Let me know what you want from me

"𝕄𝕆𝕄, I don't—I don't think I like it here," a scrawny boy with glasses named Joel said, standing nervously with his parents.

"Oh, will you stop already?" his mother, Selma, snapped. She reached into her purse, rummaging through it with one hand while using the other to keep her son still. "Do you know how dirty you are?" She pulled out a tissue, licked it, and began wiping Joel's face with exaggerated care.

The father, exasperated, intervened. "Selma, please leave him alone."

Joel, his breathing laboured, reached for his inhaler. "I can't breathe," he wheezed.

Selma, still fussing over him, dismissed his complaint. "Oh, stop it, Joel, please. Now stand up straight."

As Joel raised the inhaler to his mouth, he caught sight of Lilith. She stood out against the mundane backdrop of Camp Chippewa, her dark attire and striking presence a stark contrast to the cheery camp atmosphere. At that moment, she was watching Pugsley attempt to hang himself from a nearby tree, a morbid activity that seemed perfectly ordinary to the Addams family.

Joel's parents continued to bicker, their voices a distant murmur as he stared, entranced by Lilith. To him, she was the most enchanting girl he had ever seen.

However, his admiration did not go unnoticed. Wednesday, ever watchful and possessive, saw Joel's longing gaze. His protective instincts flared, and he wrapped his arm around Lilith's waist, drawing her close. Without a word, he kissed her lovingly, staking his claim. Lilith blushed but returned the kiss, her cheeks turning a delicate shade of pink. When Wednesday finally pulled away, he cast a cold, warning glare at Joel over her shoulder. His message was clear: 'She is mine.'

Joel, embarrassed and intimidated, quickly averted his eyes. The intensity of Wednesday's glare and the possessiveness in his actions left no room for misunderstanding.

Wednesday turned his attention back to Lilith, his expression softening as he traced his thumb across her bottom lip. Lilith stared up at him in shock, still reeling from the unexpected display of affection.

In that moment, the contrast between the ordinary world of the other campers and the dark, passionate world of the Addams family was starkly evident. And Joel, for all his fascination with Lilith, knew better than to challenge the boy who had claimed her heart.

🥀

A whistle blew sharply, capturing everyone's attention. Gary, brimming with enthusiasm, called out, "Lifesaving! Now I know we're all top-notch little swimmers, but now we get to show our stuff and earn those certificates!" He jumped up and down, and most of the children clapped energetically. The Addams boys, Lilith, and Joel, however, remained unimpressed.

Gary continued, "Hey, how about our first little pair of lifesaving buddies? Amanda, Lilith."

Lilith walked forward in her full-piece, all-black swimsuit adorned with white stripes. Wednesday watched her with love and adoration in his eyes. Amanda, wearing a bright orange and cheerful swimsuit, looked at Lilith with a judgmental expression. "Is that your bathing suit?" she sneered.

Lilith replied coolly, "Is that your overbite?"

Amanda scowled and looked away. Gary, trying to maintain the excitement, spoke again, "Now one of you will be the drowning victim, and the other one gets to be our lifesaver."

Amanda eagerly volunteered, "I'll be the victim."

Wednesday, unable to hold back, muttered, "All your life."

Lilith chuckled at his remark. Amanda, ignoring him, announced, "I'm going to be an actress."

Gary, impressed by her enthusiasm, said, "Brava! Now, Amanda, jump in, swim out a few yards, and start drowning."

Amanda leaped into the water and, with theatrical flair, cried out, "Help me! Help me! I'm drowning! Help me! I'm dying!" She sank dramatically beneath the surface. Gary turned to Lilith, who stood with her arms crossed. She smiled wickedly and declared, "I can't swim." Gary's smile faded, and Wednesday looked on, proud of Lilith's defiance.

Suddenly, a boy pushed Pugsley into the water. Without hesitation, Lilith dove in, swiftly reaching Pugsley. She glared at the boy who had pushed him before grabbing his ankle and yanking him into the water as well. She then swam to Amanda, who was still flailing dramatically. Lilith dragged Amanda back to the edge and unceremoniously tossed her onto the plank.

Amanda coughed and glared at Lilith, but her expression changed when she saw the cold, steely look in Lilith's eyes. The icy chill in Lilith's gaze sent a shiver down Amanda's spine, silencing her complaints.

🥀

The night sky was ablaze with flashes of lightening, and the sound of thunder reverberated through the air. As the rain poured down outside, Wednesday and Lilith stirred from their slumber, a sense of unease settling over them. Sensing that something was amiss, Lilith sprang out of bed, her movements swift and purposeful.

She lit candles around the room, casting an eerie glow in the darkness, and set out her tarot cards on the table. As she began to read the cards, her expression grew tense, her features tightening with each revelation. Wednesday watched her intently, a silent understanding passing between them.

He wanted to reach out to her, to offer comfort in the face of whatever troubling news the cards revealed. But he knew better than to disturb her while she was in the midst of her readings. He could sense the gravity of the situation, the weight of impending doom hanging heavy in the air. Lilith clenched her fist and gritted her teeth, her determination palpable as she absorbed the meaning of the cards. Wednesday could see the turmoil in her eyes, the fierce determination to uncover the truth no matter the cost. And though he longed to hold her, to offer solace in the midst of the storm, he remained by her side, a silent sentinel in the darkness.

Morning arrived, casting its gentle light into the cabin where Pugsley and Wednesday sat flanking Lilith on her bed. She was engrossed in her drawings, deciphering the intricate patterns of her tarot readings. Wednesday's arm was wrapped protectively around her, holding her close and tight.

"Mail call! Addams!" Gary's booming voice announced their visitor as he and Becky entered the cabin. Gary placed the letter on the bed, and Wednesday wasted no time in tearing it open, his brows furrowing with concern as he read its contents. Lilith leaned in, her arms wrapped around him, sharing in his apprehension. "Oh, no," Wednesday muttered, his voice heavy with dismay, prompting Pugsley to inquire anxiously, "What is it?" Lilith's response was terse and tense, "This is unspeakable," her teeth gritted in frustration.

Becky's voice cut through the tension, concern etched on her face, "Something wrong, Lilith? Bad news?" Wednesday spared her a glance before declaring gravely, "This is the worst thing that has ever happened in the history of human events."

Turning to Pugsley, Wednesday dropped the bombshell, "Uncle Fester is getting married." The news hung heavy in the air as the gravity of the situation sunk in.

"A wedding? But that's great news," Gary interjected optimistically, but Amanda's question mirrored the skepticism in the room, "To whom?"

Lilith shot Amanda a glare, her disdain evident in her voice as she replied, "The nanny." Amanda's expression twisted in disgust, "Get out of the cabin. I mean, I'll kill myself. The help?"

Becky attempted to diffuse the tension, "I'm sure she's a very nice lady," but Amanda's disdain persisted, "I think that's disgusting. I think their whole family's like some weird medical experiment. I think they're like circus people."

Wednesday and Pugsley exchanged a cold glance, their disapproval palpable. Lilith, fuelled by anger, stepped forward, her voice dripping with venom, "What did you say?" Pugsley echoed her sentiment, "Say that again."

Becky quickly intervened, stepping between them, "Tempers! Group hug." Lilith and Pugsley backed away, refusing the gesture, while Wednesday held Lilith close, planting a kiss on her jaw to soothe her.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group engaged in the gesture, hugging Gary and Becky with smiles plastered on their faces. Gary approached the trio, attempting to bridge the divide, "Wednesday, Pugsley, Lilith, will a hug hurt us?" Lilith's glare remained fixed on Amanda as she retorted, "Make me hug that pest, she will get hurt." Wednesday added, "I only hug Lilith."

Becky attempted to diffuse the tension with a chuckle, "Oh! They're just shy," but Pugsley corrected her, "We're not shy." Wednesday chimed in, injecting a touch of humour, "We're contagious."

Gary and Becky withdrew their hands from the boys, sensing the tension in the air. Gary's voice cut through the uneasy atmosphere, his tone attempting to diffuse the situation, "I'm sensing some friction here, something not quite Chippewa." The girls in the cabin nodded in agreement, acknowledging the underlying tension. "But, hey, no problemo," Gary continued, his optimism undeterred. "All they need are good friends, good fun, and a little time in the harmony hut." His words were meant to reassure, offering a solution to the perceived discord among the group.

🥀

Pugsley shifted uncomfortably, voicing the question that lingered in the air, "How long do we have to stay in here?" He settled next to Wednesday, who held Lilith securely on his lap, his arms wrapped around her, finding solace in her presence. "Until we crack," Wednesday replied with a hint of resignation, his face buried in Lilith's neck. Lilith tenderly ran her fingers through his hair, offering silent comfort, before planting a gentle kiss on his jaw.

The door creaked open, revealing Joel being pushed into the hut by Gary. As Gary shut the door behind him, Joel hesitated, feeling the weight of Wednesday's gaze. When prompted, he answered nervously, avoiding Lilith's eyes, "I wouldn't go horseback riding."

"That's all?" Wednesday prodded, his tone laced with skepticism. Joel shifted uncomfortably before adding, "And I wouldn't make a birdhouse."

Lilith, intrigued, questioned, "Why not?" Joel glanced briefly at her before responding, "I just wanted to read." Before Joel could say more, Gary interrupted, snatching away his book with a mocking remark, "Not on my time, four eyes."

As Gary left, Joel's eyes scanned the cabin, and he let out a scream at the sight of a Michael Jackson poster. Wednesday rolled his eyes at the reaction, and Lilith, still soothing him, ran her hand through his hair and planted a comforting kiss on his cheek.
