CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE:

"LOOKS LIKE YOU'VE GOT YOUR FIGHT."

The entire camp was surrounded with teenagers as they packed their bags, preparing themselves to leave the camp like Clarke had instructed them to. Only a little while had gone by, meaning night time was getting closer and closer. Raven Reyes' screams echoed throughout the camp, sometimes quieting down the crowd around the camp as their eyes casted over to the dropship, hoping that they wouldn't lose another one of their people, especially now that the grounders were on their way.

Inside the dropship on the first floor, Raven laid on a table, each of her hands in Finn and Y/n's. Clarke was holding a knife, the blade heated, against her gunshot wound, the occasional blood seeping onto the blade. Finn was beside the blonde while Y/n was across from him, beside Bellamy, the Blake boy holding a book full of drawings in his hand as he glanced through them all, turning the pages.

After getting back, Clarke, Y/n and Finn had informed the two on how Lincoln saved them and the new enemy they had met and almost got killed from. Both Bellamy and Raven seemed interested to hear about these reapers they've never heard of. Finn had given Lincoln's book to Bellamy, letting him look over at the continuous drawings the grounder had drawn throughout his time on the earth. Eventually, Clarke places the knife on a tray in front of her with a clink sound.

"That should stop the external bleeding." Clarke informs.

"I don't understand. How did Murphy get a gun?" Finn asks.

Bellamy sighs. "Long story."

"We got lucky. If Murphy hit the fuel tank instead of me, we'd all be dead." Raven explains.

"Wait, there's rocket fuel down there? Enough to build a bomb?" Y/n questions.

Raven nods. "Enough to build a hundred bombs... if we had any gunpowder left."

"Let's get back to the reapers. Maybe they'll help us. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?" Bellamy reminds.

Clarke shakes her head after sharing a look with Y/n and Finn. "Not this enemy. We saw them. Trust me, it's not an option."

"There's no time for this." Finn intervenes, looking to the two doctors in the room. "Can she walk or not?"

"No. We have to carry her." Y/n replies.

"The hell you will. I'm good to go." Raven objects as she began to sit up but they stopped her.

"Hey, listen to me. That bullet is still inside you. If by some miracle, there's not internal bleeding, it might hold until we get somewhere safe. But you are not walking there. Is that clear?" Clarke explains, receiving a nod.

"I'll get the stretcher." Finn tells them.

"Can't run away fast enough, huh?" Bellamy asks, causing him to stop and turn around. "Real brave."

"Dying in a fight you can't win isn't brave, Bellamy, it's stupid." Finn replies.

"Spoke like every coward who's ever run from a fight." Bellamy states.

"Alright, that's enough." Clarke demands. "It's time to go."

"If they follow? It's a hundred and twenty mile to the ocean." Bellamy informs.

"Look, we're wasting time. If he wants to stay, he can stay." Finn insists.

Y/n shakes her head. "No, he can't."

Finn, however, ignores her words as he stomps out of the dropship in search for the stretcher for his best friend. The Griffin twins share a glance and a sigh before looking at Bellamy who was glaring at the spot Finn was just in.

"We can't do this without you, Bellamy." Y/n tells him.

"What do you guys want me to say?" Bellamy questions.

"We want you to say that you're with us. Those kids out there, they listen to you." Clarke informs.

Bellamy shakes his head. "They're lining up to go. They listen to both of you more."

"We gave them an easy choice. But five minutes ago, they were willing to fight and die for you." Y/n recalls.

"Bellamy, you inspired them." Clarke adds. "I'm afraid we're gonna need that again before this day is through."

And with that, the sisters exited the dropship, leaving him inside. After a little while, the gate was opening up and the crowd of teenagers held rifles in their hands as they walked out into the forest, making their way to their destination. The Griffin twins stood side by side on the sidelines just outside of the camp. People continued making their way past them, Octavia having the sword Lincoln had given to Finn to give to her around her shoulder instead of a rifle.

Finn began to pass them, his eyes looking to Y/n as he carried one side of the stretcher for Raven, another boy carrying the other side. They stared at each other before Finn fully passed her and Clarke couldn't help but nudge her twin a bit. Noticing that there was still one more person to join them, they look back and see Bellamy standing by the fire that had slowly began drowning out. Hand in hand, they venture to him, bag straps over their shoulders.

"You did good here, Bellamy." Clarke tells him.

"Eighteen dead." Bellamy reminds.

"Eighty-two alive." Y/n argues. "You did good."

Nodding in response, the twins watch as he grabs a bucket full of water and dumps it onto the fire, a loud sizzling sound being heard as the fire went out, smoke coming up into the air. Bellamy drops the bucket and together, the three made their way out of their camp, following the others. For a little while, the campers all walked in silence until they found themselves stopping, no doubt being whoever it was at the front.

Meanwhile, Octavia had been leading the way until she had stopped in her tracks, hand held out as a signal for everyone else to stop. The Blake girl ignored Jasper's question of what it was, claiming he didn't see anything afterwards. Everyone else behind them glanced around in confusion, wondering what possibly could've made Octavia stop and get all tense all of a sudden.

Suddenly, an axe flew right through the air and nailed a boy right in the face, causing him to drop to the ground, now dead in front of most of his friends. Both Jasper and Miller's eyes widen as the boy had been in-between them. The leaders eyes widened at the sight as they had began to walk forward to know what they stopped for, but stopped in their tracks upon seeing the now lifeless boy on the ground.

"Grounders!" Jasper shouts.

Screams leaving past their lips, all the campers started sprinting back to the direction of their camp, knowing they'd be safer there than out in the woods where their enemies were. Being one of the first people there, the three leaders were ushering people inside as they stood by the gates. Finn had gotten his injured best friend off the stretcher, one of her arms wrapped around his shoulders while her other one was wrapped around another boys shoulders while they sped inside the camp, going to put Raven in the dropship.

Meanwhile, Bellamy stood up on a crate so he could see over the walls and out into the forest, his rifle aimed towards the trees. No grounders were in sight, but everyone single person in camp knew they were there, especially after they had just killed another one of their own in the blink of an eye. The Griffin twins stepped up onto the crate and stood on either side of him as they looked out ahead of them.

"Where are they? Why aren't they attacking?" Bellamy asks.

"Because we're doing exactly what they wanted us to do." Clarke realizes.

"What are you talking about?" Bellamy questions.

Y/n turns around, looking at Finn who stood below them. "Lincoln said the scouts would be the first to arrive."

"If it's just scouts, we can fight our way out." Octavia cuts in. "That's what Lincoln would do."

"We're done doing what that grounder would do." Bellamy protests as he hops off the crate he stood on. "We tried it and now Drew is dead. You wanna be next?"

"That grounder saved our lives." Finn argues. "I agree with Octavia. For all we know, there's one scout out there."

"One scout with insanely good aim." Jasper intervenes, speaking up.

"Clarke, Y/n, we can still do this." Octavia tells the sisters.

"Looking to you two, princesses. What's it gonna be? Run and get picked off out in the open, or stand and fight back?" Bellamy asks.

Everyone in camp watches as the Griffin twins look at each other, then looking out at the forest. Their eyes met again, seeming to share a knowing look before they hopped down the crate just as Finn reaches out and grabs Y/n's arm.

"Y/n. If we're still here when Tristan gets here--" Finn starts.

"Lincoln said "scouts". More than one." Y/n interrupts. "He said, "Get home before the scouts arrive". Finn, they're already here."

Clarke turns to Bellamy. "Looks like you've got your fight."

Nodding in reply, the Blake boy turns to the crowd and began ordering things around. Many of the gunners went through a tunnel to the foxholes they had began to built the day before. After about a minute, the Griffin twins found themselves venturing to Bellamy after Octavia had followed the gunners into the tunnel.

"So, how the hell do we do this?" Clarke questions.
