Verdant trees sped by in blurs outside the window, the view obscured by the smudged taxi glass. It was unbearably hot, but perhaps that was just the anxiety getting to the twins.

Sabrina gazed out the window at the scenery surrounding the Virginian town they were being forced to relocate to.
Her dainty hand clasping Issa's clammy one — over the years the moves made him more and more anxious.
He didn't like not knowing what their next foster parents would be like, and how they would react to his troublesome older sister.

He had his earphones planted firmly in his ears already, music always helping calm him from the loud noises of the outside world that bothered him. Issac tried to imagine what their new family was going to be like — apparently they were their distant relatives. It gave him hope that maybe they'd be one of the good families.

Sabrina scowled as she tapped her foot anxiously, she'd always had trouble sitting still — it didn't help that she was also violently travel sick most of the time. She focused intently on her breathing knowing that if she vomited it would set off a chain reaction of Issac puking. Knowing her luck the driver would chuck them out on the side of the road.

Her eyes narrowed in on the 'Welcome to Mystic Falls' sign that she couldn't just barley make out under the dim streetlights and an unwanted pit formed in her empty stomach.

She'd done some digging on the town that they were oh so suddenly being relocated to. And she didn't like what she found one bit. Animal attacks, missing people, unexplained deaths — it was freaky, and this was coming from the girl who could make things violently explode with her mind.
Issac laid his head on his sisters shoulder, noting that she was starting to overthink — again — Sabrina rested her head on top of his, closed her eyes and tried to calm her racing heart.

They wouldn't be there long anyway, they never were.

The Mikaelson family stood outside of their home anxiously waiting to see what their human relatives were like, "Finally another girl." Rebekah muttered out, glaring spitefully at her brothers as though it were their faults that they had been born boy's. She couldn't wait to teach her great-grand-niece, well her great times a lot grand niece, how exactly to get on her brother's nerves.

Klaus simply grunted in annoyance. When Elijah announced that they had more relatives he was more than happy to leave them be — or go and murder them —depending on his mood. But, Elijah was adamant that since they were Kol's descendants he got to decide on whether or not the brats would come to live with them.

Honestly Klaus thought that Kol had chosen to let them stay just to irritate him.

The taxi that Klaus had sent for them driven by one of his sired hybrids pulled up in front of the house and the originals all straitened themselves out. The first to step out of was the boy. He was tall, but not lanky. His fingers clutched at the sleeves of his stripy jumper, and he hid his eyes behind his overgrown blonde curls. The boy seemed shy, timid even — odd for a Mikaelson.

A second figure emerged from the car, large black boots making a crunch on the ground as her ripped tights and short skirt were revealed. A leather jacket that was slightly oversized covered her short frame, and her curly blonde locks had several braids running down the side of her head. Her eye make up was dark and slightly smudged, and Rebekah could also make out several ear ad cartilage piercings from the distance.

Klaus did not allow himself to outwardly grimace at the dark purple bruise that marred the girls cheek, along with the sore looking split lip. Elijah had arranged for the children to be sent to them immediately — with a large amount of compulsion — once he found out about the abuse and neglect his relatives were enduring.

Her eyes were glacial blue and she regarded the family with cold looks. Although they couldn't help but notice the way she allowed the taller boy to grip onto her hand in comfort or the way she smiled, a minuscule comforting smile at him.

"Welcome," Elijah stepped forward as the head of the household, their mother had seemingly disappeared for the day. Though she had just returned from the grave, it appeared she was too busy to greet their relatives. While Finn was still clinging to her skirts like a child, "it's a pleasure to finally meet you,"

The girl stared at his outstretched hand blankly, while the boy gave him an insecure smile. The polite smile on Elijah's face dropped as disappointment shined in his eyes for only a moment, and then the smile was back, "Why don't you both get unpacked? I'm sure you're tired from your journey." He nodded at his sister to direct them to their rooms as they all entered the luxurious mansion.

While Issac marvelled at his surroundings, used to living in much poorer conditions. Sabrina simply stayed in the doorway, "I'll join you in a minute."

Though he looked reluctant, Issac continued to climb the stairs with Rebekah who immediately started talking his ear off, "Here's the deal, most families last a few months with us," she gazed at the lavish surrounding wrinkling her nose, "but posh folk like you, I give you a few weeks."

"We're your family." To the Mikaelson's surprise Kol was the one to step forwards, a confused frown on his face.

"Just because we share the same last name doesn't mean we're all going to be sitting round a fire singing Kumbaya and eating s'mores."

With that she stomped up the stairs, blonde hair flowing behind her in a flurry. Her eyes staring down at her dirty old boots that contrasted violently against the white of their fancy spiral staircase. She was glad they hadn't noticed the wind picking up inside the house when she was ranting — she really needed to get that under control.

"Charming." Kol punched Klaus in the arm for his remark and strode off to his own bedroom to sulk.

Sabrina ran her fingers along the comfy bed that stood in the centre of her oversized room. It must have been at least three times the size of any room she'd ever had.

She wondered what it would have been like to grow up here, maybe she wouldn't be so bitter, maybe she wouldn't be so cold. Perhaps Issac wouldn't be so anxious and co-dependent, able to live his life to the fullest.

Her eyebrows furrowed as she threw her two bin bags that were filled with all the things she owned onto the floor and pulled back the bedsheet. Hesitantly reaching her hand out she touched the hot water bottle laying innocently on the bed with hesitant hands. Unsure of what to make of the gesture.

Wiping under her eyes, Sabrina got changed and crawled into bed. The hot water bottle pressed awkwardly to her stomach as she clenched her arms around it.
A knock on her door had her shooting up in an instant, heart thudding frantically in her chest as she remembered she had left her pocket knife in her boot. To her relief the door creaked open and Issac peeked his head inside, his eyes anxiously scanning the room, "Can I sleep in here tonight? Please?"

Sabrina gazed at his ruffled appearance sombrely. His eyes were puffy and red and his hair was a complete and utter mess — reminding Sabrina that she needed to give him a trim soon, "Come on." She lifted the covers of the queen sized bed up and he immediately dove in like a frightened kitten. He detested being alone in a new house. Every little noise keeping him awake, unless Sabrina was right beside him.

She had been his protector as long as he could remember.
The two settled down for the night, and Sabrina only allowed herself to drift off when she was sure Issac was peacefully sleeping. Muttering out a quiet promise.
"I won't let anyone hurt you, ever."
