"Get back here you bitch!"

"Charlie go to your room now, and hide in our safe spot, okay?" I rushed out pushing Charlie towards his room. "Charlie go now!" I yelled when I looked back and saw that he hadn't moved an inch. Charlie turned around and ran out of view.

"You stupid bitch!" Derek Parr yelled at me as soon as he saw me.

He grabbed my arm, and threw me down the stairs. I tumbled down the flight of stairs, attempting to curl into myself so I wouldn't break something. I hit the floor hard, slammed against it with my back and left arm.

Pain shot up my arm. I think I broke my arm. Was my first thought.

All of a sudden something crashed into the window. I instinctively covered my face with my right arm to keep the glass away.

Then I hear Derek's shout of pain and grunts. I pull my arm away, only to see a flash of red and black beating Derek. A clear view of red walked towards me.my vision going in and out, probably a concussion, I think.

I flinch away when something comes near my head.

"Are you okay?" the figure in red asked as they reached me.

"I'm fine," I replied, trying to brush off the pain.

The figure reached out a hand and offered to help me up. I hesitated for a moment, but then reached out and grabbed it.

"Thank you," I said as I was pulled to my feet.

"You're welcome," the figure said. "Let's get you out of here and check out." I hesitate when I hear Derek yell out to me, then I think of Charlie.

"Oh my god," was all I said before rushing upstairs to Charlie.

I hear the person yell out to me then a set of footsteps running behind me. I get to our safe spot and see Charlie curled up with headphones.

I reach out to grab him but flinch in pain when I try to move my left arm. "Charlie!"

He looks up and runs into my arms while taking off his headphones.

"Mom! Are you okay?" He questions even though he knows I'll lie to him.

"I'm okay baby, I'm okay." I lie trying to make him feel better about the situation.

He suddenly yelled out in excitement before running to the masked figure in red and black.

"Oh my god! I can't believe it's you." Charlie yells as he hugs the figure. I try to pull him back so they aren't hugging but Charlie won't let go till the man hugs him back.

"Oh, hi little one," The masked figure spoke. His voice sent shivers down my spine. He slowly hugged Charlie back. Then whispered something in his ear, Charlie came back to me smiling brightly.

"Mom! This is Red Robin, one of the vigilante's!" Charlie informs me all excited.

"I know, you talk about them all the time baby, isn't this exciting." I speak up trying to mask my pain and sadness. Putting Charlie's feelings before me.

Just as Red Robin was about to speak up, another masked vigilante came up the stairs.

"Sorry to break this party but Gordon's on his way, we should go Red."

Charlie shouted in excitement again rushing off to go see the new vigilante. I see Red Robin move closer to me out of the corner of my eye. He took a moment before deciding to speak.

"Let's take you guys outside to get checked out by the paramedics." Red Robin spoke to me.

I walk down the stairs with Red in front of me and Charlie and the new guy behind me. It made me feel a bit better knowing Charlie was safe and happy because of me.

I honestly might rewrite this chapter, i don't know yet, thoughts?
if you don't know , or haven't pieced it together yet, elias cooper (my oc) is the one with tim during this encounter. I recently added him to the cast for this story.

also before i forget, i am making a second book to this but it follows elias cooper, and damian, who is elias' love interest. keep in mind damian is eighteen to nineteen in this series and elias is twenty two to twenty three. so it's not that big of an age difference but i still had to address that before someone comments isn't damian thirteen.
