had splashes of orange and yellow and though I was supposed to be studying up here, I couldn't help but admire the beauty.

Studying. Though it was something that usually relaxed me and kept my mind out of things, it was definitely not working today. I was reading the same lines for about eight times when I decided that it was very useless to study now. It wasn't like I lagged behind in class or anything so it was fine. In fact I wasn't able to concentrate in anything for a while now.

And I knew exactly what the reason was.

I knew it had everything to do with a certain someone I had seen that night roughly two weeks ago. At this point I think I was going crazy. His music involuntarily filled my ears whenever I closed my eyes, his green eyes coming to my mind everytime I saw anything green, be it the trees, mountains or even a seeing lettuce in my burger reminded me of him.

And unfortunately Scotland had a lot of green,

Heck, sometimes I'm left wondering if I was hallucinating that night or something. It might be possible too, maybe the big man upstairs felt bad about my nightmares and decided to do something nice. Yep, that's it.

But still my mind liked to play tricks on me and I had been so desperate that I had gone back to the beach every single night for the past two weeks but he wasn't there. So I just sat there from midnight to early morning, dozing off from time to time but it did make me feel safe, secure. Something I hadn't been feeling for a while.

I was broken out of my thoughts when a droplet of rain fell on my cheek, and soon it began to rain heavily and as much as I wanted to stay there and enjoy it, my books would get wet so I half heartedly got up and packed my stuff.

But before I climbed down the the small deserted highland, I did manage to capture a picture with my camera that I meticulously carried everywhere without anyone knowing. And I knew it would go to my large book lying under my bed which had photos of everything I loved, mostly sceneries or places that is close to my heart.

And this place was definitely one of those. So very dear to me, my hideout, this and the beach.

Hastily scaling down, I got into my car parked below the highland and just then my phone rang.

I looked at the screen and sighed when I saw the name flashing. Home.

I ignored it like I did as usual and was about to switch off my phone when it rang again and Willow's name flashed on the screen.

I smiled faintly already knowing that it was probably one of her mayday calls for white chocolates or ice creams.

"Hello drama queen..." I drawled.

"We have an emergency." She said seriously.

"Oh? And what is it? Did all the supply of chocolate that your boy hoarded in our fridge get over?"

"No, I have more than enough but the ice cream is over.." she said I could almost imagine her pouting from here, probably with a book in one hand and chocolate in the other.

"Ask loverboy, I'm sure the guy would jump down a cliff if you asked without any complaints."

"But he's at the hospital and I don't want to disturb him." She mumbled sadly

I think he'll love to be disturbed as long as it was a girl with very long hair.

"Fine, how about a movie night today?" I asked, anyway I was done studying.

"Ofcourse, come fast." She said hurriedly and hung up and judging from her tone, she had definitely done something stupid.

Shaking my head lightly, I started the engine, driving off to the nearest supermarket to get some ice cream and other junk food that we both loved eating so much.

Ten minutes later I drove into the parking lot of a supermarket and after luckily getting a spot, I parked my car and got in. A thing I hated about going to a supermarket I wasn't familiar with was the fact that I didn't know where the things I wanted were kept and me being the impatient human that I am, often got irritated and grumpy. That was exactly why Will or Ellie did the groceries most of the time.

It wasn't like I knew how to cook or anything though I was pretty good at baking if I do say so myself. But you can't really live off cakes and cupcakes all your life.

And I definitely oppose to that.

Mentally doing a happy dance as I spotted the ice cream section, I skipped down the aisle eager to get some sugary goodness.

Countless number of ice creams sat before me and I felt my eyes glittering at the beautiful sight in front of me. Though I had seen many lovely sceneries in my nineteen years of life, nothing compared to this one.

Okay, I may have a slight addiction but that's justified. After barely resisting the urge to buy them all, I started picking up our favourites one by one.

Butterscotch for Willow. Check.

Cookies and Cream for Ellie. Check.

Dark chocolate brownie fudge. Dark chocolate brownie fudge. Where in the world is it?!

And just then I spotted one, on the counter on the opposite side.

I felt my lips stretching in an excited grin.

Skipping to the aisle, I greedily extended my hand to pick up the glorious piece of heaven but another hand collided with mine. A very manly hand.

My eyes travelled up his slender fingers, to the sleek and muscled arms and then finally to the electric green eyes which gazed into my black ones.

Wow. It was totally unfair how some people got features like that. And why the hell was this guy so damn tall?! Again injustice to us short midgets.

I discreetly checked him out, trying to keep my breath from faltering but my heart definitely did skip a beat as I observed him, his skin a delicious colour of light caramel, full, sensuous lips, curly unruly hair sat on top of his head which was covered by the grey hood of his hoodie, sleek muscular body, and a strong sharp jawline.

And those goddamn sweatpants, he should be banned from wearing those.

Wait. I know that face.

It's the boy from my dream.

I froze. My eyes never straying from his beautiful face, I felt my palms going clammy. For the first time in my life, I felt butterflies in my stomach.

I almost scoffed at that thought. As if I was ever going to love someone. Or be loved for that matter.

I wasn't capable or deserving of love. I knew that myself, everyone around me other than Willow made sure that I was reminded. Even Ellie. But I couldn't hold it against her forever because I knew it was true, though it didn't hurt any less when she said that.

"Excuse me, miss but I grabbed it first." The gorgeous ice cream stealer said, rudely bringing me out of my self pitying thoughts.

"I saw it first." I said quietly, slapping his hand away.

Look mister even though you're extremely delicious looking, I find my ice cream even more delicious.

"But I reached here first," He mumbled, his hands slowly inching towards my ice cream.

I again slapped his hands away, "Look, this is my favourite one and why can't you go and get another flavour." I mocked.

I've lost all self control at this point. No one dares to come between ice cream and me. Not even

"I don't fucking care. I grabbed it first and so I get it." He whined like a child.

"Not happening." I said firmly.

"Please," He said, widening his pretty eyes innocently,"I'm having a terrible day and it'd be very kind of you to let me take my favourite ice cream. And very noble too." Finishing his dramatics with a pout.

I think he and Willow would be great friends.

"Ha, let me think..." I said, tapping a finger on my chin and pretending to ponder deeply making his eyes glint with hope, "How about....no." I spat.

Just as he was about to reply, a voice interrupted us.

"MOMMY! I GOT THE BROWNIE ICE CREAM!" A high pitched voice screeched and we both quickly looked ahead to see a little boy about six years or so waving the ice cream tub in front of his mother's face, ranting excitedly.

No.

My Dark chocolate brownie fudge ice cream.

I snapped my head to the side and glared at the man who was responsible for my loss.

He smiled nervously at me, taking a step back.

"Fuck. You." I spat and stomped down on his foot making him scream and clutch his foot, muttering curses.

I gave his hunched figure one last menacing glare and made my way to the counter, throwing in a tub of dark chocolate ice cream. I guess this would have to do today.

What a wonderful way to start my weekend.
