[The Praetor Lupus is on the hunt for Heidi in dark underground tunnels. Jordan is leading the group.]

CAROLINE: They were searching for that vampire bitch.

JORDAN: Heidi cannot run forever. Even vampires tire. Okay, you four, cover the exits. Nick and I will flush her out. Stay sharp, stay smart. Stay in control. Let's go.

[Jordan and Nick go in one direction, searching with flashlights.]

NICK: Capture, not kill? Come on, Jordan.

KOL: I agree with him, kill her matter solved.

JORDAN: You are not winning this one, so save your energy.

NICK: I'm just saying. We had her in custody once. How'd that work out?

JORDAN: Praetor Scott put me in charge, so follow my orders. We're on two feet, not four.

NICK: That's your thing. Look, I get it. I was there when you first came in. You scratched your girlfriend. [Jordan jumps over the tracks, shining his flashlight on a body] Damn it, Jordan. That's it. Enough is enough. I'm taking her down.

[Nick walks a few steps back, drops his flashlight and starts transforming into a wolf.]

TYLER: He was in transformation.

JORDAN: Nick. Get a hold of yourself.

[Nick grunts as he transforms. Once he is a wolf, he starts running further into the tunnels, knocking over trashcans in the process.]

JORDAN: Nick! Nick!

[Jordan runs after him. Cut to Nick as a wolf standing still. Suddenly, a weapon is thrown right at him. Nick growls and yelps. He transforms back into a human as Heidi approaches him. Heidi kneels by him and pulls out her dagger. Jordan has appeared on the scene.]

STEFAN: She stabbed him with a dagger.

LUKE: A silver one, lethal to wolves in our world.

JORDAN: Nick! Nick! Nick!

HEIDI: You can't blame a girl for defending herself. [kneeling down by Nick when Jordan comes closer] Pure sterling silver. Drop the stake, or I finish him off.

[Jordan drops the stake eventually.]

JORDAN: You have to stop this.

HEIDI: It's not my fault that bad things keep happening to me.

JORDAN: It is your fault, Heidi. Nick, the mundanes you killed, Simon.

[Heidi rises.]

HEIDI: I was trying to help Simon.

BONNIE: That's not help.

JORDAN: That is not how help works.

HEIDI: Says the wolf who drugged me and locked me away in Long Island.

DAVINA: She deserves worse.

[Around both corners, members of the Praetor Lupus appear. Heidi is surrounded.]

JORDAN: Surrender yourself.

HEIDI: I don't think so.

[With her vamp speed, Heidi is in one corner at the moment, then in the other. Then she's gone. Jordan kneels by Nick.]

ELENA: She escaped again.

JORDAN: Hey! Nick. Nick. [Nick is not breathing anymore] Beati Bellicosi. 

[INTRO IS SHOWN] 

Rosaline opens her eyes and flashes her alpha eyes who had golden hue. She swings her katanas and fearless rune is showed. Achatius is standing in Edom and his eyes turn black and white wings appear behind his back. Theodore's magical bow appears and he stretches its string forming the strength rune. Jonathan is shown showing his demon eyes and his seraph blade appears. He cuts the air and flexibility rune is show. Clary is seen blowing the candles on her birthday cake forming the angelic rune. Jace is seen jumping from a building with eagles surrounding him. He jumps on the ground splashing the water which forms heightened speed rune. Alec is seen a room with healing rune drawn on one of the walls. He aims his arrow. Isabelle is now shown swinging her blade forming the parabatai rune. Simon is seen wiping the blood on his lips in hotel de mort. The whole background turns black and white. Luke is seen with a wall behind him covered with runes and wolves. Magnus is drinking his cocktail. Scene splits and shows Theo and Rose using their magic and flashing their golden red eyes. Achatius hands have sparkles dancing. Then all the runes are shown burning and Rosaline, Theo, Clary, Jace, Jonathan, Alec and Isabelle are shown walking and the title Shadowhunter appears with The Mortal Instruments written below. And the screen turns black.  

[TITLE SCREEN] 

[SIMON'S APARTMENT]

[Izzy wakes up on a couch, confused.]

ISABELLE: Where am I?

[Simon is in the kitchen, and goes to Izzy with tea. He sits across from her on the coffee table.]

SIMON: My apartment. Sorry, you kinda just passed out on the way back and I didn't know how to explain everything to your brother, so... [handing Izzy the cup] Here. How are you?

ISABELLE: I'm okay. I'm just drained.

SIMON: Izzy, I'm so sorry about that.

ISABELLE: It was a joke.

SIMON: You could have died.

ISABELLE: You would have done the same for me.

SIMON: But I don't have the same preexisting conditions.

ISABELLE: You mean my addiction?

SIMON: Look, if me and my fangs give you a temptation, say the word and I'll...

ISABELLE: I can handle it, okay? I'll be fine. I should get back to the Institute.

[Izzy puts on her shoes. Then her and Simon's phone both beep. They read the message, then look at each other, stunned.]

FREYA: They found out that you are alive.

[THE INSTITUTE]

[Clary, Luke, Jace, Rose, Theo, Jonathan, Magnus and Alec are already in the Institute when Simon and Izzy enter. Simon comes running through the Ops Center.]

SIMON: ROSE! [embracing Rose in a hug] Hey.

ROSE: Hi.

SIMON: Hi. [out of the hug] Am I dreaming?

THEO: No.

SIMON: I'm not?

ROSE: No.

[Simon pulls Rose in for another hug. He realizes Izzy wants to speak to Rose, too so he pulls back.]

SIMON: Okay. Sorry, sorry.

[Izzy goes and pulls Theo into a hug.]

THEO: Easy, there, sis.

ROSE: [to Izzy] What am I a chopped liver?

They laughed at this.

ISABELLE: Hi. [they hug for a moment] Tell me where that Achatius is. I'm gonna kill that son of a bitch with my bare hands.

JACE: You can't.

JONATHAN: None of us can.

SIMON: Why?

ROSE: [showing her chest] Lilith carved this rune into me, right before your mark blasted her back to Hell.

THEO: The rune ties Rose's life force to Achatius'.

LUKE: Hurt one of them, you hurt the other in the exact same way.

[Alec turns on which shows footage of Achatius in the antique shop in Paris with the words: "Achatius, wanted alive".]

ALEC: Which is why I sent an alert out to the other Institutes. Achatius must be captured alive.

ROSE: Achatius, isn't someone who will lower his gaurds down so easily. But there is something that can help.

HAYLEY: The sword.

THEO: He was looking for the sword when he was in Paris.

ROSE: The Morning Star. If we can find it first, maybe we can track down Achatius.

SIMON: Another magic sword?

JONATHAN: It is some sort of family heirloom.

ISABELLE: I'll reach out to all the weapons masters to get intel.

MAGNUS: I'll draw all the ley line junctions in the city. If Achatius moved the apartment, we'll find him.

ALEC: All right, let's get to work.

[Everyone spreads out. Jonathan, Rose, Theo and Jace stay behind.]

THEO: You okay?

ROSE: I can feel it under my skin, Theo. It's like it's inside me.

JACE: May I see it?

ROSE: [showing it] Yeah. [Jace gets a look on his face]

CAROLINE: That look shows you know that sign.

JACE: I saw it.

JONATHAN: What is it?

JACE: I think I've seen it before.

[THE INSTITUTE]

[Magnus is doing some work on a computer. He's typing in something and pressing enter a couple of times continuously.]

ISABELLE: You know that's not gonna make it any better, right?

MAGNUS: I don't know how you work with these machines all day. I could use some magic and a drink right now.

[Izzy waits a moment before she asks for help.]

ISABELLE: Magnus, I was wondering if you could help me. I'm looking for a root that's native to L'Isle-Adam.

MAGNUS: [turns to Izzy] Are you still having cravings?

ISABELLE: We found a way to remove the Mark of Cain from Simon, but the process nearly killed him. So I made him feed on me.

MAGNUS: Isabelle... That's really brave of you.

SIMON: That was.

ISABELLE: Would you happen to have any of that root?

MAGNUS: I don't. Without my magic, I can't Portal to France and dig some up for you. Perhaps I can ask another warlock to-

ISABELLE: No, it's okay. You know, I'm actually feeling a lot better now.

MAGNUS: I should go find some traditional pen and paper to work with.

[Magnus leaves. Izzy looks at her wrist. It's shaking. She focuses and holds it still. Then a fire message flies into her hand. She reads it.]

ELIJAH: Your wrist was shacking.

[HOTEL DUMORT]

[Griffin is playing the piano. Heidi enters with vampires by her side, and Griffin plays his last notes.]

GRIFFIN: The prodigal crazy returns.

HEIDI: Where's Raphael?

GRIFFIN: Not here. His Shadowhunter girlfriend chased him out of town when she found out about you. But Detroit's only 600 miles away. Take a jog.

HEIDI: They'll catch up to me, Griffin.

GRIFFIN: Who?

HEIDI: Wolves. They've been hunting me for days, more and more of them.

[Griffin rises from the piano, approaches Heidi.]

GRIFFIN: Uh-huh. Why are they after you?

HEIDI: Because I'm a vampire. Griffin, they hate us. They always have. It's in their blood. Werewolves think that we smell like walking corpses. They'll find any excuse they can to tear us apart like the feral dogs they are.

BONNIE: She was upto something.

GRIFFIN: Wolves don't just attack without cause. Not in New York. What did you do to them?

HEIDI: Nothing, I swear. Please. I just need a place to lay low for a while.

GRIFFIN: Sounds like your problem, not ours. Get her out of here.

VAMPIRE: Yes, Sir.

[The vampires grab Heidi's arms but she pulls herself loose.]

HEIDI: Look, you can't deny me help. Camille sired Simon and Simon sired me, so this is my clan now. This is my family. [Griffin turns away from her; the vampires capture Heidi and drag her out of the room] You mark my words. They'll come after you next. You'll see.

[JADE WOLF]

[Russell has gathered the pack to give them a heads up. Maia and Bat are sitting in a booth.]

RUSSELL: Listen up. A vampire killed a wolf last night, a Praetor.

MAIA: Which Praetor?

ELENA: She was worried about her ex.

RUSSELL: Word on the street, his name was Nick. The Praetors are saying this vampire is a serious threat to all wolves. So, sharpen your stakes. Stock up on holy water. Also, I'm instituting a curfew. Effective immediately. No one goes out after dark.

MAIA: Curfew? Don't you think that's a little extreme?

BAT: I have a job at night. I can't just bail.

RUSSELL: This isn't a can or can't issue, son. You just will.

[Maia rises and approaches Russell.]

MAIA: I can go with him, make sure that he's safe.

RUSSELL: I said no. I'm the alpha of this pack now. I make the rules. And anyone who can't or won't abide by those rules can get the hell out.

LOUIS: He was disrespecting his alpha status.

[Bat gets up from his seat.]

BAT: I can't lose my job.

MAIA: No, it's fine. Go. [Bat walks past Russell and leaves.] [to Russell] You Turned him. You can't just kick him out.

RUSSELL: Watch me.

MAIA: This isn't about protecting people. It's about having them kneel at your feet.

RUSSELL: Outside, now. [Maia doesn't respond, she looks down for a moment.] That's what I thought.

[Maia walks back to her booth.]

[OUROBOROS]

[Maryse knocks on the door of the shop. She enters and meets Luke there.]

LUKE: Hey. Thanks for showing up on such short notice.

MARYSE: Of course.

LUKE: Look, Maryse, I need your help.

MARYSE: With what, exactly? You aren't thinking about buying this place, are you?

LUKE: Oh, no, not in this lifetime. But don't tell the realtor that. He lent me the keys for the afternoon.

[Maryse picks up a metal instrument and points it at a safe in the wall.]

MARYSE: So you could break into that warlock safe?

LUKE: It might help us track down Achatius. Um, Jocelyn's late friend Elliot, he used to own this place and he left instructions with Jocelyn on how to open the safe in case of emergency. [picking up a piece of paper] Unfortunately, they're in code.

STEFAN: You wanted her to de code it.

MARYSE: Ah. So you called in the closest Circle code-weaver you could find.

LUKE: I called in a friend who I trust. Who just so happens to be the closest Circle code-weaver that I could find. This is what he gave Jocelyn. [hands Maryse the paper] Supposedly, this has the keys to opening that thing.

[Luke reads the words in Latin out loud.]

MARYSE: "Force without wisdom collapses from its own weight." Hmm. Maybe it's a warning that the safe can't be opened by brute force. What exactly do we hope is inside?

LUKE: Elliot kept detailed records of every arcane item in the Shadow World. Hopefully, the sword that Achatius looking for is listed somewhere inside. We find the sword, we can use it as bait.

MARYSE: What are we standing around for? Let's get to work.

[Maryse puts the paper down and examines the safe closely.]

[SIMON'S APARTMENT]

[Jordan is sitting at the table, Nick's necklace with blood stains in his hand. Simon enters with his vamp speed.]

SIMON: So, what's the sudden emergency?

JORDAN: The hunt for Heidi's gone horribly wrong. She killed a Praetor. His name was Nick. We came up together, trained together.

[Simon sits down and is quiet for a moment.]

SIMON: Jordan, I'm sorry. Maybe it's time to bring the Shadowhunters in.

JORDAN: No. No, she's the Praetor's jurisdiction.

SIMON: Why did you call me?

JORDAN: She can't hurt you. I was hoping you'd join our team, act as our shield.

JEREMY: He didn't know.

SIMON: But I don't have the Mark of Cain anymore.

JORDAN: Wait, what?

SIMON: It's a long, complicated story. I met Cain. Strange dude, not very approachable, but he helped me get rid of the mark, so now I'm good.

JORDAN: You know what that means?

SIMON: Yeah. Back to being normal, for a vampire.

JORDAN: No, you don't need a Praetor. Not that I've been much help. [rising] The apartment's yours. Rent's been paid till the end of the year. I will come and grab my stuff once we capture Heidi, okay?

[Jordan has taken his coat, pats Simon on the shoulder and is about to leave.]

SIMON: Wait. [rises] Heidi's my responsibility. Invincible or not, I'm helping you bring her down.

REBEKAH: That's why I like you.

[THE INSTITUTE, LIBRARY]

[Jace, Rose, Theo and Jonathan are looking for the rune that Lilith carved in Rose and Achatius in the library books.]

THEO: There has to be a match.

JACE: Listen, this could take a while.

JONATHAN: Why don't you get something to eat?

THEO: No, I'm fine. I'd rather wait.

ROSE: Theo, you've been going nonstop since we came back. You need to take a minute.

ENZO: She was right, you needed rest.

THEO: You do understand the situation, Rose, we don't have a minute. I am gonna look at other section.

[Theo leaves and Jonathan follows him. He steps closer to Theo and he turns to face him.]

JONATHAN: Hey. Listen, I thought I'd lost you... forever. And now that I have you back, all I want is to stop, just for a minute. And no Achatius, no Lilith. Just you and me.

THEO: I know, I just... This time I don't want situation to become as it was twenty years ago.

CAROLINE: You were afraid.

THEO: I was.

JONATHAN: I know this must be so difficult for you seeing your best friend slash brother after so many years.

THEO: It is so much worse for Rose. I want this mark gone because I know very well what it means. And if it stays longer what could happen. I was able to defeat Achatius because Rose was with me but if Achatius and Rose stand together, then, they would be unstoppable.

They were shocked.

HOPE: That's why you wanted the mark gone.

[Cut to Rose and Jace.]

ROSE: Jace, you have to remember, please.

JACE: I'm trying. I was young. I was a kid.

ROSE: Well, if it's something you learned at the Institute, it would be here.

JACE: [realizing something] But I didn't just study at the Institute.

HOPE: Valentine's cabin.

ROSE: We've been looking in the wrong place.

[THE INSTITUTE, WEAPONRY]

[Izzy is pacing. Her breath is shaky. She goes to the computer keyboard as Alec and Clary enter.]

ALEC: Dead end on the Morning Star case?

ISABELLE: I'm still waiting to hear back from other weapons masters.

[Alec and Clary look at the profile of the man on the screen.]

CLARY: How is Sentry Greenlaw helping?

ISABELLE: There is something I need to tell you.

[Izzy sits down at the desk, Alec and Clary sit down across from her.]

ALEC: You can tell us anything.

ISABELLE: Remember those rumors about the Downworld prisoners that were being tortured?

ALEC: Yeah, the ones Consul Penhallow categorically denied.

CLARY: What about those?

ISABELLE: Well, I contacted the guards that escorted the Seelie knight back to Idris, and one of them replied.

ALEC: Thomas Greenlaw?

ISABELLE: He says he can tell me what's really going on at the Gard. And he wants to meet.

DAMON: Something's really cooking up.

CLARY: When?

ISABELLE: Tonight. [rising] I'm leaving now.

ALEC: I'm coming with you.

CLARY: Me too.

[STREETS]

[Night time. Alec, Clary and Izzy strolling on the sidewalk. Alec takes a candy bar out of his pocket.]

ALEC: Want some?

ISABELLE: Since when do you eat candy?

ALEC: I like to snack.

ISABELLE: What's in it?

ALEC: It's candy.

CLARY: It's in the name: candy bar.

ISABELLE: Magnus told you, didn't he? You know, next time you try and help me with venom cravings, no coconut.

ALEC: I was worried about you.

ALEC: Look, why didn't you tell me?

CLARY: Izzy, I am your best friend, we promised on no secrets.

ISABELLE: Because... I didn't want you two to look at me the way you're looking at me now.

ALEC: Like what?

[Izzy stops walking and turns to Alec and Clary.]

ISABELLE: Like I'm weak.

ALEC: I wish I was half as strong as you on your weakest day. [Izzy stomps him lightly on the chest; Clary scoffs]

CLARY: What? You can beat anyone or anything.

ISABELLE: Except for this. It's always gonna be there, like a shadow, just waiting for me to let my guard down.

ALEC: Okay, look. I did some reading about those mundane groups you go to. This isn't your fight, it's ours. No one does this alone.

ROSE: Alec was right.

CLARY: Izzy, look, I know you've heard all that before. Just... Please be honest with the people who care about you.

ALEC: Whether it's vampire venom or uncovering Clave conspiracies... I'm here with you, every step of the way.

CLARY: Me also.

They smiled at this moment.

[Izzy smiles in relief.]

ISABELLE: Come on.

[They continue walking.]

[BUILDING, OUTSIDE]

[A woman, Nora, exits a building while on her phone. She looks up when she hears a voice.]

HEIDI: Hey, Nora.

NORA: Heidi McKenzie? From high school? You always were a creeper.

HAYLEY: Now, she is a literal creep.

[Nora continues walking, but within a second with her vamp speed, Heidi is in front of Nora again. Heidi hisses angrily. She pulls and then pushes Nora against a tall fence and bites her in the neck. Nora screams. Heidi drinks some, then pulls back.]

HEIDI: Nora Kendall, you are going to do exactly as I say.

DAMON: She was planning something big.

[OUROBOROS]

[Luke enters with coffee. Maryse is sitting at a desk.]

LUKE: Here you go. Keep your strength up.

MARYSE: [taking a coffee] Strength won't unlock this, remember? Warlock safe codes are unusually complex. This one's no different.

LUKE: I never met a warlock who didn't think they were the smartest person in the room. Maybe Elliot lived up to the hype.

MARYSE: This may actually take a while. If you need to get back to your real job, I'm more than happy to keep taking a crack at the cracking.

[Luke sits down next to Maryse and sighs.]

LUKE: I got suspended for refusing to cooperate when Ollie disappeared. And that's just for starters. Apparently they've got a whole file on me dating back to the demonic murders.

MARYSE: I can't imagine your pack's too happy about that.

LUKE: Actually, I left the pack.

MARYSE: Luke, I had no idea. I'm sorry.

LUKE: You know, getting Rose back really put things into perspective. No matter how much I lost, I still have her. She's family. And at the end of the day, maybe that's enough.

MARYSE: You know I never got the chance to thank you for saving my son. If you hadn't been there, I don't know what would have happened. From one exile to another... [raising her coffee; Luke takes his and raises it to hers] it just might be.

[They cheers and take a sip. Then Maia enters. She looks surprised and confused with what she's walked into.]

KOL: She was confused.

MAIA: Sorry to interrupt. I need to speak to Luke.

[Luke puts his coffee on the desk and follows Maia outside.]

MAIA: The Institute told me you might be here.

LUKE: What's up?

MAIA: The pack is falling apart, and, apparently, you're on a date.

LUKE: Okay, it's not a date. We're working.

MAIA: On what?

LUKE: Shadowhunter stuff. Now, what's going on with the pack?

MAIA: It's Russell. We need you to come home.

LUKE: Maia, Russell was right about me. I couldn't be in charge anymore. When you're alpha, you need to make the pack your first priority. Your personal life takes a back seat. And mine never did.

MAIA: The pack needs you to lead it.

LUKE: No. I'm looking at all the leader the pack needs, right here in front of me.

TYLER: He was talking about her.

MAIA: You want me to challenge Russell for alpha? He would rather die than tap out again, and that's if he doesn't rip my throat out first.

LUKE: You don't have to fight him. You just need to get everyone to back you. He'll have no choice but to stand down. Maia, you're alpha material. You're willing to put the pack before everything else.

MAIA: How do I tell people what to do when I can't get my own life to make sense?

LUKE: You'll figure that part out.

[Luke goes back inside, leaving Maia to think.]

[STREETS, FENCE CORNER]

[A man, a Praetor, is sitting down with Nora when Jordan and Simon come running up to them.]

PRAETOR: She's been bitten.

JORDAN: When did you find her?

PRAETOR: Just now. We called you immediately.

SIMON: Any sign of Heidi?

NORA: I know where she went. I overheard her on her cell. She went to some hotel.

SIMON: The DuMort?

The people were now, able to connect the dots.

NORA: Yeah, DuMort. Someone was gonna let her hide there.

SIMON: Okay.

[Simon is ready to go, but Jordan pulls Simon back.]

JORDAN: No, no, no, no. The Praetor will take it from here, okay?

SIMON: No, but I can help you guys...

JORDAN: Yes, you can, by taking this girl to the hospital, okay?

SIMON: Okay.

JORDAN: Come on.

[They all spread out to the hospital and to the DuMort.]

[THE INSTITUTE, LIBRARY]

[Jonathan, Theo, Rose and Jace are standing over a book called Paradise Lost by John Milton.]

JONATHAN: Paradise Lost.

JACE: [flipping through the pages] This edition was illustrated by a special sect of the Silent Brothers. Seers. Valentine made me memorize it. He was obsessed with Lucifer's war on Heaven, and his clash with his brother, the Archangel Michael.

THEO: [pointing at the image on the page] Jace, Michael and Lucifer weren't just siblings.

KLAUS: They had the rune.

ROSE: They were connected...just like me and Achatius. [zoom in on the rune in the image] Look, in this one. The rune is gone.

JACE: Michael vanquished Lucifer. He must have found some way to separate himself.

KLAUS: There was a way.

JONATHAN: That means there is a way.

ROSE: We just have to find it.

[Suddenly, the palm of Rose's left hand starts burning. The flesh sears.]

KEELIN: What was happening?

ACHATIUS: Me.

JACE: Rose, what's going on?

JONATHAN: What's wrong?

ROSE: [shaking] Oh, my God.

[Theo holds Rose's wrist and they look at the redness on Rose's palm. Her hands start burning and in a little time it was her whole body. She was screaming in pain.]

JACE: What's happening?

ROSE: It must be Achatius.

[Shot of electricity.]

JACE: Is he burning himself?

THEO: No. Achatius is replenishing his powers. It's literally, electricity running inside his veins. Here. [Theo activates Rose's iratze on her neck; the burning stops]

JONATHAN: It's stopped.

ROSE: Yeah, for now. He is going to repeat this bloody thing at least twice a day.

THEO: We have to get this thing out of you as soon as possible or it will start damaging her body from inside.

JACE: It's too dangerous. We still don't know what-

ROSE: I don't care. I will carve it out myself if I have to. I am getting this thing off of me. Now.

HAYLEY: It won't be so easy to get that thing off.

[HOTEL DUMORT]

[Jordan and the Praetors enter the hotel. A vampire that gets in their way gets an electric shock to the throat. The vampires don't know what's happening.]

JORDAN: Check the back.

GRIFFIN: What's the meaning of this?

JORDAN: [approaching Griffin] You are harboring a fugitive. Heidi McKenzie.

GRIFFIN: She's not here. She's not a part of this clan.

JORDAN: You're lying.

GRIFFIN: How dare you barge into my home and call me a liar.

JORDAN: This vampire has killed a Praetor. She's killed mundanes. And now we have it on good authority that she's here.

GRIFFIN: Hmm. Well, your good authority is mistaken, so I suggest you leave before things get ugly.

VAMPIRE: [to Jordan] Move.

[Jordan pushes the vampire away. He also pushes Griffin away and the vampires are about to attack. Jordan's eyes light up; then Griffin difuses the situation.]

GRIFFIN: Wait!

JORDAN: You're obstructing Praetor Lupus business.

GRIFFIN: I don't give a damn what you call yourselves, but you just assaulted the head of this clan.

[The Praetor comes back from the basement.]

PRAETOR: Basement's clear. Heidi isn't here.

GRIFFIN: Is that not what I just said?

JORDAN: No, no. No, she's here. She has to be. You're hiding her.

GRIFFIN: Enough. Show these mongrels to the door. It appears they haven't been housebroken.

[Griffin pushes Jordan away, and Jordan and the Praetors are forced to leave.]

[THE INSTITUTE, INFIRMARY]

[Rose is sitting in a medical chair. Theo, Jace and Jonathan are standing next to her.]

ROSE: Let's get this over with.

JACE: It's gonna be painful.

JONATHAN: Are you sure you're ready for that?

ROSE: It can't be more painful than the thing that just happened to me. [sighs] Bring it.

[Jace activates the machine, it starts whirring. Jace starts lasering Lilith's rune, Rose groans, her skin around becomes more red. Rose can't take anymore, she sits up further and Jace pulls back with the laser.]

ROSE: Oh, that was painful.

THEO: Hey, Rose.

ROSE: It's okay. I'm okay. Is it gone? Is it gone? [they check her chest: the rune is still there. Jace throws the laser on the floor and Rose falls back into the seat.] No. I knew it. Getting rid of it won't be easy.

KOL: And, it went in vain.

[HUNTER'S MOON]

[Maia is waiting tables. She's going back to the bar when Simon enters. They lock eyes.]

SIMON: There you are. You weren't picking up your phone.

MAIA: Sorry, I've just been, you know, distracted, but what's up?

[Maia goes behind the bar to put the tray down and then approaches Simon.]

SIMON: Heidi's back. Last time, she attacked Isabelle, thinking she was my girlfriend, and I don't want her to attack my actual girlfriend.

MAIA: I appreciate that, but I don't need a bodyguard.

SIMON: I know.

MAIA: I'm glad you're here, though, so we can, you know, talk.

[Maia gestures to a table. She goes to sit down, Simon does so too.]

SIMON: Yeah, would love to. I love to talk, as you know. But it's been... So much has happened since we last talked.

MAIA: Simon, I am so glad you are back to your old self again.

SIMON: Yeah, me, too. Is that what you wanted to talk about?

MAIA: Actually, it's about the pack. Without Luke, it's a mess. So, I think I gotta step it up. Take on a bigger role.

SIMON: Yeah.

MAIA: But in order to do that... I... I have to put the pack first. So everything outside of that, like a relationship, has to come second. And, Simon, you don't deserve to come second. You deserve someone who will love you, heart and soul.

BONNIE: She was breaking up with you.

SIMON: Maia, it's okay. I understand.

MAIA: You do?

SIMON: Yeah. Yeah. What we had was amazing, right? With the whole Shadow World against us, we proved to them that a wolf and vampire can be together, and be happy. It's pretty cool. But what we had... It's changed. We both feel it. And it has nothing to do with the Shadow World, it's just... I don't know. It's just human.

[Maia pauses and smiles before she responds.]

MAIA: You're an amazing guy. Do you know that?

SIMON: Do amazing guys get the family-and-friends discount on O-negative as well?

They chuckled at this.

MAIA: Mmm... Always.

SIMON: I really hope they know what they're getting. The wolves. They'd better not take you for granted.

[Simon rises and leaves the bar. Maia's breath shakes, she's close to tears.]

DAVINA: It was hard for her.

[HOTEL DUMORT]

[Heidi enters the lounge. Griffin is leaning on the edge of the couch. Heidi sits next to him.]

GRIFFIN: Those wolves came looking for you. They just assumed you were here, as if all vampires are in collusion with one another. They crossed the line. They disrespected us.

HEIDI: I tried to warn you. It'll only get worse. Unless we do something about it. Unless we fight back.

[Griffin nods and lets Heidi alone. She smiles cunningly.]

DAMON: She wanted a war.

[STREETS]

[Izzy is pacing while looking on her phone. Alec and Clary are calmer.]

ALEC: How you feeling?

CLARY: Are you okay?

ISABELLE: As okay as I was five minutes ago. Greenlaw should have been here by now.

[They hear the sounds of swords clashing in the distance. They see the shadows of men fighting in the alley and quickly run towards the sounds. They find Greenlaw on the ground, bleeding out. They kneel down by him.]

ALEC: Who did this to you?

GREENLAW: Caelestis Ignis.

MATT: What?

ROSE: Heavenly fire.

CLARY: What?

GREENLAW: Inside.

[Izzy tries to activate Greenlaw's iratze on his arm. It is of no use.]

ISABELLE: Why isn't it working?

KLAUS: He is dead.

ALEC: 'Cause he's already dead.

[Alec puts his hand on Izzy's shoulder.]

[OUROBOROS]

[Maryse twists one of the knobs on the safe. Three runes on the safe light up and then go out. Maryse looks at Luke before she twists three other knobs. Then all runes light up, and Maryse is able to turn the handle on the safe. Luke stands up from his chair as Maryse opens the safe.]

LOUIS: You did it.

LUKE: You are good.

MARYSE: Little rusty. [Luke picks up a book from the safe] Is that what you're looking for?

LUKE: Yep. Now I just have to comb through them all.

MARYSE: I'm just glad I could help.

[Luke turns to Maryse, their faces are suddenly very close.]

Caroline was keeping her fingers crossed.

LUKE: I couldn't have done it without you.

MARYSE: You don't give yourself enough credit.

[They kiss. Then another time more intensely. Both are a bit taken aback by the situation.]

CAROLINE: Yes, finally. 

Maryse blushed. 

MARYSE: You should probably get started with those books.

LUKE: Yeah, um...

MARYSE: I should go. Alec and Izzy wanna see me.

They laughed at the way they reacted.

[Maryse gives Luke one more look before she exits the shop.]

[THE INSTITUTE, THEO'S BEDROOM]

[Theo is lighting candles with his magic. Jonathan enters, Theo turns to face him.]

JONATHAN: We're gonna fight together. You don't have to go through this alone. I promise.

THEO: When I saw Achatius alive, it was like reliving those memories again. Even the bond I have with Alec can't compete with what we had. It was like the guilt was eating me up again. The worst part of it, that ray of hope which I had was destroyed by Lilith, and the fear of loosing my brother forever, it's just increasing. I don't wanna loose him.

They were feeling sad for him.

JONATHAN: [approaching Theo] And you won't, okay. We will get him back, for you, for Rose.

THEO: You know the biggest lesson that life has ever taught me is that time is the important thing. You can't control it, like sand it just slips away from your hand, until you realize, there is nothing left. I want to make most of it. And right now... I want you. [stroking Jonathan's cheek] I love you.

[Jonathan holds Theo's hand.]

JONATHAN: I love you, Theo. And I'll love you until I die. And if there's a life after this, I'll love you then, too.

CAROLINE: That's the sweetest thing I heard.

[They kiss. Next shot is them in bed, making out, Jonathan is on top. Jonathan kisses Theo's neck. Shot of Theo on top. They make out passionately.]

[THE INSTITUTE, ROSE'S BEDROOM]

[Rose was staring at the window and silently crying. She hears a knock at the door and wipes her tears. She goes to open the door and sees Clary behind it.]

ROSE: Clary. Come in.

[Clary steps inside and Rose closes the door behind.]

ROSE: Did you need anything?

CLARY: I wanted to talk to you.

ROSE: Sure, what do you wanna talk about?

CLARY: About you and Achatius. [Rose stares at her in shock.] I clearly heard what Valentine said when we were in Idris. I was there remember? Look, I know you are just masking your feelings with an evergreen smile on your face but I clearly see the pain behind those eyes. You are my sister and you were there with me at my worst, let me be there for you.

Rose smiled at this.

ROSE: What do you wanna know, Clary?

CLARY: You both loved each other, then, why is he fighting against you? You two should be together.

ACHATIUS: It was complicated.

ROSE: It's complicated. Achatius isn't a full demon, he is a hybrid, part demon, part nephilim. Thus, giving him two sides, the one which is full of light and the other one which just has darkness. He wasn't always like this. But now he is complete different person from the person I loved.

CLARY: But what made him change?

ROSE: I and Theo.

FINN: What?

CLARY: What? I don't understand?

ROSE: Twenty years ago, Lilith had me and Theo as hostage. She had sword holding on our neck. And gave Achatius, two choices, either watch the love of his life and his brother die, or, give in the darkness. He wasn't going to let us die. So, he choose to become what he was afraid of.

FINN: You became this to save them.

Achatius nodded.

CAROLINE: I am not gonna leave, Lilith.

ROSE: Don't worry, Care, she is dead.

CLARY: The darkness. [Rose nodded.] But can't you just bring him back?

ROSE: If it was easy, I would have done it twenty years ago. The sooner you slip in this darkness, the more difficult is to snap out of it. And trust me no body knows it better than me.

CLARY: I can't even imagine what you are going through. And as you speak of Achatius it is like you loved him very much.

ROSE: I did. We Morgensterns have our light to guide through the darkest face. Yours is Jace, Jonathan's is Theo and mine was Achatius. When I saw him, it was like he died in my arms yesterday. The happiness I felt when I realized he is alive was something I never experienced in my life. And now, it's like loosing him all over again.

The girls had tears in their eyes.

[Clary hugged Rose and she silently sobbed in her chest. Clary hugged her even more tighter.]

CLARY: I love this moment.

ROSE: Me too.

[THE INSTITUTE, ALEC'S OFFICE]

[Maryse is meeting with Izzy and Alec. They're sitting on the chair and couch by the fire.]

MARYSE: Who else knows about this?

ISABELLE: Only you and Clary.

ALEC: The wound was caused by a seraph blade, but all our people were accounted for at the time of the murder.

ISABELLE: We think it was a Clave hit.

MARYSE: By the Angel.

[Izzy and Alec look at each other. Alec nods to Izzy.]

ISABELLE: He said something before he died. We thought you could recognize it. Caelestis Ignis. Latin for "Heavenly Fire."

ALEC: Does that ring any bells?

MARYSE: It's the name of an off-the-books Clave program. I heard whispers, but no details. It was above my clearance level. [Alec gets a look on his face] Oh, no. One man already died so Heavenly Fire could stay hidden.

BONNIE: They killed one of their own.

ISABELLE: They killed one of their own. They've tortured Downworlders because of this, and you wanna turn a blind eye?

ALEC: You didn't raise us like that.

MARYSE: I raised you to survive. Promise me you'll stay away from this.

DAMON: You were not going to stay away from this.

[THE INSTITUTE, ROSE'S BEDROOM]

[Rose wakes from her peaceful sleep with Clary. Suddenly, she feels a pain on her arm. Sharp carvings are made into her arm - indirectly by Achatius - to write the words "I miss you". She raises an eye brow in surprise. She stands up from the bed and stares at her arm.]

DAVINA: That's creepy.

ROSE: Talking in my language, now, aren't we?

[She grabbed a knife and found a bottle of a herb. She dipped the knife in that powder and carved a symbol on her other hand. She smirked.]

KOL: I know that look.

[Cut to Achatius, he feels the symbol on his hand and groans, he falls on his knees, clutches his arm and then, screams out of pain. Cut to Rose.]

ROSE: Karma is a bitch , isn't it?

CAROLINE: Now, that was queen moment.

[JADE WOLF]

[Maia enters the restaurant from the kitchen. She sees Russell standing by the booths and is about to confront him, when she hears Jordan's voice in a booth behind her.]

JORDAN: Maia.

MAIA: What are you doing here?

JORDAN: Uh, I came to say goodbye.

MAIA: You caught Heidi.

JORDAN: Uh... I am not sure I'm the right man for the job.

MAIA: What are you talking about?

JORDAN: Heidi encantoed one of her victims. She set me up to go for the New York Clan and I lost control.

MATT: He did loose control.

MAIA: No.

[JADE WOLF, OUTSIDE]

[Heidi and Griffin have assembled a team of vampires to attack the werewolves.]

TYLER: They were going to attack the wolves.

HEIDI: Jade Wolf is right around the corner. Are we ready?

GRIFFIN: I'm not so sure this is a good idea.

HEIDI: They broke into our hotel, assaulted the head of our clan. Those wolves have to pay for what they did.

WOMAN: I'm in.

MAN: She's right, Griff. I'm in, too.

FINN: She manipulated them, well.

GRIFFIN: What about other wolves showing up?

HEIDI: Don't worry about that. I'll stand watch outside. Come on, let's teach them a lesson.

[The vampires move around the corner with their speed, leaving Heidi to stand watch.]

CAROLINE: How cunningly, she made those vampires do her dirty work while she will just stand and watch.

[JADE WOLF]

[Maia is sitting across from Jordan now.]

MAIA: What now? Do you go back to the Praetor?

JORDAN: I'm not worthy of the Praetor, or anyone at this point.

MAIA: So you're just leaving?

JORDAN: There's no reason for me to stay.

[The door opens, it's the vampires.]

GRIFFIN: Hand him over.

RUSSELL: [rising from his booth] You gotta be freaking kidding me. Get him out of here. Now.

[The vamps are everywhere with their speed. They attack. The wolves fight back. Maia slams a vamp's head onto a table. Russell throws a man against the wall. He then intentionally breaks a table to make a stake. A vampire jumps right at him, but Russell stakes him in the heart, the vamp vanishes. Maia realizes to late that Griffin is coming right at her. Jordan jumps in front of her, getting stabbed in his stomach in the process. Griffin pulls the dagger out, smiling. Maia goes for the uppercut, knocking Griffin away. Russell kills another vampire.]

They gasped at this scene.

MAIA: [helping Jordan up] Come on.

[They go to the kitchen for safety.]

RUSSELL: [attacking a vampire] Go to hell.

[Maia watches through the kitchen window as Russell is stabbed in the back by Griffin. Maia cries as she and Russell make eye contact.]

SIMON: Well, the guy was a douche but he didn't deserve to die.

JORDAN: We're never gonna outrun them. Go.

[They go further back in the restaurant. Quickly, they hide in a small storage room.]

MAIA: Come on. In here.

[Maia pulls out a pipe to lock the door with. Griffin is punching the door, but it doesn't give - yet. Maia goes back to Jordan, who's on the floor groaning. Maia grabs a cloth to keep pressure on the wound.]

MAIA: [panicky] It's gonna be okay. It's gonna be okay.

[Maia cries, afraid for their end, as more dents get punched in the door.]

HAYLEY: She is clastrophobic.
