the tools

The first chapter, of course, covers the apps required for designing.

So, I'll list the apps I use for theme designing in the order I use them.

» Pinterest

A very familiar app that most of us use. You can collect face claims, backgrounds, overlays, filter codes, and so much more. I love this one, but I hate it when it never shows the exact source I need when necessary, yet I find them all when I'm randomly scrolling- help!

Side note: be careful not to download a designer's actual theme :') (this might happen while collecting sources for psd themes. Look for unfiltered and free ones)

» Pngtree

It has a vast collection of overlays, templates, and backgrounds. Though more resourceful for graphic designers, it does have some good overlays for theme designers as well.

» Remove bg

I use this one to remove the background of face claims or any large typography piece. It's very helpful and cuts down the time considerably.

Side note: might blur out the images a little, so don't forget to use clearing apps later.

» PicsArt

The best app I could suggest for theme designing. It has some paid features, but you can use it well without them too. You'll get backgrounds (not of much use, though), stickers, some filters, and much more.

Side: might glitch at times, though not as much as other apps, but when that happens be sure to save the design asap before you lose It.

» Polarr

The soul of theme designing lol. I feel my themes are incomplete without filters TT

These apps have loads of filters in it. Using it after editing the theme completely will enhance your edit and blend in everything so well. You can create your own filters as well.

Basically, It is before makeup look > After makeup look concept

Side note: Though due to many features being paid it can get annoying at times. Somehow my broke self has a premium of it so I don't find trouble with this app;')

» Lightroom

I use this app to adjust the light and colour settings of the theme. I don't use it much these days since Polarr already does the job well.

» Phonto

I don't use this app much for themes. However, it is helpful for typography themes, though creating desired text overlays for the theme here can be time-consuming.

» Remini

This is a must if you are obsessed with using multiple filters on one theme, like me ☠ as using more filters can reduce details. I recommend using Remini at the end. It clears the picture very well.

Side note: need a high-quality network and might take time. patience ~~

» ibis Paint X and Canvas

Many theme designers do use these apps, but I rarely use them.

I do have more apps in use, but they are for graphic design. So, that's it for now.

note: next up will be a tutorial on colour schemes and manip themes. If you have any more questions or designs to be discussed you can comment on »
