Chapter 6: Left Behind

~3rd Person P.O.V.~

Later that night, both Edmund and Y/n sat in the air, griffins holding onto them as they silently flew around the Telmarine castle. The two griffins soon flew to a top part of the castle, where Edmund, Y/n, and the griffins hid on top of the roof, avoid themselves from being seen by the Telmarine guard below them. The two watched as one of the griffins grabbed ahold of the guard, the king and queen jumping to the ground silently. Both looked over the edge, seeing more guards below, but far enough that they wouldn't notice the two humans.

Y/n watched as Edmund held up his torch, turning it on and off, giving his siblings and Caspain the signal. Slightly afar from the castle, Susan, Caspian, Peter, and Trumpkin were all in the air, being held by griffins, just like the two of them. Eventually, the three older teens and dwarf passed the two slightly younger teens as Edmund continued turning his torch on and off. The two watched as the dwarf and three older teens landed safely on another part of the castle's roof, Peter quickly taking down a guard.

The two then stand side by side, leaning on the pillars, waiting for anything. Y/n silently played with her fingers, occasionally glancing at Edmund, seeing him twirling his torch around in his hands, his hands slightly near the edge of the tower they stood on.

"Be careful." Y/n warns quietly. The Pevensie boy looks at her curiously as she motions to the torch. "You might drop it."

Edmund scoffs. "I'm not going to drop it."

Just as he says this, however, the torch stumbles in Edmund's hands, falling right over the edge, landing just slightly below them.

"Edmund!" Y/n scolds in a whisper, following the king down the stairs.

As they make it down the stairs, they stop near a window half way, seeing a Telmarine guard standing below them, his back facing them, holding Edmund's torch in his hands, examining it. The two hide behind the walls, peeking over, watching the guard accidentally turn on the torch, the bright light making him squint. Just then, loud bell sounds were heard, only meaning one thing as Y/n's eyes widen.

They were caught.

Edmund quickly jumps down from the window, tackling the guard, Y/n following. As she goes to help the boy, she was suddenly pinned to a pillar by another guard, both the king and queen having to fight two Telmarine guards.

"Now, Ed! Now!" Peter shouts as he runs outside. "Signal the troops!"

"I'm a bit busy, Pete!" Edmund replies.

Suddenly, Edmund headbutts the guard in front of him, their swords clashing together. Y/n was able to kick the the guard, in front of her, away, letting out a little growl while doing so. All their swords clash together before one of the guards pushes Edmund's sword from out of his grip, just as Y/n was finishing off the one in front of her. Quickly, Edmund uses his torch to finish off the other one.

Both now went beside each other, Edmund hitting his torch many times as he tries to get it working. Eventually, the loud cries of the Telmarine soldiers rang through their ears.

"Come on!" Edmund exclaims, continuing to hit his torch.

Finally, the torch turns on, their eyes widening as Edmund aims the light in the direction of where the troops stood, turning it on and off. Soon enough, cries went through their ears. Y/n peeks over the edge, seeing Peter, Susan, and Caspian finishing their task of opening the gates, their troops running through as Peter and Caspian unsheathe their swords.

"For Narnia!" Peter shouts as they run forward.

Edmund grabbed Y/n's hand, the two running, crawling on top of a small roof, watching the fight below them. Just then, archers appeared below them. Y/n watched as Edmund climbed over the roof, rolling down before tackling a guard to the ground, which caught the archers, Peter, and Y/n's attention.

"Ed!" Peter and Y/n shout, noticing the archers gazes on the boy now.

Eventually, Edmund looked at the archers, noticing them looking at him. Frantically, he ran through a door, the archers shooting at him, but he closed the door before he could get injured. Y/n had ran slightly, still near the roof as she unsheathed her sword, fighting against the Telmarines like the others. As she fought, Y/n found herself going upwards, hoping to find Edmund, but two guards got in her way.

Her sword clashed with theirs, taking down one before dealing with the other, not noticing another guard come up her, until she took out the guard in front of her. Suddenly, she felt a searing pain in her arm, turning around, being met with the other guard. Using her free arm, she took him down before continuing to make her way up, holding her very injured arm. Eventually, she was met with a griffin, that knelt down, letting her climb on.

In a very tall tower in the castle, Edmund frantically walked through a door, locking it with his torch, before going to the edge, seeing how far down he was. Just then, a couple of Telmarine guards loud grunts from the other side of the door rang through his ears as they tried opening the door from their side.

Eventually, the guards made it through the door, making Edmund flinch as their swords were pointed right at him. The Just King took another step back, now standing between two pillars. Just one more step, then he'd be off the edge. Glancing down below, Edmund then looked back at the guards, a smile now plastered on his face before he leaned backwards...

Falling off the tower.

The guards were quick to run to the edge, peeking over, only to be met with a griffin flying past them, causing them to flinch. On the griffin, sat Edmund and Y/n, Edmund behind the girl, his arms wrapped around her waist.

"You're hurt!" Edmund observes, looking at her arm.

"Don't worry. I'll be fine." Y/n reassures, shrugging it off as they continued flying in the air.

Soon enough, the griffin flew over the small battlefield, seeing many people laying on the ground, limp, including a lot of their troops. A few tears fell down Y/n's cheeks as she looked down at them with her e/c eyes.
