Sn1 Ep2: Hawk and Dove-Part 8

3rd Person POV

Amy walks into her apartment laying her gun and badge on the counter, grabbing a glass, then a wine bottle out of the fridge. A teen girl, crouched in the corner of Amy's living room, starts sobbing

Amy quickly turns around, completely thrown off a stranger is there, "What the fuck?" She pauses for a moment before approaching the girl, "Hey, you okay? What's your name?"

The sobbing stops as the girl slowly stands, turning around with a sadistic smile and a knife. "I don't have a name. Where's your partner and his girlfriend?" She asks while slashing out at Amy's hand. Amy yells in pain as a teen boy comes up behind her with a bat and hits her in the back, sending her to the ground. "Tell us."

"Where are Dick Grayson and Alison Kyle?" The boy asks.

"Where's Dick Grayson and Alison Kyle?" The girl repeats. Amy starts trying to drag herself away from the two psycho teens. "Tell us where they are." The girl bends over and grabs Amy by her hair.

"Where are they?" The boy echoes. The girl stabs Amy in the arm and smiles once again. Amy weakly tries reaching for her gun but the boy easily pushes her hand down with the bat. The door opens as Amy cries.

"You sneaky kids," A man's voice rings out. Amy looks up to find an adult man and woman. "Didn't save any fun for us."

"We can still have some fun dear," The woman says cheerily, taking one of Amy's knives and bends down to Amy's level, "Can't we?"

Alison's POV

We let Rachel cool off for a bit before Dick and I go to her room. Dick knocks on the door but I push past and enter. He sighs sitting on the bed beside her as I close the door and lean on it.

"I'm sorry. It's getting worse," She says quietly.

"You don't have anything to be sorry for, Rachel," Dick tells her.

"Yeah, that was a pretty cool trick," I smirk at her.

"I'm the one who should..." Dick starts but doesn't get to finish because of a knock on the door.

I huff, having to move, and Dawn steps in, "How you doing, sweetheart?" Rachel smiles softly to her. "Hank is sorry. He can be a real asshole sometimes."

"All the time," I correct her.

"We gotta go," Dawn moves on. I look out to the living room, since the wall is glass, and see Hank putting on his jacket. "Hank and I have that thing," She looks at Dick dead in the eyes then does the same to me.

"I wouldn't," I warn her. The computer doesn't lie.

Dick jumps up, "Dawn, I really think you should reconsider. Okay? We all know it's too dangerous."

"You win some, you lose," She shrugs it off and goes over to Rachel, "Take care of them, okay? They need all the help they can get," She tells her.

Rachel smiles, "Okay." Dawn looks at us one last time and leaves. "She needs your guys' help. I can feel it," Rachel tells us. Dick looks up at the ceiling. "Isn't that what you two do?"

"What?" He turns to her.

"You help people," She looks up to us in admiration. I let a laugh slip. Now where the hell did she get that idea?

"I don't think so," I shake my head.

Dick chuckles, "I used to think so," He looks back at me before grabbing a stool to sit on. "I used to think it was one of the things I was best at." He was.... keyword though, was. "Until I realized the more help some needed the worse I had to hurt others." He's talking about being Robin. "Do you understand?" He asks Rachel whose face turned serious.

"Sometimes, when I feel the darkness come out... it feels good," She admits. Exactly. That's why you don't suppress it, it'll just get worse. Something Dick never understood.

"I understand," Dick tells her.

"You want to help them," Rachel assures, "You both do," She looks at me, "You're just scared. Sometimes there's just no time to be scared. You can't let your fear control you, you control it," She repeats what we told her at that diner. I nod, smiling to myself, well played. Dick stands, turning to me, and juts his head to the living room, then leaves.

I go to follow, but Rachel stops me. "You feel different than he does," She states. I turn to her. "You're not afraid like he is. You're afraid that helping someone makes you vulnerable. You're afraid that when you help you'll just get turned on," She looks sad. I don't want pity.

"You know nothing about me," I snap.

"I'm sorry," She pauses, "I saw Dawn try to help you..." She admits. What does she mean? "You think that if you help her she'll return the same reaction you gave her?" My body tenses, is she talking about a couple years ago? There's no way... right?

I sigh. "I know if I help it'll do more damage than good. It'll be like the old days," I can't believe I'm saying this out loud. "But it's not the old days, and it never will be..." My vision goes blurry for a second. I clear my throat and look up to the ceiling for a moment, shaking off whatever just came over me."But they'd just fuck it up without me," I finish, a smirk forming. I turn to leave again and this time Rachel doesn't stop me.

My wrist is grabbed as soon as I shut the door. I meet Dick's eyes which are filled with hurt. I swear if he eavesdropped-

"We need to talk about it," He says determined.

"No. I don't have to do anything with you, for you," I say sternly.

"Please," His voice cracks, "It's suffocating me."

I hum, then rip away from his grasp. "Maybe you should've thought about your guilty conscious before now."

"I have, Alison!" His voice raises slightly, "God, I have. It's all I've thought about for the past two years." I look away. I would like to be anywhere but this conversation right now.

"Well, you're two years too late, Dick Grayson," I conclude, pushing past him. "I'll be in the car."
