i came up to get me some...

the younger twin daughter of bellatrix black and rodolphus lestrange, she has one twin sister cerberus lestrange who is about an hour older than her. she has a half sister, pandora riddle lestrange, technically two with the other turning out to be keres riddle lestrange but she is not talked about much. she has two cousins, children of rabastian lestrange her father's brother. she grew up at the riddle lestrange house, in a very strict, professional pureblood hierarchical family, raised with the idea of family duty, pureblood superiority and the necessity of ruthlessness to get what you want. 

𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆

megaera certainly has mastered the villain aesthetic, it's something she has nailed to a t. with naturally dark eyes and even darker hair, she is on the pale side adding to the affect that she is not getting much sleep. which, is honestly true she does not get the most amount of sleep. any scars from battle she has from battle are not visible to the eye, giving the appearance of quite the skilled duelist. which mind you in the first place, she has few scars but any that she does have are concealed quite well. with a slender build that is averagely curvy, she stands at a fairly average height of five feet four inches. however, however unremarkable her height may be, this definitely does not detract from her ability to intimidate when she chooses. overall, megaera has an incredibly elegant style to her, reflecting her personality. 

clothes are always a comprehensive colour palette, and she does have a penchant for jewelry but nothing she wears is ever needlessly ostentatious, unless there's a purpose for said display of wealth. a lestrange, her clothes may seem simple at times but one should not forget she is of a very old, very wealthy pureblood lineage. at times she may choose to don clothes simple in appearance, but look closer and you will find they are nothing of the highest quality. the young woman is fond of wearing heels with a sharp point to them, relishing the height it gives her and the general aesthetic of it. usually she likes to match or coordinate outfits with her sister. whatever clothes she's in, you just know that's not going to slow her down at whatever she chooses to do.

a key word to describe megaera brigid lestrange would have to be controlled. at least, on the surface that is. internally? naturally she isn't so very much so. externally though? she is nothing if not the picture of perfect poise and grace. the wizarding world might not have a monarchy but among the pureblooded elite things might as well have the same level of formalities. good at concealing the contents of her mind and keeping that from colouring her expressions. megaera is a shrewd liar, skillful at coming across with neutral and uncaring  apathy towards most things. more than that, megaera has long mastered the art of giving quiet reactions to everything, making it near impossible to tell when she is being dishonest with you, as she has no tells when she is telling the truth, no giveaways when she isn't it's all the same. megaera can tell a lie, megaera can keep a secret and it is worth mentioning that as a powerful occlumens, the content of her mind stays there, locked up unless she chooses to share it with someone. 

observant, she notices much and anything she might miss, she has ways of finding out. although she is not the best at faking emotions of cheeriness at times, she does have quite the elegant, graceful way of responding to just about anything, possessing quite the cool, confident, most importantly constant composure. beneath that still, steely facade though? is an... interesting mind.  to be honest, it would come as no surprise to know that she likely does have the same brand of insanity that characterized her mother, although she is quite excellent at appearing functional on surface, perfect picture of praise and professionalism. yeah, it must be said she isn't the most sane at the end of the day, and doesn't have the same hesitations when making decisions that others might. heavily influenced by upbringing and those she grew up surrounded by, traditional ideals of morality, compassion and kindness being missed on her. megaera is ambitious as she was taught to be, perhaps even a little more than her parents would have intended her to be, there is no doubt that if she was to place the sorting hat on her head, it would place her in slytherin as with generations of her family, both black and lestrange. 

cunning and resourceful, an avid problem solver and ruthlessly efficient in what is asked of her, megaera strives to be nothing short of perfection, definitely a determined sort of person. this all comes as a product of the family she was raised in, a subtly competitive environment where she always was rather lacking in attention and any received isn't exactly the warm and fuzzy feeling sort of affection every child hopes to have when younger, before the brutal realities of the world have been broken into them. having a lack of a good aligned moral compass means that she really isn't above utilizing any means that seem necessary in her eyes to get what she wants, whether magical means or more manipulative. on the inside, like her name sake, she can get quite furious. but her rage, is one that burns cold and for a long time, an icy sort of burn, able to be tempered and twisted into adamantine blade to use as a weapon. 

megaera means jealous and i have to admit, the twenty one year old can be quite bitter. all the attention's always gone to her half sister and she tries not to resent her half sister herself, who has been nothing but kind to her it's just... hard. mostly though? this bitterness is directed a bit towards her parents, her mother in specific, though she manages to cover up any traces of this seething with sweet smiles. megaera is incredibly loyal but only to certain things. she holds a genuine loyalty, love and respect for her older twin sister, cerberus and would go to the ends of the earth for her. towards her twin, megaera is almost... human. just a normal young woman with how she acts towards her sister, it's clear her love for the other runs deep. she isn't necessary protective in the same way cerberus is towards her, because she knows her twin is quite capable of defending herself. but she can be rather possessive of her twin even if it isn't necessarily obvious to see. 

cerberus has always been the main light of her life, likely the only form of love she's been exposed to, so no surprise there, megaera has a fierce attachment to her twin. i hate to say it but she might not show it, however she likely can and will get easily jealous when other people seem to get close to her sister. she wants her sister to be happy yes this is true. but megaera is of that single minded tunnel vision thought process that her sister doesn't need anyone besides her twin to be happy. i mean, all megaera has ever needed for happiness is her twin, why shouldn't it be the same for cerberus? yeah, this is going to cause problems just you wait. unhealthy dependency and clinginess to her older twin? yes. either way, megaera does genuinely care for cerberus don't you ever try to convince cer otherwise or there will be hell to raise. mess with or cause cerberus any harm or unhappiness and you can expect a vengeful sister hot on your trail. megaera is the name of one of the avenging furies after all. her twin is probably the only one who can genuinely temper megaera's strong willed independence streak. 

she's loyal to the cause as well, it's not like she is about to go fighting for the other side now. however, she does recognizes the problems within the new order and maintains her own ability for free will and judgement. born in the midst of a thunderstorm and to the crack of lightning, it's no surprise that megaera brigid lestrange is an absolute storm of a person. proud and prim, she is not one to be underestimated or overlooked, never mind that's all her mother seems to do. megaera has plans. big plans. she wants to be the one worth watching some day. she wants to be the one with the power, the prestige. really, it's just a twisted need for attention, affection and recognition, two things she hasn't really been shown by anyone apart cerberus to be perfectly truthful. 

one may say she's the stereotypical slytherin, eyes on the prize and well... they're not wrong. but she honestly, has virtues that could be alluded to all the houses. intelligent and with a keen mind, when she's not fighting or running errands, she's probably studying some arcane form of magic or another. megaera is proud and this transforms into courage, she rarely feels fear, rarely feels most things deeply. either way, she isn't about to show it, won't show anything other than aforementioned facade of finesse and adroitness. and she is willing to work hard for the things she deems worthy. she was born into this world to be one thing and one thing only. an antagonist, a villain, the bad guy. and megaera intends to play her part and play it well. it's all she really knows how to do and well she isn't going to surrender the one thing she is good at now is she? 

𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒔 

her twin ➺ obviously. there is nothing megaera cares for, loves or likes more in the world than her twin. often times, she'll make detours on her 'family errands' to find some new trinket, treasure or toy to bring back for cerberus. life with lestranges teaches materialism, and cerberus certainly has a plethora of gifts from her younger twin indicating her devotion. this includes a variety of books, a few curious looking dark objects and quite a few pieces of jewelry megaera thought looked cool and to compliment some of her own things she's found. 

recognition ➺ similar to attention but not exactly. she's not flashy and desperate like some people. however there is no denying the fact that megaera does enjoy getting recognized, whether it's for actions she's done or causes that she's seen created. honestly, she's been sort of recognition starved for a good amount of her life no doubt this fuels into it.

red ➺ sorry gryffindor you don't own the colour red now anymore. megaera does. the colour of luck and blood and war and passion and roses, red is a statement colour. it's bold and decisive and commanding. on a cosmetic standpoint, the young woman does look quite stunning in red. it is her favourite colour for a reason now. 

chess ➺ megaera enjoys a game of wizard's chess here and there. she is not above cheating with her legilimens talent but at the same time, she also doesn't look in others heads at time just to give her a genuine challenge. when she does intrude on others minds during her little chess games, she does find it quite fascinating, getting to watch another's thought process and strategy. it's all quite the learning experience to say the least. 

fine attire ➺ a more materialistic love that's for sure but what can she say? the lestranges are nothing if not wealthy, megaera's family has money on both sides and she's rather cleverly set herself a trust fund outside of the family's money. she always appreciates high quality clothes. they don't necessary have to be fancy, but she aims for more than just functional. really when choosing clothes she chooses what feels good to her. she also has a weak spot for jewelry, especially jewelry with hidden compartments for poison and other magical novelties. 

𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒔 

pastel colours ➺ a stereotypical dislike but they're just overly flashy, annoying and bright for her. i would go so far to say they hurt her eyes but megaera has fantastic eyesight so that would be alluded to just supreme distaste. while she appreciates a nice clean white, you won't catch her wearing pastels or decorating with those putrid, baby shades. if you couldn't already tell, she's about the farthest thing from cottagecore.

being overlooked ➺ haha this is a tough one because she's been overlooked for much if not all of her life, save exceptions. megaera hates being overlooked or feeling overlooked. similar to this intense loathing, she also does not enjoy when others get credit for her own actions, or when others take an idea of hers or 'improve' upon a thought which was always here. of course, there's not much she can really do about it here besides give a graceful smile and move on. but there is certainly no forgetting. 

judgement ➺ this one is a bit hypocritical as she is likely to make all sorts of internal judgments in her own mind towards you but she hates the feeling of being judged or scrutinized. what makes it worse, that more often then not, when concentrating hard enough she can literally tell if she is being judged. she doesn't like when people criticize her choices, her family or get "preachy" on her. just stop. you don't know anything about her life or what it's like or what she's gone through to get to where she is now. and if you keep up the judgement, you'll likely be too dead to find out xoxo. 

voldemort ➺ now this one is a secret. while she isn't going to be disloyal or anything, as a person itself she does not care much at all for tom marvolo riddle. he's pretentious, he makes rash decisions and lets personal grudges get in the way at times. voldemort has a dictatorial control over the new order and while she gets the point of that, it can be chafing to be under. most importantly, she thinks he's wrong, placing all his faith in her half sisters as 'evil's great hope.' don't get me wrong, she doesn't necessarily hate pandora's guts. but megaera just knows the truth. pandora is weak and she will fail the dark lord inevitably. and that's okay. if only he would see it now. make no mistake this dislike of voldemort is not at all due to morality, and she will not be switching sides anytime soon. 

getting insulted ➺ a perfectly human dislike yeah? megaera despises getting insulted. most of the time, they're not even particularly good insults that apply to her. it's the assumptions others make and the sheer audacity that really rifles her. she is good enough at concealing her temper in real life and giving out cryptic, threatening one liners when sending messages but just know, that this will not do anything to endear you towards her. at all.

megaera is skilled at most forms of magic involving charms, curses and jinks. she has been working on wandless magic and is quite good at nonverbal magic. a skilled duelist, her specialty is undoubtedly combative magic as she has stellar reflexes and really, no sympathetic influence slowing her down. as expected given her mother, the infamous bellatrix lestrange, she also has an affinity towards the dark arts and darker magic. apart from this, she is a talented legilimens and occlumens, able to breach the mind of most people who aren't trained in occulmency and shield her mind or at least parts of it from even voldemort himself. she prefers magic that involves a wand, and is decent at potions. subjects that don't involve use of a wand for magic she's never had too much patience for, if she ever went to hogwarts, likely she'd struggle in divination, herbology and care of magical creatures greatly.
