The Miss Right ✔️
A/N This one-shot is dedicated to JLP_Lover. Thanks for the prompt girl!! By the way, it's written in Euphemia's p.o.v.
( In which Euphemia finds the Ms. Right for her son )
I
was excited to meet James' girlfriend.
From his words, it looked like he loved Lily Evans a lot. Every break, every summer, every letter, I saw/heard her name. She was like a part of his heart.
And today, I was finally going to meet her.
Monty was rolling his eyes at my excitement but I didn't care. My thirteen-year-old niece, Elizabeth Potter, was helping me in the kitchen with Dorea.
'Now Mia,' Dorea laughed, 'calm down. We are all excited to meet Lily Evans.'
'Well Mom,' Eliza smirked, 'it looks like Aunt Mia is a little too excited. I don't blame here, James has been gushing about her since first year.'
I laughed and said, 'She sounds wonderful. And maybe she's the one? The Miss Right we have all wished for?'
Eliza suddenly found her nails very interesting.
'Elizabeth Azure Potter,' Dorea said slowly, 'are you hiding something?'
Eliza jumped, looking alarmed. She looked guilty, I noticed.
'Well Mom,' Eliza said calmly, 'from what I have seen at school, she certainly is the Miss Right. They fit like two puzzle pieces together. You know, like she's the moon to his stars, the happiness of life. The reason he's living.'
I blinked. Those were...deep lines. And Elizabeth Azure Potter hated deep lines.
It looked like Dorea thought this too, because she said, 'Eliza...have you been watching those romantic Muggle movies again?'
I laughed unexpectedly. Eliza had gone a dark red color. Dorea sighed. She shook her head.
'Claudia Fortescuse is a bad influence,' she decided, 'but I like her too much to scold her.'
Claudia Fortescue was Eliza's best friend, and Alice Fortescue's younger sister.
Eliza rolled her eyes and went back to her work. I came inside the sitting room and saw Sirius sitting by Fleamont's side, telling him about the Quidditch Match between The Wasps and The Arrows.
'And then, you won't believe it Dad,' Sirius was speaking, 'McPherson dived and dodged Simpson! For a scary moment, I thought The Wasps would win but Simpson did this amazing mid-air flip and caught it!'
Fleamont chuckled at his son's excitement.
'Well Sirius,' I said, a hint of smile playing at my lips, 'can you please tell me more about Lily Evans? James only drones on about her eyes.'
Sirius raised an eyebrow, then he smirked. The Black smirk which Dorea still couldn't get rid of.
'Well Mum,' he drawled lazily, 'Lily Evans in an interesting character. Why don't I start from the beginning? From the day Jamsie-poo became a lover boy? From the day he followed her like a lost puppy?'
Fleamont smirked at that. I turned to him and said, 'stop smirking Monty. You chased me for years. Even after Hogwarts. Auror Academy was a nightmare. James gets that from you.'
Sirius snickered at Fleamont's rather pink cheeks.
'So, let's start,' Sirius said cheerfully.
'Lily Jasmine Evans, currently seventeen and Gryffindor prefect. Expected to be Head Girl this year. Potions and Charms extraordinaire. Patronus takes the form of a doe, yes, a companion to James' stag. Best friends include Marlene McKinnon, Emmeline Vance, Dorcas Meadowes, Alice Fortescue, Remus, Peter and of course, the awesome me.'
Fleamont perked up when Sirius said Potions extraordinaire. I, on the other hand, was amazed by her patronus. Soulmates eh? Interesting. Sirius continued:
'Muggle-born but has got more power in her fingers than the old pure-bloods. Sassy, sarcastic but sweet and clever as well. Also has a magical aunt, Fiona Blackburn. Also, she has a sister and they don't get on well. Which is why we are rather close. Mutual things, you know.'
I was surprised. Fiona Blackburn worked in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Sirius, oblivious to my surprise, continued.
'Once hexed me to death after I pranked her in fourth year. And of course, took on three Death Eaters alone during her patrol.'
'Excuse me?' Fleamont and I said, sharply. Sirius winced.
'Uhh..there was this time last year that three Death Eaters, Yaxley, Avery and Malfoy, tried to use the Cruciatus on her during patrol. She took on them alone, Avery spent a month in the Hospital Wing. Poppy was horrified at the injuries, let's just say that he still can't walk wuthout howling in pain,' he said.
I decided that I did not want to know what happened to Avery.
Fleamont chuckled softly. From our late-night talks, I had gathered that he wanted a strong daughter-in-law. Which, judging by Sirius' words, we'll be getting soon. If things went well...
I tried not to think of the traditional Potter family ring kept in our family vault.
'Mom! Dad!'
'Oh shit,' Sirius cursed, 'Prongs is here. And if he's not with Evans, I'm a duck.'
I snorted and came out. And in front of me was the most gorgeous girl I had seen in my life.
She had silky dark red hair which fell gracefully to her waist. It framed her kind and beautiful face tenderly. Her eyes were large, almond-shaped and the most wonderful shade of emerald green I had laid my eyes upon.
A silver necklace with an emerald heart pendant rested happily on her collarbone. Definitely a gift from James.
She was wearing a light blue dress made of chiffon. It reached just below her knees and had no sleeves. The perfect attire for a summer night in London.
She looked nervous, I noticed. She was holding hands with James.
'Um...Mum?' James said. I smiled.
'Yes? Could you give us an introduction James?' I said, chuckling softly. My son blushed a little.
'Right, Lily, this is my mother, Euphemia Potter. That's my father, Fleamont Potter. And that's my aunt, Dorea Potter. Mom, Dad, Auntie, this is my girlfriend, Lily Evans.
'Hello dear, James talks a lot about you,' I smiled, encasing one of her hands in both of mine.
She smiled. 'About you too Mrs. Potter, he respects you a lot,' she said. I laughed.
'Please feel free to call me Mia, or Phee, whatever you prefer,' I said brightly.
'And me, it's Ria,' Dorea added.
'Monty for me dear, I'm glad that you like Potions,' Fleamont smiled. Lily and James blinked.
'How did you know that Si--Monty?' Lily asked, puzzled. He smirked sideways at Sirius, who cringed.
'I have my sources,' he winked. 'Can we start dinner now? That soup looked delicious Mia.'
I rolled my eyes. Both James and Monty were hungry monsters.
'Sure, why not?' Dorea said. We came inside the dining room and took our seats. The House-Elves served the exotic dishes made especially for today.
'So Lily,' I said after a while, 'what are you planning to do after Hogwarts?'
She took a deep breath. 'I was originally planning to become a healer,' she said softly, 'but in the current situation...I decided for an Auror instead.'
I nodded gravely. Voldemort was rising quickly and many Aurors were dying.
A comfortable sort of silence settled around us.
'So Lily, do you have siblings?' Dorea asked curiously. From the dark look that crossed her face, I knew that Ria had asked a wrong question.
'Well, yes,' Lily said carefully after a nervous glance at James. 'I have an elder sister. Petunia. She's a muggle. We don't get on well because I'm a witch.'
The sadness was traceable in her voice and I felt pity for the young witch sitting in front of me.
'Jealousy, I guess?' Fleamont said, careful not to hurt her feelings. She nodded sadly.
'But Lily,' I said after the dinner, when we were talking in the sitting room, 'if you don't mind, can I take a test to see if you truly are good for my son?'
'Mum what the--' I gave James a sharp glance, which made him shut up. Lily's face was pale.
'Uhh, yes...' She said slowly, and I thought that she wanted to add 'maybe, if you don't intend to kill me.'
'If James died, what would you do?' I asked.
'Kill the one who murdered him and then follow him,' her eyes flashed dangerously.
'If you had to choose between James and your family, what would you do?' I asked.
'Rather die than choose,' she answered.
'If he cheated on you, what would you do?' I asked.
'He won't, because I have faith in him,' she said firmly.
'And?' I asked my last question.
'Love him until my last breath,' she replied.
I smiled and hugged her tightly and warmly.
'I found the Miss Right for my James,' I laughed. She smiled, looking relieved. And the way she looked at James, with the love, happiness and adoration in her emerald eyes, I knew one thing:
Lily Evans was the only girl made for my son and I adored her.
A/N: 1495 words. Dammit, I write longer chapters now. Also, you may have noticed that I'm adding OCs along the way, so I'll define who they are so you won't be confused :) Take care and stay safe.
Love,
Aurora:)
