CHAPTER THREE:

"IT'LL GET BETTER."

The sun was hiding behind the clouds high up in the sky as a new day came to the civilians living on the planet, the bright yellow star occasionally coming out from it's hiding spot and shining down on the people. It had been early in the morning when the birds started chirping loudly, purposely trying to wake up everyone in Arkadia, announcing they needed to get up and get ready to do their jobs like they were doing everyday, taking breaks in between throughout the days that went by in their daily lives.

The buzzes and chirps of insects could be heard all around, adding to the chirps of birds and the chatters all around the camp. The guards of Arkadia could be seen near the outskirts of the gate all around their home as they kept an eye out for any threats, taking turns with their fellow coworkers when their time was up so they could go take a break before they'd have to go back and continue their job after a few hours.

Kids could be seen running around outside, enjoying the warmth around them as they played games, their laughter filling the adults ears as the kids parents took glances at their children, small smiles on etching onto their faces at the sight of their kids happy, even on a planet they were living on with all the threats that could possibly come their way.

A few people could be seen rushing to medical, where Abby could be seen speaking with Jasper after bandaging up a cut he had gotten from his sudden fight with Macallan the night before while also checking the large injury on the side of his neck.

Y/n found herself rushing into medical with Octavia after she had ran into her and Lincoln, the Griffin girl having no idea her mother and friend had spoken about the boy she loves and how Jasper reminded the woman she had killed him, but little did they know. Abby turned to face them as a guard and Lincoln follow inside, a familiar grounder laying on a stretcher.

Nyko had been making his way towards Arkadia when Lincoln and Octavia found him on his horse, blood pouring from his side as he informed them it was Ice Nation who did this to him before he had gone unconscious. The grounder was laid on the metal table as Jackson rushed over and the guard stepped back, walking out of the room. Abby was quick to put a cloth-like bandage on the blood, putting pressure as Jackson used a small device to type him.

"RH null." Jackson reads off the device.

Octavia furrows her brows at the silence between the two doctors. "What's wrong?"

"We're universal donors." Y/n states as she takes off her glove and rolling up her sleeve. "Here. Take mine."

Abby shakes her head. "No, sweetie. You can't. RH null can only take RH null."

Not saying a word, considering he was a grounder as well, Lincoln held out his arm towards Jackson. The man glanced at his eyes before using the device to check his blood. The others wait in anticipation as Jackson looks down at the device before slowly shaking his head, silently telling them he wasn't the right one to help Nyko.

"Well, I don't understand. Can you save him or not?" Octavia asks.

"Not here." Jackson replies, ignoring the slight warning look Abby was giving him.

Lincoln tenses, brows furrowing. "Wait. What's he talking about?"

"I'm talking about Mount Weather." Jackson blurts out. "The medical facility in that mountain is state of the art. They relied on blood to survive. It's still all there."

"You want me to bring a grounder into Mount Weather for a transfusion? They killed thousands of people for that blood, Jackson." Abby reminds.

"We can't just let him die, Abby. We're doctors." Jackson argues.

"I am not just a doctor." Abby snaps.

"Maybe you should be." Jackson states.

Abby sighs, turning to the other grounder in the room. "Lincoln, you said to me yesterday that even our supply runs were putting us at risk. They were jeopardizing our peace. How would you advise me now?"

"Lincoln--" Octavia begins, noticing the troubled look on his face.

"He's my friend." Lincoln interrupts. "Save him."

"Get him ready for transport." Abby instructs as she turns around, noticing Jasper was still in the room. "I hope you're ready to face your feelings."

And with that, the doctors were getting ready to transport the unconscious and injured Nyko to Mount Weather. After a bit of trouble, they found themselves rushing through the halls of Mount Weather as they pushed the stretcher Nyko was laying in up in the direction they were needing to go in as Jasper was slowly walking behind them, stopping at the sight of the familiar place. Neither of them seemed to notice, except for Octavia as she told him not to do anything stupid before they were rushing with the others.

Seconds went by, seconds that turned into minutes, minutes that turned in about almost two hours when Y/n had decided to go and find Jasper to see how he was doing and where he could be in the mountain he had been trapped in and grew to love someone in. Octavia had decided to join her and when they heard commotion in one direction in one room, both shared a glance as they ventured towards it.

Y/n was the one to open the door, letting herself and her best friend in as they caught sight of Jasper sitting on the floor, his legs up as his elbows rested on his knees. Different types of art could be seen all around, a statue broken on the floor, showing that Jasper must've pushed it over in anger, as well as the many other paintings and art in the room. Y/n was the first to do something as she sat beside the boy on the floor, eyes looking at the painting he had set in front of him.

Octavia was the next to move and sat on the other side of the Jordan boy as there was a silence between the three. The Blake girl knew both Y/n and Jasper were going through the same thing, grieving over the ones they loved and still love deeply. While Jasper had gone into a fit of depression, Y/n kept control of hers. Only Octavia and Raven were the ones to know about her nightmares and the times she'd wake up crying in the middle of the night, as well as the anger she'd take out on if she were training or arguing with someone, like her mother.

Everyone close to her knew she was determined to become stronger and better to save the rest of the people in her life if something were to happen to them. Meanwhile, Jasper had gone into a drunken state most nights, which ended up with him arguing with Monty or one of his friends. Like Y/n, he would have fits of anger but would use physical violence if it came to it. Jasper Jordan had once been one of the cheeriest people in the one hundred and would be loved by most people, even after his spearing incident.

Y/n Griffin had once been a leader and determined to help injured people while also survive the planet they landed on. Now, after losing their loved ones and being on the ground changed them into the people they are today, completely different from how they were months ago.

"I'm fine." Jasper assures, lying to himself and them. "This was her favorite... represents the second circle of hell, which is pretty ironic if you think about it. I told her I liked it, but-- I don't know. I miss her."

By now, tears were falling down his cheeks as he tried to not bring out the sobs that he had let out so many times during these last three months, he was tired of crying. Slowly, Y/n lets herself link her arm with his as she rests her head on his shoulder. Octavia wrapped her arm around his shoulders, her hand touching Y/n's shoulder as she rests her head on his other shoulder.

"It'll get better." Octavia states and when Y/n felt her squeeze her shoulder, she knew she was talking about her as well.

"W-When?" Jasper cries.

However, neither of the girls answered because they didn't know. They didn't know when the pain would go away, but they knew it would someday. Even after it went away, the grief would still be deep within them and every time they thought about it, they'd get a saddened feeling in them as they thought of the person. So, neither of the three said anything as they sat in a silence, just enjoying each other's presence and letting the memories flow through their brains of the good times when they had first landed on the ground.
