Chapter 13: Puddings And Pies
"I'm bored."
It was an afternoon on yet another uneventful day, with the first Quidditch match coming up soon. As we ate, I couldn't help but feel deflated.
"How many times are you going to say this?" Fred asked with raised brows, although he had an amused look in his eyes.
"For as long as it takes me to not be bored." I replied in a whiny tone, but right then a light bulb lit up in my head. I grinned mischievously. Fred, noticing the change of expression on my face asked me, rather cautiously, "I know that look. What are you going to do?"
"Whatever do you mean?" I asked innocently, while batting my eyelashes.
"You know what I mean, what are you-" He didn't get to finish as my hand reached for the back of his head, shoving his face into the bowl of chocolate pudding in front of him. George and Lee stared with wide eyes, glancing at one another, before bursting into a fit of laughter, which attracted the attention of the rest of the hall. Others joined in, but the volume went higher when Fred came back up. His face was smeared entirely with the brown colored pudding.
I was clutching my stomach as tears filled my eyes. "I'm not - bored - anymore - so - you don't - have to - hear me - complain!" I said between laughs. Fred scowled at me and wiped some of the pudding off, before seizing a plate of Shepherd's pie. Realizing this, my giggling ceased and I was immediately up on my feet, rushing out of the Great Hall.
"BLACK! WEASLEY! STOP RIGHT THERE!" Screeched Professor McGonagall, but that wasn't going to make the two of us halt. I glanced quickly at the High table. McGonagall's face was red with anger, while Dumbledore had a delighted glint in his eyes and Lupin was muffling his chuckles. He caught my eye and gave me a wink. I grinned back before picking up my pace, as the sound of footsteps seemed closer.
Remus' Point of View
I couldn't help the chuckles that escaped me, seeing the red-headed Weasley chase after the now yellow-haired Black, who wore a grin from ear to ear. Catching her eye, I winked at her, only making her grin larger. As they exited the hall, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.
The shenanigans of the four troublesome students always takes me back to my school days. The pranks, the laughter, the chases, the scolding by Professor McGonagall, the detentions. It's as if I'm seeing a younger version of the four Marauders.
My face melted into despair.
How different things have become. With a sigh, I returned my focus to my food, although the thought wouldn't bother leaving my head. What went wrong? We were all happy. It was the four of us and now only I remain. James, along with Lily, was killed. Sirius turned into an insane murderer and even killed Peter.
Fighting back the tears, I shut out the heart-wrenching thoughts, and made my way out of the Great Hall and towards my office.
Rubina's Point of View
With no clue on where my feet were carrying me, I kept going, not wanting to get a pie thrown at my face. Fred, determined to get vengeance, wasn't going to back down without a fight. I burst out of the front doors, and into the outside world. Frantically, my eyes scoured all over the landscape, in hopes of escaping Fred, and in the end they landed on the vast, gloomy Black Lake.
I smirked to myself. Oh this is going to be good.
I kept running, while occasionally glancing over my shoulder and as expected Fred was still trailing behind. I suddenly stopped at the edge of the Lake. I peered down into the darkness that seemed to stretch beyond what was visible. I dawned on a horrified expression and whipped around to face Fred, who was strutting in my direction, with a triumphant smile on his face.
"Listen Fred, I'm really sorry. Truce, please?" We were face to face now.
"Nope." He raised his arm to throw the pie, but I had a plan already devised. I ducked, the pie falling into the lake and seizing the opportunity, I roughly pushed Fred, sending him flying into the freezing waters of the lake.
He let out a yelp right before he hit the surface and submerged within. I howled with laughter, as he resurfaced with shock and fury written ever so clearly on his face.
He snarled, "You'll pay for that!"
I was already making my way back up to the castle, "In your dreams Gred!" I called back, as I blew a kiss to mock him.
The fire in his eyes only deepened, but another emotion surged through, which I couldn't quite place my finger on. Shrugging it off, I ran back in case Fred decided to start the wild chase once more.
Hey!
I hope that was an enjoyable chapter, because I really enjoyed writing it! Let me know what you think!
Here's a question:
Who would you like to be best friends with at Hogwarts?
I would love to hang out with the Weasley Twins. They lighten you up in almost every dark time.
:)
