THE MIKAELSON FAMILY WERE a large one to say the least. The brothers and sister an attractive lot that drew attention from the occupants of their little village — it was a wonder how none of them were married. So it shouldn't have been too much of a surprise that one of the Mikaelson brothers got a maiden pregnant before they became vampires and fled the village fearful of their fathers wrath. Leaving before the heartbroken girl could reveal her news. All alone pregnant and unwed, the girl persevered and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. To honour his father she donned him with the last name; Mikealson — unknowingly cursing their entire bloodline tainted by the bloodshed of their vampiric relatives.
