CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR:

"I KNOW YOU."

Bellamy Blake was still in rage as he paced back and forth on the dropship, the rifle in his arms tightening even more in his grip. After finding out John Murphy was the weapon the grounders had brought back to them, he was in even more rage and wanted nothing more than to shoot the teenager. Only a couple minutes had passed since the conversation they had and a cool, wet cloth was gently being pressed against Murphy's wound.

On the other end of the cloth, Y/n was wiping the blood off his face and arms, seeing the red substance seep onto the material while her and Clarke were crouched in front of the Murphy boy as Bellamy kept a safe distance away from them. Both the Griffin twins knew that they were already sick and didn't wanna risk anyone else in the camp getting sick after the people who had brought Murphy in were led into the dropship.

"Is this your revenge, helping the grounders kill us?" Bellamy questions.

"I didn't know about this, okay, I swear." Murphy replies.

"Stop lying." Bellamy shouts. "When are they coming?"

"Murphy, think, alright? What can you tell us that's useful? Did you hear anything?" Y/n asks.

Murphy shakes his head. "They are vicious, cruel."

"You wanna see vicious?" Bellamy snaps as he takes a step forward.

"Hey, don't." Clarke orders. "Whatever this thing is, it spreads through contact."

Finn suddenly rushes into the dropship. "Y/n?"

"Finn, you shouldn't be in here. No one should." Y/n tells him.

"I heard you were sick." Finn recalls, glancing around. "Y/n, what is this?"

Y/n sighs. "I don't know, some kind of hemorrhagic fever. We just need to contain it before--"

Suddenly, the girl was cut off when Derek began shaking in his spot, coughing roughly. The Griffin twins rise up to their feet, Y/n having to shrug Finn's hands off her and instruct him to wash his hands when he touched her. As they stop in front of Derek, the boy began to vomit up blood before he went limp on the floor. After sharing a glance with her sister, Clarke kneels down and places her fingers on his neck to check his pulse.

"Is he..." Bellamy starts, trailing off, fearing the worst.

"He's dead." Clarke concludes.

As the blonde stands up, Y/n grabs a bottle of alcohol and turns to Finn who had been holding his hands out after the girl demanded him to wash them but there was nothing. The h/c dumps some of the alcohol on his hands, knowing it'd help get the bacteria off after he had touched her arm when she started to walk past him.

"What do we do?" Finn questions.

"Quarantine. Round up everyone who had contact with Murphy. Bring them here." Y/n instructs.

"And everyone they had contact with?" Bellamy asks.

"Well, we have to start somewhere." Y/n replies.

Clarke looks to Connor. "Connor, who was with you when you found him? Who carried him in? Think."

"The first one there was Octavia." Connor reveals.

The sisters eyes widen a bit as they glance to Bellamy who's brown eyes went wide in panic, rushing out of the dropship and on his way to grab his little sister. Eventually, many other teenagers were hoarded up into the dropship where Bellamy soon came back with Octavia, Clarke checking the girl to see if she was alright. Y/n, Clarke and Bellamy all held clothes over their mouth and noses, not wanting to spread the sickness but not also wanting to receive it.

"Okay. We're done." Clarke soon announces. "No visible signs of swelling or bleeding."

"So you're saying she doesn't have it?" Bellamy questions, voice full of hope.

"I'm saying she doesn't have symptoms, but that could change. We need to keep her here just in case." Clarke informs.

Bellamy shakes his head. "No way. Look at this place. She'll get sick just being here."

"Do you wanna stop the spread, or not?" Clarke tiredly asks, receiving no response.

"Look. We'll keep her on the third level with the people who aren't symptomatic yet." Y/n assures to which Octavia glances at her brother. "Think of it as a way to stop her from sneaking out again."

"Screw you, Y/n." Octavia snaps.

"We'll let you know if her condition changes." Y/n continues, ignoring the girl's outburst.

Bellamy nods in response before he exits the dropship while Octavia walks past the twins, grabbing ahold of the ladder where she began to climb up to the third level of the dropship. The Blake girl doesn't even notice the Griffin twins tiredly glancing at one another.

"Octavia, wait." Clarke calls, making the girl stop and look at them. "We need you to sneak out again."

Later in the day, it was near the afternoon when the Griffin twins found themselves outside on the ramp of the dropship. At least two or three more teenagers had passed from the sickness as two boys were dragging another camper out and laying them on the ground where they had put the other lifeless teenager from earlier, Derek being one of them. A crowd was away from the dropship, the people that didn't seem to be sick.

Finn was one of them, the Collins boy watching as the lifeless teenager was gently placed on the ground before his eyes trail to Y/n who looked more paler and paler each minute that passed, the same thing with Clarke. Some people even outside of the dropship had cloths over their nose and mouths, in case of anything as they didn't wanna risk getting sick and dying like their friends.

"Alright. Show's over. Get back to your posts." Bellamy orders, stepping towards the sisters. "You guys got enough food in there, water?"

Clarke nods. "Yeah. Some medicine might be nice."

Bellamy smiles. "I'll see what I can do. Octavia, you okay?"

The Griffin twins had began to walk back into the dropship, however, they both stopped when the Blake boy had called out for his sister. The two glanced at each other before looking at him, to which he noticed their panicked gazes and stepped forward, thinking the worse about his sister.

"Bellamy, wait. She's not here. We sent her to see Lincoln." Y/n reveals.

"Look. If there's a cure, he has it. We didn't tell you because we knew you wouldn't let her go." Clarke adds.

"If anything happens to her, you two and me are gonna have problems." Bellamy tells them, walking to the front gate. "Out of my way."

The boy who stood in front of him turned around, revealing blood dripping from his eyes like what had happened to the Griffin twins earlier in the day. Instantly, Bellamy took a step back, instructing the boy to get into the dropship which he obeyed as another boy aimed a gun at the sick boy just in case of anything as it was clear he didn't wanna get sick like the others. Just then, a girl collapses to her knees where she puked out blood, getting it on two other boys.

Chaos and havoc was immediately happening throughout the entire camp as the only thing that could be heard was shouts and the people with the rifles threatening the people that were unarmed, thinking that they were probably sick. Clarke watched with wide eyes as she didn't even notice her sister stomping into the dropship until she was stomping back out, rifle in hand and pulled the trigger, the bullets hitting the sky, making everyone go silent as they looked to her.

"This is exactly what the grounders want. Don't you see that? They don't have to kill us if we kill each other first." Y/n calls out.

"They won't have to kill us if we all catch the virus." A boy snaps as he aims the gun he held at her. "Get back in the damn dropship."

Just as Finn goes to step forward, Bellamy grabs ahold of the gun the boy held, elbowing him roughly in the face which sends him stumbling back and onto the ground as he clutched his now injured nose.

"Not to state the obvious, but your quarantine isn't working." Bellamy states.

Next thing they knew, the gun fell from her hand as the youngest Griffin twin began collapsing to the ground. Immediately, Finn rushes towards her and picks her up bridal style, ignoring Clarke and Raven's shouts of not touching her, but the boy didn't care as he knew he was now a risk to getting the virus. All he cared about was the girl he held in his arms, wanting her to be okay.

"Hey, let me go. I'm okay." Y/n reassures breathlessly.

Finn shakes his head. "No, you're not."

"Octavia will come back with a cure." Clarke informs as she rushes to her sister, placing a hand on her forehead.

"There is no cure..." A voice announces and they turn to see Octavia was back. "...but the grounders don't use the sickness to kill."

"Really? Tell that to them." Bellamy replies, pointing at the dead bodies. "I warned you about seeing that grounder again."

"Yeah? Well, I have a warning for you, too. The grounders are coming... and they're attacking at first light." Octavia calls out, which everyone speaks to one another worriedly.

Noticing her friend laying in Finn's arms, the Blake girl walks towards Y/n, Finn and Clarke, passing her brother who grabbed her arm but she shrugged his hand off before her, Finn and Clarke walked into the dropship. Murphy took notice of the weak girl and offered his hammock, moving to the other side of the dropship while Finn placed Y/n in the hammock.

"What else did Lincoln tell you?" Clarke questions.

"The virus doesn't last long." Octavia replies.

Murphy nods. "It's true. I feel better."

Just then, Clarke was suddenly collapsing to the floor but Octavia was quick to catch her, followed by Finn. Y/n noticed and began to sit up but Finn stopped her as him and Octavia placed Clarke in another hammock across from her sister, Octavia grabbing cups for each of the sisters.

"Clarke and the others need to stay hydrated." Y/n speaks up, trying to get up again but Finn stops her.

"You need to stay hydrated." Finn corrects as he hands her a cup full of water.

"I got Clarke and the others. Don't worry." Octavia assures, walking to the older twin.

"I'll help you." Murphy offers, standing up.

Y/n looks up at Finn who was staring at her. "You need to save yourselves. Just leave camp. Take anyone healthy enough with you."

"If you think that's even a possibility, you don't know me very well." Finn tells her.

"I know you." Y/n whispers.

The two stare at one another, the boy's hand still on her shoulder as her head slowly falls to the side, sleep taking over. Finn continues to stare at her which Octavia took notice of the... love in his eyes.

"Look. At this rate, when the grounders get here, there won't be anyone left to fight back." Murphy speaks up.

"That's the point." Octavia replies.

"Then we slow them down." Finn states.
