chapter two: detective wilden.
BELLE STOPPED MID-WAY THROUGH the back door, her eyebrows knitted together, "dad!" She called out, her voice echoing through the empty home. She throw her keys in the dish bowl that was placed in the middle of the kitchen island, while she placed the bouquet of flowers down.
Belle grabbed a vase from one of the cabinets and started to fill it up with water. Mid-way, she had heard the wailing sirens race down the long street her house resided on. The raven haired girl turned the tap off and made her way towards the front to see a group of squad cars and an ambulance surrounding Alison's old house. She quickly slipped on a pair of shoes and a jacket before making her way towards the crowd.
Belle stopped just outside her fence, standing next to Spencer as she watched a gurney get put inside of a van marked 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫.
"Oh my god. is that?" Belle trailed off as she didn't want to believe what she was seeing. though Spencer sent a small nod to answer.
Belle could see Aria hurrying down the street, catching belle and spencer's eyes.
"I heard the cops took Hanna to the police station today." Aria said, breaking the silence that surrounded them.
Both Belle and Spencer shared a worrier look before glanced over towards Aria, "wait, you don't think she's ever talked about-" Spencer didn't even get to finish her sentence as Hanna popped up beside Belle.
"The Jenna thing?" Hanna finished. All three girls looked at her as she spoke again, "we made a promise."

THE RAVEN HAIRED GIRL STARED AT HERSELF IN THE VANITY, the dark under bags present from the sleepless night she had, her lips were pulled into a deep frown. Belle tossed and turned until she had enough and sat against her window, looking out at the night sky.
Her hands delicately patted on the concealer under her eyes, her shaking hands carefully brushed through her lashes with mascara. Belle glanced at her reflection, putting on a semi forced smile as she tied her hair up into a ponytail.
"Belle."
The raven haired girl stood from where she sat and patted down the black dress, "I'm good," she muttered as she faced her father, her hands tucked together.
"I know Alison was a big part of your life," Hank spoke softly, placing a hand on her shoulder, "it's okay to cry."
Belle's lips turned up slightly at the comment before she shook her head, "I'm okay," she mumbled before walking out of her room.
Cameron watched as the younger Carter walked with her head hanging low, her fiddling with the hem of her dress as she sniffed away a few tears that threatened to escape.
▂▂▂▂
THE CHURCH WAS OVERFLOWING WHTH PEOPLE. The amount of people who had shown up didn't shock Belle. Alison had a lot of friends that loved her, but she also had a lot of enemies who only turned up just to make sure she was actually gone. Belle walked through the church, her father in one side and Cameron in the other. The raven haired girl had her hands tucked in front of her, eyes staring straight ahead of her, glued on the photo of Alison, the one she's seen too many to count on her figures.
In the middle of the aisle was a woman, greeting people with a solemn look on her pale features as they walked past.
"Mrs DiLaurentis," Belle spoke softly once she reached the women.
"Belle!" There was almost a genuine smile on Mrs DiLaurentis' lips as she laid eyes on the raven haired girl.
The older woman wrapped her arms around the young girl, embracing her tightly.
"I'm so glad you came," she said, releasing the Carter girl, but holding her at arms length, "I've arranged you to sit at the front with the other girls. It would have been what Alison would have wanted."
Belle nodded mutely at her statement, stepping away from Alison's mother. She glanced over towards her father before walking towards the front. She had spotted the girls sitting in the front pew. Her paced slowly down as she neared the front, her eyes glued on the photo.
Aria reached out to take belle's hand in her own, giving it a little squeeze. The raven haired girl glanced over towards Aria, sending her small smile before sliding beside her.
"Poor Ali." Emily broke the silence as all five girls started straight ahead.
"Can you believe what a scene this is?" Hanna said in disbelief, looking over her shoulders at the crowd.
"Alison would have loved it." Aria replied, all the girls shared a nodded.
"Popular in life and death." Spencer spoke in a factual tone.
"That's immortality my darlings." Belle murmured as she press her lips into a tight line.
Hanna clipped open her black purse, pulling out a silver flask, whatever liquid she had choose to fill it with was sloshing around. The blonde offered the flask to Emily, "no thanks. I don't-"
"Today I think you do." Hanna shook her head and still held out the silver flask. Emily took the flask, holding it tightly in her hands, but didn't drink.
Aria's cellphone rings, cutting off their conversation. Each girl tensed up at the sound, all wondering the same thing. Aria let go of the raven haired girl's hand and pulled out her phone, flipping it open.
"Anyone we know?" Belle asked softly, unsure if she actually wanted to her the answer.
"No, it's just my mum sending me a text," Aria explained, each of the girls shoulders relaxed slightly, and they all noticed this, "Emily and I aren't the only ones who got messages from 𝐀 are we?"
No one got the chance to respond to aria's question as Belle and Spencer turned in their seat, eyes widen in shock.
"Holy shit, it's Jenna." They both said in unison, a smile creeped onto their faces. Remembering how they would always do that.
All four girls turned in their seats, watching as Jenna is being led into the church. Her thick black sunglasses sitting on her face. There was a quiet murmur that followed her entrance, Belle glanced over towards nick, her eyebrows knitted together as he shrugged.
The girls shuffled down the pew as Alison's mother took a seat next to the girls.
"Did you see that Jenna Marshall was here? I didn't realize she and Alison were friends." Mrs Dilaurentis' voice was laced with confusion.
"They weren't." Spencer confirmed.
"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺."
The ceremony went along nicely, as nicely as one could say goodbye to a friend. Everyone said nothing but nice things about Alison, it had brought some into tears. As the ceremony come to an end, everyone in the church slowly made their way out. Belle was wedged inbetween Emily and Spencer, the girls link arms as they walked out.
"Belle, Emily, Spencer, Aria, and Hanna." A deep voice spoke through the crowd as they stood on the sidewalk, watching unfamiliar man in a suit walk up to them.
"Do we know you?" Spencer asked in confusion.
"I'm Detective Wilden," he told her, digging in his coat pocket for a card. Spencer took it from him, flipping it over in her hands, "I understand you were all good friends with the victim."
"Yeah, we were." Aria confirmed.
"I'm going to need to talk to each one of you," wilden stated, there wasn't any emotion on his sharp features.
"We told the police everything that happened the night alison went missing," Belle glared at the man as she handed the card back to Spencer.
"And I intend to go over every one of your statements." Wilden gave the raven haired girl a menacing look, "this is no longer a missing person investigation. It's a murder. And rest assured I will find out what happened that summer."
The detective gave each of the girls a hard look before turning on his heel.
Their eyes wandered to Jenna Marshall, who was getting into a car at the front of the church, "do you think he knows about?" Aria asked uncomfortably.
"No. How could he?" Hanna answered.
There was a silence followed, but it didn't last long, it was interrupted by the sound of each of the girls cellphones ringing. The air around them become tense as they pulled out their phones.
"Oh my god." Aria gasped, staring at the messages on her screen.
"It's from-" Hanna begin to say.
"I got one too." Emily cut her off.
"I'm still here bitches." Spencer stated to read it.
"And I know everything." Belle said finishing off the text.
"A." The girls all said in sync as they glanced around in horror. What the girls didn't know was that 𝐀 person knew all their dirty little secrets. Even the ones some swore they wouldn't never tell.
