originating from the hyperian royal house de andreis, she is currently 'governing' house valaryen as a ward of a sorts. as seraphina sees it herself though, her surname is de andreis and is the one she was born with, and therefore her allegiance, love and loyalty will always go to her family's house.

her brother and her brother alone is permitted to call her sera. to everyone else, she much prefers her first name. that being said, she much prefers to stay alive and keep her head so she'll probably tolerate whatever names the crown prince wants to call her.

currently, unmarried. however, before hyperia fell, her parents were considering plans for your typical royal betrothal, you know for the sake of alliances, bloodlines and politics, the like. obviously, this never ended up going anywhere because they just had to fight a war, lose a war and get conquered. currently she is competing for the prince's hand but most importantly, to reserve the right to keep her head. update, she's given up on that, currently plotting rebellion.

believe it or not, cliche as it may seem, but seraphina's personality is the exact embodiment of her fiery curls and fiery gift, yet somehow managing to be even more fiery in spirit than either of those things. courageous and confident, growing up in the kingdom of hyperia, of a more liberal ideals than that of the northern elyria, she was relatively free to speak her mind back home and this has only served to cultivate the princess's personality as one who will tend to be honest, to the point of being brutal, unafraid and unashamed to share whichever opinions she has. now of course, since moving to highcourt and being brought up by the valeryens, and later, transferring to the elyrian capital of ivairis, she's mostly learned to keep her tongue under control and not speak out as randomly as the redhead may have used to. for the most part, seraphina is better at managing not to blurt out whatever thought or opinion is on her mind, but every now and then, something snaps and she'll sort of go out on a tangent. the young woman definitely has a sort of temper, your typical hyperian hothead at times, regardless of her position or reduced amount of power, it is wise not to anger her as she can physically be, quite intimidating and in general, very unpleasant to deal with.
seraphina tends to be a bit... impulsive to say the least, growing up a princess has given her just the tiny bit of a superiority complex, and accordingly, she didn't ever really see the need to quell her manners and 'tame' herself. headstrong, the young woman carries herself with a sort of brazen aura of regality. like why yes, her kingdom was conquered, and yes she could die any moment, but why do you care again? stubborn and determined, combined with a natural pride in herself, her people, her country has made for quite the volatile blend and seraphina still has the scars on her back to show for one of the times her obstinence was not the help, but rather the hindrance. the hyperian princess can be competitive, especially when she wants something quite bad, but she is by no means ruthless or cruel when going about it. seraphina were she not born female, would make quite the excellent knight, subscribing to the old school ideas of chivalry, at time her honor and charm can out surpass even the most valiant of knights.
she can even be surprisingly humorous, though more often than not, this is an accidental trait, seraphina has a sort of zest for life that makes her a very appealing persona. the most shameful emotion to show in her mind is that of fear, and so while at times it may seem prudent to bite back whatever stinging retort or response she has in mind, seraphina would be hard pressed to ever admit she's afraid to anyone. and well, for the most part, she's not afraid. seraphina does however have a burning ambition to live, a rather relatable, human emotion mind you, so if playing nice is what it takes to achieve that goal, yeah she'll try simmer down. certainly not a subtle personality by any means, seraphina is no master manipulator at all. despite this fact though, when she bothers to actually stop and think before talking, the nineteen year old does have quite the avid gift with words. from sarcastic silver tongued quips, powerful motivating speeches, seraphina has the potential to a good monarch. now if only her emotions weren't so... wild. and of course, if only there wasn't a death sentence over her head and her kingdom conquered. what a shame.
𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔
seraphina, naturally, being the princess of the kingdom of flame hyperia, and blessed with her copper colored curls, has power over water. just kidding, she can manipulate fire. obviously. her gift tends to be stronger with her emotions and downright dangerous with her temper, seraphina doesn't exactly have the best control over her gift, but she's learned to have a good enough grasp to avoid giving herself away and getting burned for being a witch. though that would be quite the interesting sight, to see them attempt to burn her, considering she can manipulate fire, seraphina is also fireproof, with enough concentration her clothes are as well, so yeah that would be interesting to say the least, people attempting to burn seraphina for her magic. but well, she supposed, if they're desperate enough, and they probably are, they could always just drown her which would be decidedly unpleasant. so yeah, seraphina keeps tight enough control over her ability to avoid detection. sometimes though, she'll lock herself in her room, start a fire in her fireplace and just amuse herself by making the flames dance this way and that, into beautiful shapes, fiery daggers, whatever.
𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚
seraphina brunhilde de andreis's life started out normal enough, well as normal as a princess's life can be. she has one older brother and a few younger siblings, who she's not seen since hyperia fell. born in the southern kingdom of hyperia, the kingdom of light, of fire, of sun and summer, here, sera flourished, happy as the humblest of sea birds, joyously riding the wind wherever it chose to take them. hailing from one of the southernmost nocteran kingdoms, the young woman grew up with trips to the beach constantly, enjoying the sandy shores very much, despite how much it clashed with her whole gift. in fact, the beaches hyperia are quite possibly her favorite place to be in the whole wide world. for here, there is no need to worry about losing control and burning down, for the water is a simple leap and bound away. here, there is plenty of space to romp around and roam without the watching eyes of... practically anyone, most notably, hyperian nobility, silently judging her every move. given that no one in the hyperian royal lineage prior to seraphina and her older brother, the crown prince his highness and one day to be majesty, there wasn't anyone to help the princess train to use her unpredictable, at times a little uncontrollable gift and when younger especially, she struggled gratefully with it.
to this day, seraphina will occasionally have troubles, particularly when her emotions are running rampant, so the redhead will play it on the completely safe side and not even bother summoning a spark, lest it turn into an all consuming blaze. terribly inconvenient things, especially given the fact that she's now in the thick of elyrian court. growing up in veres, while not the most liberal of kingdom, happy sunshine and rainbows sort of place, was forward thinking enough that sera had the freedom to learn and attend many of the same lessons that her brother did. learning kingdom governance, economics, finance and all about trade, though the original intention was in anticipation of the day their princess would hopefully make an advantageous political marriage for the good of all hyperia, sera also went to the same classes in 'warrioring' that her brother went through. and perhaps this is one of the reasons hyperia is relatively liberal, especially compared to the northern kingdom and later, empire of elyria. gender equality, sexuality exploring whatever were all very fine, because the main worries in hyperia are, one is the child physically fit and athletic, if yes, can they fight and if no, why haven't they learned to fight yet? yeah... anyways, it was growing up, starting at around age seven sera learned to use various weapons and blades, though her favorite and best by far is certainly the sword. it's sort of a flashy weapon in a way, yet deadly depending on one's mindset, matching to sera's personality wonderfully.
hyperia, your typical hot weathered warrior kingdom utopia, not for the delicate of heart that's for sure, but since seraphina had a spine of steel and heart of fire, it suited her perfectly. and life was good. until three, four years ago, when seraphina was sixteen. when elyria decided to get greedy and take their neighbor's stuff. gosh. such a shocking thing for a medieval kingdom, note the thick sarcasm. however, hyperia was a kingdom of warriors, and they did not bow down idly and wait to be conquered. whereas the other kingdoms of nocterys, fell within months of each other, starting with sweet vallarys, than proud cydonia and finally, shifty eriden, it took an entire three years before hyperia finally admitted defeat. which, one must admit is quite the great feat considering they were one nation against a rising empire, with access to the resources and reserves of the previously fallen kingdoms. it was seraphina's sixteenth birthday in fact, the day hyperia officially fell, the castle stormed, her family taken away from her, save for aurelius. yeah... suffice to say, she certainly didn't celebrate that year. actually, ever since that cursed sixteenth year, seraphina has not acknowledged or celebrated her birthday since. it would forever be remembered in her memory as the tragic day noble hyperia fell. aurelius and seraphina were then sent to technically 'govern' house valeryen, aka enjoy the pleasure of being honored guests, aka, highly valued hostages, brought to high court where they've spent the majority of their past three years.
seraphina's time with house valaryen has been... less than pleasant, with the rebellious princess constantly clashing with the brutal head of houses. still, exceedingly salty from the loss of hyperia, for the first year or so, sera chafed and chuffed against any form of orders or authority, being generally chaotic and unhelpful during lessons and causing mayhem. at one point, sometime when she was seventeen, she even dared to steal the jewels of lady eilena valaryen, after enduring one too many cleverly concealed insult. naturally, she was caught. seraphina expected a reprimanding, maybe loss of whatever meager privileges, maybe even a slap. what she got were scars. iron chained leather bounded whip. since that moment, she's fought to keep her temper under control, not wanting to go through that again. every now and then though, sera slips up and earns more scars across her back, where they're easily concealed by silk dress. because of this, she doesn't dare wear backless gowns, especially because doing so would draw even more outrage from the valaryens. seraphina wants to survive. wants her brother to survive. wants hyperia to rise again. and, so she'll do what she must for this goal. though courting the son of stefan the seventh was not what she expected and she honestly doesn't know where to start. not effortlessly flirtatious the way other nobles are, especially these elyrian ladies, her current plan is to prove and show all the reasons she'd make a way better queen than everyone else.
glad i didn't listen to my teacher...
𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔
being magical blooded herself, seraphina most definitely does not condone the witch hunts at all. the idea of being burned at stake is an unattractive one, though with sardonic humor in the past, upon hearing about elyria's witch hunts, she's fantasized about the look of utter frustration if the persecutors ever came for her and attempted to burn her. which, would not work well. still, she understands there is an intimately alive danger for her should anyone in elyria find about her powers, and that elyria is familiar in plenty of other ways of execution. to sum it all up, the redhead dislikes the witch hunts, finding them cruel and the tools of a man scared by magic he does not understand and cannot hope to possess. but she harbors no personal hatred or super special resentment towards them, these things having not affected her personally. as for sexism, this has never really been a problem in hyperia, where your worth is determined by your merit, so she is against it for sure.
though, being a princess from a liberal minded kingdom, seraphina has always occupied a position of power. coming to elyria where woman have significantly decreased power and where royal titles can't help one keep their head, is a huge change to her. every so often, she'll forget her place and snap out, so hopefully, the hyperian princess is able to keep it together enough not to spectacularly screw up because there's a lot more than just her own life dependent upon her. she is definitely against sexism finding it stupid and backwards, especially given the other foreign kingdoms are proof that a kingdom need not oppress woman to be successful, in fact, they've functioned just fine with woman in position of power. further proof that the problem lays with the elyrian system, not with woman empowerment itself. of course, she can't even express these views now without death, how tragic.
finally, onto the subject of homophobia, again, this isn't something she's encountered or seen in hyperia. in her mind though, it's a bit silly to worry about who one chooses to 'get intimate' with as unless you're a royal and responsible for carrying a bloodline, it doesn't affect you at all. oh wait... she's a royal and should she not die, be responsible for carrying on a bloodline. simply lovely. especially given the fact that, she finds most men in general, a repulsive species. time spent in elyria has only enforced this idea if we're being perfectly honest.
𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒔
seraphina used to have a variety of pets back in hyperia. sadly, she has since been separated from them, and the strict stuffy valaryens denied her from getting any new ones. that being said, she was kind of a sort of straight up brat to them, so hmmm i wonder why. sera would love to get a pet in the future, though with this whole high likelihood of death thing, that doesn't seem as though it will be happening any time soon. how tragic, oh well.
𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕
chaotic good. seraphina is as chaotic as they come, every bit as wild as the fire she can call upon, but at the end of the day, her heart beats towards the light, having the good of her people, her family and her kingdom in mind at all times. but then again, they do say history is written by the victors and most unfortunately, hyperia does seem to be losing, so who knows what will happen? maybe one day, she'll be painted as the villain. probably not. most likely she'll die a death not worth noting which is something seraphina is trying to avoid thank you very much.

➺ skilled at a variety of weapons, her favorites being the sword, spears and daggers. she doesn't quite have the patience for archery, and when under pressure, her wrists used to spark up. after burning a lot of wooden bows when younger, she gave up making that her principle weapon.
➺ her zodiac is a leo, go figure. pretty much as stereotypical as those under the lion horoscope come. really, she's quite the poster child for your hyperian lady. though, she's proud of this. she may live in elyria now. but as long as she lives, which hopefully won't end anytime soon, seraphina will always have a hyperian heart.
➺ stupid stupid stupid. she leads not with her heart, for she is not a romantic. definitely not her head, as you shall soon see. but her soul, this is what she leads with. her morals, her compass, what she knows in her heart to be the right thing. also, leads with the thirst for the sweet sweet taste of revenge. aka, she is not here to play the elyrian king's game. she'll play her own even if it gets her killed.
