How we met part 2
That night after that encounter with that man, I went on with my life. Walked around town, went swimming in the river and even went to late night movies with boys Zera would set me up with. It was nice, but I couldn't stop thinking about the handsome man. It was about two weeks and I thought I'd never met him again, maybe he was too good to be real. This is what I thought about when I took my normal stroll around the small city. I passed by the small shops, watched the cars pass by me and heard the horns from the nearby factory signaling break time was over.
I crossed the street near the factory, it wasn't the best thing to do, but it was a shortcut to the local park I loved going to. When I step foot on the ground, I already head the whistles from the men looking at me. I don't really blame them, I was wearing a rather short dress that came halfway to my thighs. I waved at them and gave them a cheerful smile, but when I didn't expect to see was the man from the carnival. It can't be.
When he saw me, he pushed through the crowd of hounds to come over to me. He looked so good in his wool shirt and pants, but the thing I liked about him the most was his cap. "Hey, I know you. I met you at the carnival right?" I nod my head to him. He got a smirk on his face that made me blush a little. "Mavis right?" I couldn't believe he remembered my name, but I'm not surprised it's a very unusual name.
"Yes, how did you remember?"
"Secret."
We don't speak for a little bit, but it wasn't weird at all. Having him near me made me feel safe, despite not knowing a single thing about him. "Well, I guess I should be leaving, I don't want to take you away from your work." I wave goodbye to him and start to walk off, but he grabs my hand. "Wait just a sec okay?" He takes off over to the crowd of guys that were watching us. I wasn't sure why he wanted me to wait. He jogs back over to me, with a huge smile on his face.
"Alright, I'm free for the rest of the day."
Free? Did he just leave work early for me?
"Where you off to anyway?
"The park, there's a shortcut through the factory."
"Great, lead the way then."
He takes my hand and starts walking, his hand felt so warm and not sweating from just coming off work. It was a new feeling, something that I've only dream about. We made it to the park and lucky for us, it was completely dead, not a soul in sight. The sun was setting, it was hitting the river just right making the water sparkle. The air was starting to get cold and it was nipping at my legs.
"This place is beautiful, I love coming here when I visit my friend."
"Visit?"
I nod my head while sitting on the bench near the river. He sits next to me, then looks to the water. "My mother was born here, she loves it here in the summertime. I met Zera when we were younger cause her mom and my mom were best friends in high school and college. She's more of a sister than a friend."
"Have you ever thought about staying here?"
Looking over at him, I see something interesting is his eyes, the burning question was hanging off his lips. I felt my breath hitch in my throat, just the sight of him made me blush all over my body. "I-I don't know, I don't really have a reason for wanting to stay here." He kept bringing his body closer to mine till his head was just above my shoulder, the breathing between us was quiet but heavy. "I can give you a reason to stay if that's what you want." The small gap was closed between us just as the sun was setting, it was almost movie like. He cupped his hands on my cheeks and I melted into them, it was as if something inside awakens when he kissed me.
"Mavis, spend the rest of your time with me, okay?"
"Okay."

A few weeks after that kiss, I spent almost every day with him. Not because he told me to, but because I needed too. I would leave the house and walk quickly to his work so that way when he gets off we 'd be the first thing he sees. I heard the loud sound of the bell telling everyone work was over. He was with some of his friends but when he saw me, I ran right to him and jumped into his arms. I repeatedly kiss him saying over and over that I missed him so much. He waved his friends off and took me and him out to the sidewalk. "You want to get some lunch?" I nodded my head, I started to get out of his grasp but instead, he held me tighter and ran to a nearby restaurant.
We spent the rest of the day having fun, eating ice cream and even going down the lake with Zera and her boyfriend, I didn't know how the day could get better. Zeref was walking me home for the night, we passed by many shops, some already closed. I was doing my normal window shopping but stopped when I saw something I just needed to have. I let go of his hand and went right into the store.
"Mavis, what are you doing?"
I was looking on the shelves of the many small stuffed animals, the ones I had my heart set on was a pink and brown one a matching set. "Zeref, look how cute these two are." He bent down as well and picked up the brown one. I took the pink one and admired how the hot pink bow brought out her eyes. "They're very cute." Zeref was looking at every detail, while I was admiring how soft the pink one felt. "I really want these..." I heard him sigh and put the bear back up on the shelf. "I know, but I can't get them for you, I'm sorry." I set the bear back up on the shelf then take his hands into mine. "It's alright. Don't worry. We should get going." I walk him out of the store so we can back to my place.
The next few day I didn't see much of Zeref, his friends said he was really busy and would often stay over to finish extra work. I felt like he was ignoring me, maybe he felt embarrassed cause he couldn't get me the bears and he didn't have the nerve to face me. I spent most of my days in my house just writing or have dinner at Zera's house. I was putting on a happy face but inside I was so sad and lonely, I just wanted to see him like before. I would still go to his job the same time but when someone saw me they shake their head. I knew what they were saying he's working overtime again, I waved bye to them and left feeling sad. As I walked the path home I looked in the window was the bears are, but this time I saw them not there anymore.
"No, they can't be gone. Wh-dang it!" Now I can't have my bears...
I walked home even sadder, first no Zeref for a few days and now the bears are gone. I really just wanted to hid under the covers and not come out for a few days. I hit my street and walked up to my house, but this time something was different, I saw Zeref standing there with a big box in his hands. "Zeref I thought you were working overtime again?"
"No, I'm done with overtime at least for right now."
"What does that mean?"
"Open the box and you'll see."
He held the box out to me and I took the top off of it. Inside were the bears holding hands. I pulled them both out so happy to see them together, but something was off, the brown one had a small chain around his neck. I looped my finger around it then felt something. What I saw was a ring with a small diamond in the middle.
I looked up, with mist in my eyes. "Zeref, are you-"
"Yeah, I want you to be with me forever. So, will you marry me?"
I didn't answer him with words but by actions, a jump in his arms and kiss.
