CHAPTER FIVE:

"THEY'RE ALL GONE."

The sun was still up brightly, not seeming to hide in it's usual hiding spot like it did everyday as the chirps of birds and crickets and the buzzes of the insects flying by could be heard, adding to the sound of the engine of a vehicle as it drove along the dirt road that had been created throughout the years ever since the bombs, the large trees of the forests that had also been created all around the planet, covering the sun from the branches and leaves with whoever could be seen in the woods.

Just a bit outside of Polis, a vehicle parked just as another rover stops just a bit behind it, the doors opening with a creak before they were being slammed close as the group that had decided to leave Mount Weather and go to
Polis before the attack exited the vehicle. All of them held weapons with them, all except for Echo, as her once weapon had been taken out of her grip when she had been caught by two men, the same two men the Blake siblings had spotted when they were outside with one another.

While Bellamy and Pike had the guns in their hands, Octavia and Y/n kept their hands near the direction of their swords that had been sheathed behind their backs while they were slowly walking forward, no one in the group liking the silence that was echoing around after they slammed their doors shut while their eyes looked around, seeing no one in sight.

"Where are the guards?" Bellamy questions, voice full of curiosity. "Protocol would be to leave someone behind."

The group had slowly been making their way forward, continuing to keep a look out as Echo was a bit behind them, her steps slow as she glanced around. On their side, Octavia was just a bit in front of Y/n as she got closer to the front of the parked rover they had been moving towards until she was looking inside the opened window. Two guards from Arkadia sat inside, blood all over their necks as their throats had been slashed, no doubt from the Ice Nation as they laid lifeless in the seats they had been sitting in.

"They did." Octavia points out.

Almost right after she said that, she unsheathed her sword and nodded for Y/n to do the same, which she did. Bellamy had ventured towards the front with Pike right behind him, his finger moving close to the trigger in case of anything as their eyes soon caught sight of the two lifeless bodies, Y/n also looking before she met Bellamy's eyes, both sharing an uneasy look.

While the Blake siblings and Y/n were keeping an eye out, Pike's eyes had casted over to Echo, who had just been standing there in silence with no weapon in her hand and finding himself clenching his jaw in anger, he stormed up to her.

"This was your people." Pike accuses.

"Screw you!" Echo replies in Trig.

"Hey, she warned us." Y/n reminds. "This proves she was telling the truth."

"We don't have time for this. The attack is at sundown." Bellamy recalls.

Octavia sighs, looking to Echo. "I'm not leaving my blade here."

"None of us are." Echo agrees. "We go in through the tunnels. The entrance is this way."

She let herself walk past Pike, who had been slightly glaring at her as she ventured by the others. Bellamy was soon trailing behind her with Octavia and Y/n side by side behind him, leaving Pike to be the last one in the group. Eventually, they were following Echo into the tunnels as they turned on their flashlights so they could see up ahead of them, weapons kept tight in their grips in case if there were any threats hiding inside the tunnels they were currently in.

It wasn't long until they were near a corner, hearing grunts on the other side. All of them stopped as Bellamy slowly peaked over, seeing two grounders turning something as they didn't seem to notice the Blake boy watching them before he turned back to the group.

"Two guards." Bellamy announces.

"They raise the lift. The elevator shaft is our only way in. We have to climb." Echo declares.

However, Pike was peaking from the wall before claiming he had left and the next thing they knew, he was rushing forward with Bellamy soon right behind him.

The three girls watched with slight wide eyes as the men rushed forward and were fighting against the grounders until Pike stabbed the one he had and Bellamy broke the other's neck, a loud crack echoing throughout the part they were in,ย  until they were laying lifeless in front of them. Once seeing the coast was clear, they were rushing down the hall until they were in front of the men.

Y/n narrows her eyes on Bellamy. "What is wrong with you? You didn't have to kill them."

"Yeah, I did." Bellamy replies, noticing the nod Pike gave him before opening the elevator shaft and peaking inside, looking at the tall ladder. "How many floors?"

Echo gulps. "All of them."

Only nodding, the boy walks inside with his sister behind him, then everyone else as they began climbing up the tall ladder with Bellamy being at the front. After just about a minute or so, they were finally getting at the very top, opening up a small door before they were all up and out.

Once outside some doors, Bellamy grabbed ahold the guard outside, holding his gun close to the grounder's head as they stormed into the throne room. Y/n was in between the Blake siblings, sword aimed forward like Octavia's as they glanced around at all the grounders.

The commander of Trikru, Lexa, stood right in front of her throne as she stepped back a bit in surprise. Clarke Griffin's eyes widened at the sight of her friends before they landed on her sister, seeing how she looked after not seeing her for three months and just wondering why she was here as she called her sister's name, and then Bellamy's as she stood beside her mother and Marcus Kane. It was then that Y/n noticed how dressed up her sister was, looking like a grounder, dressed similar to Lexa.

"What is the meaning of this?" A grounder asks.

"The summit's a trap." Bellamy announces as he looks to Clarke. "We need to get you out of here."

Clarke looks to the commander. "What the hell is going on?"

"I don't know." Lexa grunts out.

"It's the Ice Nation." Bellamy tells them.

"These allegations are an outrage." A grounder speaks up. "The Ice Nation never stormed this summit with weapons, breaking our laws. That was the Skaikru."

"We're right about this. The two guards you left behind are dead already." Pike informs, looking at Kane. "We need to go now."

"How did you come by this information?" Lexa questions.

No one in the group says a word as they looked behind them at Echo, only to share exchanges of confusion as their eyes looked around the room when they saw no Echo in sight, wondering how she could have just disappeared like that without them noticing and wondering where she could have possibly gone.

"Where the hell is Echo?" Octavia mumbles in question.

Bellamy furrows his brows. "What's going on? Where the hell is she?"

"Bellamy, maybe we were wrong about this." Y/n suggests, avoiding her sister's eyes as the blonde had been looking at her.

Bellamy shakes his head. "I don't understand."

Kane then walks over to the boy, telling him to stand down as he places a hand on the gun he was holding. Seeing that there didn't seem to be anything happening at the moment, Bellamy lets himself unwrap the strap of the gun from his neck and shoulders as he gave it to Kane. Just then, Raven's voice comes through the walkie he had, her voice sounding panic and full of devastation that had him grabbing it almost an instant.

"The grounders attacked Mount Weather." Raven's voice blurts out.

"What are you talking about?" Bellamy asks in confusion.

"It's gone. They're all gone. Sinclair and I are the only ones left." Raven cries, sobs following. "I'm so sorry."

There was a silence throughout the throne room as people took in the news, all while Raven's sobs could be heard from the other side. All those people inside the mountain, smiles on their faces as they had fun and away from the grounders were all dead. Bellamy's girlfriend was dead. The attack Echo warned them about wasn't happening in Polis, it happened at Mount Weather instead.

A grounder steps forward. "You should have never moved your people back into Mount Weather. The Ice Nation did what Lexa was too weak to do."

"This is an act of war. Sentries, arrest the Ice Nation delegation, including the prince." Lexa orders, to which two Ice Nation grounders were being forced out of the room.

"We need to get home." Abby tells Kane. "If they attacked Mount Weather, Arkadia could be next."

Kane nods. "I agree."

"Go. Marshal your forces. We'll avenge the attack together." Lexa reassures.

"I'll escort them." Indra offers before she was turning to Y/n and Octavia. "I hope you two kept up your training. You'll both need it."

"Clarke, we need to leave now." Y/n informs her sister, who was standing beside the commander.

Lexa shakes her head. "We need an ambassador from the thirteenth clan to stay here in Polis."

"It's not safe here." Bellamy states.

"Clarke will be safe here under my protection." Lexa replies.

Clarke walks to her mother, glancing between her and her sister. "I have to stay. I have to make sure she keeps her word."

Abby seemed to slowly give in to her eldest daughter's wishes as she slowly nods before wrapping her arms around the blonde, feeling her hug back after a couple seconds. When they did pull away, they held one another's hands softly before the woman turned around and left with the others following.

Clarke's eyes watched her mother leave before she met her sister's eyes. Y/n had been staring at her twin with a slight frown, seeming to think if she should go up to her. However, a frown etched onto Clarke's face as it deepened when her sister only turned around and left the room, her eyes watching her leave as Bellamy was the last to leave.
