CHAPTER FOURTEEN:
BRETT'S COMPETITION
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
As soon as the twins got to school, they are met with Malia and Stiles who stood at the front of the building, waiting for their arrival, "So, what did we miss?" Marcos asks, slightly joking since they all had just seen not too long ago.
"Deaton found out that the creature's claws from last night are actually talons of a harpy eagle, so he believes that someone could be trying to change the rules of the supernatural," Stiles informs the Calavera's, causing Marcos to lean into his sister's ear.
"I swear I was totally kidding about missing something," He whispers, making Elena smile at his comment as the werecoyote begins to speak.
"Stiles also ran a background check on Theo, and all he found was a speeding ticket." She adds, catching the huntress's attention and turning her head towards the Stilinski boy.
"It was a speeding ticket signed by Theo's dad eight years ago," He corrects, using his hands to emphasize the importance of his findings.
Elena nods at the boy's discovery, "Which means what?" She asks, unsure of what the human boy was supposed to be getting at.
"Who speeds?" He questions, shrugging his shoulders slightly before he continues. "People trying to get away from something."
Marcos laughs at the boy's explanation, "How many tickets do you have?" He asks, causing the Stilinski boy to roll his eyes.
"None," He answers, making the Calavera boy furrow his brows to signal he didn't believe his answer.
"How many would you have if your dad didn't get you out of them?" Malia rephrases the question, trying to get the actual answer from her boyfriend.
"Seventeen," He says, causing the rest of the group to give him mixed looks of surprise and disappointment.
Stiles puts his head down to avoid holding eye contact with any of them, "I don't know, Stiles. I mean, I see why you're worried. He's really hot. He's got like great hair, perfect body. You should definitely feel threatened." Malia tells him while Marcos nods in agreement as she spoke.
"Thank you, because I do," Stiles says, putting his hands in the air before continuing, "Now more than ever."
"You want us to torture him." Malia asks, throwing her arm over Elena's shoulder.
Stiles shakes his head, looking around at all of the other students before responding, "No, I don't want you guys to torture him."
"I'm pretty sure we can take him," Elena adds, a smirk on her and Malia's face.
Stiles shakes his head before responding, "I have a plan, alright? And there are steps to doing this right."
"What steps?" Malia asks, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion while the twins look at one another, waiting to hear the Stilinski's plan.
"We get the story. Verify the facts. We find the piece that doesn't fit, and catch him in the act. That's how you do it," Stiles explains, looking into the distance which catches the attention of the group, causing them to see Theo Raeken getting out of his car.
Elena offers the boy a small smile which causes the boy to return the gesture with a small wave and smile, "Looks like Brett's got some competition." Marcos whispers, only loud enough for his sister to hear.
The huntress rolls her eyes at her brother's comment while Malia speaks up, "Why are you so suspicious of this guy?" She questions, making Elena look at Stiles, curious for his answer.
"Because I remember Theo from fourth grade, okay?" He begins before looking at the boy who was walking up towards the school from where he was just dropped off, "That's not Theo."
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
The school bell loudly rings, signaling that classes were about to begin. Elena quickly says goodbye to her friends and brother before rushing off to her first class of the day, AP Biology. She walks into the classroom and sits next to Lydia while Kira sits on the other side of them. All three of them begin to get their textbooks out before looking up to see Scott McCall enter the room, taking a seat next to his girlfriend.
Elena furrows her eyebrows as she looks at Kira and Lydia in which they return the same expression, confused on if the true alpha knew where he was. The banshee motions for the kitsune to speak up, causing her to shake her head no. However, the strawberry blonde can be quite convincing, "Scott, are you in the right class?"
"AP Biology," He replies, looking his girlfriend in the eyes as he answers her.
"Do you know what AP stands for?" Lydia chimes in, making Scott laugh at her question before responding.
"Advanced placement," He says, opening his textbook to reveal the notes he had written and the sentences he had highlighted.
The huntress leans into the strawberry blonde's ear, whispering as she spoke, "At least he isn't lost this time." She says, remembering the time Scott had accidentally walked into her AP History class last year.
Lydia laughs at the girl's comment before the teacher walks into the classroom, "Welcome to AP Biology. Let's see who's awake. Can somebody tell me what plasmids are?"
"Circular, self-replicating DNA molecules often used in cloning proteins," Elena answers, earning a proud smile from Lydia since the Martin girl had tutored the huntress all last year, so she was caught up in her studies with the other students.
The teacher, Mrs.Finch, nods, "Nicely stated Elena. Now, can you tell me what vitamin is absorbed in the stomach through parietal cell production of a glycoprotein." She asks, causing many students jaws to drop while other's eyes went wide. "B-12," Mrs. Finch answers for the class, her eyes scanning the classroom before landing on Scott, "Mr. McCall, did you know the answer?"
The true alpha shakes his head, "Um no." He answers honestly.
"It's a common test question. What's your number one college pick?" She questions, trying to get knowledge on why the McCall boy was in her class.
"Um," Scott begins to answer before he is interrupted.
"Stop saying um," Mrs.Finch tells him, making Scott shake his head.
"Sorry, UC Davis." He says, causing Mrs.Finch to nod her head slowly.
"Good choice. It's the best school on the West Coast for biological and physical sciences. You're in the right class if that's what you're hoping for. Who else thinks they're in the right class?" She asks, making the students look around at one another before everyone began raising their hands.
Elena scans the rest of the classroom, her eyes landing upon a familiar pair of blue eyes, Theo Raeken. The Raeken boy smiles at the Calavera girl, causing her to return the gesture and quickly turn back around in her seat. Elena didn't know why, but she felt as though she had already met the Raeken boy. Something about his blue eyes seemed awfully familiar, making the Calavera girl confused on where she could've possibly met him before. And she was going to do everything in her power to find out who Theo Raeken is.
"Good, then you should all be prepared for the test tomorrow," Mrs.Finch announces, snapping Elena out of her thoughts as the rest of the class groans in frustration. "Don't be so disappointed. This test is specifically to help you determine whether you should actually be in AP Biology. You have two weeks to drop. Tomorrow's test will just weed out the ones who shouldn't be here, and that could be any of you." She says, looking at Scott as she finishes her speech.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
After class, Scott and Elena went outside to get some fresh air since they had a free period until there next class, "Are you worried about tomorrow's test?" The huntress asks, feeling the anxiety radiating from the McCall boy. The alpha nods, causing the Calavera girl to place her hand on his shoulder, "Wanna meet up with Marcos, Kira and Malia during study hall to study for it?"
Scott turns his head to look at the huntress, a soft smile on his lips, "Yeah, I could use all the help I can get." He says, making Elena laugh as she retracts her hand from his shoulder. "Wanna go get lunch?" He questions, but before the Calavera girl can reply, Stiles comes running over to them.
"Hey! You guys, you're coming with me. Come on," He tells the two, causing Scott to furrow his eyebrows and look over at Elena who had the same look on her face as well.
"We've got a free period," The McCall boy says, pointing at himself and the Calavera girl as he spoke.
The Stilinski boy nods, "So do I, and so does Theo Raeken. So let's go." He instructs, grabbing the huntress's backpack and offering a hand to stand while Scott gathers the rest of his things. Elena knew Stiles's heart was in the right place when wanting to figure out who Theo was, so she gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to trust the boy's instincts.
Elena stands next to Stiles as Scott approaches the Raeken boy who was currently getting books out of from his locker, "Hey, can we talk?" The McCall boy asks, causing Theo to look up and over the alpha's shoulder and towards his two friends who stood at the opposite end of the hall.
"Yeah," Theo says, shutting his locker and looking back at the alpha.
The four of them end up in the locker room, listening to the Raeken boy's story about how he became a werewolf. "I was skating in a neighbor's empty pool, trying to do a handplant. Nobody was home. I'm not that good of a skateboarder, but I guess I was feeling pretty determined because I completely lost track of time. I didn't even realize that it was night until the yard lights came on. Like I said, I wasn't very good. On my last try, I went down and hit hard, really hard. I was sitting there at the bottom of the pool and I realized something. I never heard the board come back down. It came at me fast. I barely had a chance to turn around before it bit me. Right here." He says, slightly lifting up his shirt to show them where he was bit. Elena swallows the lump in the back of her throat as she stares at the boy's abs which causes the McCall boy to look in her direction as Theo gives her a smirk after hearing her heartbeat increase.
"It wasn't an accident, he wanted to turn you," Scott tells him, diverting the attention away from the huntress.
"Right, so why aren't you part of his pack then? Why didn't he come back for you?" The Stilinski boy asks, a skeptical look on his face as he tries to catch the Raeken boy in a lie.
"Because by the time of my first full moon, he was dead," Theo informs them, causing Stiles to raise an eyebrow.
"How did you know that?" He questions back, his tone full of suspicion.
"I met another one of his pack a couple weeks later. He told me the alpha that bit me was killed by two of his own betas. They were twins." He tells them, sighing before he continues, "Scott, listen to my pulse. I'm telling you the truth."
Stiles laughs slightly, "Right, or you just know how to steady your own heart rate while you're lying your ass off.
Theo turns his head to look at the human boy, furrowing his eyebrows as he spoke, "Why would I lie?"
"Because maybe you're not who you say you are," Stiles says, shrugging his shoulders as Elena looks at Theo, trying to read his facial expressions when the Stilinski boy spoke.
Theo turns his head back towards Scott, "Okay, in fourth grade, you had an inhaler. I had one too. I remember this day where I ended up in the nurse's office with an asthma attack, a bad one. I was waiting to be taken to the ER, and you were waiting for the principal. You told me what would happen when you go to the ER for asthma, how they give you oxygen, and IV of prednisone. You made it sound easy, like everything would be okay." He finishes, still receiving a skeptical look from Stiles but this time he earned a sympathetic look from Scott and Elena.
"I've been by myself this whole time. Everybody knows that lone wolves, they don't make it on their own." The huntress nods at the Raeken boy's statement, knowing he was right about that. Many of the lone wolves she came across always died, whether it was at the hands of a hunter or another werewolf, the omega's never survive.
"I swear, I'm that same kid from fourth grade. I was hoping you are too." He finishes, looking at the McCall boy with a pleading look on his face. However, before anyone can say anything else the bell rings, "I better not be late for class. You're not the only ones I need to make a good impression on." Theo tells them, slinging his backpack over his shoulder and exiting the locker room.
Stiles walks closer to Elena and Scott as the McCall boy puts his backpack on, giving Stiles a knowing look, "No, don't give me that look." He tells his best friend, putting his backpack on as well.
"We have to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes," Scott says before looking over at the huntress. "You were wrong about Elena at the beginning, remember?" He reminds him, causing the Calavera girl to nod, remembering how her and Stiles didn't get along when they first met.
The Stilinski boy shakes his head, "Not this time, alright? I'm right. There's something off about him, I can feel it."
"Lydia's the psychic, not you." Scott tells him, walking out of the locker room with Elena not too far behind.
Stiles scoffs before yelling at his two friends as they exit the room, "Lydia's not a psychic, she's a banshee, okay? There's a difference."
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
After the talk with Theo, Scott and Elena met up with Malia, Marcos, and Kira to study in the library during study hall, "Okay, so what's the primary function of red blood cells in the human body?" The huntress asks the McCall boy, her textbook open in front of her as she quizzes the alpha.
Scott closes his eyes, trying to remember the answer, "The primary function is," He pauses before taking a deep breath, "To transport oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues and carry carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs." He finishes, a proud smile on Kira, Elena, and his face.
"See, you're totally ready for tomorrow," The Calavera girl tells him, closing her textbook and looking at the McCall boy.
However, before he can respond, Stiles comes over to the group, placing two pieces of paper down on the table in front of them, "So, you found something?" Scott asks as the rest of the group inspects the paper he is showing them.
"Another signature," The Stilinski boy says before pointing down at one of the paper's, "This is Theo's dad's signature on a speeding ticket from eight years ago." He pauses, moving his hand to the other paper he had, "Now, this is his dad's signature on a transfer form to Beacon Hills High School from just a few days ago."
"How did you get his transfer form?" Kira questions, earning looks from the rest of the group, all of them wondering the same thing.
Scott looks up towards his best friend, "Did you break into the Administration Office?"
"No, I did not break into the Administration Office." He answers, causing the group to give him looks on how they obviously did not believe him. "Okay, I might've broken into the Administration Office. Can we just focus on the signatures, please? They're different."
Elena nods, "Yeah, okay, they're different." She says, earning looks from the rest of the group, none of them seeing anything.
"They are?" Malia asks, squinting her eyes to try and spot the difference her boyfriend and best friend were talking about.
"They're completely different, look," Stiles begins, pointing down at the signatures before speaking, "The garlands don't even match, the undulations of the sinuous stroke are totally off. And look, look at this. Perfect example of the Criminal Tremor." He finishes, the huntress nodding in agreement after hearing his explanation.
"So now, Theo is Theo, but his parents aren't his parents?" Kira questions, causing the Stilinski boy to shake his head.
"Someone's not someone, and when I figure out who that someone really is, someone's in big trouble," He informs them, making Scott furrow his eyebrows.
"But no one's done anything wrong," The true alpha states, making the human boy roll his eyes.
"Yet," He corrects, sticking his finger out at the group before he continues. "If Theo's parents are both psychotic killers, then obviously, we should not trust him, right?"
"My parents are Peter and the Desert Wolf," The werecoyote adds, causing Marcos to speak up.
"And ours are werewolf hunters," He says, pointing towards himself and Elena which causes Scott to look at his best friend.
Stiles rubs his hand over his face as he sighs, "Okay, it's fine. You know what, I'll just borrow Elena, and we will figure this out ourselves, alright?" He tells them, grabbing the Calavera girl's bag before pointing at the rest of the group individually. "I don't need you, or you, or you, or you. I don't need anyone besides her," He finishes, pulling Elena with him and dragging her towards the parking lot where his jeep was parked.
The Stilinski boy turns his car keys as Elena sits down in the passenger seat. A voice startling her from the backseat as she got in, "What's a Criminal Tremor?" Liam asks, sticking his head in between the two and holding up the papers of Theo's dad's signature.
Stiles snatches the papers from the beta's hand, "It doesn't matter." He tells him before putting the car in reverse and backing it out of the parking space.
"Do you even have a plan?" Elena asks, turning her head to look at the Stilinski boy.
"Nope," He answers honestly, earning a small laugh from the huntress as he drives down the roads of Beacon Hills.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
The three teenagers hide in the bushes as Theo Raeken gets out from his car and walks over towards his trunk to grab something. "I told you he was up to something," Stiles tells them, looking between the Raeken boy and Liam.
"We just spent three hours watching this dude play video games in his bedroom. He better be out here covering up a mass murder," Liam comments, earning a nod from Elena as her stomach growls since the girl was forced to skip lunch due to the stakeout.
"Let's find out," The Stilinski boy says, making the group come out from their hiding place to follow Theo.
Elena scans the woods, studying everything around her as they approach the Raeken boy. She was careful not to make a sound, her previous werewolf hunting training coming into hand at the moment while she follows the footprints on the ground.
"You still got his scent?" Stiles asks the beta, who was leading the group.
Liam shakes his head as he looks down at the ground, "Don't need it."
The beta comes to an unexpected stop, scratching at the back of his neck which catches Elena's attention, "What's wrong?" She asks, causing Stiles to turn back around and see what the hold up is.
"I forgot, I was supposed to meet Mason at the school gym," He answers, looking at the ground in disappointment.
"Okay, why didn't you just tell him?" Stiles questions, making the Dunbar boy look up at the human boy with furrowed brows.
"Tell him what?" He questions back, unsure of what the Stilinski boy was going to say.
Stiles shrugs, "Anything."
"I can't just tell him anything," Liam says, slightly offended the Stilinski boy would suggest that.
"Why not?" Stiles asks, making Elena look at the Dunbar boy, waiting for his answer.
"Because I haven't," He begins, avoiding eye contact with the older teenagers before continuing, "I haven't told him everything."
"Still? We said it was okay," The human boy reminds him, causing the Calavera girl to nod.
Liam looks back at his friends, "Yeah I know but it's not that easy. It's a lot to accept." He tells them, making the huntress feel some type of sympathy for the beta.
"He watched my dad blow up a Berserker with a land mine. I think the groundwork's been pretty thoroughly laid for acceptance. Scott and I, we've been through this, okay?" Stiles says,
Elena puts her hand on the Dunbar's shoulder, giving it a comfortable squeeze before adding, "It is always better when they know."
Liam nods as the group continues their journey through the woods to find where Theo went, "But what if he freaks out? What if he doesn't wanna talk to me? What if he tries to stab me with something silver? Or what if-." A loud thud causes Elena and Stiles to stop in their tracks and turn around to see what had happened.
They come across a hole in the ground where the beta must have fell in, "What the hell are you doing?" Stiles asks, throwing his arms in the air as a sign of clear frustration. Liam furrows his brows, confused on how this was his fault. However, before he can say anything, the human boy notices something in the distance, "There he is, hurry up. Stop screwing around." He tells the Dunbar boy, making Elena roll her eyes as the Stilinski boy walks away.
She kneels down, offering the sophomore a hand to help him get out of the hole which he happily accepts. Once he was back up, he has a look of remembrance on his face, catching the Calavera girl's attention, "What is it?"
Liam shakes his head, "Nothing. We better get going, or Stiles is gonna kill us." He says, walking in the direction the Stilinski boy had just wandered off to.
The two find Stiles hiding behind a tree and some bushes, "Try and get his scent." He instructs the beta as the group watches Theo stand alone at a bridge, "Get anything?"
"Soap, it's nice. It smells good," Liam responds, making the huntress smile at his findings.
Stiles shakes his head, "Not his soap, his emotional state. Chemosignals, remember?"
"Oh, yeah, okay," Liam says before attempting to try again. The Dunbar boy furrows his brows, "He's sad."
"He's sad?" Elena questions, confused on why the suspicious teenager was all alone at the bridge and feeling sad.
The beta nods, "Well, not just sad. It's actually more like grief."
Stiles furrows his eyebrows as Elena watches Theo drop a white flower into the water, "Grief?" He questions which earns a nod from Liam in response. "Oh my god," The Stilinski boy exclaims, causing the huntress to look in his direction. However, before she can say anything, the human boy immediately grabs her hand and pulls her and Liam away from the scene, "Go, we have to go."
"What? Why?" Elena asks, taking her hand back from Stiles as the group continues walking back towards the jeep.
The Stilinski boy sighs, "That's the bridge where they found his sister." He informs them, making Liam furrow his brows as Elena looks at the human boy in the eyes.
"What sister?" She questions back, unaware that the Raeken boy had a sibling.
"The one that got lost and died from exposure. He's leaving a flower for her," Stiles informs the two, making the huntress feel a bit of sympathy for the Raeken boy.
"Well, that doesn't sound evil," Liam comments, snapping Elena back into the conversation as she nods in agreement with the beta.
Stiles sighs, "I know." He mumbles, disappointed in himself for possibly being wrong about Theo.
But before anyone can say anything else, the three teenagers come to a halt when they look up to see none other than, Theo Raeken, standing on top of a large tree branch, looking down at them. The Raeken boy jumps down, landing in front of the trio as he slowly lifts his head up, "What're you guys doing?" He asks, walking closer towards the group which causes the beta to protectively step in front of Elena and Stiles. "Whoa, why do I get the feeling this kid's tougher than he looks?" He says, putting his hands up in the air while holding eye contact with the huntress as he spoke.
"Only when we let him off his leash," Stiles tells him, pulling Liam back and signaling him to stand down.
Theo sighs, "Stiles, we were in Little League together. Why are you so suspicious of me?" He asks, making the Stilinski boy shake his head while he pulls out the papers from his pocket and handing them to Theo.
"Because of these," The Raeken boy opens the folded paper and begins to look them over. "One's a speeding ticket signed by your dad eight years ago. The other one's a signature on a transfer form to Beacon High. They're different." Stiles tells him, causing the Calavera girl to try and read Theo's facial expressions.
The Raeken boy bit the inside of his cheek, "Huh. Yeah, they do look a little different."
Stiles shakes his head, "No, they're totally different. Signed by two different people."
"So my dad's not my dad? Like he's an imposter?" Theo asks, a hint of sarcasm in his voice as he spoke.
However, what he didn't expect was for the Dunbar boy to speak up and agree with his question, "Yeah, something like that."
"Who do you think I am?" The Raeken boy questions, looking at Stiles as he spoke.
The Stilinski boy shrugs, "We don't know yet."
"Want me to give you a DNA sample or something?" Theo offers, causing Stiles to roll his eyes at his lame attempt at trying to be helpful.
"No, I don't have anything from fourth grade to match it to," He tells him, making the huntress smile at his sassy remark.
Theo sighs, "You know, Stiles, I came back here for Scott, but I also came back for you. Someone like you. Someone who's willing to walk into the woods in the middle of the night to protect his friends. I don't have anyone like that, but Scott does. You all do." He pauses, looking at the trio when he said that last part. "I know I'm in the right place. I'm meant to be here. I'm meant to be apart of this pack." He finishes, causing a ton of mixed emotions to flood Elena's mind, the main one being sympathy.
The Calavera makes a rash decision and pulls out a pen and rips the corner of one of the paper's Stiles had bought and quickly writes her phone number down. And before the Raeken boy has a chance to walk away, Elena grabs his hand to stop him in place. He slowly turns around, making eye contact with the huntress as she hands him the slip of paper, "You know, if you need someone to talk to." She tells him as Theo puts the slip into his pocket, an expression forms on his face that was unreadable to the Calavera girl and the two boys behind her.
"I might take you up on that," Theo tells her before walking away from the group and back into the woods.
Elena turns back around, getting looks from both Liam and Stiles, "What? Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." She explains, making the two boy's shake their heads like disapproving brother's, not believing a word she just said. And quite frankly, neither did she.
Once the three teenagers made it back to Stiles's jeep, they were met with Scott McCall who stood against his bike like he had been waiting there for sometime, "Find anything?"
The Stilinski boy shakes his head, "Nope."
"I fell in a hole," Liam tells the true alpha, shrugging his shoulders as he spoke with a small smile on his lips, amused by his statement. Elena laughs at the beta as she walks over towards the jeep and opens the passenger door to get in.
The Stilinski boy gets into the car as well, shutting the driver side door, causing Scott to walk up to his window, "It was the bridge where his sister died, wasn't it?"
"Yes, it was. Very embarrassing. So, we are gonna leave now," Stiles tells him before turning the key to try and start his car. However, the engine has different plans when it starts sputtering. "Son of a," He mumbles, putting a hand over his face clearly frustrated by this whole situation. "Liam, just do me a favor, get in the car and turn the ignition when I say." He instructs the beta while getting out of the car and walking over to the hood of his jeep.
The Dunbar boy nods, hopping into the front seat as Scott and Stiles lift the hood to see what was going on. "Stiles?" Scott questions as the Stilinski boy starts to mess with the different parts under the hood.
"Be with you in a sec, try it," The human boy says, causing Liam to turn the keys and hear the same sputtering sound from before.
"Stiles," The McCall boy says sternly, wanting to talk to his best friend about the situation which cause the Stilinski boy to turn his head to look at the true alpha.
"Yes, okay. We followed him out here. What do you want me to say? That I'm a stalker, huh? That I'm crazy, totally paranoid? None of this is new information," Stiles tells him before turning his attention back towards the engine below him.
Scott sighs, trying to reason with his best friend, "Now, you're gonna try to at least give him the benefit of the doubt?"
The Stilinski boy rolls his eyes and quickly turns his head to look over at the McCall boy, "I give people the benefit of the doubt. I've given a lot of benefit to a lot of people." He finishes, earning a nod from Scott as the human boy begins working on the jeep again.
"Like Derek? Kira? Elena? Liam?" The alpha lists off, causing an uneasy feeling to erupt in the Calavera girl's stomach.
"I was right about Peter, try it again," Stiles says, the last part of his sentence being directed towards Liam. The engine still only sputtering, causing the Stilinski boy to grow even more frustrated as he rocks on the heels of his feet before turning towards Scott, "You know, I bet you still think that there's something about him that can be saved."
The McCall boy shrugs, "Maybe."
Stiles rolls his eyes and lets out a frustrated breath before working on his jeep again, "Try it again." Liam does as he's told, turning the key once more to hear the same sound from before.
"Why can't you trust anyone?" Scott questions, causing the huntress to look at the pair with worried eyes.
Stiles angrily turns around, "Because you trust everyone!" He shouts before turning back around to punch his jeep in anger and frustration. Elena immediately gets out of the car as Liam jumps back in his seat.
The huntress quickly walks over towards the human boy, "Are you okay?" She asks, putting a hand on his shoulder to try and comfort him.
"I'm fine," He tells her, making the Calavera girl slowly retract her arm.
Scott steps forward, a hint of worry laced into his voice, "You could've broken it."
"It's not broken," Stiles says, shaking his head as he lifts up his hand.
"Let me see it," The McCall boy instructs, inching closer to his best friend.
Stiles sighs, "I'm fine."
"Just let him see your hand," Elena strictly says, tired of the bickering she had just witnessed and wanting to make sure Stiles was okay. Stiles looks at the huntress before nodding and slowly handing Scott his arm.
The McCall boy carefully takes a hold of his best friend's hand as black veins begin to form on the alpha's arm. Scott inhales sharply as Stiles watches him closely, amazement on his face at how the pain was gone. Once Scott was done, the human boy inspects his hand before looking at the boy by his side who was already staring back at him.
Elena knew things were getting complicated with Theo trying to join the pack. She also knew that Stiles and Scott rarely had fights like this, sure the two would occasionally have disagreements, but none that happened like the one she had just witnessed.
After Mexico, the huntress knew she would side with the group through anything, they were her new family. But when that family's split, who do you side with? Snapping Elena out of her thoughts is the engine finally turning on. A small smile falls onto her lips as she heads back over to the passengers side, ready to go home.
