10: Summer's PoV
*13 minutes later*
The bus arrives with a screeching halt, and the doors open with a lous hiss. We're still the only people at the bus stop, so we don't have to wait for anyone to get on. The bus drivers leans closer to the window, and I smile in relief. He's one of the good ones, a young, smiley man called Sammy.
I'll be honest here, I'm pretty sure that man is the happiest goth you can find. People usually don't trust him because of his long black hair, many piercings and all-black wardrobe, but don't let that fool you. He bails us out of trouble every time we land in a sticky situation.
Which is a lot.
He glances at Lou and I, then at Seb. "So you two made a friend, eh? Don't give me that look, Summer, you don't have to pay." he chuckles. "So what's your name?"
Seb pauses for a moment, probably trying to determine whether Sammy was a good guy or not. Thankfully, he smiles at Sammy. "The name's Seb, what about you?"
"Sammy. Just sayin', Seb, if you're gonna hang out with these two, you might wanna take more care of your sanity. Let's just say their favourite hobby is causing as much chaos as possible."
Me and Lou smile sheepishly, and I can tell Seb is supressing a laugh. "I could tell."
We make for the back seats, and I call window seat. Tor the first time ever, I beat Lou, who ends up sitting in the middle of us. Being the extremely mature person I am, I stick my tongue out at him and he gives me the finger in reply.
After a few minutes of travelling, Seb looks at us. "So, tell me a bit about yourselves. Lou go first."
Lou paused for a while, before speaking. "Well, uh, I'm twelve years old, I like sports, messing around and basically doing anything that isn't boring. Also, I've got this really wierd habit of accidentally injuring people when I don't mean to. Just saying."
I smirk. "Remember that time you accidentally crashed into that kid down the road and gave him a broken arm?"
Lou winces and goes red. "Right. That wasn't my fault. He was standing right next to a staircase. A steep one."
Seb smiles. "Wonderful. Now Summer, what about you?"
"So, I'm twelve years old (like Lou), I like reading, sports and, yes, causing chaos. And, yeah. there's basically not much else I guess." I shrug.
Lou raises an eyebrow. "Mm, really? You sure you don't wanna add anything else?"
I mock-glare at him- I wasn't ready for Seb to hear all the other wierd stuff I could do. "Nope."
Seb looks confused. "Should I ask, or...?"
Lou smirks at me. "Let's just say she's got a few... interesting.... abilities."
Seb shrugs in reply. "Fair enough."
Lou then look at him and pretends to point an imaginary microphone in his face. "Now, your turn. Speak."
"I dunno. I guess I'm just meant to protect you two, take you to the camp and... yeah."
I shake my head. "I couldn't care less about that. I want to know yoyr personality. Age? Likes? Dislikes? Random habits? I know Lou here's got quite a few."
He gives me a look and Seb laughs. "I could tell. Don't get freaked out, but I'm 28 years old, I love classical music and I hate drawing."
I smile, already liking this guy. "I feel you on that one. Now, take a step back, you said you were 28. Do you feel like explaining?"
He grins sheepishly. "Well, I'm a satyr, part of the whole Greek mythology thing, and... it's hard to explain, but we look a lot younger than we actually are, and we mature a lot slower than humans."
Lou nods slowly, and I can see he is thinking. "So when you're sixty or something, you're actual age will be like, over a hundred or something? Cool!"
Seb looks at me. "Is he always like this?"
I nod grimly. "Yup. It's like seven years an hour when you're with him. Get used to it, mate."
He glares at both of us and put a dramatic hand on his chest "I am so offended."
I grin and put my head in my hands. "You are the most dramatic person I've ever met. And I'm saying this after my brother started school."
No.
Crap.
I said that out loud. Lou doesn't yet know that I have- had- a brother, so he probably has no idea what I'm on about. It's now that I feel grateful for being able to hida what I'm feeling, so I can act like this isn't a surprise to him. But as I steel a gkance at Lou, I can tell he is shocked.
Seb doesn't notice and peers down the aisle. "Wow. We're the only people here."
Still hiding my frustration at myself, I lean back and smile. "This is my type of place."
