"Hey" a voice said, being greeted with a knock on Mariah's door. An unknown redhead walked inside of her room closing the door behind him.

"Who the fuck are you?" Mariah questioned. "If Bruce sent you, you can walk out that fucking door."

"Relax, Bruce didn't send me, Jason did," the unknown man replied.

"Who even are you?"

"I'm Roy, Roy Harper" the man now known as Roy replied.

"Oh so you're Roy?" Mariah said with a teasing tone, almost like she knew something Roy didn't. That didn't last long as her voice became more defensive. "So they decide to send the addict to talk to me? I'm not an addict, I can stop whenever I want." As Mariah spoke she began to feel nauseous and like her skin was crawling.

"That's what they all say Mariah."

"Well it's true" Mariah defensively stated as she began to scratch at her skin.

"Jason wanted me to come here to speak with you, as you know I'm an addict and if you're willing I would like to sponsor you" Roy was nervous asking Mariah considering she was the first person he would ever sponsor. He hid his nervousness with false confidence, not that she could tell the difference in this state.

"I want Jason," Mariah spit out.

"I'll go get him" Roy exited the room and called Jason when he picked up Roy immediately spoke, "Hey Mariah wants to see you"

"I'll be there in a minute, five tops" Jason hung up. Roy stood outside of Mariah's room for five minutes till Jason came, and walked into the room leaving Roy outside.

"Roy said you wanted to speak to me"

"Why?" Mariah questioned

"Why? What do you mean why? I should be asking you why." Jason replied, trying to keep his anger under control.

"Why did you send Roy, why are you trying? I'm a fuck up and I don't deserve this Jay!" Mariah raised her voice.

"I care about you, you're my little sister Mariah and we all care about you. Don't push us away!" Jason yelled back.

"Fine! You want me to agree to have Roy be my sponsor?"

"We all want you to want help, we can't make you want the help"

"I'm not ready for help Jay, I don't need it"

"Roy can help you see that you need help, If you agree I will let you go back home, you can leave the hospital." Jason tried to bribe Mariah, which worked but he will later realize he shouldn't bribe someone to be sober.

"Only if I get to leave the hospital, deal?" Mariah held her hand out waiting for Jason's.

"Deal" Jason shook Mariah's hand.

just a smaller chapter today but
it sets up the focus of Mariah's sobriety.
you shouldn't bribe someone to get sober,
jason's desperate and keeps comparing mariah
to catharine which doesn't help, which he will soon
realize.
