PLOT

Sunlight filters through the leaves of the array of trees surrounding her, golden light seeming to float in the small pathway of the forest. Calliope lays back against the smooth, grey trunk of her favorite tree in the garden. Her dark eyes look up into the bright green leaves that fade into the white and black patterned drunk. Her body rests in a bed of multi-shaded purple blossoms. There is nothing more peaceful than this place.

A sanctuary for all, that's what her home has become and always will be. And recently, it has become home to several unusual guests - the Eternals. However, this strange family-like group is greatly welcomed into "Paradise". They offer stories and company as they honor their commitment to save humanity from the deviants and help them progress. Calliope loves these strangers; their healer and leader, their changer, warriors, and intellectuals. But the one that makes the princess' stomach flutter alight with butterflies is the speedster - Makkari.

The dark haired woman appears, resting her head in the princess' lap as though she was summoned simply by Calliope's thoughts. Her calloused fingers are quick to tap the nose of the girl in her lap. Makkari stares up at her in surprise, a light shining in her eyes as she takes Calliope's hand. Calliope lets the girl have her hand, closing her eyes as she feels her fingers moving quickly across her palm. A laugh escapes her lips as Makkari signs into her hand and Calliope's open to look down at her.
Calliope's fingers move with her lips as she signs out the one thing that she must know.

"Have they decided when your group will continue?"

Makkari shakes her head no, moving her hands slowly so the princess can keep up with the language she only learned a few days ago.

"There are still deviants in this area. Phastos says they seem to be waiting on the outside of the border. What are they waiting for?"

"They may be able to sense the powers here..."

"Aprosdókitos?"

It's Calliope's turn to shake her head no, "come with me."

Princess and Eternal, hand-in-hand, making their way through the forests of a place no one knows of. Along paths made from ages of consistent travel, gardens and plants blooming alongside paths adorned with rivers and waterfalls that cascade into glittering pools. The mountain grows quieter as the pair continue trekking upwards. The path here is messy, evidently less traveled. And it's quiet here, unnaturally quiet and despite the life surrounding them, it feels more than empty. Calliope leads Makkari to the mouth of a cavern, jaw wide and beckoning its prey to take the trembling step into the secrets it holds.

"Do you trust me?"

"Without a doubt."

With that Calliope takes a deep breath and steps into the shadows of the cave. Down, down, down. The pair take careful steps along a path that slopes downwards, always approaching the light of the exit in the distance. Calliope turns to Makkari and grins as they step into the light.

If the Eternal thought that she had seen an impressive garden in Allira she was just proven wrong. Multi-colored birds of unnatural colors soar through the air. The trees sway in breezes that carry the sweet scents of uncountable fruits to her nose that have her eyes fluttering closed. There's a shine here, a glow in the midst of the hidden garden surrounding a tree. Tall, magnificent limbs fading in purples until the violent colors meet grey tree trunk patterned with black and white rings. And under its branches lies a princess smiling down at the eternal in her lap, telling her the story of the garden and how she came to be.

EXTRA INFORMATION

— Calliope lives near Ancient Babylon (very close to wear the Doma rests) and the Eternals accidentally find the hidden kingdom of Allira while hunting down deviants. The mismatched society of people, consisting of refugees and people there when the kingdom was created, welcome the eternals.
— The timeline is closer to when they would go their separate ways BUT obviously not in that civilization because Allira is a place entirely created by me (which I'll be talking about more later).
— Calliope is a princess whose family has been on the throne of the small kingdom of Allira for ages AND they guard a secret garden known to give a "prolonged life". As a princess, Calliope has access to the garden and as her father is already in his 200s, she has an even greater chance at a long life.
— When Calliope meets Makkari she falls head over heels for the quiet, funny, and beautiful warrior, she devotes herself to learning the girl's language, and she even shows Makkari the garden promising that as long as Makkari can run to her, she'll be waiting. They're a fastburn, but if you wanted to i would love to see the plot start closer to the beginning of the flashbacks and slow-burn Makkari and Calliope over years of sweet gestures and time spent together;
— When the eternals go their own ways, Makkari comes back to her princess and stays with her in Allira except when the pair go explore the world for short periods of time and when they hide out in the Doma.
— Allira: a small kingdom hidden by an unknown magic from the gods that has created a sanctuary for these peoples. Only people who are either not searching for the city or are desperate for a refuge are able to find this place. Allira is a beautiful place, gardens and waterfalls, and incredible feats of architecture and inventions that even Phastos is amazed by the progress of these people. Allira is a place that is supposed to be safe, they haven't been exposed to the outside and won't be very influenced by the people of the world except accepting the new refugees every few hundred years or so. This means that although Allira is a little behind on the cultural times, they consider life to be as it is and accept things easily. (Inspired by the Encanto, Wakanda, and the village in Shang-Chi).
— Allira is on the side of a mountain, but within the mountain is a place that holds a special garden that they have nicknamed "Paradise". The garden was giving to the Allira family to aid them in protecting this sanctuary. It offers a prolonged life to men with the Allira blood in their veins AND it offers immortality to women who eat of the garden and who have the Allira blood in their veins. it's not immortality, immortality though. although the Allira women can live for forever and are stronger and healthier they can still be killed. if a woman of the Allira bloodline doesn't want to live for forever, they simply just can not eat of the garden (then they will have the same benefits as the men). this also means that those married into the Allira family can't receive any benefits from the garden.
— Calliope: she's the first princess born into the Allira family in a few generations so she's treated like a princess; at sixteen she was allowed to choose to eat from the garden, and she did because she wants the chance to look after her people for as long as she can stay alive, now that Makkari is in her life she's beyond excited to live forever with her Eternal wife; she's very sweet, caring, and devoted; she's compassionate and fierce and loves learning; she's your soft core lesbian who likes soft clothes and gardening and she's very much like a golden retriever; Calliope loves seeing the world with Makkari, but she's very in touch with reality; her father dies before Eternals takes place and it crushes Calliope; Esra takes the throne because he's the older sibling, but even then he's decently old, and she knows that one day she's going to lose him too and then she'll be the first Queen on the throne since shortly after Allira was founded; plus her and Makkari will technically be the first Queens of Allira (and I find this extremely adorable);
— She has a silver broadsword that she's nicknamed aprosdókitos (which is greek for unexpected). That's because the sword is hand-me-down from the last queen of Allira that was blessed by the same gods that created Allira. It can emit a light that can burn through anything (inspired by a lightsaber).
— Calliope and Makkari: Makkari is most definitely the tough one in the relationship; their love language is touch and gifts because spelling out or tapping their little language of sweet things and "i love you"'s on each other is ten times better than signing it; Makkari is very protective of Calliope but Calliope is just as protective of Makkari, they both know that despite their "eternalness" they can still lose each other
— Calliope learns how to fight first from Esra and then more so from Makkari; she has supersoldier like abilities in her stamina and strength and she's a quick thinker which keeps her one step ahead; when the Eternals finally collect Phastos they have to head out to Allira before going to the Doma because they have to pick up Makkari first. Druig, Sersi, and Phastos are the ones who go into the city to grab Makkari and Calliope isn't about to be left out on extended family fun.
— Calliope is with the Eternals through everything: Ikaris revealing the truth, Sprite going with him, Kingo leaving, the Emergence, stopping the Emergence, and Ikaris flying away; (if there are any details of the actual Eternals plot that you want to change [ie Kingo not fighting Ikaris] then feel free too) Calliope and Makkari's story is definitely going to be more affected in the pre-Eternals, "the reason we're here is to literally help kill this planet", and the end credit scenes of Eternals;
— feel free to recast Calliope and/or her family BUT THEY MUST BE GREEK!!
