CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE:
HARBINGER OF CHAOS

Elena runs through the front outside entrance of Beacon Hills High School, her eyes glowing red as she searches for the Beast of Gévaudan. The Calavera girl comes to a sudden stop when she runs into Tracy and Theo, "Did you see it?" The Stewart girl questions, earning a head-shake from the huntress while the Raeken boy looks out into the distance.

"It was too fast," He mumbles, creating fear and chills amongst the three of them as they wonder what this thing was capable of doing.

Tracy steps forward, catching Elena's attention once the Stewart girl spoke again, "But it's here?"

Theo slowly nods, "Yeah, so keep your distance and stay behind me." He tells them, his eyes mainly focusing on the Calavera girl. The Raeken boy turns his head to look back into the distance, "We're not trying to catch it, not yet." He reminds them, their heads snapping in the direction of the Beast roaring in the school.

The three Chimera's rush into the school, their eyes scanning for the Beast throughout the halls. However, the Raeken boy comes to a stop, noticing something strange and different with the lockers in front of them. He glows his eyes, reading the same words Scott and Stiles had previously found, Damnatio Memoriae.

"It's the same message, isn't it?" Elena questions, noticing Theo slowly place a hand onto his forehead, clearly stressing out about this entire situation. "What are they trying to tell it?"

The Raeken boy turns around to face the huntress, "They're trying to get it to remember who it was."

"But isn't it just a teenager like us?" Tracy asks, stepping next to the Calavera girl and motioning towards all of them before adding, "Isn't it just a kid underneath?"

Theo shrugs slightly, "They don't care about that. The Doctors, they needed a body because they couldn't resurrect the Beast out of thin air. That kid underneath, whoever it is, just a side effect." He pauses, looking down at his shoes before picking his head up to glance towards Elena, "All the Doctors care about is the Beast and the Scarlet Witch."

"So what happens if it does remember?" The Calavera girl asks, not a single worry about the Dread Doctors in her mind, all she wanted to do was focus on stopping the Beast so he didn't end up dead yet again.

The Raeken boy shakes his head, "I'm not sure but most likely nothing good. The thing probably doesn't even know it turns back to human during the day."

The group falls silent before Tracy speaks up, "I read that the Beast of Gévaudan and the Scarlet Witch killed 113 people." She announces, pausing as both girl's look over at Theo, "Is that true?" She finishes, earning a small smile from Theo before he spoke.

"No," He tells them, earning a sigh of relief from the Stewart girl. However, it was quickly replaced when the Raeken boy decides to continue speaking, "The Doctors told me it was closer to 500."

Elena's head slowly turns her head, a feeling creeping down the girl's spine as she focuses her hearing on the familiar mechanical sound of the Dread Doctors. Tracy steps forward, her claws ready to attack as the lights in the hallway turn off. Theo looks back at the huntress, motioning for her to follow and stay behind him.

Out of nowhere, a Dread Doctor appears and causes the Stewart girl to swing at the man at an attempt of attack. However, it quickly backfires when she is flung across the room, hitting her head so hard that it knocks her out. Another Dread Doctor appears, walking closer towards Elena and Theo, "Leave."

Theo steps closer towards the Doctor who spoke, disregarding his warning, "Where is it?" He asks, causing Elena to glance at each one of them.

"You already have your pack," The Dread Doctor motions towards the Calavera girl and the Stewart girl who was lying on the floor.

The Raeken boy slowly shakes his head, "It wasn't enough. Look at my eyes." He tells them, shining his golden eyes at the Doctors before continuing, "They look red to you? I'm not an Alpha. I'm not even a real werewolf." Out of the corner of Elena's eye, she sees a large monster slowly heading towards them.

Tracy crawls backwards on the floor, fear clearly written on her face while Theo puts an arm out in front of the huntress as they slowly move backwards to get away from the Beast. The Dread Doctors disappear, leaving the three teenagers alone with the monster.

The Beast holds up a head that was ripped from someone's body, earning wide eyes from the trio as it inches closer to them. Elena's eyes change red as her hands illuminate with the same color while she waves them in front of the monster. The Beast cocks its head to the side, looking directly at the Calavera girl, the creature's eyes focusing on her like he had seen her before.

The Beast quickly looks away and lets out an ear deafening roar, causing the three teenagers to cover their ears while the lockers beside them begin to rattle due to the sound. After a few minutes, the roar comes to a stop and when the trio looks back up, the Beast was gone. "Well, isn't that just great?" Elena mutters, looking into the distance of where the creature was last seen.

A soft knock appears on Elena's bedroom window, a sigh escaping from the girl's mouth before getting up to open it. The brunette rolls her eyes after seeing who it is, "What do you want?" She questions, walking back to sit back down on her bed while Theo shuts the window and copies her actions as he holds up a book in hand.

"I found all of these in The Dread Doctors lair, and I want to see if there is anything in these books that will tell us anything about The Beast or about you, The Scarlet Witch," He tells her, sitting in front of her and placing the books down all over her bed.

Both teenagers pick up a book, and begin reading through them, both of them desperate to figure out how the two creatures were important to the Dread Doctors. The Calavera girl furrows her eyebrows as her eyes continue reading each word on the page.

However, after a while of reading the two of them knew that they were unsuccessful. They ended up finding nothing out about both supernatural beings. It was as though the two supernatural beings had never existed. The huntress sighs, running a hand through her hair which catches the Raeken boy's attention almost instantly, "Maybe we should take a break." He suggests, earning a nod from the Calavera girl in response.

"What if the only person who knows anything about The Scarlet Witch is the same person who turned me into her?" Elena asks, an idea popping into the girl's head which earns a nod from the Raeken boy.

"Your mom," He mumbles, causing Elena to slowly nod before turning her head to look at the Raeken boy, not expecting him to be sitting so close to her side. Her eyes glance down to his lips as he does the same. Theo slowly leans in, wanting to close the distance between them and he does. Elena's eyes shut as the kiss between the two of them heats up into something more.

However, during their little makeout session, a few vivid images flash into her mind, images of Elena kissing someone else, someone that Elena had remembered seeing a couple days ago when she was with Hayden at the Nemeton. The girl instantly pulls away, causing the Raeken boy to immediately open his eyes, "You okay?" He asks, watching her facial features change into realization.

But the Calavera girl just shakes it off and presses her lips against Theo's again. Both of them returning to what they were doing as if nothing had happened. Elena pulls back, pointing at the Raeken boy to catch her breath, "This doesn't mean anything by the way."

Theo nods and places his lips back onto hers, deepening the kiss once again. She pulls him closer by wrapping her arms around his neck which cause the Raeken boy to smirk throughout the kiss. Elena pushes the books off of the bed and lies her back down onto the bed with the Raeken boy hovering over her.

The kiss was full of desire and lust, both of them wanting more from one another as they continue. Theo moves his attention from the girl's lips towards her neck, earning sounds of pleasure from the Calavera girl as he did so.

Just as the Raeken boy was about to remove his shirt, her bedroom door opens to reveal her older sister standing in the doorway, "What is he doing here?" Adriana asks, her eyes scanning over the Raeken boy who just chuckles softly as Elena pushes him off of her.

The huntress closes the book and carefully slides it back towards Theo so her sister can't see it, "We were just studying. We have a Biology exam coming up." She lies, earning an unconvincing nod from the alpha as she listens to both teenagers heartbeats.

"Right, well it's getting late," Adriana announces, causing Theo to slightly smirk before standing up and walking towards the door. However, he is quickly stopped by Adriana, "You can go out the same way you came in." She tells him, earning a low chuckle from the Raeken boy as he shakes his head slowly.

Theo makes his way towards the bedroom window, opening it and then turning back around to look at the huntress, "I'll see you later." He tells her, causing the girl to give him a tight lipped smile with a thumbs up which was all he needed to leave the Calavera girl's in peace.

Theo and Elena enter the Animal Clinic, both of them standing in the doorway as they watch Malia rummage through Deaton's belongings, "Can't find him, can you? Probably don't even know where to start." Theo announces, making the werecoyote slowly turn around to face them.

The huntress smirks slightly when she makes eye contact with the Tate girl. Malia had heard that Elena was alive, but seeing her now was like a bullet in the chest. Because deep down, the Tate girl knew that she wasn't the same girl from before. The Calavera girl offers a slow wave while the Raeken boy continues talking, "You're not gonna find him. Let's be honest, he's probably already dead. I wonder what's gonna happen when Scott realizes that it's your fault."

As soon as those words left Theo's mouth, Malia charges at the Chimera, immediately throwing him to the other side of the room. Elena laughs slightly, watching the werecoyote hold the Raeken boy by his neck, "I should kill you." The Tate girl tells him after punching him in the face.

Theo smirks before cocking his head to the side, "Yeah, but you won't. You like me too much." He confidently replies, earning another punch to his face from Malia. The Calavera girl stands in the doorway, letting the werecoyote slam him down onto the metal table before snapping his arm.

Theo groans in pain while the Tate girl climbs on top of him, straddling the Raeken boy and punching him in the face over and over again. The Chimera lets out a laugh while Elena uses her powers to take the werecoyote off of him. The Raeken boy wipes the blood off his nose before turning towards the Tate girl, "I let Stiles kick my ass, too. He never broke any bones." He mumbles, snapping his arm back into place to begin the healing process.

Malia begins to charge at him again, causing Theo to instantly put his hands up as he announces, "Look, we can help you find them. Deaton and The Desert Wolf."

"How?" The Tate girl asks, biting the inside of her cheek as she looks between the two other teenagers.

Theo steps forward, holding his arm before responding, "The Dread Doctors. I know how they found everyone."

Malia slowly nods, "What do you want in return?" She asks, knowing Theo was only offering to help if he gained something as well.

However, what the werecoyote didn't except was for the huntress to step forward beside the Raeken boy, "Once we find your mom..." She pauses, creating an uneasy feeling to appear in the Tate girl's stomach, not sure of where this was going. A sigh escapes from Elena's mouth before she finishes her sentence, "You're gonna help us find mine."

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

Elena pulls out her apartment keys to unlock the front door to enter her home. A groan escapes her mouth when she drops the keys onto the ground which causes her to bend down to pick them up. However as she does so, she hears movement from behind her, making the Calavera girl instantly swing at the stranger who immediately caught her punch.

Brett laughs slightly at the girl's attempt of punching him and gently lets go of her hand. The huntress stares into his soft eyes, a hint of familiarity hitting her like a wave, "Do I know you?" She asks, her eyebrows furrowing as she inspects the Talbot boy's face.

The werewolf smiles sadly before shaking his head and disregarding the Calavera girl's question, "Look I heard that you've been looking for more information about The Beast of Gévaudan and The Scarlet Witch." He tells her, earning a nod in response from the brunette as she crosses her arms over her chest.

"Yeah, so?" She questions back, her interest peaking even if she didn't know or remember who this boy is. Brett holds up a drawing of a woman that was outlined in all red, showing it to the Calavera girl for her to see. "Did you draw this?" She asks, making the Talbot boy's scrunch his eyebrows since he was taken back from the girl's question.

"What? No, look at this," He tells her, standing behind the girl and pointing down towards the caption of the picture.

Elena's eyes glance at the werewolf behind her before slowly turning her head to read what he was motioning towards, "The Scarlet Witch is a powerful being that you do not want to cross. She is a Harbinger of Chaos whose destiny can fall two different ways. She can either destroy the world alongside the Beast of Gévaudan, or she can use her chaos magic to defeat the Beast, the choice is ultimately hers."

Once she was finished reading, she turns back around to face the Talbot boy, "Why did you show that to me?" She questions, her tone full of confusion as she spoke.

Brett folds the picture and places it back into his pocket before answering the Calavera girl, "Because you need to know that I will do everything in my power to make sure you don't fulfill the wrong destiny." He tells her, turning his back towards the huntress to leave her alone with her thoughts.

Even though Elena didn't know who he was, she could tell his words were genuine and truthful which conflicted the Calavera girl deeply. Because on one hand, her loyalties were towards Theo and his pack, mainly because he had brought her back to life. But on the other hand, she knew that the Raeken boy wasn't telling her the entire truth, and this very well just proves that.
