"If we're going to slow for you Vasha, you could have always waited at home" her older brother Victor told her sprinting ahead of her.
Vasha brushed off his comment, though she did hear him briefly laugh seeing that it had annoyed her.
The crisp air made Vasha chest swell, as she ran fastly through the woods, her jet black hair bouncing up and down behind her given she had tied it in a high ponytail, matching the outfit off with a gray crop sport bra and matching gray tights with her chunky white reebok sneakers.
"You are a idiot!" her older sister Velia told him, jumping over a fallen tree branch sprinting ahead of him.
Victor looked at her and rolled his eyes. Vasha would hardly have known Velia was there given the fact she moved so fast she almost appeared in a blur.
"How could I forget you tell me that everyday!" as Velia said, "Because you never seem to remember."
Victor was now running backwards only to gloat before catching up with their older sister.
Vasha tuned him out, she just focused on her breathes just like her dad had taught her when they had sprinted in the exact same woods two weeks ago.
Inhale for 3 and exhale for 3.
Vasha would have definitely consider herself senestive when she was younger, she was prone to cry at the most simplest thing, such as spilling her milk on the floor at the age of five thinking her mother would kill her for it, even if she said it wasn't a big deal or the texture of certain objects annoying the living shit out of her (which still aggravated her still to this day)
It was something she was known for, but now she didn't let anyone see her as fragile or senestive because in the mind of her father (and herself) it would ultimately make you look weak and weakness did not run in the Van Helsing family.
She shut her eyes and opened them and then with that sprinted at a fast pace. She jumped from log too log before she past Victor as she passed she tuck her tongue out at him (even if she was the rather serious one, messing with her older brother brought out the chidlish side of her)
He gave her a shock look, amazed she had passed him, given he was at first leading the race while she ran she saw their house come into the distance, as she recognized the stone path.
"Victory" She told herself, when she made it to the front door.
When she came upon their back yard, she jumped into the air cheering for herself and dancing a little as she did as she caught her breathe, the damp air making it a bit difficult for her to breathe.
Victor came running in a couple of seconds behind stoping himself to catch his breathe as well. He was 6'2 with coily dark brown hair as well as his golden oak colored skin, with a clean-shaven face with his thin dark brown eyes focused on Vasha given she was still doing her "i'm a winner, you're a loser, suck it" dance. He wore a black sleevles gym hoodie with gray shorts and matching gray sneakers.
"You lose I win." Vasha said to him, doing a celebratory bow in her own honor as Victor folded his arms. Vasha cheesed with a grin joking flipping her hair from her face. She ran so fast her hair popped from it's ponytail so it currently was down her back, and she ran her fingers through it.
"Yeah alright Twinkie, but just so you know why you'll been dancing Velia made it first."
Vasha was shocked before she turned to see her sister, leaning on the steps, drinking her water from her water bottle, sweat glistening from her face.
Velia was the eldest out of her and Victor, she was 5'6 (Vasha being 5'5) had clear dark brown skin with matching eyebrows and a round face with a pointed chin and a button nose and full lips. Her long dark black coily hair was tied into a half up half style and a brown lip combo similar to the one that was currently highlighting Vasha lips as she wore a baby pink workout attire which consitied of a long sleevle jacket, matching tights and a matching sports bra, that highlight her athletic bulid something that everyone in her family had.
"How the hell did you get here?! We took the long way." Vasha asked her arms crossed as Velia answered after closing the top to her water bottle, "Right you two took the long way. I didn't. technically in the bet you never said we couldn't take the short way."
Vasha gave her her a look as if saying, "Is this b*tch for real? " as Velia said seeing the look, "Don't be mad because you weren't clear on the rules Vas."
"Sorry, I just thought the rules were pretty self-explanatory." her voice lingering with saracasm.
"Of course they were, I did win after all." as Vasha scoffed.
"But beside, looks like you both owe me you're desserts tonight." as Velia turned her back to her younger siblings going up the stairs.
"And Vashti just text me and told me mom put the peach cobbler in the oven so it looks like I get three in total." as she gave a mischievous grin before walking inside the house, the door closing behind her.
"Damn." Vasha cursed before Victor said going towards the door, "Don't be disappointed, Velia always know how to use a strategy to win in the end, even in the smallest of bets." as he opened the door, holding it open for her.
Vasha knew he wasn't wrong, she wouldn't lie and said losing to her older sister didn't suck but what kind of sucked even more was losing her peach cobbler.
She brushed off her disappointment and took in a sigh before going inside her house.
Her family house was big to say the least. I mean with two parents and eleven kids, a small house wasn't going to make do.
Their house was made of wood, her father, and her three brothers help him build it from the ground up, and with a couple of fancy stuff from the Guild they had been living there for 3 years now.
Vasha liked the house of course, she was just thankful they had somewhere to stay, but it's did get lonely sometimes.
Her father chose the land, in the woods away from anybody, no people meant no evidence and no snooping, and nosy neighbors which was just as common as tv shows made them out to be.
If you got bored there was only two things you could do, train or find something in the gigantic house to entertain you for 24 hrs a day, and based on how passionate their dad was, he expected them to chose train over anything. So when her siblings got bored it was either watching tv, playing games with one another or doing their one of their favorite task which was to test one another on their knowledge of supernatural creatures.
There was a strict no going out rule her father had placed over the house since before she was born. Only he was able to venture outside, and once they reached the age of sixteen they were able to go out without the need of her father permission.
Her older siblings told her many stories and tales of how much worse they had it, with her dad specifically her third eldest siblings Vance, Vasilisa and Vashti.
Vasha walked into the house, closing the door behind her before putting her phone down on the counter table, as she took off her shoes leaving herself in her socks as she put her shoes against the wall of the kitchen before going into the living room. Victor immediately going into the pantry, grabbing a family bag of Lay's potato chips, while Velia went to sit down.
The inside of their house had polished wood floors with graceful banister that curved up toward a soaring second floor gallery. They also had beautiful high arched windows, which were drapped with inner black curtains which would allow daylight to enter, but it just showed a gray forecast.
The sofa in the living room they had was white with gray pillows and blankets that were placed perfectly on the sofa the spots being currently occupied by Velia and her other older sister Virita.
Of to the side was two bookcase stacked neatly with books and paperbacks, and off to the side of the wall there were family pictures, which including some childhood pictures of her and siblings, her mother and father's wedding pictures, and the single full family picture they had which they had taken only mere months ago, all of them dressed in neat white clothing it even including her grandparents who Vasha didn't see too often.
The entire vibe of her house was that of comfy, her mom made sured it stayed that way given the stress of the family business, she alawys made sure after a days of work her family could come inside and relax.
Speaking of, as soon as she entered the house she was hit with the smell of soul food, she came inside to see her mother currently standing in the kitchen standing over a pot mixing the inside with a spoon. By the smell of it, she could only believe it was her mother's signature shrimp and sausage gumbo.
Playing softly through her mother's black speaker was an instrumental version of Destiny's Child Carter 2 U, which is music her mother often drew too in order to get her in the mood of cooking.
Though the sounds of the oh so angelic Destiny Child was beginning to be drowned out by the sounds of the loud VR saber game currently being played by her brother Vasil across the kitchen leading into the living room.
Vasil was playing his VR saber game, the VR headseat currently over his eyes and the controllers in his hand as he smoothly followed the directions that were currently plastered on the screen.
The VR set was a present from they're mother for his 11th birthday, he had brought plenty of games, including many of boxing games, a car racing game, and a horror game. Now the boys would mostly play the boxing game but that didn't mean Vasha wouldn't like hopping on from time to time just to warm up her skills in boxing, even if she was a master in all things boxing, hand to hand, and martial arts.
Sitting on the couch was her other older sister Virita, who had her Beats on sketching. Erasing a messed up eye she had drawn as she hummed to herself and by the sounds of her hums, Vasha knew she was currently listening to Alicia Keys's album, The Element of Freedom and more specific the song Doesn't Mean Anything.
Her brother cheered loudly at his win which startled her mother who was currently sprinkling cayenne in the pot said, "Vasil please, low the game down!" it was turned up so high he didn't even respone not hearing so her sister took it in her own right to throw a pillow at him causing him to turn behind to them. "What?" he asked.
"Mom said turn it down, what's your goal trying to go deaf?" Velia asked, he titled his head the headseat still covering his eyes, it was the sound of him failing the level which finally made him yank the headset off and tune in completly.
"Awe come on! See what you did, I lost." he complained to Velia. Vasil was her older brother and fifth Van Hesling child. He was also the second boy in the family. Vasil was 6'0 and had golden smooth brown skin with dark brown eyes, matching eyebrows and a slim nose and a pointed chin. He had dark black trimmed waves with a smooth shaved face. He currently was wearing a mustard color ribbet knit shirt with white shorts, the shirt currently showed off his tattoos that he had including one of a large flower on his right shoulder which lead to an arm sleevle and his left shoulder being another large flower which also lead into a sleevle, plus his chest tattoo and the the cursive V he had on his thigh with a sword.
"Please, we both knew you were bound to lose eventually." her sister Virita said, not even bothering to look up from her sketchpad which caused Vasil to suck in his teeth and smack them.
"See folks now that's what we call a hater." he said removing the headset and placing the controllers on the table, as Virita rose her eyes at him only to smile and say, "Can't be a hater if there's nothing for me to hate on." the comment earn her a snicker from Velia and a "Ha." from Victor, and a tiny little smirk from Vasha.
Vasil rolled his eyes before he ploped down on the sofa right next to Virtia going to mess up her hair, and take off her headphones which made Virtia groan in frustrate and punch him in his shoulder causing him to snicker seeing he was pissing her off.
"Hey, hey no fighting on the sofa please guys." her mother said from the kitchen hearing the two. "She started it ma." Vasil said as Virtia snatched her headphones back saying, "No I ended it." before putting her headphones back on and starting her music again.
Virtia was Vasha's older sister and the sixth Van Helsing child. Her and Vasil were also twins, Vasil being older by 2 mintues. Virtia was 5'5 had chestnut skin with dark cocca brown eyes, a pointed nose, a pointed chin, full lips and wavy soft deep brown hair. She wore a brown cropped shirt with camouflage leggings and white socks, her hair currently in a half up half down bun, sliver rings located on her fingers.
"I really don't care who started it, just please do not make a mess in the living room. I spent hours cleaning it yesterday and I would really like it if it stayed nice." as Virtia and Vasil said, "Yes ma'am." at the same time.
"Smells good ma." Victor told leaning himself on the table as her mother said, "Awe thank you baby, I just about to pull out the peach cobbler." the mention of peach cobbler made Velia smirk and glance at Victor who rolled his eyes.
"What's wrong?" she asked as Velia said, "Nothing ma, just don't get use to the smell of it ok, cause you and Vasha's cobbler is mine." the last words directed towards her siblings as her mother said, "Please don't tell me you three are making bets again." as Vasha took a sip of her water. "Yeah we did, and me and Victor lost."
"Ha." Vasil said to Victor who gave him a look, as her mother sighed, "Velia didn't follow the rules." Vasha pointed out as Velia said, "Whatever you say Vas." as her mother came from the kitchen in order to make her older brother move his legs from the table, "Not on my table." as she said, "All of you go wash up please." as they all said, "Yes ma'am." and went upstairs.
Before Victor went upstairs her mother took the potato chips out of his hands, "Ma." as her mother gave him a look before he said, "Fine." as she smile and kissed his cheek not without tugging a bit on his ear, a move she had been doing since Vasha and her siblings were little.
Like Vasha had mentioned, in total she had ten siblings, and almost all of the older kids were in there early if not late twenties, while Vasha, Victor and her other younger three siblings were still teenagers, Vasha was 17, Victor being the same age, the others being 16, 15 and 14.
Vasha was about to go upstairs and get ready for dinner as well when her mother stopped her. "Vasha, baby look at that, you brusied you're forehead." as she ran her finger over Vasha's forehead causing her to wince, not even knowing.
"Mom, I'll be ok. I'll heal." Vasha said, as her mother titled her head, her hands on Vasha's cheeks. Vasha's mother was nothing more than pure beauty. She was 5'8 women with dark chocolate brown, smooth deep bronze skin that matched well with her button nose, deep brown eyebrows, full lips that were currently highlighted with deep pink lip combo and her pointed chin.
It was said that Vasha was her mother's twin getting many of her looks from her. Her hair long and wavy, its colors being a dark ebony black though you could find the tiny amounts of pink dye hidden inside making it pop against her skin. It was tied into a messy bun. She was currently dressed in a black long sleevle off the shoulder sundress that hugged at her hips and curvy, on her finger was her wedding ring, which was in the shape of a teardrop, the gem shinning brightly on her finger, it's size being able to blind basically anybody in it's path. The shank of the ring color was black while the teardrop itself was colored a ruby red.
"I know, you'll heal. You alawys do, sweetie." as Vasha said, "I know, very fast healing, which is why I don't know why you're currently worried about it." as her mother smiled before she began to smother Vasha in all types of hugs and kisses, "Can't I not find a excuse to hug and love my loving daughter?" as she messed with Vasha's hair and kissed her on the forehead and cheek.
Vasha currently suffocating in it all said, "Mom, come on, I can't breathe!" her mother grined and after a while let Vasha go allowing Vasha to fix her hair and take in a breathe, Vasha turned to her mother, a gaze located on her face. Her mother smelt of deep cherry and cookies, and a hint of blackberries with a bisk scent of vinallia.
"Go wash up, ok, dinner will be ready in a few mintues. Plus you're sister and brother and dad are coming home later today and I want all of us to look good, while eating some very good food."
Vasha would lie and said her whole body didn't tense up with the words her mother said. Now it wasn't even about the fact that her two eldest siblings were coming home, no she was in fact thrilled to see Vance and Vasilisa. What made her body tense was the fact that her father was also going to be home tonight too.
Vasha's father was a man of business. He loved his family, Vasha knew he did, but that didn't mean at times, his job didn't also take up a part of his heart where he's family should have been. He was intense and sometimes his intense nature would rub off on his kids.
He expected a great deal of his children. They had to be the best, be the best at the "family business." get the job done, no expections. So when he would come home from a trip, it would be a pretty big deal.
"O-Ok." as Vasha nodded before going upstairs.
She shared a room with younger sisters Verena, Vanya and Vela. Velia shared a room with Vashti, Virtia and her older sister Vasilisa when she wasn't away doing her own solo tasks. Victor, Vasil and Vance also shared a room when Vance was home if not doing taks with Vasilisa or solo.
Now most people would question that at the age she was, it would wise for her to have her own room, but she didn't mind sharing a room, she honently thought it would be better that way, because truth be told she didn't like being alone, it left her with her own thoughts which would become dark if she let them wonder too long.
Later into the night Vasha was currently training in the family gym that was downstairs one of the two things you could do if you got bored in the house. Her hair was tied up into a ponytail (much tigther than earlier) with two strains being left out as she wore a black sports bra with matching black leggings and white sneakers.
She was currently beating the living hell out of the punching bag in front of her, with her own red pair of Beats over her ears. She gave out tiny grunts as she Jabed at the red bag in front of her.
She was in the zone, lasered foucs before she heard a annoyed huff followed by a, "Vas, I swear if you hit that punching bag one more time." It was loud enough to where Vasha could hear even if she was currently blasting her own music through her ears.
She took her beats off, only to witness her older sister Vashti give her a look of vex. The moment Vasha removed her headphones she pasued the music on her Hot Pink boombox.
Vashti was her older sister and third Van Hesling child. She was also the second girl in the family. Vashti was 5'6 had a shade of chashew skin with sharp dark mocha eyes, a button nose, dark thin eyebrows, full lips that right now were in a maroon red lip highlight with a pointed chin and currently she was wearing one of her wigs. This one being a lush wavy dark brown, that was tied up with a pink claw clip into a bun. She was wearing a white leotard with pink tights, a matching flowly pink skirt with her matching pink pointed shoes. She truly looked like a Barbie doll mixed with a Bratz doll.
Vasha sighed. It's not like she didn't love Vashti she did but her sister could be described as nothing more than the alpha female of their family, offended realishing in the title of being a princess and not being afraid to flaunt the family name (and money) in the face of those she deemed beneathed her. She had no fliter at times. Sure she could be classifed as you're typical mean girl, but to Vashti she loved being the it girl.
Yes at time it could put her at rifts with her little siblings, given at times she could use her status as the third eldest to get whatever she wanted from them, via blackmail if needed. The only sibling she didn't use it on was Velia one because Velia was too booksmart and two Vashti had too much respect for Velia as a little sister, though Victor would call her out and said she was deeply scared of Velia. She did love all her siblings and despite it all, they all loved her back especially the younger girl siblings for boy advice .
Vashti crossd her arms over her chest. "Didn't you see the text I sent to the sibling group chat?" she asked. Vasha stared at her blankly. She hadn't been looking at her phone in the last couple hours, as Vasha herself tended to use her time for more productive things, like training rather than mindless scrolling.
Vashti seeing she had yet to respond. Groaned out, her hand coming in contact with her forehead not enough to run her lip combo but enough to make a sound as she squinted her eyes. "Vas. I know that you aren't the most tech savy, but when you see my name pop up on you're contacts. You read it." she ordered her at the end like it was almost compeletly obvious.
Vasha rolled her eyes in Vashti face, a habbit she had been doing since was practically old enough too. "Like immediately." as Vasha gave a sly smirk, "I'll make note in the back of my head." as Vashti arms still crossed over her chest eyed Vasha up and down.
Vasha caught her, sighed and took her 2009 Iphone from her back pocket and opened it only to see a notification.
She opened it and in doing so opended the sibling group chat. When it was labeled and their parents created the group chat for them it was called, "Our Family Tree." which was the name of their whole family group chat currently, but the minute there parents left the chat, Vasil changed the name to "The Mickey Mouse Crack House."
The others found the name so funny and accurate that they never even bothered to change it and it stuck even years later. It was the group chat were they talked, ranted, told funny stories, ask the other stupid questions, sent memes (Vasil and Vanya) and at 3am start the most unnecessary beef which would be squashed early in the morning or later in the afternoon.
And almost all of them (expect Vela, the baby of the family) swore too, in the chat, the lanuage enough too if there mother saw would not only leave her speechless and in a coma, but ultimately beat the "manners" back into her oh so kind and polite kids.
You would think with oh so strict parents they would be oh so uneasy about the contexts of what there texts would be about, but despite every fight or arguement, the first thing Vance (the eldest sibling) made them all swore; what said in the group chat stays in group chat, and all of them agreed.
She looked past the recent texts from her siblings to scroll in the present to so, Vashti text which read, "Occupying gym." with the emoji of the pink bow at the end, which was Vashti favorite emoji.
"Whoops, didn't see it." Vasha said stuffing the phone back into her pocket with a smirk, as Vashti scoffed. "Well you see it now." as Vasha rolled her eyes, "Oh don't even Shti, you act like you can't do ballet in you're room."
"I'm down here because, I have a recital in 3 weeks for Coppélia, and as the main lead, I desire perfection, hell I don't desire it, it's in my blood."
Vasha swore she could hear how loud her own eye rolling was. "You can train any day you want, why does it have to be today?" as she also added, "Plus I was here first."
"Like you dance how you're life depends on it. I train so my life depends on it, training makes me better." as Vashti rolled her own eyes, currently in 3rd postion as she said, "Please you're training makes you a robot."
"The hell is that supose to mean?" Vasha asked as Vashti said, "You are a robot Vasha. You only have three settings. Sleep. Eat. Train. Repeat." a hiss at the end of her senteance.
Vasha narrowed her eyes. "If I only have those settings. Yours are. Look at me. Look at me. Look at me. Repeat." her own hiss at the end.
"Awe nice one dear sister, but it is all about me." as she patted Vasha on her cheek, as Vasha swatted it away leaving Vashti to go back to rehearsing and putting her music back on.
Vasha couldn't lie, her sister did annoy her time and time again, but hell even she couldn't be a bit jealous of her confidence.
Vasha took her boxing gloves off, as she walked away saying to Vashti, "And unlike you dear sister. I never cared for a crown, alawys been a fan of a sword."
Surprisingly, the reaction didn't make Vashti mad, it made her smirk at Vasha's wittiness and in return Vasha smirked back at her.
It was around 8, Vasha was currently wrapping up her English paper. Despite alawys moving around alot, there mother alawys made sure they stayed educated. Which equaled homeschooling which Vasha didn't mind, though there was alawys a small part of her who wonder what public highschool would be like.
Was it really like the movies and TV-shows she watched, hell like Highschool Musical?
She knew she would never get a chance to figure it out, unless something big enough happen to where they would have to stay in a public school, but she highly doubt that would happen.
She sighed at the stupid thoughts currently tapping her pencil against the desk, which was underneath the bunk bed she shared with her younger sister Verena, while Vela and Vanya had their own bunk bed off to the side as well.
Vasha hearing the door creak open looked from her homework to noticed her younger sister Verena walk inside. She ran her fingers threw her black faux locs and setting down the wooden basket filled with the brightest Coneflowers Vasha had every seen, Vasha knew she had picked them and grown them, because she was the nature lover and was basically born with a green thumb.
She took off her sunglasses before she finally realized Vasha was smiling to her. It caused her to smile brightly back. Verena was her younger sister and the ninth Van Helsing child. And the sixth girl in the family. She was 5'2 had a shade of golden oak skin with round hazel eyes, a button nose, dark thin eyebrows and full lips that were currently in a bright pink lip combo. Her hair currently down her back with a brown bandana over neath. She was wearing demin shorts with high top white converse a off the shoulder brown sweater and little brown crystals and other sliver rings.
Vasha noticed the little dirt smudge on her cheek. Vasha then began to sign to her, "Seems like you enjoyed the garden." also signaling to the dirt on her cheek.
Verena head tilted and then felt her cheek, giving out a laugh before she wiped it away and picked up one of the flowers before she signed back, "I did. The flowers are growing at a perfect rate. So are all the others." Vasha said back, "From what I see by the window, they are beautiful." as Verena smiled, "Thank you." as she tucked her hair behind her ear, it showed off her navy blue hearing aid.
Verena since she was born had Congenital hearing loss, which basically mean't hearing loss at birth. It wasn't a problem for her parents either, who embraced Verena as well as the rest of the family. All of the Van Helsing's were flunet in ASL, BSL, PSL, FSL, CSL, SE, Auslan, Auxilliary SL and ISL.
It was something that Verena was thankful for and something that Vasha's parents made sure they learn, way before they knew any other training. They also provided Verena all she could need, such as special classes and other things to help her out. Their father thought about what the Guild would say about her, and if they would treat her differently, but they didn't hold it against her and Verena didn't let it hold her back either, according to all the other Freshmen members, she was one of the best.
Verena going to her bed peeked over Vasha's shoulder to see her homework before she asked, "Understanding English homework?" as Vasha sighed before she said to her, "It's easy. Topic about Shakespeare, have to break down Hamlet." as Verena asked, "How's it going?" taking her shoes off.
Vasha glanced down at her paper. She may have said it was easy, but she was only 2 paragraphs in and that was unlike her. English was her subject, something that came so easy to her and since a young age she could write papers and essays like it was nothing. But when it came to this essay about breaking down Hamlet she couldn't even began to understand the chaos that was William Shakespeare.
She turned to her sister. "Great." she signed as Verena gave her back a gentle nod. With that the door to the bedroom opened this time not in a quiet manner but a loud one. Her two younger sisters came inside (well more like barged in) and began to argue.
"Don't even try to deny it Vee, I know it was you that screwed with my records!" Vanya told her, holding the black large record in her hand and from the glimpse Vasha could see that it was scratched up.
"For the final time I did not touch your stupid record!" her youngest sister Vela told her, well more like screamed to her.
Vasha rolled her eyes at the two, Verena catching her eye roll smirking a bit before Vasha said to the two, "I'm trying to do homework and before you two came in her, it was peaceful. Now what's the problem?"
They turned to look at Vasha. Vanya was also her younger sister. She was tinth Van Helsing child, and the seventh girl in the family. She was 5'3 had rich brown copper skin with round russet brown eyes, a greek shaped nose, dark trimmed eyebrows and glossy lips. Her dark brown hair was straight and down her back as she wore a gray mini skirt with a red shirt that read, "NO MORE RULES." in big white front as she matched the outfit with black and white chunky Vans.
Vela was the youngest Van Helsing sibling. She was the eleventh Van Helsing child and the "baby." of the family. She was also the eignth girl in the family. She was 5'1 had honey shade skin with sharp thin siena brown eyes, a greek shaped down and arched thin dark eyebrows, with cupidbow shaped lips that were just highlighted in pink lipgloss. Her dark brown hair currently put into knotless braids that were curled at the bottom. She was wearing gray leggings with a matching v neck shirt with a plaid black and grey shirt overneath, as she wore white Nike socks.
"She scratched my record that's the problem." as Vasha turned to look at her youngest sister. "Vee is what Vanya saying true?" she asked her, "No! I was with mom, practing gymnastics till like 4 in the afternoon!" as Vanya folded her arms. "Come on! You have to believe me."
"Decides you have no proof!" she said back as Vasha sighed saying, "If she says she was with mom, she was. But Vee if you did it please don't." as Vanya added, "Yeah listen to Vas, because I don't play with my records." her sister said to her as Vela told her back, "Trust me nobody wants to listen to your mindless nosie anyway."
"It is not mindless nosie It's electronic music, and it doesn't like you either." as Vela stuck her tonuge out, Vasha was about to seperate them again but Vasil knocked on the door in a rhymantic noise.
"Hey she-devils, dinner's ready, come eat." as Vasha took in a breathe. "Ok, we will finish this up later ok. Best selfs ok dad's coming." Those words made her sister sigh, and made them tighened up and place whatever BS they were dealing with aside.
Tonight they needed to sell it. They did to convice their father that they hadn't been messing around the whole time and stayed up to date on all of there training.
Vanya placed down her record and went downstairs, Vela following soon after. Vasha sighed to herself as Verena hopped down from her bunk, "Everything going to be ok." she told her as Vasha couldn't help but grow a smile at the glimpse of Verena's hopefulness.
She signed back, "Right. Dad's going to behave and so are we" as Verena nodded rubbing Vasha's shoulder in sympathy before she herself headed downstairs.
Vasha took in a deep breathe fixing her hair and her posture. She had placed a off the shoulder white sweater over her workout fit from earlier, she believe being in the clothes would give off the impression that she had been working hard, and that she had been focusing while her father was away.
She gather herself together, and went downstairs. She didn't know what she expected, but she didn't expect, to hear cheery laugther and the sounds of jokes being made.
She rose a brow as she ascending down the stairs, as she did she witnessed her other siblings currently hugging what looked to be-
"Vance! Vasilisa!" Vasha said with glee. After the pair hugged Verena and Vanya, they both rose their eyes to see Vasha.
"Hey Vash!" they told her. Vasha extended her arms out before she wrapped them around her the two. She nuzzled herself in there warmth.
"Seems like somebody missed us." Vance told her, as Vasha removed herself from them in order to look up at him.
Vance was the eldest Van Helsing sibling. He was the first Van Helsing child and the first son of the family. He was 6'0 had smooth amber skin with sparkling dark mocha eyes, a slim nose and arched dark brown eyebrows. He also had a pointed chin. He had dark finely trimmed waves, a dark matching goatee and some more facial hair too. He was dressed in a black ribbed knit shirt that showed off his muscles and his athletic figure, as he matched it off with black padded jeans and black combat boots.
"I know, seems like it was boring without our presence Van." her eyes trailed off to her eldest sister Vasilisa.
Even if you never knew Vance and Vasilisa, you would tell just by a glance at them that they looked alike. Because one the too were relatives and two they were twins. The first set of twins in the family.
Vance being older then Vasilisa by one mintue.
Vasilisa was the second eldest Van Helsing child and the first girl in the family. She was 5'7 had warm honey colored skin with sienna brown eyes, matching eyebrows, a pointed chin and a button nose. She had thick brown curly hair and she was currently wearing a black v-neck t-shirt with black cargo pants and black combat boots, she gave Vasha the warmest smile.
"How did it go?" Vela asked the twins eager to find out about their journey. Vasilisa smiled to the youngest. "Yeah, you guys have to tell us everything." Victor added as Verena signed, "Make sure you don't leave out a single detail."
The twins were about to explain but there mother came through the room, she saw the twins. "Mom!" Vasilisa said as there mother squealed. "Babies!" as she rushed towards them hugging them tightly and smothering them with kisses.
Vasha gave a soft smile and eye roll at her mother, but her mother was too wrapped up in the twins to notice. "Oh my god. Thankful you both are alright, I was so worried about you both-" as she nudged Vance in the shoulder, "I told you call me every night Vance."
"Ma, I missed one call and that was a couple of hours ago." as her mother folded her arms. "I am your mother, when I call you pick up, no matter what hour of the day it is." as he said, "I will. I'm sorry." he said to her truthfully as her mother glared at him.
She shook herself off taking in a breathe before she hugged him tightly. "It's ok honey. I'm just glad you are home safe." as she said, "Both of you." glancing to Vaslisa who smiled at their mother, as she cupped her cheek.
"You both must be straving. Dinner's ready." as Valisa said, "Smells like you famous seafood gumbo. Lord knows I'm straving." as Vasil said, "Finally we can eat." as the family turned to him with glares on their faces before they turned into smiles. "I mean, don't get me wrong big sis and big bro, I missed you but my stomach comes first."
Valisa punched his shoulder, "Of course it does Vasil." as his rubbed the spot where her fist came in contact. "Ow, sis, damn." as his mother caught his swear. "No crusing in the house!" as she smack the top of his forehead. "Ow ma, sorry."
The siblings laughed as Verena signed, "Save it for the group chat." as the other siblings nodded at her.
"Dad." Virtia said, it alerted the others and made them turned towards the door. Vasha's eyes went to the door quickly and with that she saw him.
Her father.
He stood at the doorway. He waited a couple of mintues until he closed the door, that's when he fully faced his family. Vasha could swear she felt the air grow cold and all of her siblings grow quiet.
There he was, her father. Vadar Van Helsing. Vasha could swear she felt it was now diffcult to breathe in the house that once wasn't.
Vasha knew it and her entire family did as well, that whenever their father came in the room, he was the biggest baddest person in the room. You would shut up as soon as he walked in. You would give him your attention, you would follow his orders and understand that in reality, you didn't matter at that moment and he did.
That was the kind of aura, her dad had.
His face was covered by his motercyle helmet. It wasn't until he hung up his keys, and placed them on the key hanger that he removed his helmet and placed it to the side of the coffee table.
Her father was tall, he stood around 6'8 had warm almond skin with sharp narrow mahogany eyes, a slim nose, thick trimed dark brown eyebows, full lips as well as a pointed chin to match. He had a fresh black curly line up and a black beard to match. He wore a black shirt that hugged at his muscles, and matching black leather-gloves, on his arms and shoulders being his tattoos. His arm tattoos being that of vines, on his fist was a rose and spelt on his knuckles was the words, "SELF-MADE" Vasha knew tattoed over his heart was there mother's name and on his left shoulder were all of there names and on his other shoulder was a large dagger in red with fangs. He wore black padded jeans that held storages spaces for his weapons and combat boots with sliver chains on them. On his ring finger was of course his wedding ring, the band black and shimmered out in red customed crystals.
Vasha tried to read his facial expression, but it was damn near impossible. Was he mad? Was he happy? She swear she could alawys tell, but tonight she couldn't. Maybe it was her nerves taking over.
She didn't expect any movement, but it was her mother to make her way towards him. She walked in front of him, her father's eyes meet her eyes, as she glared at him.
The slience was instense, but her mother placed her hand on his cheek, running her hand over his smooth skin. "Welcome home, My Moon." she told him, before her lips became embraced in a bright smile.
She saw her father take her mother's hand off his cheek and in return intangle it with his own, there size difference was so noticable, Her father towned over her mother and yet, it was like they molded together perfectly, like the two were made for each other.
He placed a lock of her mother's hair behind her ear before he spoke. His voice deep, yet to her mother so romantic and gentle it was down right adorable. "Hello, My Sun." as her mother smiled leaning into her father's warmth, before they shared a romantic kiss, his father hand moving to her mother's wasit.
That's what her mother and father had been calling each other forever. Sun and Moon. Vasha thought it was because of there different personality and how despite it all, they were perfect for each other, but that was just her guess, she knew deep down that it was a bigger meaning than that, and a much more romantic one.
They pulled apart, before she took his hand, before they turned to their kids. "Your kids have missed you darling." as her father's glance went hard again to his kids, who were still in slience at his presence, only going soft when there mother clamed their father down just for that split mintue.
"Have you all been training?" he asked them as they nodded. "Yes sir." they said in unison.
"Good." as he began to place his weapons away, the small knives and daggers hidden in his shoes and his weapon bag which he placed on the living room table.
"Are you hungry, dinner's ready. Thought we could all eat together." as she placed her hand over his heart, "And you tell them the news." she whispered to him softly to where only he could hear as she titled her head.
"Ok." he said to her as she nodded to him, walking towards the kitchen and in return he followed.
They all let out the breathes they were holding. "Well, dad's home." Victor said to break the slience as Vela rubbed her shoulders, "Is it just me or did he become a bit more terrifying since last time we seen him." as Vasil said, "It's just his scary ass vibe, I'm telling you."
Vasha tuned them out only to witness her father washing the blood of his hand in the kitchen sink, she didn't even realize how much was on his glove and in return on his weapons, as she glanced at the blood on his bag.
He must have felt her stare because he looked up at her in a quick pace, meeting eye contact with Vasha. She yelped a bit before turning back to her siblings.
"Did the mission go ok? Was he acting off?" Vanya asked Vasilisa who was about to answer before Vance interrupted her, "Doesn't matter now. Everyone just act chill. Don't set him off."
"Right. Just be ourselves, expect leave the chaotic part out." Velia added. The siblings nodded before they headed to the dinner table.
Vasha wasn't going to lie, but slient dinners with her dad was normal. You could guess with his rather cold and serious nature, her father wasn't much of a talker and you'd be right. Her father did everything in slience.
Vasha called it his default setting. Vasha didn't even recall the last time she heard her father let out a happy expression or laugh or hell even smile, nobody made him smile only her mother did when her father was home, all he could do was simple grunt or just give a facial expression which would tell you his current emotion.
But other than that, her father was a blank canvas. Vasha took tiny bites of her seafood gumbo, it was delicious of course, her mother was a excellent cook and baker, alawys had been.
But her appetite was slowly draining with every second she had to sit her ass in that cute yet uncomfortable if you sit in for too long black wooden chair, but to honest Vasha never could sit in a chair correctly to save her life.
Her father sat at the head of the table of course, next to him on right was Vance, Vasilisa, Vashti and then Velia, Vasli and Vritia. On the left was Victor, then Vasha, then Verena, Vanya and Vela, there mother sitting on the other end of the table.
On the table was there forks, plates, cups, napkins. This also include the seafood gumbo with rice, the peach cobbler with homemade vanilla ice cream, the homemade rolls, a fresh ceaser salad, cheese grits, collard greens and cornbread.
So yeah, enough food to feed her entire family. As they ate, her mother had white wine, her father having a glass of Whiskey, and her siblings having juice.
She looked to her other siblings who focused on their food and eating rather than bathe in the quiet as she looked to Victor who looked to her, currently taking spoonful after spoonful of his gumbo. It honestly made Vasha roll her eyes, and let out a smile and if her father wasn't in front of her, she would laugh.
She felt wrong to say that dinner's without her dad were more peaceful and more lively. After wiping her mouth off with her napkin she cleared her thoart, "Honey." it made her siblings eyes rise again and off of their plates to look at their mother, who gave a smile to father.
"I believe it's time to share the exciting news with the kids."
All of siblings shared glances and looks with the others. Vasha could swear they all were trying to figure out what the hell "exciting news" meant.
"What does exciting news mean?" Victor whispered to Vasha who took a tiny bite of her cornbread before saying, "You're guess is as good as mine."
"Now?" he asked to assure, taking a sip of his Whiskey. "Vadar." her mother said, her hand over her heart as she rubbed it softly in a circle motion, a signal she guessed to her father who did the same thing before he took in a breathe and a swing of his drink.
"I got a call when we were out on the mission to deal with the latest attack, three city overs. The call was from Mayor Lockwood."
Mayor Lockwood? That name didn't sound familar to Vasha.
"He is the Mayor of a town named Mystic Falls."
"Mystic Falls?" Verena signed to her father, as he signed back, "Correct." as Vasha looked back to her siblings again, they all had questions running in there heads so Vasha took the need to ask the first one, after her siblings gave her the "go ahead." nod.
"W-Where is Mystic Falls, sir." Vasha asked, she didn't even notice the sudden chills she got on her body the moment her father's eyes once again meet her's.
Sudden, the color of the gumbo was very interseting. "Virginia. The town is located in Virginia." as Vashti cleared her thoart before saying, "Virginia is pretty far, sir."
He took a sip of his drink before he told them. "He told me, that he knows of our family business. And that he's currently dealing with a wave of parasitates that have infected the town."
"I dug into the history, and it's not the first time, suspicious things have happen. People turning up dead out of nowhere and no more mere explaination than an animal attack."
"But it's not really an animal attack." Vance said as his father said, "He wants us to deal with them."
Vasha took in a sigh, as she fixed her postion in her chair.
"The Gulid has been made aware of Mystic Falls for decades now and has been wanting to send the best hunters to that town but has never had the opportunity to until now. And that responsibility now falls on us. Given our status, our family's legacy and the fact we are the best hunters the Gulid has every had."
"And we are the only who can deal with them, given our own share of abilties."
Velia then speaked up after taking a bite of greens, "So what are we dealing with exactly sir?" as her father said, "Vampires." as her siblings nodded in understatment.
"Great little puny vamps, perfect targert pratice." Vasil said, his unserious nature made his father glare at him, but Virtia noticed and took the heat off of him, "Vamps. Ok, so this is your assignments?" a eyebrow raised.
"No a family assignment." her mother said speaking up. "The Gulid has assigned this for all of us. As a family to go to Mystic Falls and deal with the vampires who are trying to overrun the town."
"Wait, go to Mystic Falls. Ma that's like 7 hours away from Georgia." as her mother said, "That something me and your father know." as she took in a pause before she finally said, "That is why we are moving."
Her siblings looked at their mother, honestly it wasn't even her saying that they were moving. Her siblings were use to not staying in one place for no longer than a couple of days or weeks if most.
But they had been in Georgia for 3 years now, and Vasha wouldn't lie and say she had grown to like Georgia and leaving was going to suck given it was really the most stable she's felt and a place she had called home.
"We are packing everything up and we are going to live in Mystic Falls." as her father said, "The decision is final. And one that I've been made."
Vasha wanted to roll her eyes but she knew better. It would be stupid to even think why her father would decline, I mean what would his reason be. To spend time with his kids?
No.
Work came first and like alawys it came before family. Decides, what her father said was right, her family was the best at what they did, and that was too get rid of monsters.
Didn't matter the shape or size. The bigger they were, the harder they fell.
And her family was going to make sure they fell, hard.
It's what they trained to do for all their lives, it's what Vasha had devoted her entire life too, her purpose was to slay what hid in the shadows.
Trust she had the skills to do so, and the powers too.
Vasha looked to the deep freezer a couple of feet away from them, sticking out was the straw of a blood bag, it was dripping it's remains onto the marble flooring. The blood was a deep red and even though far away, it smells filled the inside of Vasha's nosie quick and fast and the only thing she could smell for those given mintues was the thick fluid.
Vasha bite on her bottom lip briefly as she watched her family take sips of there drinks. Her siblings were drinking, but it wasn't juice like Vasha had told perviously.
She saw Vasil basically drown it witihin gulps, watched as Victor wiped his bottom lip off after a big gulp. Saw Velia tongue briefly savor the taste with each swing she took and her siblings enjoy it as well as her father. She herself watched as the deep crimson liquid swirled around in her champange glass.
She raised it to her lips before drowing it herself. As she did, she felt the metallic taste dive deep into her tastebuds, it warming her up on the inside and in turn making her feel euphoric a bit.
She carefuly used her finger to wipe away the remains, as she did you could see a sneak peak of her pale white fangs which were currently extended from canine teeth, the iris of her eyes flashing from there regular deep brown too a deep sparkling magenta, the sclera black, dark veins appearing under her eyes, blood pumping from them forcefully.
Vasha didn't know if it was just the blood, but from the looks around the dinner table, her siblings not only shared the same expressions, but there eyes the same look, dark mangeta and fangs in all.
She meet eyes with her father once more, he also looked the same, a hunger for the kill in his eyes too.
Vasha, including her family (expect her mother) were Dhampirs, a result of the union between a vampire and a human. They were the Original Family of Dhampirs.
As well as being apart of the famous royal vampire slaying lineage: the Van Helsing.
The last name that struck fear into those who dare come across them, the family who had merciless been hunting not only vampires but also other supernatural creatures for centuries.
And now currently, her vampire hunting family was going to pay a little trip to Mystic Falls and was simply going to make the undead bastards that hunted, terrorized and plauge the town one word
Extinct.
