CHAPTER EIGHTEEN:
"GOOD SAVE."
An hour or so had passed. The storm had calmed down even more than before. The dropship stopped shaking, the sound of the raindrops pounding on the large shelter full of teenagers had gone silent. They didn't know what time of day it was, but they knew it had to be somewhere in the middle of the day.
In the very top of the dropship floor where the grounder was being held, the Griffin sisters found themselves standing in front of the grounder. Clarke held a scrunched up face as she carefully took the knife-like weapon from the grounder's palm, all while he stared blankly at her.
Bending down to the bucket of water below her, Y/n grabs a wet cloth, twisting it to get all the water out, leaving a damp cloth in her palm and fingers. Standing back up, she slowly reaches out to grab the grounder's hand which he had turned into a fist, not letting her try to tend to the wound just as Octavia climbs up into the room.
"Hey. Look, I need to clean this." Y/n whispers to the grounder, but he doesn't open his hand.
"Here. Let me try." Octavia offers.
Seeing her holding out her hand, the e/c eyed girl hands the Blake girl the cloth, both her and Clarke watching as the grounder slowly opens his hand while staring at the brunette, who takes glances at him. Octavia begins to gently damp his bloody palm.
"We never wanted him to get hurt, Octavia." Clarke tells her, but she doesn't reply. "You have to know that."
"I-- We just wanted to save Finn." Y/n adds, quickly correcting herself.
"For the record, neither of you saved Finn. That was me." Octavia corrects. "But whatever you want to tell yourselves to feel better."
The sisters share a sad glance before leaving the room, leaving Octavia to tend to the grounder. Once getting into the same room as Finn and seeing the dropship doors open, the sisters disperse, Clarke heading outside while Y/n paces back and forth in the room, waiting for Finn to wake up. Eventually, a small groan escapes him, causing Y/n to walk over to his side, giving him a small smile once their eyes met.
"Hey." Finn whispers with a small smile.
Y/n smiles. "Hey."
Slowly reaching up, Finn gently grabs ahold of her forearm. "Good save."
Smiling at his words, Y/n glances behind him, seeing Raven peacefully sleeping on the seats, a blanket over her. Glancing over her shoulder, she watches for a second as her sister helps out the campers.
Shaking her head, Y/n looks back at him. "It wasn't just me. Clarke and Raven were there, too. They did just as much work."
A tired smile comes onto his lips as he stares into her e/c eyes. He never wanted this moment to end. Neither did she. Ever moment they had together, they didn't want it to end. But, sadly, it always had to some way or another.
"Raven." Y/n calls, waking the up the said girl. "He's awake. He was asking for you."
The Griffin girl steps back, watching as Raven takes her place beside her best friend, relief filling her entire face.
"I thought I lost you." Raven admits in a whisper.
As she leans down, she wraps her arm around her best friend while Y/n watches with a small smile. Starting to walk out of the dropship, she takes once last glance back, meeting Finn's eyes before she heads outside, meeting her sister. The girls glance around as Bellamy walks to them.
"We'll get it cleaned up." Bellamy assures.
Clarke shakes her head. "I wish this was our only mess."
"Clarke. Y/n." Bellamy begins, taking the same weapon he had dug into the grounder's hand from the h/c's grip. "Who we are and who we need to be to survive are very different things."
"What are we gonna do with him?" Y/n asks, referring to the grounder.
Clarke nods. "Yeah, we can't keep him locked up forever."
"If we let him go, he'll be back, and not alone next time." Bellamy argues, sighing. "It's not easy being in charge, is it?"
Neither of the girls respond, to which he slowly walks past him while the sisters continue to stand there. Reaching over, Y/n grabs her sister's hand, feeling the blonde give a reassuring squeeze.
The chaos for today was all over. Finn was fine, cured from the poison the grounder put on him. The storm had passed, leaving their entire camp all ruined but they'd be able to fix it. Everything was calm.
For the moment, at least.
