Thirteen years later

"I'm sorry, you want me to what?" A now  twenty two year old (Y/N) stands baffled, her paws shoved deep into the pockets of her jacket. She stares down at her best friend, who stands excitedly with two police academy forms already filled out in her tiny paws.

Judy sighs and rolls her eyes with a small smile. "Oh come on! When have we not done anything together? This'll be fun! (L/N) and Hopps taking down crime." She moves her arms wildly, her voice just above a soft mumble as to not wake her parents up in the next room.

(Y/N) licks her lips in thought. "I don't know Judy, I mean..I'm a fox..and you're.." she stops her words, staring deep into her friend's wide eyed and hopeful stare.

The bunny sniffs, her expression slowly turning down as she watches her friend. "Yeah..okay, you're right." She says quickly, and begins to tuck the forms back into her pants pockets. "It was a silly idea, I just thought-" she clears her throat, but looks up when (Y/N) gently takes one of the forms with her name on it and walks towards a cabinet.

"What are you-?" Judy says softly, and her eyes widen when the form is thrusted back her way, the information quickly and messily scribbled down. Hesitantly she takes the form, and can't help the small smile breaking out on her face. "No (Y/N) I can't force you to do this!" She quickly protests, and is silenced by the loud and exaggerated sigh of her friend.

"Just sign your damn form, rabbit." (Y/N) laughs, a genuine smile on her small face. "We'll figure this out together, like we always do." She shrugs, a laid back tilt of her head making Judy laugh. She brings her arm up, and extends her pointer finger.

"(L/N) and Hopps?"

Judy grins, and a small squeal makes it's way from the back of her throat as she quickly hooks her own pointer finger with her friend's, and draws her hand back with a 'snap'.

She laughs, and quickly sits down at the end of her family's long couch to fill in her own form. "I promise you will not regret this!"

(Y/N) watches her, letting out a long sigh through her nose while she continues to smile, but can't help the flick of her tail nervously brushing the floor behind her.

Two years later

It had taken (Y/N) (L/N) well over a few months (safe for the time it took for her and Judy to actually decide to enter the police force) to pass their training with flying colors.

Of course many would argue that having a fox, let alone a bunny into the police force was a risky and otherwise unwise move, this proved wrong as Judy passed at the top of her class, with (Y/N) a close second despite her previous objections to apply.

Now the young twenty four year old fox and bunny stand proud infront of their families, both of which were extremely nervous to send their daughters off into the big and unknown world of Zootopia. Where crime was big and the criminals were even bigger!

"I packed you extra blueberries incase you get hungry-oh and also your favorite travel pillow, your clothes-and don't forget you need to call us atleast two time-no scratch that three times a day.." (Y/N) stands amused as her father, a somewhat always worried fox lists all the items and essentials she would need for her trip.

Her mother laughs, and places a hand on her husbands shoulder. "Dear, she'll be fine, won't you sweetheart?" (Y/N) grins.

"Of course I will-" she tries to speak but is interrupted by her father.

"I know that!" He exclaims, his ears flickering rapidly. "But I don't know how long it'll be before I see you! And you'll be in a city that's surrounded by all sorts of animals and..." he trails off almost as quickly as he when he started talking.

"..people don't take kindly to foxes, (Y/N), you know that." He says gently, and both his wife and daughter can't help but frown.

(Y/N)'s mom nods slowly. "He has a point my dear, I mean, even Bonnie and Stu have their reservations about us and we've known them for years!" She says softly as to not attract attention. Her daughter sighs, and brings her parent's into a tight embrace.

"I promise I'll be careful, and don't worry, I'll still come and visit." She assures them. "And besides, I won't be alone." Gesturing towards the approaching train, she begins to take small steps backwards.

"I'll be with Judy of all people, she'd be the last person I'd have to worry about having 'reservations' about foxes."

She bids them a final goodbye before hoping into the train after her friend, nerves and excitement eating into her.

The two wait till the doors close behind them, and they turn to wave goodbye towards their families and friends. (Y/N) places her paw over her heart, her ears dropping as she watches her parents slowly follow after the train before stopping and waving high, their figures blurring into the distance as they begin to leave BunnyBurrow.

The two finally make it the front of the train, and (Y/N) takes a seat with a tired sigh. She leaves Judy to plug in her earphones and slowly begins to look around at the scenery.

The train would take at most twenty minutes, so the fox decided to folding her arms and stretching her head back, and watches the sky blur past from upside down.

_____

(Y/N) quickly had to rush out the train to keep up with her excited friend. After all it wasn't everyday that you would be in Zootopia of all places, the so called 'paradise' for any and all animals. Looking around, the fox watches amazed as all kinds of species roamed about.

The architecture was no joke either, as food stalls, escalators, elevators and all kinds of public transport were all so different and built in ways that it would suit every kind of animal, no matter how big and small.

But what intrigued her the most were the carnivores. She watches as a tiger uses his claws to puncture the exterior of a can of soda, and how a bobcat cackled and laughed, canines on full display.

It felt almost alien to her, watching all kinds of different predators like her go about their day without having to worry about frightening or scaring off any poor or uneasy prey.

Slowly, she allows herself to smile, a big, wide smile that felt unfamiliar. She lets her canines poke out, and shoots a hesitant smile to a tiny lemming wobbling his way most likely from his office job given the small tuxedo he sported.

The lemming looks up at her and raises a brow, but gives her a small smile in return without much thought and continues on his way. (Y/N) stands stunned, and a little excited about that small but meaningful interaction.

She huffs when she bumps into Judy, who stands still to admire the view infront of them. The large buildings, the colorful lights and all the open space just begging to be explored. The two stare, awestruck, before their attention is caught by a large build board aiming straight at the train station.

A Gazelle, the Gazelle, stands tall, her hand on her hip while her sparkly red two piece shimmers as she nods her head in greeting towards those finding their way around town.

Her virtual self smiles, a beautiful smile that almost had (Y/N) smiling back before she finally spoke, and all of the young grey foxes nerves seemed to have melted away.

"I'm Gazelle, welcome to Zootopia."
