Depression is being colorblind and constantly told how colorful the world is

There are multiple ways to derail someone's life, and living in closed quarters on a space station that is orbiting around an uninhabitable planet — or so they think — can make living pretty damn hard. Especially when you become the social pariah of the Ark because your mother has to have been a complete lunatic who thought going on a killing spree would solve all her life problems.
Conclusion; it does not solve all your life problems if it wasn't obvious, unless you count being sentenced to death and floated within the short span of five days.
No — life for Raegan was complicated instead, and her father isn't having it any easier trying to take care of a kid in her teenage rebellion phase with a case of anger issues.
Which should have been the first indication of a car crash waiting to happen - unresolved anger mixed with social exclusion is never a good pairing and the result may not have been as catastrophic as a mass murdering mother, but an arsonist isn't that much better. But in Raegan's defense, she knew that no one would be anywhere close to the fire she started and if it wasn't for the annoyingly attractive guard that happened to stumble upon her leaving the crime scene, no one would have suspected her in the first place.
Not expecting a pardon — blame that once again on her mother's killer genes, that she might have passed onto her, and the case of unresolved issues that no one wanted to talk about.
Raegan is ready to salute the Ark goodbye and die an excruciating death in space only to find out instead of space, she's sent to the ground with a bunch of criminal kids.
And just to add to her amazing luck, the man responsible for her arrest is on the dropship as well.
What could go wrong?
