CHAPTER SIX:
A BLAST FROM THE PAST
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

Chaos erupts in the animal clinic as Derek, Stiles, and Elena all try holding down a squirming Brett, "What the hell is happening to this kid?" Stiles asked as Elena looks towards the werewolf shaking on the table with poison oozing from his mouth.

Deaton walked around the metal table as he stood next to Derek, "He's been poisoned by a rare wolfsbane. I need to make an incision and you need to hold him as still as possible." He said, with a scalpel in hand.

"Hey, Derek, how about a little werewolf strength?" Stiles suggested, motioning down towards Brett.

"Yeah, I'm not the only one here with werewolf strength," Derek argues with an annoyed look plastered over his face while the huntress rolled her eyes at the boys' pointless argument.

Deaton holds the scalpel over Brett, looking at the group who was trying to hold him down, "If you can't hold him still, the incision might kill him."

The vet begins lowering the scalpel inches away from the shaking werewolf's chest, "Derek, he's slipping. I don't think I can hold him." Stiles spoke as Brett's eyes opened revealing his golden orbs instead of his regular blue. He timidly looks up at the group towering over him before pushing them away, causing Elena to harshly hit the wall behind her.

Stiles kneels next to the brunette who was now slowly sitting up, rubbing the back of her head. He carefully helps the girl back up to her feet as Brett looks around for a nearby exit. However, what he did not expect was to find his face coming in contact with someone's fist, knocking him out cold. "I guess I still have a little werewolf strength myself," Peter said, flashing his cold icy blue eyes at the group before changing them back to normal.

"Yeah, maybe more than a little," Derek replied while looking at his uncle up and down as the older Hale gave him a smirk.

Snapping Elena back into her thoughts was Stiles as he announced, "Hey, Doc, I don't think he's breathing." The three immediately knelt as Deaton carefully sliced through his chest, getting the poison out of his system.

The huntress took the werewolf's hand in her's, admiring his features as he laid peacefully on the floor, "Is he okay?" She asked, turning her head towards Deaton.

Deaton looked at the worried brunette and gave her a reassuring nod, "I think he'll be fine, but probably out for a while."

"Guys, can you hear that? I think he's saying something," Stiles says as the three on the floor lean down to the mumbling werewolf below them.

"The sun... The moon... The truth..." He spoke, causing Elena to grow confused about what he meant.

Deaton leaned in closer to hear clearly as Brett repeated the saying over again. Once the werewolf was finished, Deaton sat up looking at the two teenagers who sat on the ground next to him, "Three things cannot long be hidden. The sun, the moon, and the truth." He turned towards Derek, "It's Buddhist."

Peter picked up his head as his nephew looked at him, "Satomi."

The animal shelter began to clear out as soon as the Hale's finished explaining who Satomi was. Stiles started packing up his lacrosse gear but stopped for a second as he looked towards Elena who was standing beside the unconscious werewolf, "Do you need a ride home?" He asks, zipping up his bag and throwing it over his shoulder.

She shakes her head, "No, I think I'm going to stay here until he wakes up." She responds, her gaze remaining on the boy who was peacefully laying on the metal table. Stiles nods and begins exiting the room but before he leaves, blood on the brunette's forehead catches his attention.

Elena notices his eyes lingering on her face, causing her to turn her head slightly, locking eyes with the Stilinski boy, "What?" She asks, clearly unaware of her injury from when she was previously thrown into the wall. She follows his gaze up to her forehead, gently bringing her hand onto the wound.

Stiles places his bag on the ground as he grabs his first aid kit, bringing it over to where the huntress was seated. The huntress moves her brunette hair to the side as Stiles opens the tiny box, revealing his neatly organized kit. He gently cleans the wound before pulling out a star wars band-aid, causing a small smile to form on Elena's lips from the boys' childishness.

"Thanks," She says after he places the star wars theme band-aid onto her wound. The boy nods in response, getting up from his spot and putting his things away again. "Stiles?" She asks, stopping the brunette in his tracks. "You're not as bad as I thought you'd be."

A low chuckle escapes from Stiles's lips as he shakes his head slightly, "And you're less intimidating with that on." He says, pointing his finger up to her forehead where the band-aid was placed. "Good night, Elena." The boy adds, turning away from the girl and leaving her and Deaton alone with the werewolf.

Elena helped Deaton clean up the mess Brett had previously made when trying to exit the Animal Clinic. The brunette finally managed to catch some sleep when she laid her head down on the metal table next to the beta's unconscious body.

The next morning, the brunette stirred awake in her seat as she felt movement beside her. She slowly opened her eyes, revealing Deaton taking a look at a now conscious Brett. "Look who's finally awake," The beta said, flashing a small smile towards a yawning Elena.

Ignoring his comment she stands up, looking at the working Veterinarian, "How is he?" She questions, concerned for the well-being of the werewolf who was now sitting up on the metal table.

Brett turned his head to the vet as well, waiting to know if he was out of the woods, "He's gonna be just fine." Deaton answers while placing his stethoscope around his neck. "You might feel a little sore, but that's normal considering you almost died." He adds as he pushes his cart out of the room, leaving the two teenagers alone.

The room fell silent, neither of them not knowing what to say to each other. Brett noticed the girl's bandage, "Did I do that?" He asked, motioning to the injury on her forehead. She nodded slowly in response, not making eye contact with the boy who was trying to read her facial expressions. "I'm sorry," He apologizes while shaking his head slowly as disappointment washes over him.

The huntress finally picks her head up, looking at the beta whose head was hanging low, "It wasn't your fault." She says, her eyes softening as she hesitantly places her hand on his. Brett flinched slightly at the girl's touch, not used to this sort of feeling that was consuming him.

Of course, girls had touched him before, but this felt different to the werewolf. It almost felt like there was some sort of energy between the two, and he hoped he wasn't the only one who felt it. "So that's why you weren't scared of Liam that one night out in the woods, it's because you're a werewolf." She states, snapping Brett out of his thoughts.

He nods, "Hope that's not a deal-breaker." The beta jokes, not knowing the girl he had grown a small connection with was someone who would normally hunt him down and kill him. Elena fiddled with her fingers, contemplating if she should tell him the truth about her and her family. However, just as she was about to speak another voice spoke up instead.

"Hey Elena, I brought you some fresh clothes!" Her brother shouted as he walked through the front door, looking down at the clean garments in his hands. Marcos picked his head up, finding his sight drawn to his sister's hand placed on top of the werewolf's, "I totally just interrupted something, didn't I?" He asks, glancing between the two as the huntress quickly pulls her hand back into her lap.

"No."

"Yes."

The two disagreed, causing a confused look to plaster all over Marcos's face. Elena walks over to her brother, grabbing her clothes out from his grasp, "I'm gonna go change." She says, looking between the two of them before walking into a closed-off room.

The beta looks over at the closed door where the huntress had just entered, his thoughts began to linger about her beautiful brown eyes she had that complimented her dark silky hair which fell nicely onto her shoulders with her usual nice beaming smile plastered on her face.

The blonde scratched the back of his neck as he pictured the girl's face in his mind. His adam's apple bobbed in the back of his throat while his hand scratched the back of his neck. The other Calavera looked up from his phone, watching Brett's action closely, "Keep it in your pants, wolf boy."

The beta snapped his head over to Marcos, "Oh, I promise that's not what I was thinking!" He exclaims while raising his hands in defense. "Of course your sister is hot, but I would never think of her like that!" He rambles as Marcos's eyes widen from how flustered the comment had made him.

The Calavera boy walked over towards Brett, patting his shoulder with one of his hands, "Relax dude, I was just messing with you."

"Oh, yeah I knew that," The blonde replied while he nodded slowly as the Calavera boy pulled his hand back down to his side with a small smile on his face from the boy's obvious lie. Marcos brought his phone to his face as the two waited for the brunette to come back in.

During the wait, the hunter's phone rang abruptly, "Heyo." The boy enthusiastically answered, his mood changing drastically as the person on the other line spoke. "What do you mean he was taken?" He questioned, causing Brett to look over at him with furrowed brows.

"What's wrong?" Elena asked, walking in through the doors and looking towards her brother as she adjusted her shirt.

Marcos took his phone down from his ear and turned back towards his sister, "Garrett has Liam."

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

The twins slowly walked down the aisle of buses as their eyes were glued on Scott and Garrett, watching to make sure the blonde wouldn't try anything, "Okay, what do you want? You want me to go to Stilinski? I can do that. Or I can talk to my father. He's an FBI agent." The alpha questioned, unsure of how they were supposed to secure Violet from police custody.

Garrett scoffed, "You think I want you talking to anyone with a badge? I'm not getting help from a werewolf because I want him to talk to someone."

Creeping up onto the boy's conversation are the twins as Elena asks, "So what's the plan?"

The blonde looks over to the twins as they stood on each side of the alpha with daggers shooting out of their eyes, "They are transferring Violet to a federal facility. You are not gonna let that happen." He stated, pointing his lacrosse stick towards Scott.

"How?" Scott asked as Elena bit the inside of her cheek, not liking where this plan was headed.

"They're going to put her in a car. We're going to follow it. We get ahead of it. You stop it." Garrett instructed, mainly towards the alpha.

Marcos scoffed as he rolled his eyes, "You want us, three barely passing students, to stop a federal van and help your little girlfriend escape?" He questions, clearly not at all confident the plan was going to work. The blonde nodded his head, causing Marcos to throw his hands up into the air while stepping back slowly, "It was nice knowing you, Liam."

The huntress quickly grabbed her brother's shoulders before he could get away and brought him back to where he originally stood, "Nice try." She whispers into his ear, making the hunter let out a deep sigh.

"So that's your plan?" Scott questioned, bringing the attention back onto the terrible plan Garrett had enforced.

"You're an Alpha and some werewolf hunters. If you can't stop one little car, then one little Beta is going to die." The blonde stated before bringing his lacrosse stick back up and pushing a button on it to allow the knife to be shown. "I stabbed your boy with a blade dipped in wolfsbane. Once it gets to the heart, bad things happen."

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

Scott, Elena, Marcos, and Garrett all sat in the car, waiting for the van to drive by. The alpha opens up a briefcase, revealing a single gun. Everyone eyes the alpha as he begins to shake his head, "This is not going to work."

The hunters from the back seat look towards each other as the blonde spoke, "All you have to do is stop the car. I'll take care of the rest." As soon as he finishes his sentence, the van drives past the group. Scott pulls his hoodie over his head as Garrett starts his engine to follow them. The alpha pulls his hood off from his head, making Elena turn her attention back to the two in the front seat, "There's a stop sign half a mile ahead." Garrett stated, concentrating on the road in front of them.

"So I take out the tires with my claws?" Scott asks, still clearly confused about what he was supposed to do to stop the van.

The blonde mentally rolls his eyes, "Teeth, claws, heat vision, whatever. Just stop them. You ready?" He asks, looking through the rearview mirror at the twins in the back seat who each had a weapon in their hands.

The four teenagers get closer to the van, but what they were met with was not what they expected at all, "Stop! Stop the car!" Scott yells, quickly unbuckling his seatbelt as Garrett slams down on the breaks. The alpha runs over to the tipped-over van with the twins not far behind, "Dad!" He shouts, seeing his father unconsciously laying on the ground with a severely injured Sheriff Stilinski.

The McCall boy kneels to the two adults while the twins stand behind, "Oh my god." Elena speaks, covering her mouth to the scene right in front of her. Marcos grabs her other hand with his, not wanting to ever feel this scared for his sister's life like Scott was for his father and Stiles's father at this moment.

The Sheriff rolls slightly onto his back, groaning in pain from his injuries, "Scott." He says as Garrett finally opens his car door, grabbing his lacrosse stick and walking towards the scene.

Scott turns back towards the blonde, "She's not in the car. Violet's gone." However, Garrett doesn't answer and keeps walking forward. The alpha grows confused, watching as the assassin twirls his stick around.

Taking their attention away from Garrett was the Sheriff as he takes ahold of the McCall boy's upper forearm, causing the three to look over at him, "Guys, listen to me. They're still here. They're still here."

Elena looks around her surroundings as she hears the familiar sound of those nasty Berserkers, "You've got to be kidding me." She mutters, remembering the last time she went against these things. Marcos pulls his gun out, positioning it at one of the Berserkers as the huntress does the same with her crossbow.

Garrett looks at the creature, "You want me? Come on, come and get me!" He shouts while moving closer to the Berserker while twirling his stick in front of the creature's face, "Yeah, that's right! You're not so big! You're not so big!" He yells out before another one comes running up behind, impaling him through the chest.

The huntress tries making her way over to Garrett but is shortly cut off by a Berserker, grabbing her forearm and throwing her against the van. The last thing she heard before passing out completely was her brother yelling out for her.

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

Elena's eyes slowly flutter open to the sound of her brother's voice, "Watch her head!" He exclaimed as he and Brett carried her out of the Animal Clinic and into the car. As soon as she realized what they were doing, she immediately closed her eyes.

"I'm trying!" Brett emphasized while he tried fitting her whole body through the small car door. The two finally managed to fit her in, fist-bumping once the job is done. Marcos and Brett turned to look at the supposedly sleeping girl, but their entire mood changed when they saw her sitting up, wide awake.

"I actually thought you wouldn't be able to do it," She told them with a small smile creeping up onto her lips.

Her brother took a deep breath before asking, "Were you awake the entire time?"

The brunette scoffed, "No ... only towards the end." She admitted as Brett accidentally let out a laugh escape from his lips, causing both of the Calavera's to look over at him.

"Sorry," He muttered, looking away from them both as the huntress grinned sheepishly.

"Where's Scott?" Elena questioned, trying to change the topic of this conversation after seeing no sign of the alpha since the last time they were with him.

"He left with Chris to go and find Violet," The Calavera boy stated before walking over to the other side of the car.

Brett walked towards the huntress, leaning down to see her whole face, "I never got the chance to say thank you for saving my life yesterday."

"It was nothing," She replied, shaking her head with a slight smile on her face. "Besides, if I didn't then you'd probably haunt me for the rest of my life."

The beta grinned, "Probably." He moved his hand towards the girl's shoulder, patting it gently, "Good night Elena."

"Good night," She responded as the beta closed the door to her car door, moving out of the way to let the twins roll out of the parking lot.

As they drove away, Marcos looked over to his sister whose eyes were glued on the rearview mirror as she watched the werewolf slowly fade away into the distance, "You need to tell him." He spoke, referring to their werewolf hunting family who lives down in Mexico.

She sighed slightly, turning her eyesight towards the road ahead of them, "I know."

Once the Calavera twins pulled up to their apartment shortly after leaving the Animal Clinic, Marcos twists his key in the keyhole, turning it and waiting to hear the click. Once he did, he pulled the key out from its placement inside the hole. He pushes the door open as his phone vibrates in his pocket. He reaches down inside his pocket, checking the notification from his phone, "It's Scott. He found Liam." He told his sister who sighed in relief that the boy was alright.

"Good," She replied, following him inside the apartment. Marcos stopped in front of the door, his eyes glued to something in the room. Elena's gaze fell onto where her brother was staring. On their couch was s stranger who was sitting down, looking straight ahead. She glanced over to her brother who was making his way for the light switch, flipping it upwards to turn on the lights. As soon as the lights hit the stranger's face, the Calavera's could see who it was.

"Abuela?" Marcos asked, stepping forward as her head spun in the twins' direction, making eye contact with Elena as she spoke.

"I think it's time we have a little chat."
