⚔️═𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 ═⚔️

Its been two days as both bf were given bed rest. They were not allowed to give strain to their body especially lyra.

But Jungkook had barely been awake for a full day, his body still aching from the battle, yet his thoughts were elsewhere.

Lyra.

The moment he was steady on his feet, he made his way to her chamber, ignoring the disapproving stares of the royal physicians. He wasn't in the mood for rest. Not when Lyra had nearly died.

Jungkook moved toward Lyra's chamber, his steps slow but steady. He could still feel the ache in his muscles, but it didn't stop him. He needed to see her.

As he reached the doorway, he heard a familiar voice inside-lighthearted, teasing.

"Don't think you're getting out of this so easily, Lyra. You scared the hell out of us."

J-Hope.🌚

Jungkook paused, leaning against the frame, listening.

Lyra groaned dramatically. "You act like I died."

"Well, you almost did," J-Hope shot back. "And Jungkook nearly tore the world apart because of it."

Lyra chuckled, though it was weaker than usual. "That dramatic idiot."

Jungkook rolled his eyes but couldn't hide the small smirk that tugged at his lips. He pushed the open the heavy oak door, stepping inside.

The room was dimly lit, the golden glow of lanterns casting soft shadows along the walls.

J-Hope turned first, a knowing grin on his face. "Speak of the devil."

Lyra's eyes lit up the moment she saw him. "Took you long enough."

Jungkook scoffed. "I had to make a grand entrance."

J-Hope laughed, shaking his head. "I'll leave you two to your emotional reunion."

As he passed by, he patted Jungkook's shoulder, his touch firm, reassuring. Then, with a wink at Lyra, he slipped out.

Jungkook watched him go before turning back to Lyra, taking her in-her tired eyes, the bandages wrapped around her, the stubborn glint that hadn't faded despite everything.

"Well, well," she croaked, her voice hoarse but teasing. "Look who decided to show up."

Jungkook exhaled sharply, relief washing over him like a tidal wave. "You're alive."

"Disappointed?" Lyra smirked, but the strain in her expression didn't go unnoticed.

He exhaled, moving closer. "You really are an idiot."

Lyra grinned. "Takes one to know one."

Jungkook sat beside her, shaking his head. "You scared me."

Lyra's expression softened. "You scared your self.

He didn't deny it. Instead, he reached for her hand, squeezing it gently. "Just... don't do it again."

She squeezed back, her grip surprisingly strong. "No promises!."

Jungkook huffed a laugh, the tension in his chest easing just a little. Lyra was here moreover She was alive.

"Don't push your luck, idiot," he muttered, gripping her hand tightly.

Lyra blinked, the raw emotion in his voice. For once, she didn't have a sharp remark ready.

Jungkook squeezed her fingers before pulling back. "You should've been more careful."

"Oh, excuse me, Mr. 'Let's Rip the Lord's Head Off in a Storm of Rage" she shot back. "At least I didn't single handedly summon a goddamn hurricane."

Jungkook rolled his eyes. "Not my fault the sky listens to me."

Lyra huffed a laugh, but it quickly turned into a wince. Jungkook instantly reached forward to adjust the pillows behind her, his touch gentle.

She watched him in silence for a moment before speaking. "I saw it, you know. The way you fought. It was..." She hesitated. "Terrifying."

Jungkook's expression darkened. He knew what she meant. He had felt it, too.

The power that had surged through him in that moment. The way the storm had answered his fury. It had been exhilarating-and horrifying.

Lyra sighed. "But it also saved me."

Jungkook looked at her, and for once, there was no arrogance, no teasing glint in his eyes. Only quiet sincerity. "I would do it again. Without hesitation."

Lyra smiled faintly. "I know."

A comfortable silence settled between them. Jungkook leaned back in his chair, suddenly feeling the weight of exhaustion creeping in.

His eyes flickered to the bookshelf across the room, a small smirk forming on his lips.

"Do you still have that ridiculous novel I gave you?"

Lyra groaned. "You mean the one about the pirate prince and his 'tragic love'?"

Jungkook snorted. "It's a classic."

"You have a terrible taste in books."

"You have a terrible taste in friends," Jungkook shot back, grabbing the book from the shelf. He flipped it open, settling in comfortably. "Now shut up and let me read to you."

Lyra groaned again, but there was a small, grateful smile on her lips as Jungkook's voice filled the room, reading her the words of a story he had probably read a hundred times before.

Outside, the palace remained tense, the aftermath of the battle still looming over its halls. But in that small, quiet moment, in the warmth of candlelight, Jungkook and Lyra were simply two friends, healing in each other's presence.

And for now, that was enough.

From the shadows just outside the chamber, two figures observed the scene with unreadable expressions.

Taehyung and V stood side by side, both silent as they watched Jungkook and Lyra.

"He nearly lost her," Taehyung murmured, eyes locked on the scene inside.

V's gaze was cold, yet something flickered beneath the surface. "And in the process, he nearly lost himself."

Taehyung sighed, arms crossed. "He doesn't even realize the storm inside him is growing stronger."

V tilted his head slightly, smirking. "That storm is his greatest strength."

Taehyung shot him a sharp look. "Or his greatest downfall."

Neither of them spoke further, but the weight of their words lingered. The tension between them was palpable, each twin carrying their own unspoken thoughts about the boy inside the room.

Then, as silently as they came, they disappeared back into the shadows....watching, waiting.

Because the storm was far from over.
