After an exhausting day of lessons, the girls were all gathered in the library. Maya and Marlene had been dragged along by Fiona and Lily. However, one girl was missing. Alice had said she had to be somewhere and took off, leaving the others slightly bewildered.
"You know," Marlene piped up suddenly, "I think Alice is hiding something."
Lily raised an eyebrow, "Meaning?"
"Oh come on, don't tell me you don't find it odd that she runs off somewhere and makes some poor excuse to us!" Marlene said out loud.
"Shh!" Madam Pince said, glaring at the blonde.
"Sorry." Marlene whispered before returning to face her friends. "I mean, Alice has disappeared a few times without telling us where she is going."
"So- Hang on," Fiona breathed out with wide eyes, "You're not saying she might be seeing someone, right?"
"That's exactly my point." Marlene said, lounging back into her seat with a triumphant expression.
"I mean," Lily began saying thoughtfully, "we could just be overthinking it. Perhaps, she's helping out a teacher or going tutoring..." Lily trailed off, now sounding unsure.
"You see? She's hiding something."
The girls thought but one person that always couldn't keep quiet was sitting silently, watching the conversation play out. Fiona thought before turning to Maya, feeling a bit suspicious as to why she hadn't breathed a single word.
"Maya."
The young Patil froze as if a deer caught in headlights.
"Yeah?" The girl said in an unsure tone.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" Fiona slyly said, making the others look at Maya with suspicion, who squirmed in her seat uncomfortably.
"I was just... thinking." Maya replied unsure.
"Yeah, right. Alright, Patil, spill." Marlene said in a not so welcoming voice.
Maya fidgeted with her hands, "I swear I can't tell because I told Alice I wouldn't tell anyone, and if you idiots find out I think you might ruin it for her."
The other three exchanged glances. "We won't spoil whatever you're going on about." Lily said, frowning slightly.
"OK fine! So Alice and Frank have been having study sessions together. He's been helping out Alice for Herbology." Maya whispered in a low voice. "And I caught the two of them today in the Greenhouses since I followed Alice because I found it odd as well that she kept running off to somewhere and well, apparently Frank asked Alice out on a date! But when they plan on doing it, I don't know." Maya finished, eyes flickering between her friends uncertainly.
The other three stayed silent, processing the news before they widely smiled.
"Good for her!" Lily said.
"Aw, about time they get a move on." Fiona commented with a dreamy smile.
"I CALLED IT!" Marlene yelled, which resulted in the group of friends getting kicked out of the library by a very angry Madam Pince.
And when Alice came back into the dormitory an hour later, she was bombarded with questions and excited squeals. The girls couldn't help but feel happy for their friend as she may just get with the person she likes.

At dinner that same evening, the boys sat with the girls once again. Fortunately, Sirius' new companion was seated at her House table.
Sirius kept sneaking glances at Fiona, his expression sour. Fiona laughed at Maya who was trying to balance a spoon on her nose. All Sirius wanted to do was be the reason to make her smile. He was burning with jealousy as Maya was the one making Fiona smile, since Maya and Fiona had said they were together.
"Maya, put that down and finish your dinner." Lily said, grimacing.
"Jeez, alright Miss. Kill-joy." Maya said bluntly before eating silently.
"Lily, let her have her fun." Fiona said, even though normally she too would have told Maya off but regarding how down Maya was feeling in the morning, all Fiona wanted was to keep her best friend smiling.
"Yeah, let Potter's girlfriend have her fun." Sirius said, jealousy hidden within his tone. The rest of the Marauders and the girls all froze, turning to look at Sirius with surprised expressions. This made Sirius feel bewildered. "What?" He said, not understanding why everyone was staring at him weirdly.
Fiona and Maya bursted out laughing, while Lily, Marlene and Alice giggled and the other three Marauders frowned slightly.
"Oh gosh, don't tell me you actually fell for that?" Fiona breathed out, clutching her stomach.
Sirius narrowed his eyes, "What do you mean?"
"Black, it was a joke. We were just messing around. Oh and I thought you Marauders would have some brains since you play pranks all the time but oh boy was I wrong." Maya said, wiping her eyes.
Sirius' demeanor faltered. "So, it was all fake?"
"Yes." Fiona said, before returning to her food, shaking her head at Sirius' confused behaviour.
But Sirius felt as if a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. This situation made him realize what he could lose and so he had now made it his goal to win over Fiona Potter, before someone else made their space in her heart.

"And, in 1945, our unpredictable, amazing Headmaster kicked Grindel idiot's arse and got him sent to prison... Sirius, what is this?" Fiona questioned with a grimace that was hiding a smile, and Sirius grinned at her mischievously.
"The assignment." He replied without hesitation.
"I-'' And against her will, a chuckle managed to leave Fiona's lips, "First of all, we need to write this in chronological order. Second, this level of effort will make us both get a bad mark and I am not letting that happen, for my sake at least. And third, you're not a man of your word."
Sirius threw his head back and barked out laughter, "Darling, it's called having a bit of fun. And I am a man of my word, I just thought why not play around for a bit?" He said, winking at the young Potter.
It had been a few days since the start of the week and after the confusion had cleared up, Sirius had ditched Lila and surprisingly, hadn't found anyone new to snog. Now, the young Black and Potter were in the library, spending a bit of time on getting a small portion of the assignment done. But Sirius had spent his time cooking up the true story with a twist.
Fiona scribbled something on the piece of parchment before giving it back to Sirius, who reached for it and his fingers grazed Fiona's. Fiona felt her hand tingle where the young Black had touched her, but she brushed it off.
"So, Hallowe'en's coming up," Sirius began saying, "We're hosting a party-"
"No drinks or such or I will immediately report it to Professor McGonagall." Fiona sharply said, not looking up from the parchment she was writing on.
"Fona, you really are a party pooper. Come on, it's just a bit of fun-"
"It's totally your individual choice if you drink or smoke, but that doesn't mean everyone else has to do it, especially if they're underage." Fiona said, grimacing. "You know I don't approve of it. If I could I would try to break your habits too since they aren't healthy coping ways, but I have no right to do so."
Sirius looked at Fiona with an unreadable expression, but his mind was running with thoughts now, especially thinking of Fiona's last few words.
"I could be yours if you just gave me a chance." He whispered, watching Fiona frown at her parchment.

A few days later, Fiona woke up feeling unwell. After a trip to the bathroom, she realized it was that time of the month. Fiona always dreaded the few days, the first two being complete torture.
At breakfast, Fiona was quieter than usual, her hand going to clutch her stomach every few seconds. The girls always knew so they never found this behaviour of hers odd, however when the boys came, they certainly found it a bit off.
"Fia-"
"Don't annoy me with your crap, Potter." Fiona said, holding up a finger to silence James who immediately fell quiet, giving his sister a dirty glare.
"What's the matter with you?" Sirius questioned, slightly surprised by Fiona's snappiness towards James.
"None of your business, Black." Fiona stood up. "I'm off to class-"
"But you've barely eaten anything." Alice said.
"I'll be fine, Al." Fiona replied, going out of the Great Hall, trying to ignore the pain in her lower stomach.
Fiona's usual excitement and awe she experienced in Care of Magical Creatures was lower than usual. In Defence Against the Dark Arts that afternoon, after making sure Professor Wilson wasn't looking, Fiona pulled out a Sugar Quill. Sirius couldn't help but notice soon after the candy that was in Fiona's hand.
"Breaking rules now are we?" He whispered into Fiona's ear.
"Your point?" She hissed back before placing the Sugar Quill in her mouth once again.
Sirius frowned as he recalled her words from their recent Hogsmeade trip. "So I take it you're not feeling well?"
"Oh no, I'm practically glowing with happiness- Just be quiet and focus on the lesson, please!"
Sirius made a face but did as told. After the lesson, Remus and Fiona were in the library and by the time they were walking back, Fiona's legs were worn out. Looking at the amount of stairs they had left, Fiona groaned.
"Remus, could you please give me a piggyback ride all the way back? I can't walk anymore." Fiona said, leaning against the wall. Remus watched her with worry in his eyes.
"Are you sick?"
"No, it's the damn period. It's really killing me this time, it should be better after tomorrow hopefully."
Remus nodded. "Sure, I'll carry you back." And he bent down so Fiona could climb onto his back.
"Thanks Rem." Fiona smiled in gratitude.
However the next second, Fiona was swept off her feet, as two strong arms lifted her up gracefully. Fiona gasped at the sudden movement, her eyes full of surprise as they connected with grey ones.
"Put me down, Sirius."
"Fona, why trouble poor Moony? I'm more than happy to be of service." Sirius replied with a wink, before beginning to travel up towards the tower.
Fiona couldn't help but gaze at him, being able to observe the small details about him due to the closeness. He smelled intoxicating. Fiona felt a small blush come on when Sirius looked at her, only to smirk at her as he caught her staring. Arriving at the portrait of the Fat Lady, Sirius set Fiona on her feet.
"Thank you." She said.
Sirius winked at her. Remus came up behind the two and the whole time he had been carefully watching the pair, and he knew that both Fiona and Sirius were perhaps harboring feelings for each other.
Sirius Black and Fiona Potter were unaware they both were in for an unexpected ride for the next while, but after all, Destiny has a plan for everyone. Plans that could change everything.ย
