[Jocelyn is laying in a bed, sleeping. A man draws blood from her.] 

BONNIE: It's a flashback. 

LILITH: [voice-over] For thousands of years, I was unable to bear a child, except once, but then Valentine asked for my blood for his unborn son. He sent him to me.

[Shot of a young Jonathan in a ring of fire.]

YOUNG JONATHAN: [screaming] Make it stop!!

[Shot of Jonathan in the form of Sebastian screaming in Valentine's face while clenching a blade.]

SEBASTIAN: You made me this way!

[Cut to young Jonathan in the ring of fire.]

YOUNG JONATHAN: Dad!

[He keeps on screaming and his surroundings change. Suddenly, he's an open landscape. The fire disappears and young Jonathan pants. He looks around and sees smoke and fire in the sky. There are demons flying and a thunder is forming. When he hears a voice he turns around.] 

CAROLINE: This is Edom. 

LILITH: My precious boy.

YOUNG JONATHAN: Stay away from me!

LILITH: It's all right. There's nothing to be afraid of. See? I'm just like you.

YOUNG JONATHAN: Who are you?

LILITH: I am your mother. I'm so happy your father finally sent you to me. 

Jonathan sighed. 

YOUNG JONATHAN: My mother hates me. That's why she left us.

LILITH: That woman who abandoned you, Jocelyn Fairchild, is not your true mother. My blood is what made you so special, so powerful. And your father punished you for it, but I won't. Because I know what a gift you are to this world. I love you more than anything. And I will never let anything bad happen to you. 

JONATHAN: Oh, right, not let any bad thing happen to me. When she was the worst thing happened to me ever. 

[Lilith kneels down by the boy and touches his arms. Her hands light up, they're burning Jonathan. He screams.]

LILITH: Ssh. Mother loves you. 

Jonathan scoffs at this. 

[BRIDGE]

[Rose was hugging Jonathan.]

LILITH: [voice-over] But then, Rosaline snatched him from me, Just like she snatched my precious boy, Achatius.

[LILTH'S ROOM, EDOM]

[Lilith was going in labour pain. She was giving birth to a boy. A demon in human form hands over the child to Lilith. She holds him in her arms.]

LILITH: My sweet boy, I will love you more than anything. And together we will rule over hell and heaven. 

CAROLINE: You were so cute as a baby. 

[OLD CHURCH]

[Lilith is looking at Achatius' body in the open casket.]

LILITH: The heart is on its way, my child. It is finally time.

[INTRO IS SHOWN]

Rosaline opens her eyes and flashes her alpha eyes who had golden hue. She swings her katanas and fearless rune is showed. Theodore's magical bow appears and he stretches its string forming the strength rune. Jonathan is shown showing his demon eyes and his seraph blade appears. He cuts the air and flexibility rune is show. Clary is seen blowing the candles on her birthday cake forming the angelic rune. Jace is seen jumping from a building with eagles surrounding him. He jumps on the ground splashing the water which forms heightened speed rune. Alec is seen a room with healing rune drawn on one of the walls. He aims his arrow. Isabelle is now shown swinging her blade forming the parabatai rune. Simon is seen wiping the blood on his lips in hotel de mort. The whole background turns black and white. Luke is seen with a wall behind him covered with runes and wolves. Magnus is drinking his cocktail. Scene splits and shows Theo and Rose using their magic and flashing their golden red eyes. Then all the runes are shown burning and Rosaline, Theo, Clary, Jace, Jonathan, Alec and Isabelle are shown walking and the title Shadowhunter appears with The Mortal Instruments written below. And the screen turns black.

[TITLE SCREEN]

[STREETS]

[A Portal opens in an alley. Rose steps out. Jace steps out after her.]

JACE: Three second head start and you didn't try to run? [the Portal closes] I'm disappointed.

ROSE: What's the point? You're not gonna stop until you catch me again, right?

JACE: Let's go.

[Jace pushes Rose onto the sidewalk and they start walking, but Rose suddenly stops and turns to Jace.]

ROSE: You are the great Owl, following orders from Lilith, why this body, you could have taken someone else's strong body, not of some nephilim. Huh? Why are you doing this?

JACE: I don't take orders from you.

ROSE: But you do from Lilith?

JACE: She is my Queen. Keep moving.

[They walk a few steps.]

ROSE: You want to be a good loyal servant, like a dog. Will your queen reward you with a bone or a muzzle made to keep your loyal ass in line? 

KOL: Oh, this was damn good. 

LOUIS: That insult. Oh, poor owl. 

JACE: Stop talking.

ROSE: Touche. Did I hurt your feelings? Now, what can I say truth is bitter. You see it's a matter of time, my friends no about my whereabouts.

JACE: That's why I activated your Anti-Tracking rune.

[Rose stops walking and laughs and turns back to Jace.]

ROSE: Oh, you fool, you think activating my anti tracking rune will stop my friends from finding about my whereabouts, sorry to burst your bubble but you are wrong.

JACE: My work is to deliver you to my master. And once, you reach there even your friends can't save you.

ROSE: The big question is, who will save your queen from me? She is inviting a predator in her home, who knows how to tear her apart, limb from limb. And you will watch. Then, I am going to bring my brother back. 

CAROLINE: You know how to threaten someone. 

JACE: You are just thinking delusional. And you will never get your precious brother back. You belong to Lilith and no one can escape from her clutches.

ROSE: I did it once, I can do it all over again.

[THEO'S ROOM, INSTITUTE]

[Jonathan was there pacing in the room.]

JONATHAN: You are telling me that Rose went to Idris to save Clary. You should have told me before.

THEO: I know, I should have. But now's not the time. Something is going on I can tell it's wrong. 

ROSE: You were feeling my weird, confused and overwhelmed expressions. 

[Jonathan is about to say something but out of nowhere a portal opens. Clary comes out of it. She was about to fall but Jonathan holds her. The portal closes.] 

HAYLEY: You reached the Institute. 

JONATHAN: Clary.

THEO: Are you okay?

CLARY: I am. But Rose is not. Jace took her. I don't know whoever this Achatius is but Lilith is planning on resurrecting him.

[Theo and Jonathan were in shock.]

JONATHAN: What?

[HOSPITAL]

[Elaine is in the hospital with Rebecca. While she rests, Elaine speaks with a police officer.]

OFFICER: Forgive me, ma'am, if I misheard you, but did you say that your daughter was attacked by a vampire?

ELAINE: Yes! I did, and I know how that sounds. But it's the truth. And then these friends of his showed up and helped him escape, and he... 

ELENA: They were thinking she is mad. 

OFFICER: Let's go find a coffee.

ELAINE: No, no! I need to stay here - with my daughter.

OFFICER: Ms. Lewis, she's in good hands, and fresh air will do you some good.

[The officer leads Elaine away. From another door Simon and Izzy enter the hospital.]

SIMON: People are gonna think she's insane. 

REBEKAH: Of course they will. 

ISABELLE: This isn't your fault.

SIMON: How is any of this not my fault? I've ruined her life. [in a more quiet voice] I'm sorry. Can you ask your doctor boyfriend to check in on Becky?

ISABELLE: He never quite made it to "boyfriend".

SIMON: Oh.

ISABELLE: I got tired of lying. Mundanes and the Shadow World don't mix. 

THEO: It's the truth. 

SIMON: You're preaching to the choir. [goes to the reception desk] Excuse me, miss. Paramedics came in with Rebecca Lewis. Where is she?

NURSE: Are you family?

SIMON: Yeah, she's my sister. [the nurse gives him a visitor's pass and points to a room] Thank you.

[Simon turns to Izzy for a moment, then he nods and goes to the room.]

[HOSPITAL, REBECCA'S ROOM]

[Simon opens the curtain and sees his sister hooked up to a machine. Her neck is bandaged up. Simon looks guilty.] 

CAROLINE: This is sad. 

[NYPD]

[Luke is entering the police station with Lt. Dwyer.]

DWYER: Give me something Anything that makes sense of why you were found on the street with a crossbow and rappelling gear.

LUKE: Look, last time I checked, having a hobby wasn't a crime.

DWYER: No, but obstruction of justice is.

LUKE: Obstruction? How?

[Luke sits down at his desk.]

DWYER: You know, hopefully you're just covering for your partner who may or may not have skipped town after murdering her own mother.

LUKE: Ollie is innocent.

DWYER: If she's so innocent, why were her prints found on the murder weapon?

LUKE: Maybe you should be asking yourself why somebody would want to frame her instead. 

MATT: You were the main suspect in this case. 

DWYER: According to Internal Affairs, that answer's staring me in the face right now. They're looking at you for what happened to Wilson's mom and a few other deaths too.

LUKE: Based on what evidence?

DWYER: Other than what we just went over? How about the disappearance of your last partner? Huh? Or my predecessor who died on the job while you were investigating the Demonic Murders.

LUKE: I put that suspect in the morgue.

DWYER: Then where's the body? Or did your perp just get up and walk away? 

LUKE: You're gonna have to take that up with the coroner. Lieutenant, I'm sorry but my daughter needs me. I gotta go.

DWYER: Oh, your daughter? You mean the one that vanished from existence?

[Luke sighs and looks at his desk.]

[Magnus is making a pentagram on the floor with ashes.]

ALEC: It's been hundreds of years since you banished your father. What makes you think he'll even listen to your request?

MAGNUS: Let's just say he owes me one. 

ELIJAH: For what happened to your mother. 

MAGNUS: And many things. 

ALEC: For what happened with your mother?

MAGNUS: That and for everything in the years that followed. I was living on the streets. I didn't know who or what I was. Asmodeus took me in. Nurtured my darker impulses. And taught me the "proper" way to be a warlock.

ALEC: And why'd you listen to him? 

HAYLEY: He was his father. 

MAGNUS: Because he was the only one in the world with eyes like me. He was my father.

ALEC: Look, at least give me the time to call in back-up from the Institute. We don't even have Lilith under control. Another Greater Demon gets loose, it could put the whole city at risk.

MAGNUS: Fortunately for the good people of New York, my father won't be traveling top-side.

[Magnus gets up. The pentagram is finished.]

ALEC: What aren't you telling me? 

FREYA: You weren't going to summon him, you were going there. 

MAGNUS: This pentagram isn't for summoning Asmodeus to Earth. It's for sending someone to Edom. In this case, me.

ALEC: Absolutely not.

MAGNUS: We need my father's help. And the cell service down there is terrible. 

KOL: Well, you know how to joke even in serious times. 

ALEC: This isn't funny!

MAGNUS: Would you prefer I act as terrified as I feel right now?

ALEC: This is insane. 

LOUIS: It is. 

MAGNUS: [approaching Alec] Tell me Jace isn't worth it. [Alec is silent.] Let's get this over with.

[Magnus snaps his fingers and uses his magic to activate the pentagram. A circle of fire appears. Magnus is about to step into the pentagram when Alec grabs his arm and turns Magnus to him.]

ALEC: You're gonna make it back. You hear me?

MAGNUS: Why wouldn't I? Look what I have waiting for me. [They kiss. Magnus steps into the flames.] I love you, Alexander.

ALEC: I love you too. 

CAROLINE: You both are my favourite ship. 

[Magnus grunts and screams as the fire eats him. Then he disappears into the flames.]

[EDOM]

[Magnus sees the demons flying in the sky, he hears the thunder. Then he notices a house and starts walking towards it.] 

JONATHAN: You reached there. 

[STREETS]

JACE: Come on. It's not much farther now.

ROSE: That's what you said 10 blocks ago.

[Rose notices a broken glass bottle on the ground. On purpose, she bumps into some boxes and trips.]

JACE: Get up.

[Rose puts a glass shard into her sleeve.]

ROSE: Do I look like a vampire to you, who can cover this distance in just a blink of eye. Just give me a minute. I haven't stopped moving since Valentine's interrogation.

[Jace pulls Rose up.]

JACE: Stop moving. You're gonna need your stamina. [Jace activates a rune on Rose's arm.] Let's go.

[Rose clenches her fist with the shard in it. Drips of blood make a trail for her friends to follow.] 

KLAUS: You were leaving bread crumbs behind. 

[HOSPITAL, REBECCA'S ROOM]

[Simon is sitting by his sister's bedside. She slowly opens her eyes. Simon immediately gets up.]

SIMON: Becky. Hey, I'm here. You okay?

REBECCA: [weakly] Simon. It's a hell of a hangover. What happened? [sees the tears in Simon's eyes, then carefully feels the wound on her neck] Did you do this to Mom too?

SIMON: No. It didn't come to that. I am so sorry.

REBECCA: I've read enough YA to know what happens. So, how long is it until I turn? 

DAMON: Twilight, really spread false rumours about vampires. 

SIMON: You won't. I promise. You'd have to have died with my blood in your system, then get buried, and then um... feed as soon as you crawled out of your own grave.

REBECCA: Oh, Simon... You went through all of that alone? You died?

SIMON: Medically speaking, yeah. 

KOL: Medically, speaking. 

REBECCA: Well, I guess all of your sketchy behaviour makes more sense now. How did I not know about this sooner?

SIMON: You and Mom both did. I had a vampire friend hypnotize both of you to forget.

REBECCA: Oh. Can you do that too?

SIMON: Yeah. And I, I will totally do that for you too.

REBECCA: No! No. Simon, I wasn't there for you once. And I will never not be there for you again. I'm your big sister, and I'm always gonna love you. Warts, fangs and all. 

CAROLINE: I love her. 

FREYA: She did the right thing. 

SIMON: Oh. Oh.

REBECCA: How did Mom take this?

SIMON: She tried to kill me. And now, she's telling everybody about what I really am.

REBECCA: What do we do about that?

[EDOM, ADMODEUS' LAIR]

[Magnus enters the lair. It's full of candles. Magnus suddenly hears a voice.]

ASMODEUS: Who dares enter the lair of Asmodeus unannounced? [he appears and sees Magnus] Be still, my beating heart. [approaching Magnus with snake eyes] Is that my beautiful boy or do my eyes deceive me? 

MAGNUS: The loving father, I am charmed. 

[Asmodeus gives Magnus a hug.]

MAGNUS: Hello, Father.

ASMODEUS: [circling around Magnus] My son. Magnus Bane. High Warlock of Greenwich here in Edom. 

CAROLINE: You were High Warlock of Brooklyn not Greenwich. 

MAGNUS: Well, he forgot that. 

[Asmodeus stands in front of Magnus.]

MAGNUS: Not that it matters anymore, but I was the High Warlock of Brooklyn, not Greenwich.

ASMODEUS: Well, you'll have to forgive me for being out of touch. It's not like you write. Or call. Or perform the occasional blood sacrifice.

MAGNUS: Well, you'll have to forgive me, considering how we left things.

ASMODEUS: I can only assume that your presence here means you've finally come to your senses.

MAGNUS: About what?

ASMODEUS: Banishing the only person who ever truly cared for you. 

ELIJAH: He thought you came there to apologize. 

MAGNUS: You think I came here to apologize?

ASMODEUS: A demon can hope, can't he? I plucked you from obscurity and poverty, and turned you into the man that you are today.

MAGNUS: I'm the man I am today because I finally saw you for what you really are: a prince of Hell.

ASMODEUS: You didn't seem to mind at the time.

MAGNUS: I didn't know any better! There isn't a single thing from our years together that doesn't make my skin crawl. I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but you'll get no apology from me.

ASMODEUS: Then why have you come here? Why re-open this wound?

MAGNUS: I came here to ask you for your assistance.

ASMODEUS: [yelling, blasting Magnus to the back with his voice] A favor?! After coming into my home and insulting me like this?! What kind of fool do you take me for? 

KOL: You angered him. 

MAGNUS: [approaching Asmodeus] The kind whose love for his chosen son might outweigh his pride.

[NYPD]

[Luke is still sitting at his desk while Dwyer stands next to him. Maryse has entered the police station.]

DWYER:You know, you can stall all you want, Luke, but you're going to have to give a statement sooner or later.

LUKE: Look, Lieutenant, I don't have time for this. If you have evidence, I'm more than happy to call my union rep.

DWYER: Don't do this.

LUKE: Otherwise, I'm out the door.

DWYER: Don't push me.

[Luke sees Maryse by the glass door.]

LUKE: I'm sorry, but I gotta go.

DWYER: Then you're suspended pending further investigation.

[Luke puts his gun and badge on the desk and then walks away. He meets Maryse in the hallway.] 

ROSE: Finally. 

MARYSE: I've been calling you for an hour. What was that all about?

LUKE: A problem for another day. What's up?

MARYSE: Lilith just used Jace to break Rose out of the Gard. Turns out Rose was there the whole time. Clary escaped from there and is in the Institute.

LUKE: What? Why did they took Rose?

MARYSE: Remember that image Simon sent you?

LUKE: The ritual markings from Lilith's church. What about them?

MARYSE: Whatever the ritual is, Rose's a part of it. 

ROSE: Of course I was part of that ritual. 

LUKE: How?

MARYSE: I don't know. Theo just got a tracking hit on her. It's faint, but she's definitely back in the city.

LUKE: All right. Let's go find her.

[LILITH'S APARTMENT]

[The elevator dings. Jace walks Rose to the dining room. All the disciples are standing around the table. They walk to the back, where Lilith is standing by the window. She turns to Jace and Rose.]

LILITH: The most awaited guest has arrived. [turning to the open casket, looking at Achatius] My son had a taste in women but he definitely chose the wrong one. 

LOUIS: He didn't. 

ROSE: To tell the truth, I just think you don't have the eyes to identify a real gem. 

CLARY: The sarcasm. 

LILITH: Rosaline Morgenstern, always having sarcasm as your defense, don't you?

JACE: [kneeling down, presenting the vial] Sorry for the delay, my Queen. The vial.

[Lilith takes the vial and Jace stands up.]

LILITH: All that matters is we have everything necessary to begin.

[Lilith pours the contain of the vial on the plate and it dissolves into the casket.]

LILITH: My Owl is going to need his energy.

[Lilith kisses Jace.] 

Clary glared at the screen. Jace noticed this. 

JACE: That wasn't me, I will never kiss that Lilith. 

JACE: Thank you, my Queen.

[Rose rolled her eyes at this.]

LILITH: Leave. [Jace does so.] [to Rose] Oh, anger isn't a good look on you. Neither are those clothes. [snaps her fingers and two disciples appear] Get her cleaned up and into a change of clothes for her my son's rebirth. Perhaps something blue. That's what your kind wears when the lost return, isn't it? 

ELENA: She takes interest in Shadowhunter buisenesses also. 

[HOSPITAL, CHAPEL]

[Simon finds his mother in the chapel of the hospital.]

SIMON: Mom.

[Elaine turns around and gasps. She backs into the corner.]

SIMON: No, no, no. It's okay.

ELAINE: Please, don't kill me. I'm all your sister has left. 

SIMON: No, it's okay. It's okay. I know I know how hard it was for you to lose Dad, but but what I'm about to do, it it has to happen. It has to happen for your own good. [Elaine wants to flee] Don't. Don't. Don't panic.

ELAINE: [afraid] Please, don't. 

HOPE: She was so scared. 

SIMON: Sh. Sh. Just relax. Just listen. [echoing] Your son, Simon, he isn't a vampire. That's just how you're dealing with your grief. There was an accident. But your son felt no pain. And in his last moments... In his last moments, he thought about how much he's gonna miss you. And, no matter where he ends up in his next life... He will never stop thinking about you. He will always love you. [kisses Elaine's forehead] Simon Lewis is dead. 

CAROLINE: You made her believe that you were dead. 

A tear escaped from Simon's eye. 

MARYSE: It must have been so hard for you. 

[Simon walks out of the chapel and Elaine starts crying. Izzy sees Simon in the hallway. She hugs him.]

[LILITH'S APARTMENT]

ROSE: Raising Achatius from the dead, thinking that he will return to you? After all you did, do you think he will become mama's boy?

LILITH: He will. 

ACHATIUS: She had her fantasies which were only fantasies. 

ROSE: [laughs] Oh, how delusional you are. Every time it comes to me or you, he always chose me. All the efforts you put was he really worth it?

LILITH: The things we do for our children. Besides, the mundanes killed by my disciples will do far more for this world in death than they'd ever do in life.

ROSE: And yet you need me alive. How ironic is it, after all those planning and plotting to kill me, even though I am defenseless, you can't kill me. So, now, what you are gonna take my heart? 

CAROLINE: She tried to kill you. 

ROSE: Many times, but here I am still alive. 

LILITH: Oh, I'm afraid that's exactly what it's like. But the heart isn't what you think. Achatius needs to share your life force in order to breathe again, so I might hold him once more. Losing Achatius was the most painful moment of my very long life.

ROSE: Seems, like you have a very bad memory. Wasn't it you who was responsible for his death? 

LOUIS: She was responsible for this. 

LILITH: I didn't kill him, you did.

ROSE: You made him everything he was afraid of becoming. And yet, you say he is dead because of me.

LILITH: [sighs] I made him what he was destined to become, a destroyer. It was you who held him to fulfill his destiny. You made him weak. You used him and tried to convert him into an angel which he never was. 

ACHATIUS: I wasn't a born monster but she forced me to become one and you were right, I died because of her. 

ROSE: [screams] I loved him with all my heart. You snatched every single person I loved including Achatius. You wanna know what destroyed him. You! He will rather stay dead than having you in his bloody life. You will never be his mother. You don't deserve to be a mother. 

LOUIS: A mother who kills another mother's son can never be a mother. 

[Lilith was about to slap Rose in the face but Rose holds her hand in mid air. She breaks Lilith's arm. Lilith groans in pain.] 

BONNIE: She deserved that. 

ROSE: You are lucky, I am not killing you right now.

[Lilith uses her magic to fly the fireplace pokes over to Rose. They wrap around her ankles and wrists as handcuffs.]

LILITH: I am his mother, his only family! 

ACHATIUS: She is my nothing. 

[EDOM, ASMODEUS' LAIR]

MAGNUS: Just little demonic power to help free my friend, that's all I'm asking for.

ASMODEUS: Why would I ever give you the means by which Lilith could be banished back here to lord over us all? Edom may not be Marseille, but it's a hell of a lot less miserable with her gone.

MAGNUS: Name your price.

ASMODEUS: There is a time when we all must return to live in the houses of our fathers. Rule beside me. 

STEFAN: You were not gonna agree to this. 

MAGNUS: I never should have come.

ASMODEUS: Say what you will about the time we spent together, but you have to admit, you enjoyed every minute of it.

MAGNUS: I was a child! [pause] Father, I have never once come here to ask you for anything. There must be something else I can give you.

ASMODEUS: Actually, my son, there is. 

FREYA: You gave him something big, didn't you. 

[STREETS]

[Luke and Maryse are investigating the street with flashlights.]

LUKE: Maryse, you deserved to know what was happening with Jace. I'm sorry I didn't tell you.

MARYSE: A problem for another day. You think Rose was actually here?

[Luke shines his light on a drop of blood on the ground.]

LUKE: Yes.

MARYSE: Jace's or Rose's?

[Luke kneels down and dips his finger in the drop. He smells it.]

LUKE: Rose's. It's probably what set off Theo's tracking.

[Maryse shines her light further and notices another spot.]

MARYSE: Look. [they walk over to the next drops] Do you think Jace did this to her?

[Luke sees the broken glass bottle.]

LUKE: Rose might have done this to herself. She's leaving us bread crumbs. 

KEELIN: You figured out. 

[THE INSTITUTE]

[Alec and Theo are on the phone with their mother and Luke who are standing in front of an apartment building. Cut to who's talking.]

ALEC: Lilith's hiding in a mundane building?

MARYSE: Yes. The trail led us here.

LUKE: She's trying to put as many bodies as possible between her and anyone with a mind to stop her. Any word from Magnus?

ALEC: We might be on our own.

MARYSE: I'm sure Magnus is just waiting to make some sort of dramatic entrance. 

BONNIE: I have a feeling you were right about this. 

ALEC: Yeah... Let's hope so. Thanks for the intel.

THEO: Alec will call Izzy. She and Simon will meet him there.

MARYSE: Bring me a blade.

ALEC: Mom, I'm gonna ask you to sit this one out.

MARYSE: Against the Queen of Hell?! You're gonna need all the help you can get. 

HOPE: They were right. 

ALEC: Please, Mom, for me. For Izzy. For Max. Let us do the heavy lifting.

LUKE: [to Maryse] We pull this off, Jace is gonna need you.

[Maryse sighs.]

[HOSPITAL, WAITING ROOM]

[Izzy sits down by Simon and sighs.]

ISABELLE: I know the timing sucks, but we need you. Clary is back in the Institute but Lilith has Rose.

SIMON: [shocked] No.

ISABELLE: And the one thing aside from Rose's magical powers that has proven to work against Lilith's disciples- 

KLAUS: Your mark. 

SIMON: My mark... which Heidi somehow knew about. I thought, I thought the Seelie Queen told her, but what if what if Lilith freed Heidi?

ISABELLE: Simon, if you can't do this, everyone will understand.

SIMON: [rising] No! No. I just lost my mom. I'm not gonna sit idle while Clary's losing Rose. I have to this for her.

[APARTMENT BUILDING, OUTSIDE]

[Alec, Jonathan, Theo, Clary, Luke, and Izzy are waiting for Simon to get back from investigating.]

JONATHAN: Simon's been in the building forever.

CLARY: What's taking him so long? 

HAYLEY: It's a vey big building. 

ISABELLE: Johnathan, Clary, it's a high rise.

[The next moment, Simon is standing next to them.]

SIMON: Sorry. I tried to get as close as I could without anyone noticing, but my vamp ears couldn't hear Rose inside anywhere.

THEO: Lilith must be concealing her location with some kind of glamour.

ISABELLE: Let's find out.

[Izzy activates a rune on her hand.] 

HOPE: What's this rune for? 

LOUIS: Spiritum. 

SIMON: What does that one do?

ALEC: Spiritum.

THEO: It allows us to see currents of supernatural energy. So, if we can't see the shark in the ocean...

CLARY: ... you can still see the waves it makes.

[Izzy opens her eyes. There are little blue lines in them. She sees waves on the building.] 

HOPE: The waves were visible. 

ISABELLE: Lilith has portal wards on the perimeter [looking higher] and she's redirected ley lines to the top floor. I've never seen magic that strong.

ALEC: With or without Magnus, we have to get Rose out of there.

LUKE: Look, Lilith's gonna throw everything she has at us, including Jace.

SIMON: For the record, I'd rather not vaporize Jace if he tries to kill me, but I can't control how this thing works, or the fact that he'll probably try to kill me during the fight. 

JACE: You won't kill me. 

SIMON: I won't. 

THEO: That's a good point. I have another way you can be helpful.

[Theo throws a stele Simon's way. He catches it.] 

ELENA: What was he going to do with that? 

SIMON: What am I gonna do with a steely?

ALEC: "Stele".

SIMON: I've heard it both ways.

[LILITH'S APARTMENT]

[Rose is struggling to get out of the cuffs when Ollie enters from the elevator. She approaches Jace.]

OLLIE: The fire alarm just went off downstairs. The mundanes are evacuating the building.

JACE: There's no fire.

OLLIE: Luke Garroway is leading a strike team from the Institute.

LILITH: Is the Daylighter with them?

ROSE: Why do you care if Simon's here?

LILITH: Keep them away from my boy. Avoid the vampire. Kill the rest.

[The disciples go to the elevator.]

[APARTMENT BUILDING, DOWNSTAIRS]

[Luke, Clary and Izzy enter the building. The fire alarm is still going off.]

LUKE: Remember, you see any Disciples, stay non-lethal.

CLARY: We might be able to restore them eventually.

ISABELLE: Zero body count is gonna be a lot easier without any mundanes in the way. 

DAMON: Well, your plan was working smoothly so far. 

LUKE: Looks like the plan's working so far. [on his phone] Building's been emptied out on our end.

[Cut to Alec and Jonathan standing behind a corner. Two security guards exit the building from the back.]

SECURITY: All clear back here. Heading to meet the fire department.

ALEC: [on the phone] Looks like security's the last one out.

LUKE: Which means we've got about five minutes before emergency response gets in the way.

JONATHAN: Here's to hoping Lilith has a short fuse.

ISABELLE: How do we know if she takes the bait?

[Alec and Jonathan see glass shattering on the top floor.] 

ROSE: She did. 

ALEC: Call it a hunch.

[Alec hangs up. Jace jumps from the top floor all the way down to the ground. When he stands up Alec gets ready to fire an arrow. Jonathan has his seraph blade.]

JACE: Careful. He's still in here.

ALEC: And he's prepared to die for it.

JONATHAN: He won't hesitate to fulfill that wish.

[Alec fires the arrow. But Jace holds up his hand and stops it right in the air. The arrow falls on the ground; Alec is confused.] 

FREYA: He had the magic. 

JONATHAN: He has Lilith's magic.

JACE: I could kill you with my magic right now. But I'd rather make Jace watch as I tear you apart with his hands. 

[Jace locks Jonathan in an invisible boundary spell. He slams Alec against a wall.]

[APARTMENT BUILDING, DOWNSTAIRS]

[Disciples suddenly come from all entries and surround Luke, Clary and Izzy.] 

TYLER: This is gonna be a fight. 

OLLIE: [to Luke] Hey there, partner.

[Izzy, Clary and Luke pull out their weapons.] 

OLLIE: You really think that can hurt me?

LUKE: Only one way to find out.

[APARTMENT BUILDING, OUTSIDE]

[Jace and Alec are still fighting. Jonathan is still trying to break through. They both have two daggers and Alec manages to stab Jace in the leg, and later in the arm. Jace drops one of his weapons. Jace disarms Alec of one of his daggers. They're now fighting with punches. Jace has Alec pinned against a wall and he breaks Alec's hand. Alec screams and falls down to the ground. Jace kicks him and picks up one of the daggers.] 

Jace flinches. 

JACE: Your boy is crying, you know. He's begging me, begging me not to do this.

[Jace is about to stab Alec, but Alec grabs Jace's arm.]

ALEC: Jace I know you're in there. It's okay. I forgive you. It wasn't you. I'm sorry we couldn't save you.

[Jace pushes the dagger into Alec's chest.] 

They all gasped at the scene. 

JONATHAN: No!

JACE: They say the worst pain a Shadowhunter can feel is the loss of his parabatai. Come here. It's time for Jace to finally feel it.

[A sudden scream makes Jace look up.]

MAGNUS: Alec!

[Magnus throws a ball of magic against Jace. Jace flies into the wall. Cut to Lilith.]

LILITH: No!

[Cut back to Magnus who runs to Alec. Jace is screaming, changing between forms of him and the Owl. He breaks Johnathan's boundary spell.] 

ELIJAH: You were free of the possession now. 

MAGNUS: [to Alec] Stay with me!

JONATHAN: Alec!

[Jace throws up black goo. It sizzles on the ground.]

ALEC: [to Magnus] Mom said you'd make a dramatic entrance.

MAGNUS: Wise woman. 

They smile at this scene. 

[Jace is himself again. He hurries over to Alec.]

JACE: Alec! Alec! Magnus, please, you've gotta fix him!

MAGNUS: I can't.

JACE: You can't?!

JONATHAN: What do you mean you can't?

MAGNUS: My magic, it's gone. I traded it to break Lilith's hold on you. 

KOL: You gave Asmodeus your magic. 

[Jace activates Alec's Iratze.]

ALEC: Jace it wasn't you.

MAGNUS: I'll take care of him.

[Jace puts the stele in Alec's hand. Then he looks up with gold in his eyes.]

JACE: I'm going to get Rose.

JONATHAN: I am coming with you.

[LILITH'S APARTMENT]

[Only Rose and Lilith are left in the apartment.]

ROSE: I can sense they are here. They will come.

LILITH: Let them.

[Lilith pulls Rose's shirt away and makes a cut in her chest with her fingernail.]

LILITH: I bet Achatius can't wait to see your parabatai again.

[Rose screams as Lilith makes the mark in her chest. The same mark appears on Achatius' chest.] 

Rose puts a hand on her chest. 

ROSE: That was very painful. 

LILITH: As you live, so shall my son. 

FREYA: She binded your life forces. 

[APARTMENT BUILDING, DOWNSTAIRS]

[Luke, Clary and Izzy are fighting the disciples. They almost got every last one but Ollie gets Luke to the floor.]

OLLIE: [to the disciples] Rise!!

[Luke kicks Ollie off of him. They all see the bodies shake and demons fly out of them.]

LUKE: How are we gonna take care of those guys?

ISABELLE: We just have to buy Simon and Theo some time.

CLARY: She is right.

[LILITH'S APARTMENT]

[Lilith looks at Achatius' body. The heart is beating. Simon suddenly appears in front of Rose.] 

REBEKAH: And here you made the entry. 

SIMON: Hey! Miss me?

ROSE: What are you doing here, Simon? 

[Simon uses his strength to get the cuffs off.]

SIMON: Let's get the hell out of here!

ROSE: No, wait! No! We can't let her stay in this realm. 

KEELIN: Well, that was true. 

SIMON: You are right.

SIMON: Oh. Cool, cool, cool. Okay. So, what's the play?

ROSE: Lilith is afraid of that mark on your head.

SIMON: But it's defensive, not offensive. We'd have to get her to make a run at me, but she's smarter than that, isn't she? 

HOPE: Not when it comes to her son. 

ROSE: Not when it comes to her son, she isn't.

SIMON: Okay.

ROSE: But I'd need a stele. 

THEO: I was right about that. 

SIMON: [handing Rose the stele from his back pocket] Uh, Theo thought you might say that.

[APARTMENT BUILDING, DOWNSTAIRS]

[Jace and Jonathan appear through the doors behind the demons and slays them with their blades.]

LUKE: Rose's on the top floor!

[Jace and Jonathan start running as Luke, Clary and Izzy continue to fight the disciples that have woken up.]

[LILITH'S APARTMENT]

ROSE: Get away from Achatius!

LILITH: Why would I do that?

[Lilith walks into the dining room. Rose suddenly holds up the stele to her throat.]

ROSE: As I live, so shall your son. 

LILITH: You wouldn't. 

KLAUS: She will panic. 

[Rose starts to make a cut. Lilith walks towards her and Rose quickly draws the sunlight rune in her hand. She shines it at Lilith. Lilith is blasted away.]

LILITH: Foolish child!

ROSE: Simon, now!

[Simon runs to the casket.]

ROSE: Do it, Simon! End this!

[The sunlight stops shining. Lilith sees Simon bashing on the glass.]

LILITH: No!!

[APARTMENT BUILDING, STAIRWELL]

[Jace and Jonathan are running to the top floor. They encounter some disciples who he fights off and throws down the stairs.]

[LILITH'S APARTMENT]

[Lilith has gotten up. She runs to Simon, screaming.]

LILITH: No! No!! 

REBEKAH: She was attacking him, that's what you needed.  

[The glass is almost through. Shot of Jace and Jonathan running up the stairs. Lilith gets ready to punch Simon. The mark on his head lights up. A blast of energy is released and blasts not only Lilith but also Simon away. He is blown through the window into the night. Theo also comes there. Rose wants to go look over the edge but someone has grabbed her arm. Theo's arm was also grabbed. They look back.] 

They gasped. 

HOPE: You came back into life. 

[Lilith gets up and smiles as she sees that Achatius is alive, but then discovers she herself is evaporating. Lighting crackles. She bursts into flames and there is a big explosion on the top floor.] 

HAYLEY: She was back in hell. 

[APARTMENT BUILDING, DOWNSTAIRS]

[All the disciples suddenly fall to the ground.]

ISABELLE: What happened?

LUKE: I think Lilith got sent the hell back to Edom.

CLARY: Simon did it.

[Slowly, the "disciples" start to regain consciousness. Luke looks at Ollie.]

[LILITH'S APARTMENT]

[Jace and Jonathan run up to the top floor.]

JACE: Rose!!

JONATHAN: Theo!!

[The entire top floor has exploded. Jace and Jonathan see a hand by the edge. Simon climbs up to the floor.] 

ELIJAH: You escaped the blast. 

SIMON: My mark... there was an explosion...

[Simon looks around for Rose and Theo. Jonathan drops his blade and goes to Simon. He grabs his shoulders.]

JACE: Hey. It's me. It's me. It's me. It's me. Hey.

JONATHAN: Where are they? Where's Rose? Where's Theo?

SIMON: I killed them. They're dead. 

CAROLINE: You were not dead. 

[Jonathan lets go of Simon and tears fill their eyes.]
