  At a young age Cynthia Blaese discovered the effects of manipulation. She learned from her parents. Cynthia learned a lot from them even though they were barely even around. She learned love wasn't real, or at least they made her believe that. Love didn't exist, it wasn't a normal occurrence. It was a fairy tale, made up to make kids feel better about growing up and becoming adults.

When you grow up in Crime Alley, Gotham City, you tend to believe these things. Parents constantly arguing or beating each other. Drug addicts roaming the streets that kids run away on. Alcoholics drinking their problems away while prostitutes look for their next job. Pedophiles look for their next victims.

Crime Alley showed kids that nothing was good, life wasn't a good thing. It showed the kids what they'll look like in twenty years. Cynthia Blaese and Jason Todd could both testify to this. They both grew up in these circumstances, however, they both got out of it too. Jason Todd was adopted by Bruce Wayne. Cynthia Blaese was kidnapped from home and sold by human traffickers to Ra's Al Ghul without even knowing it.

Cynthia left the house of manipulative and abusive parents to live with hundreds of murders at Nanda Parbat. Jason left the streets of Crime Alley to go live with a billionaire vigilante and his adoptive son.

Both so similar yet so different, in the end they turn out the exact same but only one becomes like their parents and the other watches their past repeat themselves.
