CHAPTER ONE:
THE SUDDEN MURDERS

CASEY BECKER'S DEATH was all over the news ever since early in the morning, including her own boyfriend's death as well. The two teenagers had been found on the Becker property, their insides spilling out as they had been placed in two different spots on the grounds of the family of now two. The sun was shining down on the many reporters standing outside of Woodsboro High School.
Reporters didn't waste anytime to surround the streets that the school full of many students was on as they spoke about the news everyone was talking about now, not having gotten something big like this in a long time. Vehicles were parked on the side of the road, including police cars as officers answered some questions and others were already calling students to the principal's office to ask them questions about the people who had been murdered.
Teenagers were staring at the reporters, murmurs about the new murders that had happened the night before leaving past their mouths. One of the students of the school could be seen heading towards the building. Y/n Walker had her hands in her pants pocket as she looked around at all the police officers and news reporters surrounding her school, silently wondering what people were talking about.
It hadn't been all that long till she had caught sight of a familiar face when that person saw her. Tatum Riley was quick to move to one of her best friend's and link her arm with hers, immediately talking about the murder of Casey Becker and Steve Orth. Y/n put a confused and shocked expression on her face as they walked side by side, listening to the blonde speak about it like everyone else around them was doing.
Just a bit ahead of the two girl's, Sidney Prescott had been glancing around in confusion, showing she clearly didn't know what was happening and didn't know about the murders as she listened to Gale Weathers speak about it the murders when she heard Tatum's voice. The brunette jumped at the voice but quickly relaxed when she saw the two girls standing there and she was quick to question about what was going on.
"Tatum! Y/n! What is going on?" Sidney asks.
"You don't know?" Tatum questions in shock, making the brunette shake her head side to side. "Casey Becker and Steve Orth were killed last night."
Sidney's eyes widen in shock. "What? No way.
Tatum nods. "And we're not just talking killed, we're talking splatter-movie killed. Ripped open from end to end."
"Casey Becker. She sits next to me in English." Sidney recalls.
"Not anymore." Y/n states in response. "Her mom and dad, they found her hanging from a tree, her insides on the outside."
"Oh my god!" Sidney exclaims, still in shock. "Do they know who did it?"
Tatum shakes her head. "They're clueless. They're interrogating the entire school."
"Teachers, students, janitors." Y/n lists off.
Sidney furrows her brows. "They think it's school related?"
"They don't know. I mean, Dewey was saying this is the worst crime they've seen in years. Even worse than--" Tatum starts, stopping herself in realization of what she was about to say.
"Well, it's bad." Y/n intervenes, changing the subject.
When the bell suddenly rang, the girl was moving by the two girls and inside of the school, hearing them behind her as they all soon headed to class before they could all be late to their own classes.
* * *
It was lunchtime now. Students could be seen outside as they enjoyed the sun shining down on them for the time being before they'd have to head to their next classes, the day for them almost done before they could all head home. Some group of boys could be seen throwing around a football, occasionally tackling each other down while girls and other people watched from the sidelines.
The principal's voice could be heard on the speakers, telling all the students around to head home immediately after school and to walk in twos and threes and to avoid strangers. A group of teenagers could be seen all sitting together as they ate their lunch. Y/n was one of the teenagers, some grapes in her hand that Tatum had given her as she popped them into her mouth every couple seconds.
Sidney and Tatum were also part of the group. Sidney was leaning against her boyfriend, Billy Loomis', leg while the boy laid on his back, throwing some of the stems of his own fruit into the fountain without a care after he took a bite of his food. Tatum was right beside Sidney with the other couple of the group on her other side. Y/n felt her boyfriend's arms keep tight around her as she shared her food with him.
Grabbing a grape from her palm, the girl holds it up towards him. Stu Macher leans forwards and grabs the grape with his teeth, chewing on it while leaning his head against his girlfriend's. Once he finished chewing, he pressed a kiss to the side of her neck, letting his lips linger as he silently. And lastly, the other single friend of the group, Randy Meeks was tossing his food up into the air before catching it in his mouth.
"What kind of questions did they ask you guys?" Tatum asks, looking at her two best friends.
"They asked me if I knew Casey." Sidney replies.
Y/n nods, popping another grape into her mouth. "They asked me that, too."
"Hey, did they ask if you like to hunt?" Stu calls to his best friend.
"Yeah, they did. Did they ask you?" Billy questions as he leans up from where he was laying to look at the other boy, receiving a nod.
Tatum furrows her brows. "Hunt? Why would they ask you if you like to hunt?"
"Cause their bodies were gutted." Randy blurts out without a care.
His sudden words had Sidney looking away, an uncomfortable expression etching on her face. Y/n seemed to be the only one to notice that as she watches Sidney look back down, the brunette fidgeting with her fingers. Y/n's eyes looked her up and down with a blank face before looking away, Stu's hand caressing her side.
"Thank you, Randy." Billy tells the boy in a sarcastic tone.
"They didn't ask me if I like to hunt." Tatum recalls.
Stu chuckles a bit, scoffing. "It's cause there's no way a girl could've killed them."
Y/n narrows her eyes on him, both of them knowing the silent words she was telling him. "The killer could easily be female."
"Yeah, she's right. That is so sexist." Tatum agrees. "Basic instinct."
"That was a an ice pick. Not exactly the same thing." Randy argues.
"Yeah, Casey and Steve were completely hollowed out. And the fact is, it takes a man to do something like that." Stu states, causing his girlfriend to glare at him.
Tatum rolls her eyes. "Or a man's mentality."
"How do you gut someone?" Sidney hesitantly asks, making everyone look at her as a silence took over them.
"You take a knife, and you slit them from the groin to the sternum." Stu informs, his words having Sidney shift uncomfortable.
"Hey..." Billy begins, giving him a look as Y/n secretly pinches his arm. "...it's called tact, you fuck rag."
"Hey, Stu, didn't you used to date Casey?" Sidney reminds in question.
"Yeah, for like two seconds." Stu replies with a scoff.
Randy leans towards his girlfriend. "Before she dumped him for Steve."
"Oh, really?" Y/n mumbles to herself, raising a brow at her boyfriend.
"He's full of shit." Stu exclaims, glaring at Randy.
Randy raises a brow. "And are the police aware that you dated the victim?"
Stu tilts his head, eyes narrowing on him. "Hey, what are you saying? That I killed her?"
"It would certainly improve your high school 'Q'." Randy comments with a nod.
"Stu was with me last night, okay?" Y/n insists, rolling her eyes at the boy in front of her.
Stu smirks. "Yeah, I was."
"Was that before or after he sliced and diced?" Randy questions in a joking manner.
"Fuck you, dipshit." Y/n snaps. "Where were you last night?"
"Working, thank you." Randy replies.
"Oh, at the video store?" Tatum asks with raised brows. "I thought they fired your sorry ass."
Randy pops a grape into his mouth, smiling. "Twice."
"I didn't kill anybody." Stu admits.
"Nobody said you did." Billy states.
Stu nods at him. "Thanks, buddy."
"Besides, it takes a man to do something like that." Randy mocks, repeating the words Stu had said just minutes before.
Stu chuckles. "I'm gonna gut your ass in a second, kid."
"Tell me something..." Randy starts while standing up, towering over them and making a weird face. "...did you really put her liver in the mailbox? Cause I heard that they found her liver in the mailbox next to her spleen and pancreas."
Tatum throws a piece of her food at him. "Randy, you goon! Fuck, I'm trying to eat here."
As they were speaking, Sidney had been shifting more uncomfortably before she leaned off of her boyfriend, leaning down and grabbing her backpack. Billy watched as she rubbed her hand over her face, clearly ready to leave so she didn't have to hear the conversation as Randy sat back down, leaning over Tatum to grab some more grapes.
Giving Billy a kiss on the cheek, Sidney stood up and walked off just when Stu was making a joke about Randy leaving Tatum alone, though he put the word 'liver' in there. Unlike what he expected, no one was laughing at his joke as he repeated it just when Billy leaned over and hit him harshly in the arm, making him yell out the word 'ow' before assuring it was a joke.
