⁴⁸, VISITING THE HEADMASTER

𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍.
chapter forty-eight; Visiting The Headmaster
Trust me, no one's stopping four pissed off witches unless they have a death wish. "

ONE WOULD THINK a large group of friends wouldn't get any work done. They would claim to be studying, but would be chatting and laughing overtop of open books, the jokes covering up any worries of failing their final exams.

And yet the teens who'd shoved two tables in the library together were getting more done than ever before. Mostly because Lily Evans could keep everyone in check, but Madeline and Bluebelle helped with this.

  "Okay, Potions—"

"Some of us don't take Potions."

"James, you're good at this, don't be a prick," Madeline said flatly, making her brother sigh and accept her textbook.

"I need help with Arithmatcy!" Marlene McKinnon announced, making Remus let out a breathy laugh and scoot closer, delving into the study material with the blonde.

"James, what classes did you take?" Lily asked thoughtfully, rolling a pen between her fingers.

"Just a few," He shrugged, not looking away from Madeline's papers, "I didn't need a certain set of them since the Order."

  "The Order?"

James' movements froze, looking up slowly to find all eyes on him.

  "Nice job, mate."

  "Sirius Orion—"

"—Alright, who told Mads my middle name—"

"If you don't tell me what the hell 'The Order' is right now," Madeline sighed, squeezing her eyes shut momentarily.

"It's. . . sort of complicated," James mumbled, "Moony, you got this one?"

"Dumbledore has organized a. . . group," Remus began quietly, "He Who Shall Not Be Named has his army, the Death Eaters. The light needed an organized way of fighting back, the solution is the Order Of The Phoenix."

  "So it's an army."

"It's not that simple," Sirius sighed at Kai, "It's a secret. Gives us an edge, and we'll be full-time members once we graduate, protecting, ridding darkness with light, we're all committed to the ideas he's presented."

"Right, and we wouldn't be?" Madeline asked almost harshly.

"Yeah, why is it that we—" Lily gestured to herself, Madeline, Bluebelle, and Marlene, "Are the ones left out of this organization? Is it because we're girls?"

"What? No!" James said instantly, "Lily, I think you're one of the bravest people in the world, and you being a girl doesn't affect that at all."

"Forget it, we're going right to the source," Marlene announced, standing quickly, "Come on, we deserve to be a part of this just as much as they do."

"Wait, by source you mean—" Remus began in a slight panic, as the four girls collected their things, "You can't just storm into the Headmaster's office—"

"And which one of you is going to stop us?" Madeline asked, pausing for half a second and scanning over the faces of somewhat shaken boys.

"Well, not us," Kai said almost nervously, "But, um, perhaps a professor will, Dumbledore himself—"

"Trust me, no one's stopping four pissed off witches," Sirius said quietly, "Unless they have a death wish."

Madeline gave him a slight nod of approval, that made Sirius himself smile almost proudly. But before she could fully appreciate how adorable it was that he'd accepted the small amount of praise like a child would, she was off, her step matching those of the other three witches with her, refusing to be left behind while their entire generation chose a side to fight for.

ϟ

Admittedly, Madeline found it strange that there wasn't a need to provide a password for Dumbledore's study. That the quartet of girls marched up the stairs already open, none of them had time for questions.

"Headmaster," Marlene began strongly, but Dumbledore's eyebrow raised slowly and she lost all confidence, strongly walking directly behind Madeline.

"Headmaster," Madeline repeated, sighing out her nerves, "Sources that will remain anonymous have informed us you've created an organization called The Order Of The Phoenix."

"Yes," He confirmed casually, making Madeline falter in confusion, "Please, continue."

"Well, we noticed that you'd conveniently left us out," Lily spoke up, nodding, "And it reflects poorly on you. Sir."

"And we think if you don't let us in, we'll just create our own."

"Blue!" Madeline whispered harshly, making the blonde wave her off.

"The members of the Order Of The Phoneix are those who've approached me inquiring about opportunities," Dumbledore said calmly, not feeding into the palpable anger, "I expected you to come sooner, but now works all the same."

The girls had all slowly come down from the peak of rebellion, realizing some secret organization wouldn't just hand out mass invites.

"Don't be mistaken, I'd very much like you to be a part of this," Dumbledore said, "But there are certain precautions that come with it."

"We're willing to do whatever it takes," Lily said strongly.

"Beleive me, Ms. Evans, I know."

ϟ

There was a certain tension when the girls returned and spread the news that they, too, would be full members of the Order come June. No one wanted someone they love to fight in a war bigger than themselves and that was it.

But they had to. Simply put, it was fight or be entirely consumed by darkness, and only one option seemed viable.

So between NEWTs beginning and useless class periods, the infamous study group continued studying. But now it was all Defense spells, they'd collected any and every Defense Against The Dark Arts textbook, practicing defensive and offensive spells on unsuspecting trees in the Forbidden Forest and in some situations, each other.

Because despite their fire, their want and need to fight and defend, nothing would matter if they were unprepared. Good intentions and youth couldn't overpower dark magic alone, but they were smart enough to know this.

To spend their final month wisely, not only preparing but cherishing the moments in between. Like when Madeline and James raced from Gryffindor dorms to the kitchens, or when Sirius decided to learn the faux muggle kind of magic to make a bouquet for Madeline. Lily and Madeline spent Tuesdays together, and Thursdays were the ones which Madeline devoted to her Ravenclaw friends. She spent Saturday with Sirius and Sundays with Remus— and wondered why Peter didn't care for the time as much as anyone else.

They held those times close, before even knowing they'd be the last memories they'd ever be able to make.

( AUTHOR'S NOTE. )
ow?? anyways weird and totally unrelated thing;
does anyone else have back and forth
opinions on makeup?? Like I used to
wear it every day from 6th grade to
tenth (ish) and it was like I couldn't
leave the house without it, and then i stopped
altogether to try and get rid of my acne
and now, 2 ish years later, my skin is
a lot better but I'm also back to doing makeup??
but it more like, bright colors, glitter, fun
Idc if I'm wearing it to go out anymore??
Not that that's a bad thing, no judgement here,
i'm just saying it's weird going from that extreme
to wearing hot pink eyeshadow while also
not touching foundation idk it's WEIRD??
anyways, yes yes, two more chapters of Anobrain
and yeah, if you were wondering, it IS
stressing me out :') but I already have
the sequel planned out and oooooo u guys
are gonna love it the plot is interesting, not to
toot my own horn but: toot toot.
