CHAPTER TWENTY:
"THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM."
The sun was shining a bit through the clouds as it usually did, the clouds being a grey-ish-white color as they moved in one direction high in the sky. The chirps of birds and crickets were loud as they usually were, two men in suits being seen with guns in their hands as they looked through the scopes of the large guns, looking at a group of grounders on horses ahead of them, Clarke and Abby being some of them.
Unfortunately, Clarke couldn't see the men in suits until the sound of a gunshot echoed throughout the air when one of them shot, the bullet hitting a grounder and knocking him off his horse as an arrow lodged into one of the men's neck, the same man who had shot. The other man stood up, frantically looking around to see who had killed his friend.
Next thing he knew, Indra and a few grounders were running out of the trees in one area, Octavia and Y/n running out from the other side, fully cornering the man in the suit. When one of the grounders went to shoot with his bow and arrow, Indra stopped him, telling him it was the teenagers kill.
The same morning, Indra had, surprisingly, gave Y/n a knife that was big enough to defend herself and kill someone, even if she was sure she wouldn't kill anyone. The woman had said hen she was ready, she'd get a sword like Octavia since Lincoln had given the Blake girl the sword.
As the girls unsheathed their sword and knife, the man brought out a knife as he went to attack them, but they dodged his attacks as he went to swipe at them. Y/n brought her foot forward, kicking the man in the torso, sending him to the ground before she stepped on his arm, making him groan out in pain as his grip released from his knife, to which the girl pushed it away.
After that, Octavia swiped her sword, cutting a part of his suit on the pantleg, making the man panic as he got to his knees. However, Octavia roughly grabbed his head, placing the blade of her sword by his neck while Y/n aimed her knife at him near his face.
"Finish it." Indra demands.
"Y/n, Octavia, no." Clarke's voice shouts.
The said girls, Indra and the other grounders snap their heads over to the sound of the blonde's voice, seeing her ride up on a horse with a grounder on another horse following her. The man in the suit continued crying out, thinking his time was up.
"He's from Mount Weather. We need to keep him alive." Clarke informs. "Check to see if he's got a patch kit. We've gotta get him back to camp."
The Blake girl lowers her sword, Y/n doing the same with her knife as Octavia pushes him down to the ground before walking to the kit beside the lifeless man another grounder had killed. Y/n watched as her friend unzipped the kit, stopping at the sight of something inside as she picks it up.
Walking over and placing her hands on her knees to see, Y/n's eyes widen a bit upon seeing a picture of her sister and Lexa, two red circles being drawn around their faces. The teenagers exchange a glance before Octavia stands up, venturing to the blonde.
"Clarke, you and Lexa were the targets." Octavia reveals, handing the picture to her.
"We have to warn the commander." Indra states. "Send our fastest riders to Tondc. Now!"
Obeying, the same grounder who had came with Clarke turns his horse around before riding off, leaving the others behind as Clarke glances back down at the picture of herself and Lexa, hoping they'd be able to get information out of this man.
The night sky was up high in the sky like usual, the clouds blending in with the dark sky as hours had gone by since the small fight with Octavia, Y/n and the mountain man. They had gotten him back to Camp Jaha and Raven was able to put him somewhere so he'd still be alive, hoping they'd be able to get any information out of them.
However, he hadn't said much, only his name. Later on in the day, they were able to get in contact with Bellamy who was now in Mount Weather after being able to somehow get in with the help of Lincoln, who was nowhere to be seen at the moment.
At the moment, inside the Ark, Clarke was leading the way with some grounders trailing behind her through the halls, Indra, Y/n and Octavia being with them. Y/n was right beside her sister as they stomped through the halls and soon right in front of the cell they were keeping the mountain man, known as Emerson, inside where he was able to breath.
After Clarke demanded him to get dressed and he had his suit on, the cell opened up where two grounders had ahold of his arms as they walked outside and to the gate, the Griffin twins right beside each other the entire time. Before they would fully get to the gate, Abby and Kane stopped in front of them.
"Clarke, stop." Abby orders.
Clarke shakes her head. "No. I'm letting the prisoner go."
"Absolutely not." Abby protests.
"He hasn't told us anything yet." Kane reminds.
"He doesn't have to. He's gonna tell them something." Y/n tells them, knowing what her sister wanted after she told her.
Abby looks to some guards. "Get the prisoner back to the airlock now."
Obeying their chancellor, the guards from the Ark all step towards the man, only to step back and even jump back when some grounders step towards them, their weapons in their hands, making the guards raise their guns a bit, just in case of anything. Clarke looks to her sister, who gives her a small nod, giving her hand a slight squeeze as well.
"You may be the chancellor, but I'm in charge." Clarke states, looking at her and Y/n's mother.
"Indra, tell your people to stand down before this gets out of hand." Abby instructs, glancing between both her daughters.
"No." Indra simply replies.
Abby purses her lips. "People could get hurt."
"Not if you get out of the way. You need to trust that Clarke knows what's right for us." Y/n states, which Clarke couldn't help but look at her sister with a small smile as she backed her up.
Kane steps forward, looking to Abby. "The grounders trust Clarke. Maybe we should, too."
"Stand down." Abby orders.
The guards all do as told as they lower their guns while the Griffin twins, Octavia and the grounders walk past the adults and to the gate. When Clarke demanded the guards to open the gate, they obeyed before they all came to a stop, the grounders leading the mountain man right in front of the blonde. As that happened, Y/n stepped back and stopped beside Octavia as they stood behind Clarke.
"Can you hear me alright?" Clarke questions. "Because I need to make sure you get this."
"Loud and clear." Emerson replies.
"I have a message for your leader. We're coming for him. You're watching us, but you haven't seen a thing. The grounder army is bigger than you think, and even if you could find it, your acid fog can't hurt them, and now, thanks to you..." Clarke explains as she brings out a weapon, turning it on as a high-pitched sound fills the air before turning it off. "...neither can the reapers. So you have one last chance. Let our people go, and we'll let you live. It's just that simple."
Emerson nods. "I got it."
Clarke reaches forward and grabs something from his suit. "It's an eight hour walk back to Mount Weather." The others watch as air comes out of the thing she was holding. "You're gonna do it in six."
"Six hours? That's not enough. How am I supposed to deliver your message?" Emerson asks.
"That's your problem. Now go." Clarke demands.
All the grounders move out of the way, letting the man turn around and run off as quick as he could so he'd be able to get back to his home within six hours. As he leaves, the grounders all close the gate as Clarke turns around, stopping in front of her sister and Octavia.
"You wanna explain to me how this helps my brother?" Octavia questions.
"I just told him we have a secret army to worry about. The more they're looking at us, the less they're looking at him. Bellamy is the key to everything, Octavia." Clarke informs.
"If he dies, we die." Y/n concludes, the blonde nodding in agreement.
And with that, the blonde begins to walk past him, the Griffin twins sharing a small fist-bump like they always used to do back on the Ark before the e/c eyed girl glances at Octavia, seeing her glance at her. Y/n places her hand on the brunette's shoulder, doing it in a slow pace in case she didn't want that, but when she didn't move, she gave her shoulder a small squeeze before turning around and walking off, seeing Indra give her a small nod while she walked by her.
