CHAPTER ONE:
"WE'RE HERE NOW."
Crickets were chirping throughout the entire forest, the sound of hooves by a horse adding to the sounds that could be heard. Dirt and mud laid all around the ground like it usually did, getting onto people's clothing, their shoes, their skin. The occasional neighs from the singular horse in the forest filled the air, adding to the chirping crickets and the hooves of the said horse. Green, brown, black, most colors were all around as it usually was in the forest whenever someone was to come out there.
On the only horse that could be seen in the woods, the only grounder that had seemed to live from the last fight against the sky people, Tristan, rode his animal as he held a rope in his hand that was turned into a fist. On the other end, being dragged behind the horse, Y/n Griffin dragged her feet as she walked in-between Finn Collins and a boy that had lived from the attack just like they had.
All three of the teenagers held cuts, mud, dirt, ash all over their face, blood adding to it. Their hair was a mess, sticking to their faces because of the sweat that was there. The occasional complaints of the boy on the other side of Y/n filled her eardrums, claiming he couldn't go much farther. After passing out when she left her sister's side, Y/n had woken up in the forest with Finn and her other fellow leader of the camp's faces staring down at her in concern. After her and Finn had been separated from the older boy, they were caught by Tristan. Just then, the boy beside Y/n fell flat on his stomach, making the grounder stop.
"On your feet." Tristan demands.
"I can't." The boy croaks out as Finn and Y/n try to get him up.
"He can't keep up." Finn calls to the grounder.
As they continued to try and get him up, Tristan mounted off his horse and stomped towards them just as Finn and Y/n were able to get the boy up. However, the grounder pulled on the rope, unsheathing his sword and despite Y/n and Finn's protest, he sliced the boy's throat, killing him almost instantly as blood poured out of the teenager. Feeling weak and tired, Y/n couldn't help but fall to her knees which Finn was quick to try and catch her, his hand wrapped around her arm securely.
"That's one. I lost three hundred." Tristan reminds.
Both looked up at him just as he began walking towards them. Finn was quick to bring Y/n up to her feet, only for both of them to stumble back to the ground, their wrists still tied together tightly. The teenagers continued to back up until they couldn't any longer, and what they didn't expect, was for Tristan to bring out a canteen full of water and toss it to them, hitting Finn right in the torso while doing so.
"Drink. You're both lucky. I need to keep one of you alive to talk to the commander. Two is just better, in case I need to kill one of you." Tristan states.
Picking up the canteen, the Collins boy opens up the lid and hands it to the girl he loved, letting her have the first drink. Eagerly, feeling her dry throat become moist a bit at the mention of water, Y/n gulps half of it down, leaving enough for Finn. The brunette gulped the rest of it down before Tristan grabbed it from him, placing the lid of the canteen back on and putting it in his pocket he had it in before.
After that, he pulled on the ropes that was latched around their wrists, pulling them back up to their feet. Tiredly, they began to walk again after he mounted back onto his horse and started moving again. Letting out small breathes, Y/n glances over her shoulder, sad eyes looking at the boy who had done nothing to deserve the death he had gotten. As they walked, Y/n couldn't help but think of the campers that had gotten into the dropship.
And her sister.
When they'd get free of Tristan, Y/n's plan was to go and find her sister, whatever it took. She had Finn, and now just needed to find Clarke. At the time when the fight was happening, Y/n had only thought of one thing. Save Finn. And she tried, but he ended up saving her as him and Bellamy had dragged her unconscious body out of the camp while the grounders had been distracted, trying to get into the dropship where all the other campers that lived were at. Finn glances over at the girl beside him, seeing her staring at the ground with narrowed eyes, deep in thought.
He frowns, figuring she was thinking about everything that's been happening. Her mother dead, her sister gone, possibly dead as well. Even with his wrists tied together like hers, he was able to reach over and brush his fingers against hers. Y/n's head snaps up to him, meeting his brown eyes as they stare at one another.
"I'll always be there for you, okay?" Finn whispers to her, staring into her e/c eyes. "No matter what."
In response, a small smile comes onto her lips as she nods in reply. Finn couldn't help but smile a bit when he saw her cut up and bruised lips quirk upwards a bit. He would be there and help her every step of the way. He would help her find her sister and the rest of their friends.
"Hey!" A familiar deep voice shouts from behind them, snapping them out of their thoughts.
The two teenagers, including Tristan who slowed the horse to a stop glanced over their shoulders. Finn and Y/n's eyes widened upon seeing the second leader out of the three standing there, a spear in his hand. Blood and dirt laid all over his face, sweat adding to it while his short black hair looked like a mess. Y/n could only guess that she looked like that too, just as Finn looked the same.
Bellamy Blake glanced over his shoulder, loud pants escaping him. The other two watched as a look of confusion appeared on his face as he seemed to have been searching for someone. They could only guess that some other people from the camp lived and were with him, but were possibly hiding or either ran away, leaving him to deal with Tristan and to save his two friends that were trapped.
"Bellamy, get out of here!" Y/n yells to him.
Next thing her and Finn knew, Tristan was turning the horse around and speeding towards Bellamy, causing the two teenagers to fling upwards as they were being dragged behind in the dirt and mud. Bellamy lets out a cry as he throws the spear towards Tristan, but the grounder was able to dodge, the Blake boy watching as it flew right over his shoulder, nailing itself into the trunk of a tree.
All of a sudden, Tristan swings his arm forward, hitting Bellamy in the face, sending him back against the ground. When the horse stopped, Finn and Y/n rolled out the ground, grunts and groans escaping them as Tristan mounted off the animal again, stomping towards Bellamy and kicking him in the gut, sending him rolling on the ground. Neither Y/n or Finn could do anything as their hands were still tied.
Tristan stepped above Bellamy, grabbing ahold of the collar of his shirt, sending many rough punches to his face, adding more blood to the blood that was already laying on his skin. Both Finn and Y/n tried to intervene each time, but Tristan would just push them back every time as he continued to send punches to Bellamy's face.
When Tristan was finished with Bellamy, more blood and dirt than there had already been laid on the Blake boy's face. Grabbing him by the collar of his shirt, he lifted him up tied rope around his wrist before he stomped to the other two, hauling Y/n up to her feet roughly, then doing the same to Finn. When he finished, Y/n was soon placed in-between the two boys as both her and Finn glanced at the tired Bellamy on the other side of her.
"You have to stand on your feet. He'll kill you if you don't." Finn tells the older boy when Tristan walked back to his horse.
Bellamy took a glance at both of them, finally taking notice of how much blood and dirt and mud they had on their faces just like him. Suddenly, the sound of shouting filled their eardrums, making the three and Tristan turn around, seeing two teenagers running towards them, knives in their hands. One of them was Monroe and the other was Sterling, no doubt being with Bellamy before he had been tied up with Finn and Y/n.
Tristan unsheathes his sword, a growl leaving him and Finn, Bellamy and Y/n knew that Monroe and Sterling didn't stand a chance against him. However, they all froze by the sound of gunshots, the two teenagers cutting their shouts off and freezing in their tracks when one of the bullets from the gunshot went right into Tristan's back, causing his eyes to widen. As he fell to his knees, another gunshot filled the air as it went right to his head. Both Finn and Bellamy had been quick to duck down, pulling Y/n with them.
Looking over to the source of the sound and hearing the bushes rattle a bit, their eyes widened upon seeing a familiar face holding a gun as he walked towards them. Y/n immediately recognized him as Marcus Kane, her parents and the chancellor's friend. More adults trailed behind Kane, guns in their hands. Kane lowered his weapon, glancing between the teenagers in front of him.
"We're here now. Everything's gonna be okay." Kane assures.
