CHAPTER FIVE:

REUNITED

THE ROGERS SIBLINGS silently stomped through a hall. They had just saved some soldiers, but there was no Sergeant James Barnes with them. Just then, someone walked out of a room, their gaze stopping on the super soldiers. Quickly, he started running away, the siblings quick to chase after him, but stopped, their blue and e/c eyes on the doorway of the room he walked out of.

"Sergeant. Three-two-five-five-seven." A familiar voice mumbles. Pushing past her brother, Y/n continues forward, then seeing a familiar face laying on a table.

James Buchanan Barnes.

"Bucky?" Y/n sighs in relief, cupping one of the said man's cheeks as Steve breaks the straps off the soldier.

"Is that..." Bucky trails off, staring up at his girlfriend.

"It's me. It's Y/n." Y/n informs.

"Y/n?" Bucky smiles slightly upon seeing the love of his life. The Rogers girl helps him up, his blue eyes then stopping on the blonde. "Steve?"

"I thought you were dead." Steve replies.

"I thought you two were smaller." Bucky observes. Eventually, the siblings then proceed to help Bucky as they walk out. "What happened to you two?"

"We joined the army." Steve replies.

"Did it hurt?" Bucky asks.

"A little." Y/n responds.

"Is it permanent?" Bucky questions, glancing down at Y/n and up at Steve. Even though she took the serum, Bucky was still slightly taller than her.

"So far." Steve responds.

All of a sudden, a loud explosion was heard, the building they stood in starting to shake. The siblings and Bucky leaned over a railing, seeing the explosions down below. Quickly, the Rogers siblings led the way up the stairs, Y/n's slightly smaller hand in Bucky.

"Captain America, and Lady America!" A voice exclaims, the three looking over, seeing Schmidt standing on the other side. "How exciting! I am a great fan of your films!" As Schmidt starts walking forward, the siblings follow. "So, Dr. Erskine managed it after all. Not exactly an improvement, but still, impressive."

Steve then proceeds to lunge forward, his fist meeting Schmidt's face.

"You've got no idea." Steve grunts.

"Haven't I?" Schmidt questions before going to punch Steve. However, his fist meets Y/n's shield.

Schmidt and the super soldier siblings proceed to fight against one another, the siblings teaming up against the man. When Y/n kicks Schmidt back, the catwalk starts to move apart, separating from the fight to continue.

"No matter what lies Erskine told you two, you see, I was his greatest success!" Schmidt exclaims before he starts to peel off his skin, revealing a red skull underneath.

"You guys don't have one of those, do you?" Bucky questions.

"You two are deluded. You pretend to be simple soldiers, but in reality, you're both just afraid to admit we have left humanity behind." Schmidt explains. "Unlike you two, I embrace it proudly. Without fear!"

"Then how come you're running?" Y/n questions.

Schmidt doesn't respond as the door to the elevator closes behind him. After glancing around, the explosions still happening, the trio continued running upstairs where they soon stopped in front of a large metal pipe, which looked like it was about to break any second.

"Let's go. One at a time." Steve instructs.

The siblings watch as Bucky slowly climbs over the railing, and carefully walks along the pipe before making it to the other side. Sharing a look, Y/n gestures for Steve to go, which he, at first, disobeys, wanting his sister to be safe, but her being the stubborn person she is, Steve hesitantly went next. As he made it to the other side, the pipe suddenly broke, separating the three.

"Gotta be a rope or something!" Steve shouts.

"Just go! Get out of here!" Y/n shouts back to her lover and brother.

"No! Not without you!" Bucky screams, eyes trained on the girl.

Y/n pushes a piece of the railing aside with her strength before moving backwards. Letting out a grunt, Y/n ran ahead, jaw clenched.

Then she jumped.

"Senator Brandt, I regret to report that Captain Steven G. Rogers and Y/n Rogers went missing behind enemy lines on the third. Aerial reconnaissance has proven unfruitful. As a result, I must declare Captain Rogers and Captain Rogers killed in action. Period." Colonel Phillips reads, a man typing every word on a typewriter.

"The last surveillance flight is back. No sign of activity." Agent Carter informs as she walks into the tent.

"Go get a cup of coffee, Corporal." Colonel Phillips demands.

"Yes, sir." The man obeys, standing up and walking out of the tent.

Colonel Phillips sighs. "I can't touch Stark. He's rich and he's the Army's number one weapons contractor. You are neither one."

"With respect, sir, I don't regret my actions. And I don't think Captain Rogers and Captain Rogers did, either." Agent Carter responds.

"What makes you think I give a damn about your opinions?" Colonel Phillips questions. "I took a chance with you, Agent Carter. And now America's golden boy and girl and a lot of other good men are dead cause you care for those two."

"It wasn't that. I had faith." Agent Carter responds.

"Well, I hope that's a big comfort to you when they shut this division down." Colonel Phillips says. It was then that he finally noticed all the men around their base running in a certain direction. "What the hell's going on out there?"

Colonel Phillips walked out of the tent without a word, Agent Carter soon following in suit, the two stopping at a crowd, which had now started to slowly separate of each sides, revealing many soldiers walking through, the Rogers siblings leading the way, Sergeant James Barnes beside his girlfriend. As they walked through the crowd, the soldiers around them started cheering for the super soldier siblings. The siblings had soon found themselves face to face with Colonel Phillips, where in unison, they saluted him.

"Some of these men need medical attention." Y/n informs.

"We'd like to surrender ourselves for the disciplinary action." Steve then adds.

"That won't be necessary." Colonel Phillips replies.

"Yes, sir." The siblings nod. With that, Colonel Phillips walks off as Agent Carter walks in front of the siblings.

"You two are late." Agent Carter reminds.

"Couldn't call our ride." Steve replies as he holds up a broken transponder.

"Hey!" Bucky suddenly shouts. All the soldiers turn in his direction as he looks at the siblings. "Let's hear it for Captain America and Lady America!" Instantly, everyone starts cheering loudly for the Rogers siblings.

Y/n meets Bucky's blue eyes, the two of them staring at one another. Suddenly, not caring about the crowd around them, Bucky grabs the Rogers girl by the waist, dipping her down, where the two then share a very passionate kiss, making the crowd go louder.
