One week later
After a week of super relaxing at the pool, Busan beaches, and boardwalk strolls and cycling tours, eating endless seafood feasts, and only FaceTiming and calling at night and texting all day with her super busy boyfriend.
They were finally ready to go to Seoul for another week and attend the two days of Hobi's concert.
When Sori accidentally reveals during a private family dinner at home that Ahri was dating an idol, their grandparents almost get heart attacks when they learn that it was with a member of Korea's national treasures.
Her grandpa, who was into politics, and her grandma, who was into culture, were so shocked that the said group, BTS, received a national recommendation from the Ministry of Culture for cultural contribution, a presidential commendation for their growing influence, and the highest 5th class Hwagwan Order of cultural merit, cementing them as the youngest and first idol group to receive this. They also received the Jane's A. Van Fleet Award for promoting US-Korean relations, and they were also appointed as Special Presidential Envoy to represent future generations in diplomacy. Grandpa Kang was so impressed, and he even congratulated Ahri for choosing right.
Sori was the one who led them deeper, especially when they learned that Hobi is also a record producer, composer, and songwriter. He has 104 songs credited to his writing. And the BTS rappers are full members of the Korean Music Copyright Association. Ahri just shrugged; she wasn't even concerned or moved by all those trimmings behind your name.
She believes in a person of character and principle. Even her PhD degree doesn't necessarily make her force people to call her "doctor" casually. For everyone, she is just Ahri, the psychologist. For a whole day, their grandparents insisted on learning more about the group and seeing their potential grandson-in-law. Ahri left them to fall into that rabbit hole she wants to avoid. She still has a lot of time to explore every layer of her gifted boyfriend.
Therefore, while Sori led her family deeper into the pit, Ahri decided to enjoy baked treats by the pool. She only had two weeks left of her leave. She could already sense her client's meltdown because of her absence; luckily, the clingy one will be taken care of by Dr. Shelby herself. Now, she was determined to relish the sights and sounds of her father's homeland.
Her grandparents had insisted on booking them in the 5-star Signiel Seoul that was located in the high-rise Lotte World Tower. The luxury hotel, which offered panoramic views, surprised them when Ahri revealed that she had made arrangements as a surprise.
She kept it like that. The day before they left for Seoul, the whole family was frantic with their packing because Ahri told them what to pack for the week.
Sori had one pink backpack that was the most functional. She could pack her technology and all the clothes she needed. Ahri had one medium white Chanel bag with roller wheels.
She knows how to pack for short trips and micro trips. She and Hobi were about to drop a giant bomb, and she hoped her family trusted her enough to be responsible.
The next day, Ahri was the first to roll her luggage down the wooden hallway toward the immaculate living room. She was on the phone texting her boyfriend. He is free today, and they will spend the week at his home. She was surprised that he invited the whole family to meet the Jung family.
The Kang household was buzzing with activity. Their luggage was carelessly stacked up in the grand foyer, and the housekeeper kept running around for things her mistress of the house almost forgot, from her favorite scarf to mineral water, etc.
Her grandma was double-checking her mom's travel bag to make sure she had everything. Her granddad stood around in the huge living room with his hands behind his back, also discreetly looking at his watch. He will drive with Ahri and Sori. Grandma will be with her son and daughter-in-law.
Ahri woke up early with a nervous tremor in her tummy. She hopes his family will approve of her. She never met any boyfriend's family before because her dating life died before it even began to live.
She made sure she looked ladylike and presentable. She dressed herself in a cream-white halter neck top, a floral flowy skirt, and white Jimmy Choo sandals. Her only accessories are the diamond ring and bracelet. Her hair was loose over her shoulders and very glossy.
She was waiting for the rest of the family in the living room. Her granddad found her there as he was busy drinking a cup of green tea. She was relaxing in the pink sofa chair talking to her boyfriend. He took today off and told management he's going to spend time with family.
Sori came down with her pink backpack; her hair was in loose pink curls. She had the whole Gothic look: a Rockstar graphic t-shirt, baggy denim jeans, and her embellished pink Jordans. Her fingers are adorned with a few Gothic rings.
Ahri just grimaced as she greeted the whole family as they all entered the living room after making sure they had everything they needed, from chargers to some medication. There was a hoot outside, and Sori ran to the window to peek. A huge black SUVv was driving up the cobblestone driveway. The windows were tinted as it stood in front of the entrance.
Her eyes widen as she freezes, looking at Ahri. "Unnie...Wow! This is not a rental car? Aren't we leaving with Dad and Harabeoji's car?"
The whole family looked so curious because they were planning to take two cars to Seoul, but outside stood a huge black SUV with all the amenities inside.
A chauffeur driver was standing outside by the door.
Ahris's heart started to race; it's her Hobi's doing. "Because...someone probably missed me more than I thought," she smirked, her heart joyful.
Her dad furrowed his brows as they all walked towards the entrance door. "We didn't book something like this," he said, turning to his dad. Who just shrugged. He and Ahri exchange discreet looks. The previous night she was sitting alone with her grandparents when her family all went up to bed.
They interrogate her about the seriousness of a relationship, etc. She quickly FaceTimed Hobi, and the starstruck looks of her grandparents were a sight to behold. They were so impressed with him, and she let her boyfriend meet her grandparents beforehand. They were so grateful, but she didn't tell her parents.
Sori laughed and clapped excitedly as she caught on to what Ahri was implying. The chauffeur respectfully bows to the Kangs and glides the door open to guide the woman in while the men help with the luggage. The interior was dark, with a glowing screen of a built-in TV screen and with flashing neon light cup holders. The seats were two seats. Four at the back with an aisle.
Ahris's mom looked at the others and asked cautiously, "Is this some kind of celebrity service?"
Sori gasped theatrically as she jumped in the back and plopped down on the plush seat where she and Ahri will occupy and adjust her seat belt. "Oh my word! Don't tell me...oh gosh. It was Hobi who sent it for us?"
Ahri blushed beet red as she just pursed her lips as if to laugh.
Her grandma just smirked. "That sunshine boy...he sent this car for you?" She fanned herself with a handkerchief, now a full-blown ARMY. "Woowee! My granddaughter lives in a kdrama." Her grandma sat across from her next to Granddad.
The family was pleasantly surprised by the ride to Seoul. Nobody has to drive, and the whole family of six can be together and hang out.
Then, when everyone was settled and relaxed, her granddad noticed
And said with a laugh, "Back in my day young men sent roses. Now they send SUVs with televisions."
Their dad just grinned and rubbed his temple. "No wonder you've been smiling at your phone the whole week."
"Argh, Dad, please don't," Ahri breathed out loudly with a groan.
Sori was more restless as she interjected gleefully, "No, wait...wait. I want to know, "Please tell me this is Jungkook's spot. I swear I'm sitting on his seat. Please say yes."
Ahri just shoved her. "Stop embarrassing me. I swear I'll disown you if you behave like this."
Sori just waved her dismissively off. "Do you know how jealous Nova and Piper will be if they know or find out that you are dating Hobi?" she said wide-eyed. "Hobi-oppa is really your boyfriend? They'll weep in their photocards." She giggled.
The atmosphere was relaxing, almost like a luxurious lounge. They were munching on kimchi and black noodles. Sori was playing some of the games. A console was connected to a wide screen and a steady wifi. The adults were sipping sodas and chatting softly.
Their grandma was passing a platter with bite-size sweet treats around to enjoy. The trip was almost two hours to Seoul.
Their mom couldn't stop smiling as she held a small rice cake in her hand; her grey-blue eyes sparkled. "This is ridiculous. We're getting spoiled rotten."
Their grandma leaned back and grinned. "That boy knows how to treat family. No wonder he wanted us to meet officially."
Sori choked early on her cream soda drink. "Wait...what?" She turned sharply to her grandparents' meeting. Aren't we going to the Lotte Hotel...?"
Her grandad grinned proudly. "Of course Ahri didn't tell you. Hobi met us last evening on FaceTime. He asked for Ahris's hand like a gentleman. That is why there's an official arranged meeting with his family."
The entire SUV gasped in shock.
Sori shrieked, "No way, seriously! I'm going to a Bangtan member's exclusive, never-before-seen private space."
Ahri looked annoyed. "Just keep that crazy ARMY vibe for yourself. We're not going to a fan meet."
Her grandma clapped her hands together with delight. "Our Ahri is going to be the daughter-in-law of the Jung family. I'm so happy for my daughter."
Sori threw her back backwards. "This is insane! I'm not even jealous...nope, not at all. My friends will scream! Do you know what this means?"
Ahri furrowed her brows and murmured, "Do I want to know?"
The van drives smoothly along the coastal highway. Ahri was on the phone texting nonstopwith Hobi. Laughter bubbled inside the van; with passing snacks around, the family grew more excited to meet the family. Their trip to Seoul has already begun.
The ride ends up in Seoul's most exclusive and wealthy neighborhoods in Gangnam-gu.A quiet street lined up with huge imposing mansions in the gated community with lots of surveillance.
And there it was: Hobi's private residence. The house was a modern masterpiece, with black-tiled walls and glass, landscaped gardens, and the sound of a water feature. When the wrought iron gates automatically closed behind.
The van's occupant looked at the residence with awe. Sori was speechless. Whose place was this? Hobi's family residence."
"Whose place is this?" She looked wide-eyed. Jhopes' house was a luxurious modern black mansion with a black design. It looks so futuristic with a lot of glass that gave it a stylish look. The first story has a glass-enclosed balcony with areas for relaxing. His shiny, black Lamborghini Huracán stood in the driveway.
Sori and the rest of the family, who are use on mansions and opulence, were actually more stoked that they've entered one of the world-famous, unbeknownst to them, Bangtan private spaces.
Ahri grinned with a glint in her eyes. "It's one of Hobi's houses," she said nonchalantly.
Her dad's eyes widen. "One? ---"
Ahri sighed as she placed her phone in her Chanel bag. "Yeah, he owned several penthouses globally, a few here in Seoul, and a house. Hobi is very much into property and not only music."
She knows her grandparents' minds were reeling. She snorted because her grandparents wanted to arrange a marriage with their wealthy neighbor's son. They told her parents if she's not involved or in a committed relationship after 25, they'll arrange with Taec-yeon, the tech tycoon son of his millionaire friends.
But now that they have met Hobi, they feel strangely content with her choice.
Ahri still smiles softly. "His family is visiting him just so that they can meet us."
Hobi, his parents, and Jiwoo were outside waiting for them. "Woah, this young man is very responsible and so humble," her grandma breathed out. The group got out of the van and greeted the Jungs respectfully.
Ahri just smirks.
Hobi stood with a wide smile on his face. He looked hip with a brown and gold designer bandana around his neck and a denim jacket with a crispy white T-shirt. His parents look relaxed with huge smiles on their faces. His sister looked like an energized bunny.
When the vehicle came to a standstill, the driver was quick to open the door for the happy occupants. Their parents were helped out of the vehicle. There was a lot of squealing and loud greeting taking place.
Ahri was the last to have to leave the vehicle.
Hobi just smiled brightly as he helped her from the vehicle. He immediately embraced her in his arms, not really bothered by his family's eyes as he took Ahri and kissed her softly on the lips in front of his family. Ahri was embittered. She could hear Soris's loud giggles.
"Oh, my gosh, I missed you so much, darling." He tightened his grip around her small waist. Ahri just giggles breathily. Her arms tighten around his waist; she missed him so much. Not even her grandma's paintings could ease her yearning for her love.
"I miss you too, sweetheart," as she laid her head on his chest. Inhaling his expensive scent. Sori and her mom and grandma stood with wide smiles. They've already greeted the hospitable Jungs.Ahris's parents and grandparents were fully embraced by the warm hospitality.
Still in his arms, his sister was already smirking. Ahri was more stunning in person. "So, this is the future Mrs. Jung," Jiwoo teased as she studied Ahri with sparkling eyes. Hobi got himself a very good catch. She was cool, calm, and very sweet.
"Don't worry, I'm going to tell you all of Hobi's secrets...since he was a boy." She waggled her eyes conspiratorially as Ahri just giggled softly.
Hobi gave his older sister a deadpan look. "Seriously, noona! This is not the time to embarrass me. "
She just winked and walked smugly inside. "Well, anytime is tea time." With her arm linking with Soris, they walked towards the huge glass and mahogany entrance doors.
Sori was looking back to her sister, who was still in Hobi's arms, her eyes wide as she mouthed something to Ahri. Hobi's sister, Jiwoo, immediately took Sori as a little sis.
After all the gleeful greetings and introductions, Hobi's mom came to Ahri with a bright smile and instantly grabbed Ahri's hands. "You are so beautiful; our son has great taste."
His dad smirked and nodded in approval. Welcome...welcome. You are family now..."
Hobi looked down on Ahri under his shoulder. "See, you were scared for nothing. They love you."
Ahri just smirked as they were led into the house.

The families were getting acquainted around the magnificent pool, drinking tea and savory treats. Sori was just smirking; she still couldn't believe she's almost family with Hobi.
When Hobi told them that they will not stay in hotels while Ahri is here, he prepared for the families to enjoy his hospitality for a week before they return to Busan. Sori was so giddy, and she can't wait to meet the rest of Bangtan at the shows. Ahri refrains from telling her that Hobi has invited the Tannies for a BBQ day to meet her.
Hobi and Ahri were snuggled up next to each other as they got to know the family. At the dinner table it was a lively K-BBQ feast; the black pork belly and beef strips were sizzling, the many side dishes (banchan) were covering the table, and both families were swapping stories.
Laughter and giggles follow after the Jungs hear about Ahris peculiar gift. She was part of the gifted community, and the family was enthralled by her intellect. Hobi's family was also very academic, as his dad was a literature lecturer.
Hobi's private staff was cleaning up, while Hobi took the family on a tour around the house. They were assigned rooms. Sori and Ahri will share a room.Sori was pinching herself to assure herself that she wasn't dreaming. She was the luckiest ARMY alive. The only one that knows how Hobi's house looked.
The Grand Tour finally ended. He had his own studio, gym, indoor basketball court, and a cozy man cave attached to the in-house cinema that led down to the pools downstairs. It was filled with plush couches, L-shaped sofas, and cute collectibles he got from his travels around the world. There was a bar line with pink neon lights, giving a relaxed atmosphere of a high-class lounge.
Ahris's family still had that awed expression on their faces as they stood in the middle of the private lounge that led out to the balcony, surrounded by Gangnam nightscapes.
Her dad, Mr. Kang, grinned. "It feels as if I walked into a K-drama set. This isn't a house; it's a palace. How many bedrooms are in this place?" He asked randomly.
Hobi's father beamed with quiet pride, his arms around his wife's waist.
"Six en suite bedrooms. It It has taken Hobi years of hard work, being a very busy BTS member and songwriter. But seeing our son finally make up his mind to let himself fall in love, getting two families together like this. Is all we're dreaming of."
Ahris's mom clasped her hands together in delight. "It's breathtaking, the space, detail, and interior...it's just wow!"
Jiwoo grinned. "Hobi loves to host Bangtan with those rare vacation days. Our family usually stays here when we visit my little bro."
Mrs. Jung smirks. "Ahri dear, I hope you and your family will feel at home for the week. We are going to have so much fun."
Ahris's grandma found her voice as she chuckled, "Ahri, dear, can you imagine living in Seoul in a magnificent house like this?"
Before Ahri could answer. Hobi leaned closer to his girlfriend; a mischievous smirk was tugging on his lips.
His voice was low but playful enough for everyone to hear.
"So, baby ... do you like it?" He asked with a teasing yet hopeful glance. Her family was watching them as Ahri flushed at their gazes.
She nods and says quietly, "It's very beautiful...more than I could imagine."
Hobi chuckled as he straightened himself up; with that airy confidence of his, he nonchalantly said, "Good, you better like it...because this is the house where we're going to build our family."
The room immediately erupted with gasps. Ahri's eyes widened as her jaws dropped at the unbothered. Jiwoo fanned her face dramatically, and Sori laughed out loud at her sister's red face. She was hiding her face behind Hobi's back, who just chuckled.
Jiwoo looked at her brother with shock. "Hey, Hobi, you can't just blurt out something like that in front of our families."
Ahris's face was a sight to behold. Her dad blinked, caught between shock and laughter. Hobi just confirmed that he is very serious with his oldest daughter.
Mr. Kang grinned. "I like his straightforward approach; he doesn't waste time, does he?" He winked at his future father-in-law.
Hobi's mom chuckled while patting Ahris's shoulder, where she stood next to Hobi, who had the widest smirk on his lips.
"Don't mind him, dear; boys will be boys. He just likes to test our reactions, but we won't mind if we can have grandchildren before we reach eighty." She gave her daughter, Jiwoo, a pointed look. Jiwoo got married a few years ago, but she and her husband don't want kids so early. They are still focused on building their careers and establishing their lives.
Ahris' cheeks can't take it anymore amid Soris' and Jiwoos' laughter. "You're all so impossible..."
Ahris's grandma laughs softly. "I wouldn't mind if they get married soon."
Her granddad smirked, his eyes glowing with contentment. "Me too...I would like them to bring boys into the family. My son was blessed with beautiful girls."
Hobi's dad grinned. "We need to start planning, because with Hobi and this rigorous celebrity lifestyle, they might let us wait."
Hobi burst out in laughter and pulled her tighter against him; he had already bound her by his words in front of their family. His eyes are soft on her. "See, you are already accepted as part of our family...you are not allowed to leave me."
Ahri gave him a soft slap on the chest. "How can I, now that you basically told my family about our intentions?"
The room was filled with excitement as Hobi looked up to their families. "Mom, Dad...and the Kang family...I have an announcement to make."
Jiwoo inhaled loudly and gasped, "Omg! You knocked Ahri up."
Hobi's eyes widen in shock. "Are you serious, Noona! And of course not... Ahri is a decent girl, but the two of us want to inform you that after the last Seoul concert, we're going away for a weekend as a couple...to Jeju. Just to relax and have a little peace after the craziness:
The families looked at each other knowingly as Hobi and Ahri stood there with hopeful eyes. They just need to get away and enjoy being a couple.
Her grandparents smile, and her dad nods. "You're adults, and you know how to be responsible."
Ahri blushed. "Dad, er...you don't have to worry. Hobi and I discussed everything. We'll be okay."
Hobi smiles and kisses Ahri on her temple. "I promise to look after her. This girl is my safe place, and she keeps me grounded."
The family stood affectionately by them and gave their blessing. It's difficult to date amid the watching eyes of the media and fans.
Sori snorted as she stood next to a smirking Jiwoo, "The way they look at each other...I don't know about that 'okay' part."
Hobi's dad clapped his hands. "Well, son, we trust you two and hope you find solace in Jeju. Okay, folks...the adults will have some hot drinks before bed... Jiwoo, you can entertain Sori. Let's give the couple some private time."
The family all scurry out of the private living room, leaving the couple, who proceed to the balcony. When they were out of the room, Hobi grinned as he took Ahris's hand and led her out to the illuminated balcony. He turned to her; his eyes had that teasing glint as he leaned in and kissed her with renewed passion. Ahri smiled into his kiss and slid her arms around his shoulders, fingers tangled in the soft strands of his hair.
After a few blissful moments they just stood there in the quiet of the night, against the glass balcony, with Hobi back-hugging her, his head resting on her shoulders...
"I love you, Kang Ahri," he murmurs in the soft fold of her neck.
Ahri smiled softly as she caressed his arms around her waist. "I love you too, Jung Hoseok..."
