Charu meant a lot to me. She was my first girlfriend. We'd bonded over the stupidest and silliest of things, including which types of ice-creams you should never combine.

It wasn't love at first sight, it took a whole week.

Our first date was as awkward as hell. The most PDA we had was just holding hands, but a few months later, we became comfortable with each other. Every time I'd score a fifty or won an award. Charu would kiss my cheek, or sometimes, just sometimes, kiss me. A few of my teammates liked to call us an 'elderly couple' since we didn't engage in too much PDA. Just an occasional heart emoji on her posts. I once took her out for a movie, she fell asleep halfway through. She'd been working all night to fix some crisis. Yuzi being Yuzi had taken a photo of us. My arms around her waist, and her sleeping on my chest.

I loved cracking stupid jokes, they always made her roll her eyes or laugh, I preferred the latter. I once asked Virat, 'why am I so protective of her'. He'd responded, that it was natural and he was twice as protective over Anushka.

My sister told me that I needed to stop obsessing over her, or I'll be hurt. I guess what she said ended up coming true.

Because right now, I'm standing in her house, congratulating her on the confirmation of her marriage.
